4.25 This was a cute and easy read. I found Preston to be very endearing. Lizabeth Anne writes him how she wants him to be seen. He speaks very proper and is so polite and put together always, but you get to see times of him struggling as well. Hallie is so joyful and loving and really helps Preston to see that he can be loved.

A massive thank you to the author for the chance to read this ARC. The characters absolutely make this book. You will fall in love with them as you watch them fall for one another. Even mundane, everyday things like croissants and umbrellas will give you all the feels. Cherry on top, there is the perfect sprinkle of spice to keep the pages turning. I cannot wait to see what is next from this author!
I’m not a huge lover of the romance genre, but I’ll dabble in it now and again, and it’s refreshing to read a book that focuses on adults pursuing adult relationships while also dealing with real adult issues. No “Will they won’t they” teen dramas here!
The opening chapter does well at setting the stakes and the overarching problem for the course of the story, and the author does well at keeping that lingering feeling throughout.
The characters are where the author excels, and it’s nice to see characters with such distinct voices and personalities. Preston is very formal, and speaks very concisely, which admittedly may be a little jarring to some readers to begin. He doesn’t fit your usual leading man, confident/charming romance protagonist, but once past that initial block he’s so endearing and you can’t help but root for him. Hallie is so full of whimsy, and her dialogue always has this tinge of excitement without being irritating like so many of these types of characters can be. Glen is just oozing with Southern charm and I love him. Even in moments where they text each other, there is so much thought in how they type and respond, and those personalities coming together offer a really unique and varied dynamic.
There’s a lot of emotional moments, a lot of fun moments and areas of realism and relatability. So again, while not my usual choice of read, there’s a lot more to like than dislike from Forget Me Not, and the future of the series and the characters that could feature are bound to bring people back.
First of all, I want to say how thankful I am to have received an ARC copy of this book to review! 🫶🏻 I absolutely loved the concept behind the plot of Forget Me Not. It's bittersweet, yes- but real. The feelings and emotions portrayed felt realistic. The blossoming relationship between sweet, exuberant Hallie and thoughtful, kind Preston never felt forced or played up for the sake of writing something with shock value. It felt like watching it gradually unfold, as if through a window into their lives.
Probably a little cliche, but I do believe this read will be unforgettable. 🤍
I will undoubtedly be back to read the stories of the side-characters as well, because they helped shape Preston and Hallie's story, and I hope to see more of them.
