Rate this book
A riveting novel of espionage, betrayal, and the power of redemption.

Perfect for readers who love The Little Drummer Girl with the investigative tension of A Spy Among Friends, the cold-burn intelligence of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, and the psychological edge of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

A terrorist attack shatters a young woman’s life, thrusting her into a conspiracy set in motion before she was born. Haunted by the loss of his family, a teenage boy searches for the truth behind his father’s death—only to uncover a hidden world darker than he ever imagined.
On opposite continents, two seasoned spies—burdened by betrayal, loss, and the weight of their past—struggle to find the courage to make things right, clinging to the fragile hope of redemption.
Their paths converge in a world of shadows and deception, where trust is dangerous and truth is never simple. From quiet villages to crowded cities, from military compounds to urban battlegrounds, they race to expose a plot that could reshape the future—and reveal the true cost of loyalty.

The Moscow Circuit is a sharp, intelligent thriller that leans more into espionage and conspiracy than nonstop action, and it really works in its favor. From the start, there’s a sense that everything is connected, and the story gradually peels back layers instead of rushing to the surface.
Raya is a strong lead. What begins as something personal quickly turns into a much larger fight, and her determination to understand what really happened keeps the momentum going. She’s not written as invincible, which makes her journey feel more grounded and believable.
What stood out most to me was the scope of the conspiracy. It feels carefully constructed, with ties across governments and intelligence networks, and the idea that something like this could stay hidden for decades adds a chilling edge. The shifting perspectives from operatives to those trying to contain the fallout help build tension without losing clarity.
The pacing is more measured than explosive, but it suits the tone. It gives the story room to develop its intrigue and lets the stakes build naturally.
Overall, I’d recommend this to readers who enjoy thoughtful, slow burn spy thrillers with a strong conspiracy at the center. It’s engaging, well structured, and keeps you thinking about how deep the truth really goes.

I have just finished The Moscow Circuit and really enjoyed it. I'm actually a bit of a newbie to the world of spy thrillers, and as someone who has trouble following the plot of an episode of Frasier, it took a while to get used to the bracing pace of the story and to the need to assimilate constant snippets of presumably vital information. Then on page 337 I had an epiphany, as Neshad reflected on "a mission built on gaps and shadows, pulling together people who barely know one another, each holding fragments of the truth." Nobody knows what's really going on, even the key protagonists in the story, and that's the point!

With the knowledge that I had a kindred spirit in the Mossad, I realized how well I had been drawn into the world these protagonists inhabited. Reassured, I wanted to see how the pieces fit together - and I loved it. It was a brilliant tale and I am a convert. Best of all, the narrative cleverly set the scene for another volume (or a second Hollywood season) of adventures... and I am looking forward to that.

The Moscow Circuit by M. D. Hansen is a character driven spy thriller that explores the machinery of espionage rather than simple heroics.
A terrorist attack shatters a young woman’s life, pulling her into a conspiracy set in motion long before she was born. Meanwhile, a teenage boy searching for answers about his father’s death uncovers a hidden world of intelligence networks and dangerous secrets. On separate continents, two experienced spies haunted by betrayal and past failures struggle with the weight of unfinished business.
As their paths intersect, they are drawn into a high stakes race to uncover a plot that could alter the global balance of power. In a world ruled by surveillance, shifting loyalties, and hard choices, the true cost of truth becomes clear.
Smart, layered, and suspenseful, The Moscow Circuit delivers intrigue, emotional depth, and plenty of twists for fans of classic espionage fiction.
