Magical baker Lillie Dean has made a rather large mistake. Even though she owes Mr. Globe a boatload of money, and he told her to keep away from his son, Lillie let Julian Globe talk her into sunny picnics and moonlight walks and the occasional earth-shattering kiss - as long as no one else in town knows.
But not everyone in Silverkeep is feeling the love. A contingent from the new king has come to town to make sure things are running smoothly, and seem to be everywhere Julian and Lillie go. Are they truly here to help the town find its new normal, or do they have something more to hide?
A Dusting of Alchemy is the sixth book in the Pobyd Perfections Bakery Series.
S. Usher Evans is an author, blogger, and witty banter aficionado. Born in Pensacola, Florida, she left the sleepy town behind for the fast-paced world of Washington, D.C.. There, she somehow landed jobs with BBC, Discovery Channel, and National Geographic Television before finally settling into a "real job" as an IT consultant. After a quarter life crisis at age 27, she decided consulting was for the birds and rekindled a childhood passion for writing novels. She sold everything she owned and moved back to Pensacola, where she currently resides with her two dogs, Zoe and Mr. Biscuit.
I’m so glad this series has a bit of romance added! It makes the story that much sweeter (pun intended). I know cozy books like this are meant to be short and sweet but I could read 10x the pages and still not be satisfied. I want to know everything about this cozy world!
My favourite part of this series is how the silliness of a cozy book is mixed with the seriousness of the mystery. Sure, these soldiers are causing trouble and making a mess, but then you find yourself kicking your feet over a couple getting engaged or a silly mouse being his silly self. I love the combo and the break of some small town mini-drama to break up the mysteries.
Is Lillie finally going to get everything she’s worked so hard for? You can almost taste her success by about halfway through this story. But of course, we’re not ready for the happily ever after. This mystery was so fun to try to guess before it was resolved. I also really enjoyed watching the town come together to help Lillie and each other while the soldiers are tearing apart their town and trying to sow ill will. I also loved the themes brought through of sacrifice while also getting the best things in life and working together for what matters. As usual, Moran did an amazing job in the narration. I love how well she captures the essence of each of the characters to where I feel immersed in the story and I can easily tell the different characters.
Another absolutely delightful story in this series! I love watching the characters grow together. I just absolutely adore them! And I love how hopeful the story is. A perfect little cozy read! And the narration is so great!
Absolute Perfection! This is my favorite Lillie book so far. This was an amazing mystery that definitely shakes the town. I was definitely annoyed and would love to see or at least hear about their punishment. I can't way for the next book. Jess Moran is an amazing narrator. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. She just really brings the characters to life and you get really invested in the storyline with how she narrated it. It’s amazing. I just love it.
