Gold Rush is the first book I have read by Canadian author A.B. Joyce. It is a snowboarder x speed skater romance set at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.
I read this story during the beginning of the Olympics, and it felt surreal to be reading about the games that hadn't yet happened. Now that the Olympics are over, I think it is the perfect opportunity to read it to extend that Olympic joy and continue to cheer on our athletes.
I enjoyed the character growth and development in this story. Hendrik gave Nathalie the push she needed to realize that she is more than just an athlete. It felt like the permission she needed to see herself as more. I enjoyed seeing other characters notice this too.
Joyce did a wonderful job of describing the events. I became a fan of both snowboarding and speed skating while reading this book.
I am now looking forward to more from this author. Hopefully, a little more Nathalie and Hendrik too. Something to tie me over until the next winter Olympics.
