Pole Position by Derek Wolfe fires off the starting line with the roar of an F1 engine and never once eases off the throttle. Set deep inside the high‑pressure world of Ashford Racing, this step‑sibling romance blends adrenaline, sabotage, and slow‑burn chemistry into a story that feels as authentic as race‑day grit.

As an F1 fan, the worldbuilding hit perfectly. The terminology, the team dynamics, the behind‑the‑garage politics — it all felt lived‑in and real, like you’re standing on the pit wall with a headset on.

At the centre of the storm is Blake Ashford, the team owner’s daughter and the so‑called Ice Queen. She’s spent her whole life chasing her father’s approval, only to be treated like a spreadsheet entry rather than a daughter. Opposite her is Knox Covington, Ashford Racing’s star driver — reckless, magnetic, and addicted to pushing limits. Richard Ashford sees Knox as the engine of the team and Blake as the oil: necessary, but overlooked. That dynamic alone sets the stage for explosive friction.

And explosive it is.

Blake and Knox spark, clash, and collide with the kind of volatile chemistry that feels both dangerous and inevitable. Their connection builds slowly but intensely — electric, passionate, and charged with the kind of tension that makes you hold your breath. Knox sees Blake in a way no one else ever has, and Blake is one of the few people who can handle the full force of him.

Wolfe doesn’t just give us romance; he threads it through a world of espionage, rivalry, sabotage, and dirty tricks that keep the plot racing forward. The stakes feel high both on and off the track.

My only stumble was during the section involving Blake’s imprisonment — a moment where the pacing and clarity wobbled just enough to cost that final half‑star. But it didn’t derail my enjoyment.

Despite the step‑sibling setup, the romance never feels sleazy or forced. It’s acknowledged, but never used as shock value. Instead, the focus stays on who they are as people, not the technicality of their family tie.

The ending delivers a dramatic, satisfying HEA that left me eager to see where Blake and Knox go next — both as partners and as a power duo in the racing world.

Fast, dramatic, and emotionally charged, Pole Position is a must‑read for fans of high‑tension romance with a side of danger. Derek Wolfe has definitely earned a spot on my watchlist.

Pole Position was intense, addictive, and impossible to put down. The mix of F1 atmosphere, forbidden tension, and dark romance worked perfectly every interaction felt charged and emotional. I loved how the story balanced heat with strong pacing and real chemistry between the characters.

If you enjoy dark romance with high stakes, obsession, and a fast, cinematic vibe, this one absolutely delivers. Definitely worth the read.

I was hooked from the beginning. This book was absolutely incredible and I can’t wait for the next one. The angst, the steam, I could not put it down.
