Chosen After Dark: The Final Book in the Nightbound Trilogy

Rate this book
War has finally come to Toronto

Madison Rivers thought proving her vampire-fae bond was real would be the hardest thing she ever did. She was wrong. Now she stands at the head of a fractured alliance of bonded supernatural pairs — and two armies are closing in from both sides.

Princess Genevieve's Traditionalist forces want them dead. Ancient vampire Malachar wants something he wants Madison's blood to build an empire of manufactured bonds, and he's been engineering this confrontation for years. With her life force draining every time she uses her growing power and the people she loves most in the crosshairs, Madison has one chance to end this — on her own terms, on ground she chooses.

As the alliance prepares to make its stand at the Setting Basin on the Toronto Islands, old wounds surface and new loyalties are tested.

Four new vampire-bonded pairs ally with Madison and Corvus. Elara (Witch) and Tobias, Luna (Were-Wolf) and Kai Zhang, Mikaela (Nephilim) and Zara.

Corvus, who has stood beside Madison since the beginning, faces the truth that loving someone more powerful than yourself is its own kind of war.

Chosen After Dark is the explosive conclusion to the Nightbound Trilogy — a story about the bonds we choose, the cost of fighting for them, and what it means to build something worth protecting in a world that would rather see you burn.

Perfect for fans of J.R. Ward, Nalini Singh, and Jeaniene Frost. This book contains explicit romantic content and is intended for adult readers.

Chosen After Dark is, for me, the bittersweet conclusion to the Nightbound Trilogy. From the very beginning of this series, Madison and Corvus quickly became two of my favorite paranormal couples. Their bond, built on love and strength for one another, is what carries this trilogy.

With eight central bonded couples now in their inner circle, and more arriving, Madison prepares to assume the leadership role she has been working toward throughout the series. Corvus is right by her side as her support system and her anchor. The other pairs, including Luna (Werewolf) and Kai Zhang, and Mikaela (Nephilim) and Zara Elara (Witch), have shown their allegiance to Madison beyond measure.

With two dangerous vampire factions waging war against them, the bonded alliance is called to defend their lives. Every bond of love and loyalty is finally put to the ultimate test. Craig R. Mitton has written a drama-filled paranormal romance series that I’d recommend without a second thought.

This is the 3rd and final book in The Nightbound trilogy. It features Madison, Corvus and several other mixed species couples that go against what most of supernatural kind seem “acceptable “. With these new characters /couples in tow the fight between both factions of vampires and other supernatural entities comes to a head with Madison leading the charge. I loved the new characters, but the storyline did drag , just a tiny bit, but not enough to make me quit reading it ! The setting is the Toronto Islands with every type of supernatural being taking part, not just Fae and vampire, nephilim, witch and were are all there, fighting for the right to live and mate whom they please. It’s truly an all out war, not for dominance, but to survive. Craig R. Mutton gave us a well written ending to a 3 book series! 4✨’s . Corvus and Madison find other bonded pairs that have stayed under the radar for years, knowing what it would cost them if they were caught. The Alliance needs to make a stand against those who see these bonds as unnatural. They need to show that they are real, that the bonds can survive cross-species unions.

But across the species, there are those with an agenda who want to squash this alliance before it gains momentum, sending out a message to those who think they can go against the 'laws.'

Corvus, Madison, and the other bonded pairs must ready themselves for a war, one they may not survive, but need to face so they can have a life where they are not hidden, one where they can show love openly.

The book is action-packed and steamy. Each pair has its own little story to tell, which I like, giving the characters more depth.

This was a powerful and satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. From the beginning, the story carries a strong sense of urgency, with everything building toward a final outcome that feels both intense and meaningful.

What stood out most to me was how everything came together—character arcs, relationships, and the overall storyline all felt complete and well-resolved. There’s a depth to the emotions and choices that really makes the ending hit.

The pacing kept me fully invested, with plenty of tension and high-stakes moments that made it hard to put down.

Overall, this was a strong finale that delivered on everything the series built toward. I really enjoyed it and think it’s a great ending for readers who have followed the journey from the beginning.

Intense. Satisfying. Memorable.

This was a fantastic finale to this trilogy.

After the drama of a fae-touched human bonding with a vampire causing a stir in both species' society, it turns out other cross-species bonded pairs exist. Equally shunned and forced into hiding, just for daring to fall in love, these pairs finally come together in the hope that there is strength, and safety, in numbers.

Learning about each pair through their individual points of view made for an interesting story, which I really enjoyed. Each person had their own personality, backstory, and challenges.

Corvus and Madison definitely know how to give the reader a wild ride! I finished this book in about 2-1/2 hours! It sucked me in so fast! Nothing is ever easy for them, but they forge ever forward to get their bond, and the bonds of so many other couples, accepted and honored by everyone in every Kingdom. The battles are tough, but the bonds of friendship grow between all of the couples in their Alliance. But that ending!!!! It's going to hard to wait for the next book in this series.

Bonded and Ready to Fight

Corvus and Maddison find others who have bonded like they have and not it is time for them to take a stand against those who want to destroy them. As a war brews, so does the resolve of every pair willing to fight for their bond. I could not put this one down and needed to know how it all ended. It was definitely worth the read!
