The Russians and Chinese need our crops. They believe America is broken and attack.
In Wyoming, they will find out what unbreakable means. Brigadier General Lance Bear Wolf and his team form the Wyoming Army of Resistance. The very survival of America is at stake… and Wolf will not let it die.
From the wind-swept plains with their ICBM silos to the blood-soaked snow of occupied Cheyenne, Wolf ignites a rebellion that spreads across the Rockies. Every strike risks annihilation. Every decision is a fight between his principles and a primeval need to avenge the staggering losses America has suffered.
Written in the Mark Sibley Mongol Moon universe—where World War III is not a nightmare but a brutal reality—Dances With Arrows is a raw, relentless story of sacrifice and resistance in America’s darkest hour.
Steve Stratton, the author of One October and Plainridge, received his degree in Business Administration from the University of Alabama and currently works in the banking industry. When he is not writing, he enjoys spending time with his family.
I stumbled over this guy on social media a few years ago and got an advance copy of his first book about Lance Bear Wolf. I've been hooked ever sine then. Steve Stratton is a force of nature, with an interesting background to boot. If my count is correct he has now nine books out and more on the way. Dances with Arrows (Clever title) is to my knowledge his first adventure in the Mongol Moon universe, created by Mark Sibley. I must confess that I haven't read the other books in this universe but after reading this one I have started to collect the others to read when I find the time. In this book the invasion of USA by Russians and the Chinese is a fact and Lance is gathering forces and intelligence to fight back. Wow, what a book and the pace it's mind boggling. All of a sudden the book was finished and I am hungry for more. (Pun intended) Since the troubles is all about food resources. I have always liked resistance stories and adventures on how to fight back like a guerilla force. If you like great stories and action combined with a thrilling adventure this is something you need to read. I sincerely hope that Stratton will write more in this universe, but first up is another in his own Shadow Tier series.
Dances with Arrows by Steve Stratton is a gripping entry into the Mongol Moon universe, delivering a raw and intense military thriller set in a World War III scenario where Russia and China invade a weakened America for its resources. The story follows Lance Bear Wolf, Elle, and other members of Shadow Tier as they fight to retake America 🇺🇸. Picking up after the events of Gone Native from the Apocalypse in Pieces anthology, Steve keeps you riveted to the story from start to finish. I absolutely cannot wait for more of this story in the next book.
The ubiquitousness of Social Media has an unexpected, and righteous benefit. Specifically on X, it’s allowed fan of modern Warrior classics to interact with their favorite authors in a way not possible a decade ago. The novelists and professionals at Wargate publishers have successfully pulled off what was once limited to mega media companies. A universe of excellence has coalesced around Mongol Moon. Successful and amazing authors of their own warrior universes have formed a team to enrich the MM universe and their readers lives. Think Avengers Endgame or Justice League, but for literate people. Ok. Onto the review. It’s an outstanding book. But of course it is. Every one of Steve’s books is outstanding. That’s the brilliance of Mark Sibley. Deflect from answering awkward questions about “when’s the next book?) with brilliant and well written shiny objects from his peers, friends and fellow great Americans. If you haven’t had the privilege of reading all of the books, by all of the authors in the MM orbit, treat yourself. If you’re reading this book, you’re awesome and you deserve that happiness. Steve, when’s the next book? RLTW, DOL, Send Me.
Set in a post-EMP World War III Wyoming, this military thriller follows the Wyoming Army of Resistance as it wages guerrilla warfare against occupying Russian and Chinese forces while racing to secure critical nuclear assets before they can be used. The story delivers a high-stakes narrative grounded in tactical realism, with a clear focus on operational planning, combat execution, and the pressures of asymmetric warfare in a collapsed infrastructure environment. Action sequences are a particular strength, offering clarity, momentum, and immediacy that keep the story moving at a strong pace.
The novel will appeal to readers who enjoy military fiction centered on special operations, resistance movements, and strategic conflict scenarios. With a large ensemble cast of characters and a steadily escalating conflict, it builds a cohesive and continuously evolving storyline that supports the broader Mongol Moon Universe.
What a great addition to the Wargate Books Mongol Moon Universe! I feel like I was right there with the WARriors in their fight to reclaim the United States against the invaders. Loved this book!
