This short story miniseries is a prequel to the “Omega Series.”
Five-year-old Alessandra is obsessed with Disney movies, tea parties and just wants a real birthday party for once in her life. But normal kids don’t bring their toys to life for afternoon tea or see the colorful threads of magic and energy clinging to everything around them.
Normal kids don’t know that gargoyles feel pain, either, or invite one to live in their closet.
On her sixth birthday, Alessandra begins to learn the truth. She’s special, and the men in the black van are coming for her.

Told thru the eyes of a 5 year old little girl who kept my attention the entire time. I love the way this story was told, it was full of things that as a child you wish you could do. Alessandra is absolutely adorable, this is the very beginning of her journey and I am very excited and can not wait to read more. Alessandra is able to give life to inanimate objects, how cool is that? Imagine bringing your favorite doll to life when you were 5!? She gets to make some pretty cool friends, her protector is one very cool gargoyle. Her parents do their best to hide her but things go wrong and she is in danger. Will her protector save her? Where are her parents? What happened to them?
I just purchased/one clicked all of the miniseries looks like there are a total of 8. I promise if you are a fan of Lizzy Ford’s and you love all paranormal books you will love this short story that will lead into Omega. This is a short book, that you can read on your lunch hour! Looking forward to the Omega series!!
I received an arc copy of the book from the author for an honest review.
Alessandra is a special five year old. She sees ribbons around people and things. She can even bring her stuffed animals to life. She isn't sure what this all means She just knows she feels the pain of inanimate objects. Her parents have warned her to keep this to herself. What to do if anything happens to them. Now she is scared the men are coming for her and she has to call the stone gargoyle to help.
Awesome short story to the start of this new series. Alessandra is a little mature for her age. But since she is special and her parents have taught her what to do in different scenarios. Makes it a little more believable. The story grabs your curiosity and makes you want to know more and to see where it is going. Gives you the background for when Omega comes out. Looking forward to reading the series.
This is just one of the miniseries of a few others that will be introducing the characters leading up to the Omega Series.
It's a short read but just enough to have you wanting more. Our first character is little Alessandra, who can bring inanimate object's to life, with her parent's trying to hide her, things get complicated, let's face it she's 5 yrs old who cant help but follow her heart, her dreams seem to be her biggest down fall, they tend to be nightmare's and they come to life, need I say more.
As much as I want to get into this short but very delightful story, I don't want to give away spoiler. All I can say is that the next book can't come soon enough, they will all have somewhat of a cliffhanger, but the best is yet to come.
Yikes. Alessandra looks like she's going to have a hard road in front of her. As the start to an 8-part miniseries, this installment definitely captures the attention. (Having read the first 4 parts of the miniseries as I sit down to write this review, I can say that the worldbuilding is kinda awesome and grows with every installment and I'm the tiniest bit jealous of Lizzy Ford's brain.)
Yes, I picked up the next part of the story as soon as I finished this one. Because I can't resist gargoyles.
Alessandra is my fav character from Omega. And I really loved knowing what exactly happened twelve years ago. She is so freaking adorable!! Love her thinking and how it mismatch came to life and why she called him that lol!
I will admit I was confused at first but when I read more I came to an understanding of this book. It was cute and very intriguing and was a wonderful book for a "Mini Series" I would love to read more and can't wait for the next book! As always Lizzy Ford amazes me with her wonderful story telling and has a great imagination.
A little girl who doesn't have a full understanding of her powers when she can bring objects to life such as her toys and even bigger objects like gargoyles one in particular she's fond of who she calls Mismatch witch suits him well coming from a 6 year old girl, his eyes are a dark teal, he has an athletic build, with the mane of a lion, face of a panther, and wings like a dargon. I wouldn't blame her to be so drawned to a creature like him.
With powers like hers, her parents are worried. They want to keep her safe from them.
Till the night of her birthday everything changes and Mismatch comes to her rescue.
This book captured me from the start, can't say that I can explain why, I just know I wanted to read more and find out what happened next. It was way too short for my liking, I wanted more information and more stories about the character.
At times it was hard to believe that it was from a 5/6 year olds perspective as the character seemed wise beyond her years and a lot more aware of things that most 5 years old wouldn't be, but it felt like this was the point. I wouldn't have wanted to read it exactly like a 5 year old had written it anyway.
I loved the concept of being able to see things others couldn't and being able to bring her 'stuffies' to life. Her parents were most certainly absent from her life, which just brought me closer to the character.
I am looking forward to the rest of the series, hopefully its not going to be a series where I have to wait a year or two to find out what happened to Alessandra.
'I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review'
Alessandra is a typical little girl. She loves Disney, her stuffed animals and tea parties. Only thing is she is a special little girl. She has the power to bring her stuffed animals to life. Not only her toys. She heals and is able to bring life to a Gargoyle who becomes friend and protector. A protector she will need on her birthday. Because the power that makes her so special also puts her in danger.
This was short and interesting and left me wanting more. I am very eager to read book two. In this one you meet a sweet young girl with a special power and a big heart who by no fault of her own is now in danger. It was a quick read with not a lot of explanation of the background behind her powers but leaves you with anticipation of possibly finding out in coming books. I definitely recommend reading. You will be hooked.
So from what I can see, these are little character Introduction short stories to be released each month until the release of the full book Omega.
Lizzy Ford is one of those authors who really found her calling and she never fails to release these amazing stories. This is no different. I love these short stories because they are a nice touch to start you getting excited for a new release.
I don't want to get into details of the story because frankly it's self explanatory. Each part has the character name in the title, you learn a little about their life and so far the next character in the series has been introduced in the part before linking them all together. Also they have been FREE on Amazon so perfect start but wait.....it doesn't end there. Lizzy has also added a competition in the end of the story. Go read it and see the details.
As always they are beautifully written and I definitely recommend the author and not just one specific title as all are amazing.
Wow!!! I thought this prequel was fantastic. Lizzy Ford spun a web and I was caught from the first page to the end. The story starts when Alessandra is a child at the age of six. She can see ribbons of energy around living and non-living things. She doesn't understand what it means, but she can combine the ribbons to bring objects to life, like her friend Mrs. Nettles (half cat and stuffed animal). During a school field trip, she gets upset as some boys are hurting a gargoyle. The gargoyle is injured and she heals the gargoyle and names him Mismatch.
Her parents are fearful for her, since she is different and is in danger. However, her protector is Mismatch and comes to her when she calls to him.
I am looking forward to this series and can't wait to read what happens next to Alessandra, Mrs. Nettles and Mismatch.
I really liked this book. I was unsure of what to expect with this book when I read the description but it sounded interesting and interesting it is. It starts with Alessandra who is a six year old little girl She isn't just a normal little girl. She can bring things to life and see people's "ribbons". She goes to a museum one day and stops some boys from picking on a gargoyle. She fixes the gargoyle and inadvertently wakes it up. This ends up being a good thing. The only thing I didn't like about the book was the way it ended. Yes, everything was wrapped up for the most part but it leaves you wondering what's next and what will happen to Alessandra. The plot and story line are solid in this. The twists are great and keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters are well developed and have great personalities. It is a bit short simply because it's part of a miniseries.
What a great story. I have a secret love for gargoyles, so this was a nice surprise to read. Alessandra is a 5 year old, almost 6, that can see ribbons around all living things. She can bring her stuffed animals alive to have tea with her. No one is supposed to know she can do that though. She is on a field trip with school and sees the hurt of what others think is a pure stone gargoyle. But she can see that he is hurt. When her parents call to tell her to hide, she thinks it is for them to plan her birthday party. What she ends up seeing is nothing like what she thought. Can her new friend help her or will the men in the black van get her before anyone can help? This was a nice quick read in what is a planned miniseries of books, now I am going to not so patiently wait for the rest to be released!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am already hooked. I cannot wait to read more about this story and these characters. Alessandra is six years old and is able to bring stuff animals and other objects to life by moving the ribbons around and making a green ribbon. You already get a sense that Alessandra is important and is hiding from someone, though she does not know that. It is a short read, it is meant to be in prepare for Omega. I really like the idea of doing short stories before the actual story to get background on characters. I look forward to reading about the gargoyle Mismatch, which I love the name by the way, in the next short story as well as the other characters that are going to be written about.
Keep in mind that this is a character introduction mini-book and not a full novel. This introduction to the Omega series and the character of Alessandra was fantastic. Initially, when it started off with a 5 year old girl, I wondered whether Lizzy Ford had written her first kids book and I was expecting to quickly be fast-forwarded 15 years in order for her story to continue. Well I wasn't, and that's just fine! Alessandra is a young girl with an unusual gift she doesn't quite understand. Her parents have strict rules for her to adhere to but at her young age, she doesn't understand the danger that she's in. This mini-book is the first of many to come and it's written just perfectly to get you sucked in to the world and make you really anxious to see where this story shall take us.
This is the first in a miniseries of short books that will lead up to the release for the full length novels in Lizzy Ford's Omega series. It's a short, sinful teaser to get you ramped up.
Alessandra has a gift. She can see a ribbon of colors around everyone and everything. She can also manipulate the ribbons that she sees to make objects come to life. Well, this information has fallen into the wrong hands, and the men in the black vans are coming for her.
This short read will keep you on the edge of your seat in anticipation, craving for more. It's packed with a lot of action. I just LOVE little Alessandra! I think she may be the cutest child I have ever read about. I can NOT wait for the next short story in this miniseries!
5 stars! *ARC received in return for an honest review
I'm loving this but then I'm not surprised, the author is Lizzy Ford!
Alessandra: Omega Beginnings is a short but exciting introduction into the mysterious world of Alessandra who, from an early age, can bring toys and inanimate objects to life at will. Nothing special about that you may say. Well it is when one of the objects is a huge stone gargoyle from the top of a building.
I really can't say anything more without revealing spoilers, except to say you're left wanting more. I can't wait for the next instalment, this is promising to be another great series from Lizzy Ford.
I highly recommend picking up this book and not just because it's free. Once you start reading this book you will soon find yourself falling for a cute 5 year old little girl named Alessandra. Alessandra has the ability to bring her stuffed animals to life, which is something she does often especially for a little afternoon tea.
Watch as she comes to the rescue of a Gargoyle who's being bullied. She befriends the Gargoyle and names him Mismatch.
This is the first book in the Omega Beginnings Miniseries and I can't wait to see where it's headed. I look forward to the release of the second book in the miniseries and seeing what all Alessandra is going to be capable of doing.
Alessandra (Omega Beginnings Miniseries Book 1) by Lizzy Ford Review by Becky Harley 5 Stars
Alessandra is a young girl with special abilities. Her parents are clearly trying to protect her from something but we are not sure what.
I love this miniseries. Its an excellent into into a new series and it introduces you to each of the characters before the full length books begin.
Alessandra is a sweet and caring character and her inquisitive and protective nature is endearing. The situation with her parents builds intrigue and the addition of her gargoyle adds mystery and keeps you waiting for the next book in the miniseries.
Overall a lovely and exciting introduction into the future Omega series.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This short story introduces us to Alessandra, a slightly more mature than usual 5 year old with a special ability. She can see the coloured ribbons that surround everything, and is able to manipulate these ribbons to bring inanimate objects to life. I found this book very intriguing and was immediately drawn in. This is a great start to a new series and I am excited to find out more about these characters and how Alessandra's abilities will develop and grow. Lizzy Ford has done another GREAT job with the start to another amazing series.
When I think of how this new Series from Lizzy is going to be all I can come up with is FANTASTICAL! She has a way of developing characters with such a story it captivates you from the beginning. And although this is a shorter read leading up to a bigger read later on it is well worth it. I think it is great getting to know a bit of insight on some of the characters and I think that will give us more of a connection with them. Throw in the fact that there is Oracles, gargoyles, and a little girl with amazing powers and mostly absent parents, you have some interesting story ahead i believe. If you want to get hooked on something I suggest this one!!
This story is so unlike anything I have read. I loved it and cannot wait for the next book.
Alessandra loves her stuffed animals and has the ability to bring them life. She can see the ribbons of life that surround the objects. Her life is a happy life and she befriends a gargoyle she names Mismatch. On her birthday her life is put in danger and Mismatch saves her. How does she bring these toys and statues to life? What is this ability she has? Why are people hunting her? What happens to her parents? All questions that you'll have to read the book to get answers for.
Alessandra seems to be a typical 5 year old girl who is excited for her birthday but she can do something fantastic, she can bring things to life. While on a field trip she uses her ability to bring a gargoyle to life. What Alessandra doesn't realize is that she is in danger. With the help of Mismatch (the gargoyle of course) she escapes some very bad men. The thing about a novella like this is that if I go into detail then I have told you the whole thing and what fun would that be? Trust me when I tell you that you want to read this, considering that it is free you have nothing to lose and it will eventually lead you to what promises to be a very good series!
This series must be read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to read Mismatch to find out what happens next!
Alessandra has special talents that will cause her trouble but she is too young to understand this. Her parents realize the danger and try to keep her powers hidden. Will anyone realize what Alessandra's powers are? Or will she escape before it is too late? Who or what is she being hidden from?
***This series is suitable for young adult through adult readers who enjoy paranormal in their modern fantasy suspense thrillers filled with the Old Gods and a bit of scifi :)
This was awesome but crazy. I'm all sorts of confused but excited for the next piece. I think it will be a great series. I can't wait to learn more about everything so I understand.
"Alessandra (Omega Beginnings Miniseries #1) by Lizzy Ford is captivating and you will want to read the whole miniseries and the Omega series!
I loved the writing style of this book, being told by 5 year old Alessandra's perspective and how she uses her powers. I could put myself in her world and understand her thinking. This book gives the background knowledge on Alessandra that sets the stage for the Omega series. You will fall in love with Alessandra and the ending will leave you wanting to know what happens to her, so be prepared to read the rest of the series!
I think I might have down rated it because I kept getting interrupted or extremely tired while reading it.
There are some good stuff here, it wasn't too long or too short and it was a cute and horrible story about Alessandra and her extraordinary gift that caused trouble for everyone around her. She's a secret of some sort? Hidden from the Gods due to her gift for sure. I liked Mismatch, and how she said that he belonged to her and she needed to take care of him just for him to turn it around so she would always have someone protecting her too! To be honest, the cat-teddybear koala thing freaked me out. I get it, she's six and we all would have done something similar but still.
Off the bat, it should be known I received an advanced copy of this book for review.
I've read a bunch of Lizzy Ford stories and thus far this one is no exception with regards to an interesting and original story line. This book is the prequel to an upcoming mini series and revolves around a young girl who is special. She can see ribbons in all objects, both living and inanimate and as a consequence has the ability to manipulate and bring things to life. She is well hidden by her parents who are afraid her abilities will get her noticed and taken away. Segregated by her abilities the girl does not have many friends (bar the ones she creates) and the gargoyle she meets and assists.
I'm not entirely sure where this new series will go, but I have no doubts it will be entertaining. On the whole I'm looking forward to this new series. However, the only down side to the story is the main character. The girl - Alessandra is depicted as being a kindergartener and in my country that's around 5 years of age. Her level of understanding and communication skills seem beyond a 5 year old. Not to mention she's left home alone, makes tea in the microwave and can create her own snacks. I'm all for independence and I understand that a girl in her circumstances might be precocious, yet all I could think about while reading is 'Would I have been able to do this as a 5 year old'.
Despite the aforementioned I would still definitely recommend this book to fans of fantasy and paranormal!
