Freedom was in my hands…until a tall, dark, and dangerous faerie kidnapped me.
You’d think living in an abusive household with an arranged marriage looming over me would be better than getting snatched off the streets and tossed in a cage.
You’d be wrong.
Castor’s nightmarish palace may be wrought with monsters, but when he—the king among them—kneels before me, calls me his, and tells me I may take the still-beating heart from his chest if I desire it, I know exactly which prison I prefer.
I’ll always choose literal bars, found family, and obsession hinging on the brink of madness over my mother’s clutches.
Because while this might not quite be freedom, it definitely is becoming home.
Falling in Love with My Unseelie Kidnapper is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy with light fantasy elements, neurodivergent characters, and plenty of closed-door sizzle without the spice.
Camilla Evergreen is an alias of USA Today bestselling author Anne Stryker. Originally intended as a dumping ground for all things lacking fantasy, Camilla/Anne came to the shocking discovery that writing sarcastic, chaotic romcoms full of quippy heroines and adoring heroes has a kick to it.
Camilla/Anne’s neurodivergent tendencies leave her hyperfocused on writing sweet and sassy romances from dawn till dusk and lending whatever her current creative obsessions are to her characters. From arranged marriages to falling for the boss, there’s lots of love to go around.
Falling in Love with My Unseelie Kidnapper by Camilla Evergreen is a dark romance that just makes you squeal.
Though this book says dark romance, there was so much light coming from it. The dark storm clouds were broken apart and the beautiful sun shined through. It was beautiful, seeing the leaps and bounds each of our main characters took to become whole again, not for anyone else, but for themselves. This book could technically read as a standalone you don't really achieve the beauty unless all 5 books are read before this one, you will really appreciate the MMC's character arc before. The romance was beautiful, the antics of each of the characters was beautiful and lovable, the pain was palpable. I loved the lesson Camilla brought to this, forgiveness takes action. And maybe all of those horrible thoughts you thought about yourself, maybe no one else is thinking it. Escaping abu3e, escaping tr4ma, escaping the dark inner thoughts of yourself, is not easy. But Camilla makes it so beautiful.

This (Para)Normal series is tough, tough in the way that we are battling with not fitting in society like a "normal" person would... and we are wrong for it. Wrong for being not normal, wrong for not fitting in, and wrong for just everything about you. This series makes you read through this men and women characters inner thoughts of "not being enough." And it's done so beautifully, so respectfully, and so well done it makes you cry, it makes you uncomfortable, it makes you hurt (in a good way) and I wouldn't have it any other way. Getting better isn't easy and you can bleed for it, you cry over it, but it needs to be done. One quote I just love from this book was "You may never be wholly good, but you are forgivable." Gosh.
If you want your whole soul to be wrecked in a good way this is the series for you.
Finally!! Castor has arrived and the That’s (Para)Normal series is complete. It started with a vampire cat, followed through with a chihuahua shifter, moth prince, man of nightmares and a tiny bat, to end with a beautiful, dangerous and unhinged basilisk, So, this book can be read as a standalone but to truly appreciate Castor and his full background story, it’s better to read the whole series.
Let’s be clear, this is definitely a dark romance. The others were softer and fluffier but Castor IS and always will be a villain. However, he does have good qualities, he sometimes shows remorse and he would literally burn the world down for his soulmate Danielle. He kidnaps her from the human world, from her truly abusive mother and brings her to the realm of Faerie. He keeps her in a large cage, albeit decked out in splendour and provides her with everything she needs. This is for her own safety as we all know what basilisks can do if you meet their gaze. Therefore he remains blindfold around her, he won’t risk the woman he loves for anything.
I liked Danielle, she was broken and vulnerable having spent years being controlled and manipulated by her mother but slowly, she learns to stand on her own two feet, something Castor both desires and fears. Desire to see her happy, fear she won’t need him and leave.
I love Castor so much. Yes he is wicked and has done some terrible things in his past but even he deserves his redemption arc and I loved watching him get it. His friends supported him in the end (I doubt they ever really stopped) and he got his beautiful girl.
I don’t even know where to begin. This book… is redemption, and villainy, and learning to love people and yourself exactly where you are. It’s about rebirth in so many different ways. It’s a beautiful conclusion to a captivating series.
Danielle is new on the scene — an online friend of Zahra’s, she’s escaping a life that has been restrictive for her in every way, and longs for freedom.
Castor we’ve come to know over the past few books. He’s complicated — dark and angsty, but also charming and sweet. He makes dinosaur pancakes with strawberry spikes. He can’t be all bad, right?
Their path to happily ever after is a little bit of a rocky slope, and they certainly have some preferences and desires I don’t identify with, but their love for each other is pure. The found family we’ve all come to love is present and supportive, and Camilla’s dismantling of common toxic tropes is masterful as ever. I laughed out loud, I cried more than once, and I was fully immersed until I could come up for air.
Recommended for adult audiences only — content is clean (no swears or sex) but themes are dark and there’s a liiiittle bit of a sadistic twist in some parts of their relationship. Not graphic, but not what I’d hand to a young teen either.
If you’ve read the first five books of the That’s (para) Normal series, then you know a little bit about Castor already. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book packed with this much hope. Of course, read the author’s note, and if you don’t think this one’s for you, maybe wait on reading it. However, what you will learn about Castor through Dani’s eyes will make so much sense. I cannot stress enough how much I love this book. So go grab it and watch Castor discover what love is, and what it can be.
That was utterly & incomprehensibly beautiful. Reams of self-love, acceptance, forgiveness, and inexplicable peace soar throughout the pages.
My soul was caged with harsh words & set free with revelations of heartfelt warmth so deep that my bars melted in quiet softness over the course of pages turned one after the others.
The way that the found family bonding trickled, no, gushed, joy into my heart has me full to overflowing.
I absolutely adored Falling in Love with My Unseelie Kidnapper. I haven’t read the rest of the series yet, but after this one, I definitely will be. It gives strong Beauty and the Beast vibes with a touch of Medusa except the “monster” is our main male character, full of yearning, sweetness, and just a little bit unhinged in the best way. I loved him.
I loved the atmosphere. The dark castle drenched in moonlight felt so enchanting. The magic woven throughout the story, the fae elements, the eerie beauty of it all it was everything I want in a fantasy. I especially loved that Castor can sense Danielle’s emotions and she can sense his. That emotional connection added so much depth. The fantasy elements were just perfect.
At its heart, this story is about healing.
Danielle is trying to overcome the emotional abuse inflicted by her mother, and through Castor, she begins to learn something powerful: love is not something you earn. It’s not something you prove yourself worthy of. You are enough exactly as you are. Being loved is not based on performance.
Castor offers her unconditional love. He will love her at her worst. He will love her at her best. He will love her through her mistakes. There is nothing she can do to make that love disappear. She is not responsible for earning it he chooses her, freely and without strings attached. That message was so beautiful and heartwarming.
And Castor… he is trying so hard to be better.
He struggles deeply with the mistakes in his past. He believes he is bad, unworthy, unforgivable, unredeemable. His greatest fear is that everyone will leave him — that he will never truly be good. He’s afraid that even when he tries, he’ll fail. He doesn’t always show love traditionally . He feels alone in that fear until Danielle.
Through her, he learns that he deserves love too. That he can forgive himself. That he can grow. She doesn’t leave when he struggles. She stays while he’s trying to become better. He is messy. He is flawed. But he is trying. And he asks her not to give up on him while he figures it out.
They are both healing. Both learning that they are enough exactly as they are.
Love is stronger than fear. Forgiveness is a gift. You are worthy. You are loved.
I loved this story. I loved Castor’s character growth. I loved that at its core, this book says: You deserve love. You deserve forgiveness. No matter how messy you are. No matter how many mistakes you’ve made. You can choose to grow. You can choose to learn. You belong exactly where you are.
And it’s okay to take your time.
You are loved exactly as you are.
Highlights: • Soulmates • “Touch her and die” energy • Protective MMC who takes care of her • Dark fantasy atmosphere • Fae elements • Humor • Sweet, tender moments 🥺 • Found family • The yearning
This book is achingly, devastatingly, absolutely beautiful, and it concludes the “Falling in Love With” series. Don’t fret, though, this author has created herself this exquisite universe in which all things are possible, so there is always more goodness to come.
Castor is a basilisk, who, for the uninitiated, can turn people to stone just by looking at them. Over the centuries, the people he was closest to, the ones he called family, turned their backs on him. That alone could wreck a person, and Castor fell right into that pit.
Recently, though, his soulmate appeared. Not sure why he didn’t detect her sooner; maybe it was just the universe making sure everything was in the right place at the right time. In any case, he now knows exactly where she is, and he’s going to bring her home.
Danielle has been controlled by her mother for her entire life. From an early age, Dani was beautiful, and her mother knew she had herself a cash cow. Everything was regulated by her mother — her weight (too thin), her social life (none), and her loyalty. Never mind all the people who groped her while she was a model. And now her mother is selling her off to some disgusting rich guy. That’s the final straw, and she manages to escape, but has nowhere to go.
Thankfully (I use that term cautiously), Castor finds her, and takes her back to the land of fae.
Now, if you haven’t been reading this series, you may find yourself a bit lost. I’m not going to explain the whole backstory, but for context, I will say that Dani already knows a couple of people who are fae.
Castor is not a hero. But I wouldn’t call him a villain, either. He straddles the line, existing in that gray area between the ends of the spectrum. He’s done good things, and he’s done bad things, but the one thing he won’t give up is Dani. He wants to find a cure for his “condition”, so that he may look upon his beloved without, you know, turning her into stone.
This journey is not for the faint of heart. This book is clean, but it is not for everyone. It’s a dark story, because our protagonist is dark, not only in thought, but in the reality of his circumstances. He is complicated and mercurial and loving and kind and angry and lonely. Like most people, he’s not just one thing.
I do love dark romance, and if you want something dark but without the steamy, spicy stuff, you’ll do well here. The author knows how to weave a story, and how to keep track of all of the events that have led to this book. We all have darkness and light within us, and we all can choose what to do with those sides of ourselves. And really, isn’t that the truth of freedom? The power to choose? So get this book, or don’t. But if you don’t, you’re missing out.
Oh my Castor… Castor my love. I have adored this darkly disturbed basilisk boy since I first met him in Camilla’s stories and have long wanted for him to finally find a soulmate of his own.
Though he is deliciously devious and delightful he definitely is not a character for someone who stays either the fluffier side of Romantasy or spicy… because he is decidedly neither of those. Up until this book we see more of Castor’s dark and jealousy-ridden and lonely-hearted side… the one that makes very poor choices.
But now that he has found his soulmate, kidnapped her and locked her in a ginormous gilded birdcage in his bedroom, he’s all dark romance, and yeah, he’s in a very dark place when this goes down.
Can he find acceptance within himself enough to break his own curse, or will he be forced to always wear blindfolds and stay apart from his love to keep from ever laying eyes upon her, turning her another stone statue to torment him?
There is no spice, but Castor’s depraved imagination runs deeper than I thought Camilla would ever go and it is decidedly unhealthy how far he pushes. It certainly had me blushing, and while I’ve read a few darker stories, dang if Castor hasn’t had me wondering if I should give dark romance another try…
Our female lead certainly goes through a few name changes, but she seems such a fragile being at first that I am surprised Castor doesn’t accidentally hold so hard that he crushes her. But Danielle is made of much sterner stuff than you’d think, and to watch her come into her own is beautiful. Her reveal isn’t a huge secret, as there are several clues left about, and I love how their live comes around full circle.
And for Castor… I could cry I was so happy for him by the end. I am so glad that he has become Camilla’s assistant, because that means he lives on beyond the written pages of a book! Of course, you’ll have to sign up for Camilla’s free newsletter to enjoy his wit and humor.
A beautiful end for the (para)normal series, but it’s always possible the author may find something new in this world.
Oh, and all our favorite character/couples from previous books in the series made cameo appearances, so, yay! There is even a teensy Easter Egg in the epilogue for Citrus from Camilla’s fun book Heart Events With The Forbidden Farmer Next Door (don’t you just love her overly description and odd titles)?
Camilla Evergreen books truly are in a category all of their own. Castor and Dani's story is undeniably a dark romance. He kidnaps her, keeps her in a cage, there's stabbing and a dark past... all the things you expect to see in that genre... and yet, there is also this perfect mix of lightness that somehow makes it feel just as sweet as it is dark. Truly, I don't know how she pulls it off, and yet, she does... every single time. That said, it's still certainly not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and I'd definitely recommend reading the author's note prior to reading to decide if it's for you. But for those of us who have always felt... well, not quite normal... there's something really refreshing about this series as a whole. It so perfectly touches on mental health and neurodivergent minds within this fun fantasy world that feels welcoming and unique. It's a series that will make you laugh one moment and bring you to tears the next. While I'm a bit sad to see this series end, Castor's story takes it out on a high note that I couldn't help but enjoy!
Falling in Love with My Unseelie Kidnapper is a closed-door romance with kisses only, though there is some innuendo and talk of sex, as well as minimal minor language. It is the sixth and final book in the That's (Para)normal series. While you might be able to read this as a standalone, I personally wouldn't recommend it. Camilla has created quite a unique world in this series, with each book giving us a little more understanding of things in this world work. As such, I can imagine it would be very difficult to fully understand both this world and the various relationship dynamics without having read the prior books.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
First off, this is for the villain girlies. The ones who look at red flags and arson and get hearts in their eyes if the red flags and arson mean the villain's one true love is being taken care of. There is an entire prologue dedicated to the fact that this book is dark, and completely *fantasy*. I mean...he's a basilisk that can turn people to stone with his gaze. The fact that he expresses his romantic intentions by putting her in a cage and they're both stabby should be the least of your worries. That said, it *is* still kisses only, no swearing, no spicy scenes (closed door or otherwise). So, a sweet, clean, dark, fantasy romcom!
Camilla is one of those authors that I trust to deal with difficult topics, and this book falls firmly into that category. You learn about Dani's past, and the way she was affected by the choices being made for her, and it's really not pretty. Castor has the opposite problem - he has nearly 2,000 years of learning and trying and making a LOT of mistakes, not all of which he feels bad about. (Oh, yeah - there's a bit of an age gap there. haha) In the end, both Castor and Dani learn and grow and become more fully *themselves*, and it's stunning. This is also a great wrap-up to the series. You get to see all of the characters from the first five books, and how all of them interact together, and it's just lovely.
Book 6 in a series that I have loved; it has been much anticipated, longed for, and patiently waited for. And, I can say, it absolutely lived up to the hype, and was 100% worth the wait. I will not pretend to hide the tears this book caused me to shed, both for the amazing growth so well depicted by the author, as well as the "it is done" sadness at the end. This book left me in a book coma of the best possible ways, and I want to reread it for the first time immediately. As always with this author, readers should read the author's note before starting and make a good decision about if this book is for them. This is a villain story - Castor is not a saint, and he has not made a perfect recovery. However, I loved that his girlie is absolutely the perfect fit for him, and the extent he goes to in order to protect and care for her is absolutely wonderful. If you are someone who can sympathize with a villain, is willing to look past a rough past and care about a dark character. I think maybe technically this book could be read as a stand alone, but I think it will be far better enjoyed with knowledge of the whole found family, so I'd recommend you start with book 1 of the series. But do start. It's absolutely worth it. I read an early version, and I have been eager for others to get the chance to enjoy this book ever since!
PLEASE read the author note/trigger warnings before reading this book. Although it is still a romcom at its heart, it is definitely of the dark variety. This story is much darker than I usually read but I knew I needed Castor’s story. What I found is dark and twisty tale that brings love and acceptance into the light. The ultimate message I got from this unseelie kidnapper is that no one is too far gone to love or be loved.
Castor and Dani’s love is pain and pleasure, hate and love, fire and ice. They both have so much hurt and self-hatred to overcome. Castor is surprisingly insightful. He understands a great deal about the human condition, and even though he’s a “dark being”, he shows mercy, care, and kindness to others so seemingly effortlessly. Dani has been dealt a terrible hand in life and only through Castor’s love and care is she able to fully realize her potential. The found family is so strong in this story. Castor is surrounded by people who love him, even if they don’t always love tolerating him. Dani easily finds her place amongst the ragtag crew and builds a new life.
Favorite funny moments: Frelsi - She is pure chaos embodied in a tiny, cute pixie. Castor’s Pandemonium. All hail King Castor. The shoulder conversation between Dani and Zahra 😂
This is the 6th and final (?) book in the That’s (Para) Normal series. Seriously…read the author note first.
I believe this book cements me as a full-on, unashamed villain girlie. I expect my membership card for the Villain Protection Program in the mail any day now. If you, too, are a villain aficionado, look no further than Castor.
Castor, as is true to his character, kidnaps Dani and takes her home to his castle in faerie to get her (his soulmate) to spend eternity with him. Although, he does forget to tell her they are soulmates for a while.... Dani is surprisingly cool with these events, given that she has been through some pretty sucky years in her life so far. Why be upset about the new gilded cage? It's just a little more visible than her last one.
It's pretty hard to read about all the things poor Danielle has had to put up with in her past. Castor does a very good job of keeping her safe while she processes and adjusts to her new cage/freedom. And adjust she does, healing herself along the way.
In true Camilla Evergreen fashion, the hero (villain) is obsessive in all the cutest ways, the found family is at peak acceptance, and the character growth is difficult, but oh-so-worth it.
I am so sad the series is over, but Castor's book is definitely a beautiful story of accepting your past, and finding love where you are now.
Thank you to the author for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
I was ecstatic to see that Camilla was finally writing Castor’s story and that I got the honor of reading the ARC for it!
Before I go any further, I will say this is a Darker romance with the perceived Villian of the group. I say perceived because you’ll find out if you read 🤫 but that being said, Camilla does a great job of writing warnings at the beginning of the book so be sure to check those out.
As always, I love how Camilla’s characters each go through their own emotional growth and development and also encourage one another.
Castor’s story was especially special to me because we have been getting glimpses Castor from the beginning books of the series. It’s also so fun to see the backstory of “villains” and how they’ve come to believe different things about themselves and how they can continue to grow.
Heather was an interesting surprise for me. I wasn’t sure what to expect of Castor’s significant other but she was perfect. I loved getting to see her evolve and even push Castor.
I’m so sad this series has come to an end but I’m excited for what is next, especially with Alice 👀👀
You’ll like this book if you like.. 🖤 dark romance 🐦🔥 paranormal / fantasy books 🎭 villains backstories
Really, seriously, read the warnings before you get this book to be sure that it is for you. It is definitely the darkest of all of the That’s (Para) Normal series, but it is also just as good as the rest of them.
Even villains deserve a soulmate, and Castor’s soulmate is Danielle - so, of course, he kidnaps her and keeps her in a very luxurious, very large birdcage. He locks her in the birdcage to protect her from himself, because if his blindfold slips, he might turn her into stone, as he has done to many people over the years, both on purpose and by accident. Dani is desperate to escape from her controlling and abusive mother and her despised career as a model. But when she runs away from all of this, she gets into worse trouble trying to survive until Castor kidnaps her and keeps her in the land of the fae.
The resulting story is both hilarious and heart-wrenching. These two characters both feel so unloved at the beginning of the story and then develop this great love for each other, and they also realize that their found family love them as well. Castor grows so much as a character from the beginning of the series to this final book.
Even though all the books are standalone this is what we where building up to ahh Castor our darling Villain of our story okay he's a kidnapper surely he is the bad guy right? As always there are two side to the story and those delightful shades of grey.
We meet Dani who has finally escaped her horrendous past and an even more awful arranged marriage so obviously we celebrated that she was free for her to get kidnapped by Castor. But please do not think that he isn't absolutely obsessed with her and would do anything for her even if it was his heart from his chest if that would please her. Castor's abilities include turning people to stone when he gazes upon them. So definitely no peaking under his blindfold. He might be a villain but he wants to do better for Dani. It's a lesson in learning who you are, what you deserve and not letting the past cloud your future.
These books have paranormal creatures but they so hit you in the gut with emotions, it's about mental health to and it really does make you look at things different. Don't get me wrong Camilla will have you laughing at so many points with her fantastic sense of humor as well. I could not put this down i devoured it all in one day
Very important, the warnings should be heeded. This is not a children’s book and I would say not a young adult book either. That is in the trigger warnings and Author’s Note, but here I am saying it again.
There is lots of trauma from past events and current inner turmoil. There is a lot of harm in here, either from the past or a self-inflicted type of desire to prove something.
Castor finally has his story. He finally finds love and learns to love completely with his soulmate. He not only has his character development, but also is accepted and loved and finds his found family that he didn’t realize he actually had for some time now. Dani, is the icing on the cake and a catalyst for great change and rebirth. Their love is beyond obsessive, it is toxic, but apparently that’s what they both needed to feel love because of the torture they have endured.
I loved that there is some beautiful full circle moments happening in what could be the last installment of this series (but who knows, maybe Alice knows???).! Though it is hard to leave this story and place, I will be ready for what Camilla decides she must (wants?) to write next.
There are no words to describe how happy I was at the end of this book while also so sad this series is over.
I'm looking forward to the rereads now that I know more too. I'll be honest I got so wrapped up in the story that I didn't take as great of notes as I normally do, which is annoying and also a good sign of being well written!
It was dark, read the Author Note! But I knew I could trust her to keep it in a zone I'd be comfortable. Similar to her mafia book, dark but somehow balanced to not be heavy, she's a genius that can make it work!
Content: Style - Dual POV, Dark RomCom (forced proximity/ kidnapping, villain romance) Intimacy - High (past sexual model jobs, talk of sex, detailed makeouts- some laying down, shirtless mmc) Language - None Violence - High (stabbing, self-harm) Potential Triggers - abusive parent, drinking, manipulative power plays, people pleasing, painful menstrual medical condition
I am so sad this series is ending, so much so that I think I need to go back and reread all of them. This book is definitely a dark romance and the warnings at the beginning are not to be ignored. Dark romance is not my thing; I like sunshine and ooey gooey goodness. However, I loved this book. This book, though filled with red flags galore, is also filled with so much love and hope and family (found family, those that choose to love you no matter what). Learning to forgive and choosing to be kind and sharing all the love (and teasing). It was beautiful. Camilla Evergreen writes books like no other. Her writing makes me slow down and process every word. Some other books you just skim through so quickly because they don’t have much to them. Her books are almost a bit like therapy, making you rethink and process everything in a new light.
First of all, much sadness that this incredible series has come to a close. Secondly, what a perfect ending! I am once again enthralled with Camilla Evergreen's beautiful and unique writing style coupled with amazing character growth, world building, and storytelling. Castor's story was worth every second of the wait, and Danielle is, of course, his perfect match. Loved seeing the return of familiar characters and watching the story unfold. I really am not a fan of romantasy as a genre, but something about the way Ms. Evergreen writes it is just so different from the usual, even though she keeps with the standard rules of the fae realm. This one was definitely the darkest of the series, but it needed to be. Really, really loved this book. Gonna go reread the whole series now.
I've been obsessed with Dani since the last book (not as obsessed as Castor, don't worry). And Castor has always intrigued me. I was very interested to see what their story would look like. And it did not disappoint! Watching them grown and heal together was an incredible journey. And their relationship looks a little different from some... because most do. They grow together, but they also need to grow within themselves. And I am here for all the healing. This book has heart, swoon, and humor.
This book is darker, and has some darker themes than other books. It is still closed door (no explicit sex), but definitely heed content warnings. It is a mature book intended for an adult audience. That said, if you enjoy a little bit of darkness or a good morally gray man... Enjoy! :)
Another amazing book in this series! This author never disappoints! I really enjoyed this book and the entire series. I do recommend reading the author's note and the trigger warnings. This book has several darker themes to it, more so than the other books in this series.
I really love the over all theme of finding who you are and believing in yourself. Both main characters struggle with not only their worth and place in the world but also really knowing who they are. The story is told in dual POV so you get both sides of the story. It’s an amazing journey of self discovery for both of them.
If you have never read any of this author’s books then you are in for a treat. All of her books leave you feeling seen, understood and valued. I recommend anything she has written!
Camilla kept us waiting for Castor's story for a while, but it was worth it!
Danielle/Dani lived her whole life in the clutches of her controlling and abusive, narcissistic mother. She had very little autonomy, and yearned for it. After finally managing to escape, she's only on her own for 2 weeks before she's kidnapped by an unseelie faerie (who conveniently forgets to tell her they're soulmates until later). Throughout the story, Dani struggles with whether she wants to venture out and be fully independent, or stay in the rather comfortable - and very intriguing - clutches of her kidnapper.
Castor is an unseelie basilisk who has a bit of a sordid past. He does, however, have quite the soft spot for those he cares about - and especially Dani. He wrestles with whether he is worthy of love and tries to be better than he was in the past. Don't get me wrong, Castor still has violent tendencies and likes stabbing (they both do), but we learn about how he's grown.
This is considered a dark romance, but honestly, it felt so light and uplifting to me. Both Dani and Castor had so much growth, while also falling in love with each other. I loved this quote from Willow (from Book 1 in the That's (Para)Normal series) to Dani. "Soulmates are equally paired. So, that being the case, being with one is a choice. If you truly are his, you are as strong as him. You don't need him to protect you. You don't need him at all. If you're his soulmate, learning that will come first."
“Love is an action. I cannot sit idly and expect you to experience it.”
This story is the perfect wrap up for the sweet That’s (Para)Normal Romantic Comedy series. It pulled all of our favorite friends back into the final storyline, where we get to see Castor’s arch settle into his own HEA.
The quote above is an amazing summary of how Castor approaches every aspect of his relationship with Danielle…. However unfortunate the outcomes of his actions. The misunderstandings between the human and fae are, as ever, hilarious, and the miscommunications between Castor and Danielle provide a good bit of the storyline.
But what I loved most was how he supported her as she discovered who she really was, deep down, after being raised in an abusive household.
This is an excellent pinnacle to the series, to finally tell Castor's story. The book is a little unhinged as you would expect given the main character but consent is key here. I don't normally read dark romance as I am AuDHD and frequently want to punch the men in those books as they are selfish takers and honestly would just scare me. Castor wants to possess Heather, but he also wants to cherish her, please her and worship her. There is enormous character growth for Castor in the book but also for Heather who is possibly just as damaged and watching them heal together healed something in me. Though this is a wonderful book to wrap a series up I really hope there will be more in the future as this whole series has become a favourite that I will read over and over again
Falling in Love with My Unseelie Kidnapper is enchanting. Beautiful.
Castor is so painfully lonely, and Danielle wants so badly to be free. How can they be soulmates?
I don't dabble in dark romance often, but it's Castor's book, and I wasn't about to leave him out after Falling in Love with a Tiny Bat. This book had me laughing and crying. So. Much. Happened. I'm still in shock XD If you've read the others, this is a great ending to the series.
Heed the warnings, but I didn't think it was much worse than other parts in the series. That's me, though.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will the next thousand times I read it. So grateful for having this opportunity.
This book was yet another most delightful tale of chaos by Camilla Evergreen! Our FMC inner monologue had me giggling through the whole book! And our MMC had enough sweet words to say to the FMC to literally make your heart melt and put it back together! The nicknames had me kicking my feet and giggling from the first page! They were in fact writing for each other but that is completely beside the point- they were one of the most interesting couples I have come to love!
I would highly recommend reading some of the other books in this series! Just to help you understand who some of the side characters are- but it is totally not necessary to fully enjoy the book!
Falling in Love with My Unsealed Kidnapper by Camilla Evergreen was such a fun and surprisingly heartfelt read. What starts as a wild premise turns into a story that’s actually very intentional about consent, choice, and emotional agency, which makes the relationship feel authentic.
Both characters are deeply broken in their own ways, and watching them slowly find healing through acceptance in each other was beautiful. Their growth feels messy and real.
Also—this book is very funny. The banter and absurd moments had me laughing out loud.
A unique romance with heart, humor, and characters you can’t help rooting for. Five stars.
I absolutely loved this book, Castor is living in my head rent free and staying there forever. The darkness woven through the story was so beautifully done, adding depth without taking away from the heart of it. The found family dynamic was everything: raw, loyal, and completely unforgettable.
Our female lead was incredible, and watching her grow and truly find herself alongside Castor felt so powerful. Their journey wasn’t just romantic, it was transformative, and honestly, it gave me exactly what I didn’t even realise I needed. 🖤
The story was so Castor and I enjoyed every word of it. This book concludes the That's (Para)Normal series and you're really missing out on this found family journey if you haven't read it yet.
