Revenge of the Witches

My heart feels like it’s fallen from my chest and is lying somewhere on the cobblestones twenty paces from where I am.

Their offering was meant to restore magic to the Enkanti Tree—to protect their town. But when the Fae reject their offering, Eliana, Mallrie, Cyan, Chelsea and Tyler are left stranded beneath its ancient branches, surrounded by a horde of ravenous, flesh-eating Kailadons.

The Kailadon queen, ruthless and vengeful, is preparing for war, and time is running out. To save their town—and themselves—the witches must find an alternative to restoring the magic to the Enkanti Tree, all the while trying to break the bond that ties Eliana’s life to it.

Their only hope left?

Appealing to the Fates themselves.

But even they cannot weave a new Timeline without unravelling another.

I cannot believe this series is over. My heart is broken. This series will certainly stick with me. Mel has such a unique way of writing, blending Australian slang with the most relatable and heartbreaking prose. I am super excited to follow along with their future works.

I don't even know where to begin. Everything I mentioned in Rise of the Witches still stands. Mel created a refreshingly unique universe that felt so alive, so thoughtfully planned that it felt like we barely scratched the surface of the world outside of Datura. I will say it again: the monsters surrounding Datura are terrifyingly vivid. I thoroughly enjoyed the horror aspect; it wasn't forced or overdone, and it blended perfectly with the narrative. It was refreshing to have a romance, fantasy with horror vibes, it just works so perfectly. The Kailadons are for sure going to haunt me in my nightmares.

I followed these characters for over 1,000 pages, and they are probably one of the most well-written I have read in a long time. They are all so layered and complex, there is so much depth to every character, and there is so much representation that makes the reader feel seen and heard with their own struggles. Each character had a distinct thought pattern and monologue; their motivations and morals reflected their personal struggles that were presented in very real and different ways.

Mel did a wonderful job in being able to have multiple complex characters that were each exposed to different wrongdoings and/or trauma within their lives, and how that previous trauma resurfaces at different stages of life, how it's a never-ending battle of trust vs not trusting those around you, but ultimately, in the end, trusting yourself to trust others. The character development was top-tier. As soon as I opened the book, I noticed the parallel of Rise of the Witches, chapter one, to Revenge of the Witches, chapter one, and I knew this book would hit differently. Despite not getting a P.O.V chapter from our side elementals, their interactions were enough to form meaningful attachments.

There was not one moment I wasn't hooked to the story. There are so many emotions to unpack. I think that's what I really LOVE, it's real. You are going to have to fake it, be serious when you don't want to, you are going to do the wrong thing, you are going to make a mistake, you will get angry, it is going to hurt, but you know what? You keep going, and you try again.

I will ALWAYS recommend this series.

I have so much to say, I could keep rambling forever. I want to give a HUGE thank you to Mel for allowing me to be an ARC reader in exchange for an honest review. I'm super sad to be leaving these characters, but I'm happy I'll be able to see them again on my next re-read.

Revenge of the Witches

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This may be my first 6-star rating, like ever.

This story continues exactly where you left of in Rise of the Witches. Amid a fight when everything seems final and everything is going wrong; this found family perseveres through the thick of it. They go on an adventure to save one of their own and learn that the world is bigger than themselves and the little town of Datura.

These characters are beyond relatable; with their struggles, how they interact with one another and all the ways they go about their days. I can almost see myself in the book (minus the fact I would be that first character to die = no survival instincts ☠️).

In the last 100/50 pages this book had me balling over and over again, I was amazed I could still read. It makes you look at life a little different and think about things in a new light.

Tropes

✨ Magical consequences
🌶️ Spicy scenes
👨‍👨‍👧 Found family
⚔️ Enemies to lover's vibes
❤️‍🩹 Healing journey with a side of revenge

This book will have you laughing out loud with Eliana’s and Cyan’s witty comments to one another. It will have you calling Cyan a stupid idiot with his insufferable internal monologues, like get over it Cyan! 100% you will be angry at Mallrie (at least for a little bit). You may cry your heart out and feel like you have no more tears left to give, but I can say without a doubt this book gives you it's all.

You can get your hands on Revenge of the Witches on the 17th of April!

P.S................... After a few chapters (okay maybe only 1 chapter) I was like “Can he stop calling her love, I can't like Cyan but that's a *knees going week* moment....... But guess what, I like Cyan 🤷🏻‍♀️

P.S.S Mel, you are amazing and I cannot, literally from the bottom of my heart thank you enough for giving me a copy of this arc and Datura will forever live rent free in my head for life.

Another instant 5⭐️🙌🏼

This series has my heart and I’m so sad to see it finished!! I need moreeeeee.
The growth of Eliana through this series and her coming from “reeking of gin and terror” so becoming an absolute badass and building the most beautiful relationships. Finally a FMC I wasn’t rolling my eyes at continuously! 🤣

* Multiple POV
* Enemies? to lovers
* Found family
* Some good spice 🌶️
(Chapter 52 - “Fuck it” - enough said!!!!)
* Peanut butter cheeseburgers (still unsure about this one)
* Hesper & Winnie!!
* HEARTBREAK

This book was a lot darker, higher stakes, twists and turns and it was a great way to wrap things up!

642 wonderful pages - so happy to have a copy of this on my shelf as a trophy!!

The little town of Datura has a lot going on.
Eliana is unaware that her life is tied to the towns Enkanti Tree and some people close to her know but when will she find out??

The people in her corner embark on a journey to find answers to unlock 🔑 Eliana's life away from the tree. It doesn't necessarily work in the first deal with the Fae, so the journey must continue for the answer. Even if its found, its not guaranteed.

Datura also has Kailadons that appear after dark and feast on flesh. So let the journey begin.

Throw in a little humour, love and spice, magic, found family and side serve of revenge and your set!

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

SPICE: 🌶🌶🌶.5

Was lucky enough to receive an e-ARC and being a fan of the first two novels in this series... It took me out of a reading slump as I had been in one for the last few months.
Revenge takes us back to where rise finished and oh my gosh are we taken on a rollercoaster of emotions, turmoil and heartache (in the best way.)

I want more, need more and I wasn't ready to leave the world of Datura behind!

4/5 stars from me.

A Beautiful Finale

This book is a perfect ending to The Datura Chronicles. It perfectly encapsulates the magic of the first two books, and gives it a beautiful, emotional ending. Each character is brought to life perfectly, and their endings capture their personality and uniqueness.

I couldn't have imagined a better ending myself. It meets and surpasses all of my hopes and expectations for this final book.

Final book in series
Aussie Author!

I dont know how to talk about this book without any spoilers. But just know I was kicking my feet, Feral screeching and sobbing through this book.

Only reason it's not rated 5 is that a few bits felt slightly disjointed BUT I also read the prior book almost 2 years ago so that likely could have been a me think.

DEFINITELY RECCOMEND THIS SERIES!!

First of all, I'd like to say thank you to Mel for the early copy of Revenge of the Witches. This has been my most anticipated book of 2026! 🩷

I first met Mel in January 2025 at a signing convention. She was hard to miss, with her gorgeous bright blue hair! Little did I know, her books would soon become some of my favourites!

Once I had finished Rise of the Witches (book one), I knew I needed more. I became so obsessed with the dangerous world of Datura and it's addictive characters.

Along came Revenge of the Witches...
Oh, how I squealed when it popped up on my kindle! 🤭

Revenge of the Witches had me biting at my nails from start to finish.
It was darker and more gruesome than the first book, but I enjoyed every moment of it. 👀

I enjoyed diving deeper into each character and seeing different sides to each of them.
Of course, I had my favourite....
Drum roll please 🥁 I am a team Cyan girly 💁‍♀️

This book made me feel all kinds of emotions.
Despite being dark, it was also filled with a lot of witty one-liners, whole hearted moments, and lots of adventure. 🫶

I'm sad to say goodbye to the world of Datura, but I am grateful to have experienced it all 🥹💜

I can't wait to get my hands on the physical copy to complete the set!

Fellow readers, please add the Datura Chronicles to your TBRs. 🫶
