Let it Rain #1

Black Rain

Rate this book
This is a story about me, about who I am, about how I got to be me, and about the people who helped mold me in to Makayla Carlie.
There comes a time when life’s disappointments start to add up. When you can’t cry one more tear. When you can’t feel that surge of panic one more time, or when you can’t pray for one more day. You wonder, are we humans having a spiritual experience, or are we spirits having a human experience? What does it all mean? Do we all have a purpose? People said I was a hero—that I could persevere through anything I put my mind to. How could I be a hero when I never got a choice? Nobody asked me.
I did what I hope anyone reading this would do. While one life was taken too soon, another needed to live, really live. She needed to be the center of somebody’s universe. I was that universe. Just like the Pea under the mattress, I felt her.

I am a story teller, a life coach, and sometimes a little crazy. I’m at an amazing time in my life where doors are opening, adventures are happening, and new friends are being made. Life is fun and I want to share that joy with the world. I’m Jettie and I am unapolgetically me.

Wow! I was sucked into this story from the beginning. I wanted to understand why Mikki was running with Pea (adorable nickname) and what was going on.

Jettie gave me just the right amount of humor in everyday life, angst, and suspense. I came to really care about the characters and want them to prevail.

I'm so glad that Midnight Rain is coming out soon. I can't wait to learn more about Mikki, Blake, and Pea! Bring it on Jettie, I'm ready!

I have to applaud Jettie Woodruff as she is always working outside the proverbial box. Each book I read by her just kinda messes with my head and has me thinking hours after the last paragraph. Black Rain is no different.

While I cannot say that I loved this book, I truly cannot say that I didn't. This story, is a fast coming of age of a young girl who lost everything with the death of her mother. At just 17 years young, Mikki herself an instant nanny. An attempt to find or get close to her "father" lands her into another world. She had no idea that caring for a sweet, innocent neglected girl would bring her the family she so desperately needed. But she also did not know the events and the changes her life would take to get to a place of more.

I struggled with this book mainly because of the characters. Mikki is just 17...way to young to have the perspective and the sass to deal with a mature single father/weathly man-whore of a boss. As for Blake...just odd all-around. From hiring a lost sad girl to care for his young child, to propositioning the nanny for more. I think in the back of my mind I was reconciling the emptiness inside each character and for me their interactions were baby steps towards real intimacy and finally wanting more. At least that is h0w I pushed thru the tale hoping to get some human emotion from either Mikki or Blake.

I also was a bit disconnected with the back and forth telling of the story with past and present scenes. So much was happening and it seemed a bit fragmented. Perhaps that is why Mikki and Blake felt off to me. So again, it seems as if this would have a lower rating, but again...Woodruff tells a good tale. I liked the twists and turns and I like the mind games she plays. Just when I was happy with the conclusion, again there is another "bump" that just cant let the end play out.

Just when I think I have found my favorite Jettie book, she proves me wrong again. This book is my all-time favorite book by Jettie so far. This book blew me out of the water. I was literally craving more after every single page. Yet again here I sit asking myself how in the world does she do it?! When the book starts out it’s in the present with Mikki on the run with Pea. First of Pea is one of the sweetest little girls ever. I fell completely head over heels for this little girl. But I kept asking myself why are Mikki and Pea on the run and who are they running from? The book goes back from the past to present and every single time it did I wanted to scream because I wanted all the information at once. But once again I know from experience that is not how Jettie writes her books. She makes you literally feel crazy until you get all the answers. So when it goes back to the past we get the whole background story of why Mikki is running. In the past we meet Blake. OMG BLAKE is my new book boyfriend. When I finished this book I thought Drew who??? I cried at least 5 to 6 times while reading this book. Jettie has a way of pulling out every single emotion in you. She tears your heart down then slowly builds it back up. I hate to giveaway spoilers but please believe me when I say you will be thinking about this book for days. I don’t know if it was a different feel to the book or the little girl in this book that made me fall in love with this book. But I cannot express how much I love this book. I can’t wait for Jettie’s next book. I literally sit and wait for her to release more books. She is an author I can always count on for an amazing read. Oh yeah and be ready for a crazy ending to this book that will leave your mouth hanging open. It gave me chills every single time I read it.

3.5 stars **Review of the audiobook**

STORY
BLACK RAIN is a good story, but not the caliber I’ve come to expect from Woodruff. It was clever in that I couldn’t tell what was happening until the very end, but after such a slow burn, everything happens quite quickly and in my opinion felt rushed. Aside from the little girl in the story, I didn’t care for any of the characters; I didn’t feel an emotional connection to any of them. I don’t plan on reading book #2.

PERFORMANCE
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Jennifer Saucedo. This was one of the worst performances I’ve ever listened to and I’m actually proud of myself for not quitting and switching to the e-book version. Honestly, I often listen to books using a text to speech app and most of those voices are better than hers!!! Not only was Saucedo lacking in acting skills, she sounded angry most of the time.

5 out of 5 Cook Instead of Drugs, Always You Pea, Magically Captivating Stars!!!

Yes! Yes! Yes! I was magically seduced and captivated by this absolutely amazing story. I am seriously running out of flattering adjectives to explain the awesomeness that is Jettie Woodruff. She just plain and simple, knows how to write an enthralling story with lots of emotion and grit that effortlessly lures you in. Jettie is a sure thing every time (wink..wink). This book is not your typical love story where boy meets girl and they live happily ever after. There is heart break, inner turmoil, pain, struggle, and salvation found in the most unexpected of places. We are left on the edge with lots of WTF's and head scratching, while trying to figure out what is going on in the present as well as the past. Mikki is such a strong and inspiring character. Her connection with the little ray of light that is Pea, was so heart warming to experience. And that is what you will do, you won't just read about it, you will feel that connection jump at you through every relevant word and wrap around you like a warm comforting hug.

"My thoughts still roamed, and I had a hard time sleeping, but Pea did help. Having her in bed with me kept me from thinking anything too dark. I didn't see the grim like skeleton of my mother. I saw a small little miracle that I had fallen madly in love with."

Makayla has a horribly painful past that she was running from, but ends up finding some peace from the most beautiful little girl. It's easy to see that Pea needed Mikki in her life after being neglected and treated with as much tenderness as a fancy accessory in her parents' lives. However, Mikki ended up needing Pea just as much...they saved each other from a dark and gloomy existence. Everytime I read a part about them I immediately wanted to find my little nugget and hug the ever loving crap out of him! Meanwhile, there is a strange powerful force that draws Mikki to Pea's not-so-charming father.

"I felt every angry, hot word. What the hell was that? The emotional surge of feelings I wasn't accustomed to confused me and I felt disoriented. I closed my eyes and swallowed, trying not to feel. That feeling scared the hell out of me. WTF?"

The obvious yet confusing chemistry that Blake and Mikki had was steamy and forbidden, just how I like it. Blake was such an egotistical and arrogant bag of douche that you just wanted to give him a swift kick to the nuts. Despite the obvious distaste that Mikki felt for him, the raw attraction was undeniable. I appreciate the fact that Blake didn't go from douche to prince charming over night. I truly hated him throughout pretty much the whole book. Even when he did small decent things here and there, it wasn't enough to completely change him. The amazing, bright, glowing connection that Pea and Mikki shared is what eventually begins to thaw that cold bastard's heart. Because his character stayed true to his emotionless disconnect through the majority of the book, it makes the payoff in the end that much more effective and endearing. In general, I think a lot of the aspects of their relationship may seem harsh and completely unromantic at times (no flowers or unicorns in sight), but it all makes it so much more authentic. Stick in there...it's sooooo worth it!

"'Once upon a time there was a prince who wanted to find a princess, but she would have to be a real princess,' I began.

'That's me.'

'It's always you,' I said kissing her head. She always said that. Every time.

'Yes, it's always you.'"

The book switches back and forth between the past and the present. During the present you read about how Mikki and Pea are on the run, but we don't know why. Then during the flash backs, you experience not only the beautiful growing relationship of Pea and Nikki, but also the heart break of the dark moments that the past brings. I couldn't make up my mind where I wanted to be throughtout the book...reading the past or the present. When I was reading the flashbacks I was desperate to find out what was going on and in the present, and when I was reading the present parts I kept wanting to go back to see what finally happens with Blake. Either way, it all flowed seamlessly. I loved the fact that the relationship between Mikki and Pea was just as relevant as the relationship between Mikki and Blake. The characters were all built to perfection. I fell so madly for all of them in the end. Jettie sure knows how to create a dark, emotionless, prick of a male character, that somehow, through no thought at all, you end up loving hard. She can probably make me fall in love with the devil himself...maybe even have a few of his babies too. The storyline kept me so desperate for more that I stayed up to the wee hours of the night reading. I got lost in the book, and didn't want to be found (Get your own food...Mommy's reading). The ending brought out the dreaded Shaken-Kindle-Syndrome with a force. Thankfully we won't have to wait long to find out what those ominous last words truly mean. The story rocks on with Midnight Rain, due to release at the end of March. *insert giddy nerd girl dance* If you haven't gotten the gist of all my endless rambling...GO READ THIS BOOK!!!!! I 100 percent give my full book junkie praise and approval for this amazballs book!

“There are two types of pain; one that hurts you, and one that changes who you are.”

I love the dynamic of this story. There is so much anticipation, so many questions, and the mystery of the story will not allow you to put it down.

There’s a lot that happens throughout. There are struggles and bonds, and the will to survive is prominent. It’s emotional at times, has your heart racing at others, and laughing at the next. Jettie’s writing keeps you in every moment, feeling so many different emotions.

The bond between Mikki and Pea is beautiful and heartwarming. They save each other. But I also feel like Mikki and Blake save each other as well. Mikki is so strong willed , yet shattered, and Blake is so lost and detached. Their need for each other is evident, their connection intense, and the build-up leaves you wanting more. The way they help each other come to terms with their losses and lives is beautiful.

“You lost your soul mate.” “Maybe I found her.”

Now, this story is more than just finding someone and healing. There are lies, deception, and twists. Get ready for a fun & crazy ride.

I love the concept of Black Rain. It's so beautiful, yet tragic, and gives an essence of peace.

My heart had just settled down and then I was shredded with that ending. And I have to tell you, I re-read those last 3 sentences 3 times. Now I must have more! Another must read by Jettie!

“You make me live.”

Black Rain by Jettie Woodruff

Maykayla Carlie life has been very trying. Although she does not see herself as a hero. She feels like she has no other choice!! So many disappointments and when you cannot cry anymore you just overpower the sorrow. When someone special is taken away way to soon Mikki is forced to help the other survive. You cherish what you have and the bonds of love, caring and understanding!

Jettie Woodruff novel titled Black Rain. I have read several of Jettie's novels, it surprising to me how the books touch me a little more than the previous one. Jettie has a keen skill in grabbing the reading, making them so interested that there is no putting the book down. You just have to know! I love the characters in this story. I personally felt for Mikki and Pea's relationship. So beautiful, emotional, and loving! For me as a reader I have to emotionally connect to the characters. Blake and Maykayla characters felt so real, this book flowed so well like I was watching on the big screen. Jettie is an amazing story-teller, she writes straight from her heart and this is why she will always be one of my go to authors. I like to thank her for always giving these astonishing stories to her readers.

I give Black Rain 5 out 5 stars

Jettie has another hit on her hands. She doesn't hold back and gives us another story where you'll feel every emotion and not want the emotional ride to end. Mikki and Pea have to be my favorite of her characters and so glad the two found each other. It took me awhile to warm up to Blake with how he acted but he soon became a favorite of mine too. The story starts of showing the struggle that Mikki is going through while on the run trying to protect herself and little Pea. We're not exactly sure why things are this way but soon will get to relive the story as Mikki thinks back and we get to piece everything together while we also follow her on their journey of hiding.

Throughout the whole book, Jettie will keep you wondering where she is going with all of this and which characters can you trust and what will the outcome be for these characters you have fallen in love with. And that ending!!! That's all I can say about it. Another must read everyone should go jump on right now!!!!

Everyone that know anything about me will tell you I'm a huge Jettie Woodruff fan...there is just something about her writing style that I can aways relate to. She sucks me in with her real, raw emotion and the way just she dangles it in front of you only to send you in the total opposite direction. I swear I think the woman sits back and laughs at me every time I send her a private message to vent.

This story is no different and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't my new favorite...every one she produces just gets even more intense( no pressure there Jettie). My heart was immediately broken for Mikki right from the start. No one should have to endure all those things that young and especially not without the guidance and support of those that love you. Then there's Pea....her saving grace that was clearly sent for her. Pea is the most adorable, smart toddler who in so many ways is a carbon copy of Mikki. They both are starved for love, understanding and attention in a world that would just as soon ignore them as if they aren't even there.

I don't ever do spoilers because frankly you'd be angry with me for ruining this ride for you. But trust me when I say this is one you do not want to pass up. It's real, emotional, heartbreaking and yet healing as well. Don't think for one second you know where it's going because you will be surprised at every turn and most definitely with the ending that leaves you scratching your head or in my case messaging all your girlfriends that are reading with you.

You'll laugh, you'll cry black rain and oh let us not forget you'll enjoy one of the most touching scenes thanks to a piano as well.

Till we meet again Princess Pea....it was always you !!!

Really Jettie?! That ending was really fudged up!!!!!!! I was on the edge of my seat for most of this book. I just wanted to skip to the end to see what happened. The angst was unbearable at some points. This was a suspenseful story about love, fate and family. It was a story by Jettie Woodruf...
That ending UGH!!!!!!!

Jettie has a way with words, she always knows how to keep a reader interested and so involved in a story. This book is no different.

We start with Mikki (Makayla) who is a strong female character, she does what she has to do to survive and doesn't need help to do it. With her mom passing away of cancer she is left alone and her dad who wants no part of her life. She takes off and finds herself face to face with Blake, someone she remembers and can help get her to where she needs to be. At first I didn't like Blake but he started to grow on me, a lot. There are so many twists and turns with this book, and I loved every minute of it. You keep finding out answers all the way until the end. I was so touched by "Pea", Blakes daughter who has so much life and no one to really care for her, but Mikki does, and she makes Blake see her as well.

Such a great story, all of Jetties books have awesome female leads! I loved every minute of this one and was trying to read, read, read to find out the missing pieces!! I highly recommend, and this is definitely one of my faves!!!

This may as well be the best book I have read this year.
I don't even know where to start. I loved the writing, the storyline, the amazing, funny, witty characters, the way everything felt so painfully real and tangible.

Pea... Pea is the best kid in the 21st century literature! You just have to read it to get what I mean when I say that her nickname is the cutest and smartest thing under the sun. Pea and Mikki will steal your heart and never let you forget them. Not that Blake would do any less.

I'm too excited right now to retell you the plot (not that I like that kind of reviews anyway), but I'll tell you this: This is a must-read. Also I think this is the first book that is both, on my peed-my-panties-laughing and on the soul-shredder shelf. I mean, how can a book make you laugh out loud and bite your nails and make you cry at the same time? This one can.

I'm not sure about that last line in the book, but I know for sure I'm going to die if I don't get my hands on the sequel ASAP. The doctor said so.

You know that feeling when you finish a really amazing book and find yourself smiling with tears in your eyes as you close your Kindle (or turn the last page)? This is me right now having just finished Jettie Woodruff's Black Rain. WOW! What a story! Already I am missing Mikki and Pea, I enjoyed my time with them so much! Ask me what genre this story is and I will probably just shrug my shoulders; is it a romance? sort of. Is it suspenseful? yes at times. Is it mysterious? absolutely. And the best part is that it really doesn't matter. These are characters you will fall in love with for who they are and for what they're going through. And yes, there is a touch of hotness mixed in there to really get your blood pumping.

There is so much emotional pull in Black Rain thanks to the author's wonderful writing style and word choice. As Mikki told her tale, in the present and in her flashbacks, I felt as if I were right there with her, my heart often racing and occasionally breaking. I felt her pain, her sorrow, her fear, and I felt her laughter, her smartypants wit and most importantly the love she carries for Pea (among others) in her heart. And Pea is just the sweetest little girl I've encountered in a story; everything about her from her outfits to her humor and toddler-esque dialogue is just perfectly written and described. I could not get enough of her! As Mikki and Pea's adventure goes on throughout the story, taking many unexpected twists and turns along the way, I grew so attached to both of them. I FELT them (thank you Mikki for that one) both, right down to my core. And it's not just the two of them but the other characters as well. Blake, Ryan, Grace, Sarah, and everyone else play a vital role in the success of this story, and each one of them will get your heart rate pumping. But I do not want to say another word about them, for fear of giving anything away.

I went into this book blindly, based on nothing more than several recommendations and I am so glad I did. I truly believe that is the best way to experience this story. Allow it to just unfold before you and experience everything with Mikki and Pea, it is such an incredible journey. Thank you so very much Jettie Woodruff for this beautiful story, I cannot wait to read Midnight Rain. This was the first book I've read that you've written and you've got a fan for life.

I loved this book. I love the characters, the plot, the suspense especially. I was guessing up until the last chapter and when I read the last word, I was SO sorry it was over. Good thing Jettie is kind enough to give us a sequel soon!

Mikki is a seventeen year old girl trying like hell to survive the crappy hand that life has dealt her. There's only one person she can turn to for help, but she'd rather die on the streets than contact him. A traumatic event leads to her crashing into Blake - literally - and quickly talking her way into his life.

Pea is the adorable daughter of Blake. She's beautiful, smart, but left in the care of nannies who all but ignore her. She's more of an ornament for the two parents who don't really want her. Mikki quickly talks her way into becoming Pea's nanny and their bond becomes unbreakable.

I love these two characters. Mikki is strong, resilient and way braver than any seventeen yr old should have to be. Pea, when given a chance to express herself, is a little spitfire. She's absolutely adorable and you can see how much she blossoms under Mikki's love.

Blake is a complicated man. At first I vacillated between loving him and hating him, but he ultimately redeems himself.

I very much liked the way Jettie wrote this in a present / past perspective. It was very easy to follow, there were no lags in time and LOTS of twists and turns, which I love!

I'm very excited for Midnight Rain to come out! I can't wait to see where she takes these characters!

This was the first Jettie Woodruff book that I have read and I must say that I was captivated from the beginning.

The story opens with Mikki receiving the final blow on the crap hand life has dealt her. Naturally she runs away, away from the "what comes next". She ran to Blake Coast, the man who will eventually change her life and never realizes she is changing his.

My favorite character aside from Mikki was Pea. They made the story so interesting and I was always so eager for whatever adventure those two would have next. It took me a while to warm up to Blake but it was a natural development just like in the book. Jettie developed her characters so well, it was like we had a bond with them, a front row seat into the most intimate parts of their lives.

The tension between Mikki and Blake was tangible and I love that when I am reading a book. I need the chemistry there and it was there in full force with these two.

My favorite thing about this book is how real it is, something that we can actually relate to. She held nothing back while writing and she did not fall into the cliche's of most books.

There are no multi-orgasmic virgin sex goddesses in this story. There is a bit of a cliffy that had my face frozen with the slow-mo NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO coming out of my mouth. Honestly, It is a great story and I am so glad there is a second book now!

This book......AHHHHH.... I loved every second and you quickly fall in love with all the characters especially PEA! I have always been a fan of Jettie and her underestimated series! I loved that series but when I saw the cover of this book I wasn't sure. DO NOT JUDGE THE BOOK BY IT'S COVER! Sorry for the shouty caps but it is important because you will miss out on such a writing/reading experience! Jettie seriously just showed us the gamut of her writing abilities! Without giving much away, the story starts so sweet and we see the relationship between a beautiful, sweet little girl and her nanny start to develop. I think to myself wow this is a total 180 in comparison to Jettie's other works. Until BAM, there she is, the true twisted Jettie. But I have to say it worked so well and it fit into the story, in such a way that you start loving the kind of checked out bad dad and start to see him in a whole new light. The last line of the book isn't so much a cliffhanger as it is more of a "gasp" and there is no doubt you want to start book 2 right away so do yourself a favor and buy them both at the same time. You will not be disappointed, it had elements of surprise, mystery, love, passion, sex and more! So much detailed packed into book one and I loved how it went in and out of past and present. I would give this book 10 stars if I could! I loved it that much!

Some may call Mikki a little crazy, some called her a criminal. She has begged, lied cheated and stolen, but would do it all again in a heartbeat.
Mikki would do anything, anything for her.

Troubled Teenager Makayla Carlie has suffered terribly; she has suffered hard times during her seventeen years. There’s no way she is going to get stuck in the system just to be tossed back out on her own again in the few short months when she turns eighteen.
Mikki has one aim when she just happens to run head first into Blake Coast. She can use him; use him to get to the one who she despises most. Fate steps in and Mikki’s life is taken out of her hands and towards who knows where.

This book has left me gobsmacked. It’s gritty, intriguing and in parts heartbreakingly sad and emotional.
Listening to Mikki’s story, in both past and present tense, until the past meets up with the present day and a whole new can of worms is opened.
It’s not a dark or twisted messed up story of falling in love, more a journey of self discovery and finding the place you belong in this world, and if you happen to find that soul-mate along the way, even better.
This for me is one of Jettie’s best works yet I loved this amazing story.

There are some authors you are excited to put on a too rare "auto-buy" list because their books are simply a joy to read no matter the storyline right !!

well WOODRUFF sits better on the "AVOID AT ALL COST" shelf !! fan-fiction is probably the best compliment I can give her messy attempts at romance !!! messy plots, ridiculous characterizations & unhealthy obsession with dead sisters who sleep with the guys ( seriously is that a new trend?)

The over the top ratings and awestruck reviews left me baffled; especially if you realize that Woodruff actually writes several times about her characters using the toilets ( I KID YOU NOT ) we are lucky enough to read about flushing, pooping ... fascinating stuff I know !!

No need to waste any time on her future novels I know all I need already and nothing about it is positive sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

spare yourself a migraine and read great books !!
cheers

*Book received in exchange for honest review *

Makayla Carlie. A teen who's never lived life like a teen should. A girl who gave up her freedom to care for her ailing mother. With no father and no family, where will she go?
When she goes in search of the father she never got to know, she wiggles her way as close as she can get by becoming a nanny for her father's CEO, Blake Coast. Though he's an arrogant and ignorant adult, he learns his faults through Makayla being a pushy little sod. But things soon turn awry and shit hits the fan. Will Mikki find a way out or is she doomed with a chance with life behind bar?

Oh hell, this book keeps you entranced all the way through, I've laughed, I've cried and I've screamed at some of the ignorance from the characters. There's always some new twist around the corner that has you second guessing your opinion. one thing, this has a cliffhanger..........I don't like them much, but knowing the next book will be out in spring will keep me sane enough not to chew nails in waiting.

This book is aimed at adults. 18+ more likely, with a far bit of sex.

I highly recommend everyone having a read of this!

I was gifted a copy of Black Rain from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

I give this book ✪✪✪✪✪stars

Jettie Woodruff is one of my go to authors, she always writes an excellent story. This is by far my favorite book Jettie has written.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster for me, It deals with a lot of things. You will laugh, you will CRY, you will want to through your kindle..lol just don't actually do it.

I love Pea (Landon) Mikki and Blake.

Pea is the cutest little girl, you will love her for sure, it is impossible not to. She has quite the imagination

Mikki is a stubborn and has been through a lot, she is trying to teach Blake that family is important, more important than work.

Blake is all about working, he is Pea's father but he doesn't do anything that a father should be doing. He is always on his phone, talking or texting, email you name it he is doing it.

Can Mikki get Blake to really see his daughter, can they become a family they all deserve.

Thank you Jettie for sharing your talent of writing with all of us readers. I so look forward to reading Midnight Rain!!

Jettie, what did you do to me this time?!?!?!
I was fortunate enough to beta this book so I've watched it grow from the beginning and let me tell you, the end result blew me away.
Jettie wrote a beautiful story with 2 of the most endearing characters I have ever read. Mikki and Pea will steal your heart. And let's not forget Blake...sigh. I think Drew found his equal, but don't tell him that.
The story is chock full of emotions and I'm not ashamed to say, tears flowed more than once while reading this book. I loved that this was one book that I didn't figure out where she was going with the story. Believe me, you think you know, but you don't. I don't know how Jettie does it. I swear each book is better than the last.
I say this with all sincerity, this is my absolute favorite Jettie book of all time. The emotions, the characters, the story, it was IT for me. This is the bar that her books will be measured from, no pressure Jettie. You know I love you!
If there is one book that will make you a Jettie fan for life, it is this one. 5 amazing stars.

I have gone back and forth on this one. I absolutely have no idea what star rating I should give and how I should even write my review. When I finished my thoughts were all over the place a part of me was somewhat disappointed with the ending it just felt somewhat rushed. But then when I woke up the next day all I could think about was this book and what was going to happen with the next one. I just flat out loved Pea I mean how could you not love her. If I just sit and think I believe I’m stuck on a 3.75/4 star type of rating it was the chapters toward the end that didn’t work for me. But overall I did enjoy the read I loved how the author kept me guessing to figure out what was gone on and what was the twist going to be. I’m ready for Midnight Rain want to see what is up next for Mikki and her new found family.

I finished the book last night and I am still in a daze. Such a beautiful story.
I fell in love with Makayla and Pea, then little by little I fell for Blake too.
Makayla has to be the strongest girl on earth and she is fearless, she has a heart of gold and she loves unconditionally.
Pea has to be the sweetest, most intelligent kid.
Makayla and Pea together are priceless and the more I read the more I wanted.
The story starts in the present, with Makayla and Pea on the run, and with each and every page you get a memory, but is not until the very end that you will get a clear picture.
I had so many questions about Makayla and Pea, but most of all Blake... I promise you will get every single answer and then some.
That ending...oh my gosh... I still cry thinking about it!
Can't wait for Midnight rain!

wow what a story I loved it so much I one clicked midnight rain as soon as it ended .
This is a story I won't ever forget right from the beginning it set up camp in my heart and I was hooked.
I never expected any of it and it was like a train wreck but you just can't look away , I never even read the synopsis before I read it I saw the cover (yes I am a cover lover ) and one clicked it straight away. you see I have this theory if I saw this book in a shop window would I buy it , overlook it, consider it , dismiss it , without knowing what the book is about, this would certainly be a buy so I did and I jumped in and I cried for pea, for mikki, for her mother and for Blake such a fantastic story well done jettie , mikki stole my heart with her story you smashed it , if I could give more than 5 stars I would. moment of truth would Blake be my book boyfriend ? he'll yes no doubt about it !

Reading Black Rain was one of the greatest experience I have had in a book in a while. I don't give out spoilers so you want hear them from me. But Blake, Mikki and Pea will give you a adventure you never see coming. Just when you think you have it all figure out well guess what you don't. Because that is Jettie Woodruff style. She takes on ride of real human experience that can turn every emotions that you have on. You will laugh, get mad and cry. But in the end you will set back and say WTF. She gutted my emotions and made me love this book to the depth of my soul and yes I want more of the characters. So go head One Click you will be shouting for more. The sex scene are hotter than anything you will know. Just warning you to be prepared.
