Juniper Leigh is an erotica writer from New York City, eager to tell all. Her writing -- steamy and salacious though it may be -- is meant to empower women to explore the depths of their desires. She is a devoted feminist and she believes that ownership of what gets you off is a deeply affirming and empowering act (including when the thing that gets you off is submission). Orgasms are widely known to have lasting health benefits so, really, smut-writing is somewhat of a public service.
Juniper Leigh is a pen name, an alter ego, but the woman behind the name is just as committed to the written word. Plays, novels, short stories, articles -- she does it all. She holds an MFA from Columbia University and BA in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College.
This book was a bit amateurish. So from the blurb I thought this book was about a girl who left her husband, and comes back and it’s a second chance romance... and I got that.. kind of 🤷🏼♀️
This book is ridiculous short, and just when I was starting to get into it, it ends, but the blurb for book 2 is all about her getting together with some other guy. I don’t want to read about that. I’m so confused. Not going to continue on with this one.
Depois de passar 5 livros (curtinhos) trepando alternadamente com um e com o outro ela finalmente trepa com os dois juntos, depois larga os dois e vai embora 😒
I think this was more of a preview or rather prequel to what this series has in stored for us. It was extremely short, 21 pages on my NOOK HD+, so no time at all for character development. I'm confused with Lucas and Harper's relationship or lack thereof, she supposedly left the club life and everything that it involves behind, including her husband, but she still loves him, has sex with him at the first opportunity she gets, but is still thinking about leaving again. Oh and she seems to be attracted to another man as well, Oliver. Though the flirting and the description of their interaction was fleeting at best...so confusing!
I hope Harper doesn't turn out to be one of those female leads that enjoys playing mind games, saying she's leaving but finding stupid excuses for staying. Be true to yourself and what you want...no games! That just messes with the whole foundation of the book. So, because there was no character development, some confusing emotions coming from the female lead and a slight cliffhanger, I can't give this novella more than two stars, there just wasn't enough plot/story line to review it properly.
As I am sitting here thinking about how to write a review on this story, I realize that I don't 100% remember much about the story; which leads me to wonder how in the world I gave it 3 stars. I believe the sex scene where her and her somewhat husband/ex/estranged lover are driving home from the hospital and they stop on the side of the road and he takes her right there…outside of the truck, with her bent over the driver's seat. I think that is the one scene that made me give it a higher rating. This book was a quick read. Kind of boring, sometimes didn't really understand what was going on or what was the purpose. It is the first in a series. Maybe in the next part more is clarified. There are a lot of holes and this story is in serious need of character and plot development.
The sad part was I liked where this was going but it was was too short and the to find out from reading a review of book five that harbor leaves both men well I will not waste my money and I wish authors would stop diving up their novels into tiny chunks and hoping people will just keep forking over cash.
AWESOME beginning to a new series! Love the chemistry between Lucas and Harper! New man in town for Harper? Maybe? Let's find out a - off for the next book...can't wait to see what happens next
A very good but very short MC book. We barely get to know the characters but I like Lucas so far. Looking forward to seeing what book two has in store for me!
Serial. harper is back in town because her father, the President of the Banshee has been shot. Harper and her ex, Lucas have unfinished business. Short story.
A very quick read but don't let that fool you. The author manages to reel you in and craving for the next books in the series. I can't wait to read more of Harper and Lucas' story.
