The Heir to the Hollow is a gripping, action packed and emotionally layered fantasy with vampires, magic, the supernatural, two MMC’s, soul bonds, deep found family, destiny, prophecy, emotional depth and even familiars in the form of a pug and a bookstore cat. It is the type of book that pulls you in straight from the first chapter and lingers on your mind long after.

Set in a gothic atmosphere it follows Seraphina who starts out as an anxiety riddled girl grieving the disappearance of her mother. Early on she uncovers files that lead her on a journey of discovering herself, her power and the world she belongs to. Alongside her are not one but two MMCs, an unshakable group of friends and two emotional support animals.

Our first MMC, Nikolai, is a broody heir to the vampire throne. Defined by self control and strength, he is initially burdened with the obligation of carrying out his fathers power hungry and unethical plans to watch and eventually capture Seraphina. The second MMC, Silas, is a protective and selfless dreamwalking guardian trapped in a different realm. This was my first MMF romance and it was a refreshing difference from my norm. Intense, emotionally charged and nuanced, the bond between them was beautifully written and balanced within the story.

I loved the writing style and pacing of the book, its action packed and somewhat fast paced but not lacking in depth or detail. It’s the type of book that keeps you on the edge of your seat; easy to get lost in and hard to put down.

I really appreciated how well developed and immersive the world building was. There’s even an addendum at the end with details and lore, and a few pictures sprinkled throughout the pages. Paired with descriptive writing, the story was easy to visualize and explore. I am a big fan of extra lore and this book delivered exactly that and left so many seeds of more yet to come.

I also really liked the found family and how it grows and solidifies throughout the story. It was wholesome and unshakable even under extreme circumstances and there were so many characters I fell in love with by the end of the book.

I have to warn, there is a huge twist in the final chapters that I didn’t see coming at all, and it ended on a gut wrenching cliff hanger with just enough hints to leave your head spinning with theories!

"Child of my blood, if these words find you, remember: the Hollow Veil is no prison. It is hunger. And hunger always wakes."

This is the type of book you should fully prepare to binge read. Once I started reading, I could not put this book down! This story is filled to the brim with action and mystery, and each page leaves you with more questions you are dying to have answered immediately.

Seraphina is hilarious; she's witty, sarcastic, self-deprecating at times and her crass one liners had me laughing out loud. She has a farty little dog, a crazy best friend named Liv, and multiple love interests who guide her through her journey of self-discovery and truth seeking. The magic and lore in this story are unique and vast, and the way the characters group together like a stitched together family with Sera as the centerpiece is beautifully done.

This book moves quickly, so there were times I had a hard time keeping up and had to backtrack a few pages to make sure I didn't miss critical information. The ending leaves so many openings for future books, and I sure as heck hope book 2 is coming out soon. I have questions, and I need answers 😄 Note: I absolutely loved the way that Jessica added a guide at the back of the book that explained all of the lore in depth, which soothed a lot of my burning need for answers immediately. If you're like me and want to know every little thing, don't skip this section - it's meaty and explains so much of the book.

Tropes:

✨Funny best friend
✨Sidekick pets
✨Magical intrigue
✨Found family
✨Unique lore
✨Fated mates
✨MMF romance

All in all, I loved this book, and I will be anxiously awaiting Silas's novella and the next book in this series. Thank you for sharing an ARC with me Jessica & Fable & Fern Literary Co.!

Disclaimer: the romance in this book is spicy 🌶️, so be prepared for some erotic scenes that will have your eyes popping out of your head. Don't say I didn't warn you 🤫

Spoiler free!

I was graciously given the opportunity to ARC read this in exchange for my honest review. PSA this book has already been released as of January 20,2026, however due to sickness and some personal circumstances I got behind on my review.

First and foremost, the writing to me personally was so elegant yet flowy and easy to read. I noticed minor typos and grammatical errors, and there was a little bit of information was a bit repetitive and over used (typically within one chapter) Once I got settled down to read it, I flew through it like crazy. It’s such a unique story a that definitely pulled me in. Seraphina is such a relatable character especially with her anxiety, and it was so nice to watch her overcome it. I was taken back but how that happens but it was still really nice nonetheless.

The romance was something else. For me personally it was the perfect blend of second chance, and slow burn. Also keep in mind that this is MMF, which I personally love. Nik (vampire) and Silas (shadow daddy) are literally perfect MMCs but then again I’m a sucker for both types of MMCs. Teehee. As much as Nik presents as a broody dominant male…he also gave me German shepherd vibes. A protector and an absolute cinnamon roll when needed. He and Silas are true yearners and I LOVE IT.

I definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to see where to author goes from here!

Absolute masterpiece and holy emotional roller coaster. From the first page I was sucked into the story and didn’t want to stop reading. The world building, magic, lore, erased and found memories, familiars(who doesn’t love a good familiar), the supernatural, soul bounds/mates, is top tier and had me lost for words. The secrets and lies kept from Sera by those closest to her had me wanting to slap the characters when they used the it’s for your protection speech to justify their actions. Sera started off a little unsure of herself but man did she blossom into a truly magical, strong, capable badass FMC that we all love. Nikolai one of the MMC is death to all except those he loves. Silas another MMC is the man and his nickname for the fmc had me grinning every time he said it. The way they support each other and love each other through everything is beautiful to watch unfold. Lots of twists and turns in this book. The spicy scenes were perfection and don’t take away from the plot.
The author’s words come to life on the page and I need a few moments to recover after finishing it. If you love The Legacy Series and supernatural you will love this book even more! If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. Thank you Jessica Lea for this wonderful book and allowing me an ARC copy.

Thank you to @fableandfernlitco for the eARC of this book!

From the moment I read the blurb I was intrigued with the mysteries surrounding Sera our FMC, and the hidden realm called the Hollow Veil. Unlike most Romantasy novels I have read, I really liked that this one took place in our human world while still having a gothic/magical feel to it. We follow Sera as she tries to find her missing mother which leads her on a journey filled with secrets, erased memories, and powers she didn’t know she had.

My only critique is that I found myself slightly confused when the author would go from dreams to reality. I felt myself having to read passages over a couple of times to truly understand what was happening.

Our characters ❤️The poetic one. The cursed heiress. And the heart.

Why have 1 fated mate when you can have 2? Did I mention that one’s a vampire (Nik) and the other is a literal SHADOW DADDY (Silas)! The bond between these three is just heartbreakingly beautiful and perfect! But that ending…. Jessica Lea has some explaining to do!

I am interested to see where this series goes and will continue to support this Indie Author!

Tropes: Found family, he falls first, MMF romance, familiars/animal companions, magical awakening, prophecy and lore, fated mates

"I would give everything to see you rise again. I would walk into the Hollow Veil a thousand times if it meant you or Nik lived to see the sun. My love...this is my vow to you. If I fall, let it be for you."

I received a copy of this book as an ARC from the author and Fable & Fern Literary Co. and am SO grateful that I did because it's been one of the best ones I've read in the last few months! Heir to the Hollow is an urban fantasy that follows FMC Seraphina on her journey of self discovery and truth, power, and her true place within a magical world. The writing is fantastic and pulls you in immediately with the wit, banter and relatable characters. How can you not love a gassy pug and sassy yet wickedly badass Southern belle? The pacing was excellent, as the plot is unique, action packed and very easy to become immersed in, easily making this book one of my favorite ARCs.

The characters are relatable, lovable (and rage inducing in the case of Nik's poor excuse of a father), and have so much depth, which only adds to the superbly descriptive writing and world building. Not only is there ample background provided for our characters, the cliffhanger ending and delicious spice also enhances the storyline, beautifully tying Sera, Silas and Nik together.

Overall, excellent book, highly recommended, and I can't wait to read the next one!

Heir to the Hollow is a darkly immersive romantasy that blends gothic atmosphere, supernatural intrigue, and emotionally charged relationships with confident worldbuilding. Jessica Lea creates a vivid divide between the familiar world and the Hollow Veil, balancing danger, desire, and destiny with ease.

Seraphina Lachlan’s journey from anxiety and loss to awakening power is compelling and emotionally grounded, while the romantic tension between Nik and Silas adds depth rather than distraction. The novel leans into shadowy fantasy and psychological stakes, delivering a fast-paced, unsettling conclusion that lingers long after the final page.

A strong opening to a series, this book will especially appeal to readers who enjoy dark romance, layered magic systems, and morally complex characters.

This was an interesting read with a lot of potential, but it didn’t fully come together for me. The concept and world had promise, and I liked the darker atmosphere, but the story needed more development overall. I often felt like things were happening to the characters rather than being fully explored.

The romance, in particular, felt rushed. I wanted more buildup and emotional depth before it reached certain milestones, because it made it harder to fully invest in the relationship. Toward the end, there was also a section that felt repetitive and didn’t really move the story forward, which slowed the pacing at a point where I was hoping for stronger momentum.

That said, there are some good ideas here, and I think with more depth and refinement this could have been much stronger. I'm hoping that there is more development in the next story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ARC review of Heir to the Hollow by Jessica Lea. This is such a fun romantasy. It blends mystery and adventure really well, with just the right amount of tension and magic. Seraphina is a great female main character, especially with her being half fae and slowly uncovering secrets about who she really is. Nikolai is a hot vampire prince with an obsession. Silas is a mysterious guardian. They all feel an intense connection to each other. This love triangle is special. There is one spicy scene in this book that will make you blush. Overall, it is an engaging story that feels perfect for fans of magical worlds, destiny, and romance with a little edge ✨

Whoa! Who said a FMC couldn't have 2 MMCs? First we have Nikolai an heir to a vampire throne and then we have Silas the shadow daddy! Sera is hilarious and made me laugh so many times and the bond between the 3 are just whoa!!! The scenes are perfection and don't take away from the plot. Sera is trying to find her mother and it leads her on a journey that is filled with secrets, erased memories and discovering her powers. This is a fast paced book with a cliffhanging that leaves you wanting more! Thank you Jessica Lea for my copy of an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Holy moly hold onto your hats everyone and get ready for an amazing ride! If you like why choose with some sword crossing this is your book.
When our female main character Sera finds herself face to face with a forgotten childhood friend, she’s faced with forgotten memories and a sudden annoyance with Nik.
Nik when he see Sera everything clicks into place for him. There’s not a place he wouldn’t go or a person he wouldn’t kill to protect what’s his.
While in the Hallow Silas finds himself in an interesting position. Feeling the pull towards Sera and Nik, Silas reaches them in their dreams. He’s there when they need him most both consciously and subconsciously.
This book has everything you love in a romantasy and crave with a shadow daddy. Be ready to drop everything and binge read this book!

When I started this book it was so interesting and I was here for it. Seraphina has problems with her memory her whole life. She has forgotten her past and when she see’s Nikolai she recognizes him, but can’t remember him.
Such a good beginning and until the middle of the book I was so in it. The book starts getting too many complicated problems back to back. I really want to give this a higher rating. I am giving it a 3.5 stars rating but Goodreads doesn’t to half’s. 2 chili peppers.

This is a great story - we have generational family secrets, found love, death, familiars, vampires, a FMM relationship that all three would burn for each other, an eternal jail that wants to let the bad guy out, friends also that would die for each other.

It is the first in a series - and I cannot wait for the second book to come out!

Heir to the Hollow completely pulled me into its world from the very first chapter!
This book is such a rich blend of dark romantasy, supernatural intrigue, and fated bonds with enough mystery and emotion to keep you hooked all the way through.

Seraphina Lachlan is such a compelling main character — smart, determined, and brave in the face of secrets that have shaped her whole life. Her journey searching for answers about her mother’s disappearance drew me in immediately, and I loved how her path gradually unfolded into something far bigger and more dangerous than she ever expected.

The dynamics between Seraphina, Nikolai Duskovar, the vampire king’s son sent to watch her, and Silas the mysterious guardian who walks in her dreams were so intense and layered. There’s passion, tension, and that pull of destiny that made me feel their connection — plus all the underlying secrets that keep you guessing who she can trust.

If you love romantasy with fated bonds, supernatural politics, and slow‑burn love triangles, this novel delivers. It balances the emotional arc with enough mystery that I was turning pages to see what would happen next. I’m already eager for the next installment in The Hollowblood Chronicles!

Highly recommended for readers who enjoy dark fantasy romance with deep worldbuilding and characters you can root for. 💜

I was pulled into this book and its exceptional world from the first couple of pages. It is fast-paced and engaging. The lore attached to the story was well-explained and different from any I have read before. There is a unique combination of supernatural beings, from vampires to fae, familiars, and a supernatural governing body that is shrouded in mystery. I was immediately emotionally invested in the FMC and the mystery surrounding her missing mother. Her character's journey and transformation from battling anxiety to finding her own power were absolutely beautiful. I loved the MMC’s in the story. They are both mysterious and completely invested in our FMC and their group’s world-transcending bond. If you love multiple MMC’s,soul-bonds/mates, and touch her and die tropes, this book is for you! The ending left me on the edge of my seat, and I can’t wait to see what comes next for these characters!
