3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK decent reads

It was a rereading, but I confess that I remembered absolutely nothing of the story. I think the author lost too much time with the daily routine of the characters and forgot a bit about the drama and romance. Ex-wife appeared wanting to cause trouble and her ex never showed up, but I kept waiting for him to appear to cause drama, but no. A story that was ok, no big thrills.

Kind of boring, and Tetreault slipped again, with the same problem that happened in More than a Billionaire.

Seem to be a lot of inversions in this book. Do these not get edited?

This was a cute read. I loved Jessie! She had that girl next door charm. Once a skinny highschooler, then gained weight, then lost just enough weight to be very attractive to men. But Jessie wasnt one to notice. She was loved by all the residents of the small town and would help anyone out. We find out she hasnt been noticing men or interested bc of a past relationship that ended badly. Can she overcome her fears?
In comes Mack, a boy she went to highschool with who she had a huge crush on. Now divorced with a daughter. He is just as gorgeous as ever and has a great job. He moved back to their hometown and the two meet again.
We follow as a love story unfolds between the two. Just as it seems to be happily wver after Macks ex-wife comes back into the picture. Can the two love birds overcome the ex-wifes meddling?

Meh. This book was OK, but it was too full of the mundane parts of life. Some authors can pull this off and make a trip to pick apples seems like a romantic adventure. In this book it was just a boring slog to pick apples.
I did like the fact that it was safe, the H was a nice guy and not a man-whore. His ex, was a selfish cow who tried to stir up trouble but he never, for a moment, considered getting back with her. Unfortunately, even though the h was a sweet and kind woman, the most interesting thing the author could create about her was a backstory with an abusive ex. It was like all the ingredients were there but not put together in an interesting way.
This was a sweet, low angst, romance. All sex scenes were fade to black.

Jessie Quinn is like the sweet girl next door. She runs the family hardware store in North Salem. She used to have a big crush on Mack Ellsbury when she was in school. He is now years later moving back to North Salem with his five year old daughter, Grace. Jessie has changed a lot over the years. Mack definitely notices the change and he starts to make a connection with Jessie. This story is a real winner and I couldn't put it down last night. I stayed up so I could finish it. It does have a little sex but not much to be offensive. You will love this book. I know I did

I really enjoyed this book about two people who had known each other in high school. When Mack moved back to his home town, and met up with Jessie, the sparks flew. I just wish the editing was better.

I've read other North Shore books, but I won't read any more.
Dude moves back to the small town and is shocked at how his chatty daughter, who stays there regularly with grandparents, knows so many people and has been to clubs and events. He apparently never listens to her when she chats with him.
He gets in a bind for babysitting, and his single male friends are disqualified because they're single men. WELL SO IS HE. So he turns to an acquaintance, the book's heroine.
She's alive and he's alive-that's all the connection we need between two people apparently--oh and hey she isn't fat anymore, I'm sure that's another major factor. So he suddenly leans over and kisses her, no hints or signals to see if that sudden kiss would be ASSAULT or not.
So at 34% I'm done with this book and this author. I could get more romance, and less creepiness, by drawing some stick figures.

3.25 This is the second book in the North Shore series by Ms Tetreault. I’m rating this one a bit higher than the first book in the series. Jessie is the sweet girl-next-door that is finally being noticed by her high school crush, Mack. She’s North Salem’s sweetheart and he’s the hometown boy who made good in the city and has now come home to raise his daughter. Only Jessie has a past that no one knows about. Things are going along just fine until her past starts to rear its ugly head. Just when things get back on track, Mack’s ex shows up with a jealous streak. Hometown Love moves quicker than The Courage to Love, there are still no real surprises and the book is very predictable. It’s a sweet, cute, quick read.

Boring, Boring, Boring
An incredibly tedious protagonist with Mr. Perfect (who doesn't exist in the real world), I started skimming the second half of this book. I should have taken hint by the cover art that this book sucks. Basically loser girl meets wonder man who of course, is divorced with a perfectly well behaved 6 year old girl and everyone is happy happy. Give me a break. How in the world could could this dull dip attract this guy - he must be the village idiot and of course, she's a Cinderella. Remind me never to go to North Salem Massachusetts since everyone is a model or TV star married to the perfect "I can fix anything" men.

I absolutely loved this book with Mack and Jessie's story and of course Grace. I love how patient Mack is with Jessie throughout the book, as well as how understanding Jessie is of Mack and the difficulties of single parenting, as well as his very annoying ex. Great, great story!!!
I'm so glad I didn't give up on this series with the first book that was just ok to me. This one though was so good. Maybe I'm a sucker for a single dad finding his true love or something but this one was so much better. Now let's move on to the next one in the series and hope it's great as well.

I love reading single dad romances and I wasn’t disappointed with Hometown Love. This is the story about Mack, his daughter Grace, and Jessie. Jessie has a hard time trusting guys, after her ex-boyfriend,Jeremy. She has worked on improving her life, but will she let Mack in? When things start to look good for them, Mack’s ex enters the picture. Will Bethany split them apart or will they be strong enough to stay together? Grab your copy and enjoy another small town romance.

There was nothing wrong with this novel other than the fact that nothing happened, other than decorating a childs bedroom.
I want some reason to keep reading a romance novel - not just to read about decorating. I need some tension, some reason to care about the characters and I simply didnt.

Wonderful book
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but this book I enjoyed even more! I loved the characters and the storyline was so realistic, I could believe everything that was happening. I loved Grace, she was the best!

This was sweet and simple. It left me wishing the author had done a bit more with the story, felt like she barely scratched the surface with the characters. I still enjoyed the characters, I just was left wishing for more.

I felt like Jessie's previous abusive relationship was barely discussed or handled. It was announced and sort of brushed under the rug as it was just a minor plot point. If an author is going to use such a backstory, it needs to be done much better than this.

A great romance book
