Crafting sizzling romances is my passion, and I've got a foolproof recipe: Take two parts enemies-to-lovers, add a dash of bad boy charm, and mix thoroughly with a smart, sassy heroine. Simmer with steamy tension, and garnish with a satisfying happily-ever-after.

As a military spouse, I've called many places home, gathering inspiration from coast to coast. Now, I'm anchored in picturesque New England, where I spin tales of love and desire with my faithful German Shepherd by my side.

My stories celebrate the delicious complexity of relationships, the thrill of attraction, and the power of love to conquer all. If you're looking for a page-turning escape that'll leave you breathless and believing in happy endings, you've come to the right place!

Boundless is one of those quiet, heartfelt romances that works its way under your skin before you even realize it’s happening. Logan is the definition of closed-off—single dad, veteran, rancher, and emotionally barricaded behind years of loss and responsibility. He’s not looking for love, not open to it, and definitely not prepared for his daughter’s kindergarten teacher to stroll into his life with a casserole and zero intention of backing down.

Jess is warm without being unrealistic, patient without being passive, and her connection with both Logan and his daughter feels natural and earned. The way she integrates herself into their lives—Saturday mornings, shared meals, small moments—makes the romance feel lived-in rather than rushed. Watching Logan wrestle with his feelings, his guilt, and his fear of wanting more was deeply satisfying, especially as his walls start to crack in ways he never planned.

This story isn’t loud or over-the-top—it’s tender, grounded, and emotionally rich. If you love grumpy/sunshine dynamics, single dad heroes, found family vibes, and slow-building love set against a Montana ranch backdrop, Boundless delivers a heartfelt, rewarding read that lingers well after the last page.

Jess arrives in Copper Ridge because her Great Aunt left her cottage to her. Logan’s not looking for love. His ex left a few years ago and now he’s got the ranch and his daughter Sadie to deal with. He doesn’t have time for anything else. But then they spend time together. And slowly Jess breaks down his walls. Logan has a lot to work through due to his ex. This was such a good book I couldn’t put it down. It’s will suck you right in! I will say it’s low on spice but the book didn’t need more.

started off very strong but..

This book started off really well. The grumpy, closed off single dad trope is one of my favorites. Jess and Logan had very good chemistry and tension at first. But then Jess said something (at about 30% in) that completely poisoned me against her and I couldn’t get past it.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Jess is Logan’s daughter’s kindergarten teacher and she tell’s Logan that Sadie is crying during nap time because she misses her mom (who abandoned her). While I know that any child who doesn’t have a mom wants one desperately, Jess tells Logan that “she NEEDS a mom”. Who the heck is she to say that his daughter needs a mom?? Not to mention the fact that she doesn’t even know these people yet. It felt like this writer or character was saying that a single dad will never be enough without a mom. That is such a disservice to single dads. I grew up without my mom and even though I missed her terribly, I had an amazing and fulfilling childhood.

Anyway, I tried so hard to get past it. But after that I couldn’t make myself like the heroine. Mostly because she was trying so hard to be perfect and ingratiate herself into the mom role. She was just too perfect and it didn’t seem natural to me at all.

This was another great book by Colby Quinn, addictive, entertaining, heartfelt, and just swoony!

Jess is a woman who has lost his way under the scrutiny of her parents, her fiancee, the life they were submitting her to. She gathers courage and leaves the city to Montana to claim a cabin her great grand aunt left for her as inheritance. Upon arrival she is surprised by the land, the property, the memories, and the wise words of Gigi Margene. Slowly she starts to rediscover herself and also define a new life for her and that includes the love of a rancher, Logan and his daughter Sadie. He is living with the pain of his ex wife's abandonment, and the pain of grief; he has build high walls to protect him and his daughter, but when he meets Jess, he gets a second chance at life and love, only if he ever if able to lose his fear of losing again.

A great great plot that will tug at your heartstrings!

Colby Quinn’s Boundless is a highly emotional, beautifully crafted romance that will tug at your heartstrings from start to finish. The story features Logan Dawson, a devoted Montana rancher and single father who is trying to heal from a painful divorce. His character is deeply layered—steadfast, loving, and vulnerable, especially when it comes to trusting in love again. Watching Logan’s journey is painful, inspiring and touching.

Equally compelling is Jess Bennett, Sadie’s caring kindergarten teacher. Relocating to Montana after ending an engagement she knew wasn’t right, Jess finds more than just a fresh start—she discovers a welcoming community, a charming cottage, and a sense of true belonging. Her character lights up the pages as she falls in love with both her new life and with Logan, bringing warmth and determination to their blossoming relationship.

The supporting cast is just as memorable, especially little Sadie Dawson—a bright, loving five-year-old who adores her father and quickly forms a sweet bond with Jess. Her innocence and longing for her mother’s presence add depth and poignancy, while Ruth Dawson, Logan’s mother, brings humor, wisdom, and heart to every scene she’s in.

Ruth’s delightful meddling and heartfelt advice make her an unforgettable addition to this story, and the way she takes Jess under her wing truly stands out.

Prepare yourself for a rollercoaster of emotions—Boundless is packed with poignant moments, from old wounds reopened by unexpected visits to the tender hope of new love. The pacing is perfect for fans of slow-burn romance; the characters’ friendship blooms authentically into something passionate and true. The story’s emotional depth and relationship challenges will have you reaching for tissues, with heartbreaks that feel real and moments of joy that are utterly uplifting.

This is a stellar, must-read romance—an absolute 5-star gem! Boundless is a heartfelt reminder to never give up on real love and to fight for what matters most. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic, moving storytelling and unforgettable characters.

In Boundless, Colby Quinn delivers a tender and engaging small-town romance that hooked me from the very first chapter. Logan is the quintessential broody, battle-scarred single dad who’s spent three years raising his daughter Sadie since his wife walked out, and Jess Bennett is the warm-hearted kindergarten teacher who refuses to take “stay away” for an answer — even when Logan’s fences, cattle, and emotional walls suggest she should. Their story is rich in heartfelt emotion, gentle humor, and deep character development, and it genuinely lingers long after you close the book.
What I loved most was how authentic the emotional beats felt — from Sadie’s quirky purple-cow dream (a moment that literally made me laugh out loud) to Jess patiently chipping away at Logan’s guarded heart. The author balances humor and poignancy with ease, and while Logan’s indecision made me want to scream at him more than once (a sure sign I was totally invested!), it also underscored his vulnerability in a realistic way. There were moments when I wished Logan would make up his mind a bit sooner, but that tension ultimately made the payoff more satisfying.

Quinn’s writing style is warm, conversational, and full of heart. The gentle humor (especially in scenes with Sadie) offsets the more serious emotional arcs beautifully, and the small-town setting adds a cozy backdrop that makes this feel like curling up with a favorite blanket on a lazy afternoon. If there’s a weakness here, it’s only that a few moments feel a bit trope-comforting — but honestly, in this genre, that’s part of the fun!

Verdict: A deeply enjoyable, emotionally resonant romance with real laughs and real heart. I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — definitely worth adding to your TBR if you love sweet small-town stories with strong characters and well-earned romance.

I don't do sunshine. I do fences, cattle, and raise my daughter alone since her mother walked out three years ago.

I do walls. Thick ones.

Then Sadie's new kindergarten teacher shows up at my ranch with a casserole I didn't ask for and a smile that hits me straight in the chest. Jess Bennett is stubborn, too damn beautiful, and apparently immune to every hint I drop that she should stay away.

She keeps showing up. Saturday mornings. Sunday dinners. Paint-splattered jeans and messy hair and those dark eyes that see right through me.

I'm a grown man. A veteran. I've got no business dreaming about my kid's teacher. No business watching her laugh with my daughter and imagining what it would be like to keep her.

She says she's not leaving.

My head knows better.

But my heart's already gone. And God help me, the rest of me is following.

This contemporary small-town second-chance cowboy military romance is page-turning with exceptional world-building in Montana, and characters who are a military veteran hero, single dad/grumpy/sunshine female heroine, who are resilient, captivating, and realistic. Their journey is enthralling, with being boundless, mature, explicit romance that is consumed by steamy, sizzling passion, lust, desire, and spice, with all the feelings to leave readers breathless and begging for more, a cowboy/rancher romance, chaos/drama, heartfelt emotions/emotional depth, action, adventure, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with being boundless and an explicit small-town second-chance military cowboy romance that is sure to transport readers into a world that is wildly lustful, emotional, and unforgettable.

Jess had a life that looked perfect from the outside. But inside she was empty. Garret her fiancé was someone who looked good, but Jess realized that she was wearing clothes he chose, wearing her hair the way he liked it, and didn't even recognize herself anymore. So when she inherited her Aunt Margene's cottage in Montana she left Connecticut, Garret, her teaching job and her family and moved to Copper Ridge. She overheard that they needed a kindergarten teacher urgently. She contacted the principal and was offered the job immediately. She accepted. One student who she loved from the beginning was Sadie. She was so full of curiosity and energy. Her father Logan was a rancher. Jess couldn't stop thinking about him after she met him. He kept thinking about her, too. They became friends and then more. His mother Ruth was a good friend and helped her understand Logan's fears because his first wife Amanda left when Sadie was 2 years old. He got up one morning and she was gone. Sadie thought she wasn't good enough to make her mommy love her. Amanda had broken promises to her over and over. But she loved her teacher, Jess. This is a story of two people who were hurt by those closest to them, resulting in walls and fears of trying again. But when they both decide that this is worth fighting for, everything changed. They were in love and wanted forever. This was a great book. Definitely recommend it.

‍Heartwarming. Romantic. Unputdownable

Colby Quinn has written an incredibly touching and heartwarming story. Logan is a closed-off single father who thinks love is too risky after being abandoned. Jess is a woman who is looking to find herself after an unfulfilling relationship and unsupportive parents.

What you will love:
💔 Broody, Broken, Single Dad Rancher
💋A Strong and Brave Heroine
🫶Guarded Hearts Collide
👵 Meddling but Loving Mother/Grandmother
🏡Small Town Charm

Unlike some reviewers, I never give a synopsis of the book or reveal spoilers when I do a review, but I will say that the characters have substance and are multifaceted. Ms. Quinn takes time to develop every character, including some important secondary characters like: Sadie, Logan’s adorable five-year-old daughter, and Ruth, Logan’s loving, meddlesome and supportive mother.

The book held my interest throughout the story. It is layered with emotion and conflict that resonate with authenticity and the kind of love that finds you when you’re feeling lost. This is a brilliant story, carefully crafted and cleverly plotted. The denouement is perfect, not rushed, and eagerly awaited. This is a story to savor, and it will stay with you. This is a beautiful book about learning to love yourself and standing up for what you want and deserve. Jess was a kindergartner teacher and she was engaged to an elegant man who wanted her to be more. He wanted her to fit into his perfect little box. Her family believed she should want more than that simple life. They talked her into getting a corporate job because that was more prestigious.

Her great aunt passed away and left Jess her mountain cabin in
Montana. Jess drove 3000+ miles to see the cabin leaving her job and her fiancé behind. When she got to the cabin there was a letter waiting for her from her great aunt telling her that she believed Jess deserved a better life that didn’t include little boxes but instead the big skies of Montana. It didn’t take Jess long at all to find her place in the small town. There was an urgent need for a kindergarten teacher to start teaching right away. Everything fell into place for her to start her new life. She started work that Monday and met a very handsome man who was the father of one of her new students.

This book showed the relationship between her and this scared father that had been left to raise his daughter without her mother. Logan had to learn how to trust someone with his heart and the heart of his daughter and Jess had to learn how to prove she was worth the chance to love again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Emotional, heartfelt, and unforgettable

What a story. Boundless had me laughing, crying, and more than once yelling at Logan to get out of his own way. He’s stubborn, closed-off, and hurting—but that just makes his journey hit harder. Watching him fight his feelings while clearly already in too deep was equal parts frustrating and completely believable.

Jess was an absolute standout. I loved her quiet strength, especially the way she showed up again and again without realizing just how strong she truly was. Her bond with Sadie was beautiful, and the way she fit into their lives felt natural and earned. She didn’t force her way in—she stayed, patiently, lovingly.

Logan’s ex? Yeah… hard dislike. Which only made me root harder for Logan to finally choose happiness and stop letting the past dictate his future.

This book is a wonderful story about healing, second chances, and fighting for love even when it feels terrifying. Tender, emotional, and deeply satisfying. Boundless completely lived up to its name. 💛📚.

This is a heartwarming story. First there is Jess (MFC) who has relocated to Montana after she inherited her aunt’s home. She is a teacher, but was doing everything (what she wore, fixed her hair, ete) that he wanted and did not recognize herself anymore. She breaks off the engagement and moves from Connecticut. She overhears that they desperately need a kindergarten teacher and she contacts the principal and gets the job. As Jess loved one of her students, Sadie, from the beginning as I did. She is a child filled with energy and curiosity. Her dad, Logan (MMC) is a single father and rancher. But he has been hurt, as Sadie’s mom just up and left when she was only 2 years old. You will love his mom, Ruth as she takes Jess under her wing. Her meddling, humor and advice is a great addition to the storyline. A must read. I enjoyed reading this book. I was "grabbed" by the author from the first chapter when Sadie told her dad that she dreamed she had a purple cow that she named Grape.
"
The book is full of humor and emotion. I have to admit that I grew very impatient with Logan. I wanted to scream at him to quit vacillating and make up his mind.
o
I volunteered at my kids' parochial school at lunch time, rotating with countless other mothers. One day I walked in to find the teacher brushing the hair of a little girl. Her twin sister was sitting nearby, waiting her turn. Later, the teacher said that the mother had walked out on the family, leaving the father to care for the 5 young children. He was doing his best, but with working, he was overwhelmed, so everyone was pitching in to help.

This novel brought those memories back to me, along with the old cliche..."you just can't make up this stuff".

A very good read.

In Boundless, Jess travels across the country - from Connecticut to Montana - when she inherits her Great Aunt Margene's cottage. Jess is purposefully leaving behind the finacé and life that everyone expected her to live. Logan, for the past three years, has completely closed himself off, protecting his heart and emotions behind the walls he built up after his wife abandonded him and their 2 year old daughter Sadie. I was completely engaged by these characters. While still enmeshed in their broken pasts, it was heartwarming to follow their emotional ups and downs. Their openness and vulnerability grabbed at my heartstrings. This well written story with great character development is a highly recommended, lovely romance. It is the first Colby Quinn book I have read and will definitely not be the last!

Jess went to Montana where her great aunt left her , her cottage .
When she arrived at Copper Ridge she was lost and she met with two elderly men and she asked where was the old Margene cottage , they tells her she was good people , when they showed her the directions she found her destination.
The house was very neatly and everything was in place and then she saw an envelope , it was written for her.
She wanted things from the general store, when she went she saw that a kindergarten teacher is wanted on the noticed board.
Logan a single father who every morning had to wake up early for his ranch, he had to take care of his 5 year old daughter that is going to begin school, the first day of school he met with Jess , he couldn’t take his eyes on her.
But after his ex wife left he built walls that no one could break.

An amazing book that I recommend to read

This is Logan and Jess’s story.
Logan is a military veteran, rancher, and single dad to his daughter Sadie, after his wife left him, while Jess is Sadie’s new kindergarten teacher. Jess keeps showing up with casseroles, and Sunday dinners, and is immune to his hints to stay away, as she slowly begins to break through the walls around his heart.
This is a well written slow burn, easy to read, emotional roller coaster, with found family, friendships, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, engaging and realistic characters, humour, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, heartfelt, and poignant, small-town romance.
I look forward to reading more from these talented authors’ whose work I highly recommend.

This book is a reminder that love shows up when you’re least prepared and absolutely not looking for it. Jess and Logan are both running from different things and didn't expect each other, but were drawn together anyway. Jess was running from a woman she didn't recognize, trying to find herself. Logan was running from living after having his heart broken by his ex wife. They fought through fear, doubt and stubbornness to make a solid family for Sadie.

The romance simmers rather than explodes, which somehow makes every glance and almost-confession hit harder. (low spice)

Overall this was a cute, easy read that'll have you turning the page to see who going to admit to being in love first!

Jess and Logan . . .

Jess Bennett moved to Copper Ridge when she inherited a cottage from her Great Aunt. She takes a job as a kindergarten teacher where she meets Sadie. Logan has a cattle ranch and is Sadie's dad. Still hurting since his wife had walked out on him 3 years previously, Logan continues to raise his 5-year-old daughter Sadie alone and lives with the pain of his ex-wife's abandonment. So when Jess starts coming around with casseroles and kindness, he isn't sure what to do about that. Sadie and Jess laugh with each other and definitely seem to be bonding, but can Logan trust anymore after what his ex did to him? Has he closed his heart off permanently? Or will her consistent caring finally convince him that she isn't going to abandon them?

She is starting over in Montana after inheriting her great-aunts cabin. Against her family’s wishes she is choosing to stay and start fresh after a recent breakup. She takes a job as a kindergarten teacher, something she loved doing before her family convinced her it was beneath her. He is a single father, veteran and ranch owner with deep seated issues based on his ex- wife abandoning them. Can he let go of the past and let her in? Will she finally find home with someone who truly sees her? This was such an overwhelmingly emotional romance. I laughed and cried numerous times. And oh my goodness 5 year old Sadie stole my heart. Loved it. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by booksprout.

Jess inherits a cottage in Montana from her great aunt. The timing is perfect , she’s broken up with her boyfriend and is looking for a new start. She immediately feels at home and impulsively takes a job teaching kindergarten. The first day of school she meets Logan - one of her students father and also her neighbor. Logan is very attracted to Jess but he also carries a lot of past hurt and insecurities. Logan is afraid to get attached to Jess because he’s so sure he will leave. Jess also has insecurities because she tried to mold herself into what her ex-fiancé wanted her to be, not who she really was. As they struggle, they are able to heal and move forward. Great ending!.

Just a look in the mirror. A wonderful tale about a decision that started a whole ripple effect of decisions that changed the way on young lady looked at her life. There is a whole community of wonderful characters each with an interesting part to play. There are theories of how and who is best to decide how your life should be lived. There are the big Montana skies and all their stars to get lost in. Not to mention deer fencing and bear wrestling. Some very wise observations from an old cowboy, a five year old and a grandmother. A book that can’t be put down until it has been read and only then with a tear or a chuckle.

She has broken her engagement and moved to Montana after inheriting her Aunt's home. She has started a new job as a kindergarten teacher and becomes close to one of her students. He is a single Dad and rancher, father to a young daughter, and both of them are trying to recover from his wife/her mother leaving them. When she and he meet, attraction is there but both are leery of love and not sure it is in the cards for them. Loved all the characters and their interactions, storyline very well written and not rushed, their slow fall was very well done. Very enjoyable love story.

My heart went out to these two, they had been through a lot and still had more to come, I wanted to hug them both throughout. I really enjoyed seeing them come together, the way they got on and opened up to each other and how happy they each made the other. I also liked seeing the support they had from those around them, it helped them deal with those who didn't support them. The story pulled a lot of emotions from me and held my attention from start to finish.

I’ll be honest. I love Colby Quinn. She writes some of the sweetest romances I’ve read, and Jess and Logan’s story was so touching. These two people were both healing and still found their way to each other. I love that Logan’s daughter and mom were such a big part of the story.

If you like a love story that builds slowly and deeply, you will love this book. The spice level is low but the story is so sweet I promise you won’t care. I’m already looking forward to the next book.

Well written story and well developed characters.
Jess came to Montana to find herself and escape her ex-fiancée and her family.
Logan was a grumpy rancher. That didn't date at ALL. His ex-wife left when their daughter was two and left him a single dad, telling him that he was too much.
Can they be the answer to each other? Can they survive when his ex and her ex come calling?
