As a person who works in IT departments, everything about this is absolutely the opposite of best practice. Now that that's out of the way, as a romance story fan, this was really fun toaster oven slow burn romance.
Sol is a fun ice queen character who thaws very slowly and grows to trust Katherin over time. "Katty" is a gay mess and crushing hard on her impenetrably remote boss. Heartwarming, sweet and with characters you want to root for. Honestly, there's nothing else I could possibly ask for to distract me in these trying times. Would recommend!
Cute setup, the boss/employee dynamic creates anticipation. Kathrin has a clear, endearing personality, and my favourite parts were the family banter, which were funny, wholesome, and warm. Overall it’s an easy, cute read.
That said, a few things didn’t fully click. I found the prose occasionally repetitive in word choice and phrasing, and the writing could use a bit more subtlety to let the tension unfold more indirectly.
As a software engineer, I also struggled a bit with some of the workplace and technical elements - it felt unrealistic.
Even if it didn’t land for me personally, it’s a good attempt as the author’s second novel. Looking forward to see how the author’s writing continues to grow in future books.
