About the author
Jack Flynn
23 books62 followersJack Flynn co-writes dark billionaire military romance with Lainey Ray.
Jack is a former military man with a sharp mind, a devilish smirk, and a habit of taking control—in fiction and otherwise. He likes his books like he likes his combat strategies: fast-paced, explosive, and leaving no survivors. When he’s not crafting tactical missions and deadly antiheroes, you can find him reading action thrillers, watching war movies, or engaging in other kinds of action we won’t discuss here.
Jack brings the precision, the danger, and the raw intensity to every Jack & Lainey book. He knows exactly how to build a hero who commands a room, claims a woman, and takes down anyone who dares to stand in his way.
Rumor has it, Jack never loses control … unless Lainey’s involved.

The Beast follows the events of The Maverick, which I adored, so I went in expecting another adrenaline‑fueled ride. Instead, book 18 decided to slow things down and give us a double dose of introspection from Brock and Mary Catherine, who spend a surprising amount of time thinking, rethinking, and then thinking about the thinking they just did.
The Dominion Hall brothers barely show up, which left the story feeling disconnected from the larger arc. Meanwhile, FBI Director Dominic Craine brings more drama than danger, and not always in a way that advances the plot.
It’s not a bad book — the writing is solid, the characters are familiar, and the world is still one I enjoy — but it didn’t deliver the punch, tension, or team dynamic I’ve come to expect from this series.
I’m still committed to the Dominion Hall universe, but I’m hoping future installments lean back into intrigue, danger, and action, and ease up on the extended self‑reflection sessions.

After The Maverick, I was wasn't sure what to expect from The Beast. I was not at all disappointed at this slower paced, more emotional story. Brock is in Savannah at the behest of his brother. Transporting a runaway bride swathed in 21 pounds of satin certainly wasn't on his agenda. Mary Catherine hadn't really faced her reality unil she was eight steps from the altar. She had known all along but didn't accept it unil she had to make those last eight steps. Daniel was an extraordinary man but he and life they planned was not what she wanted. Running out of the church and finding Brock seemed fortuitous. They both have to reconcile lots of feelings both for and about each other as well as the predicaments they're both in. The FBI is really turning up the heat on the Danes and using innocents ro make their point. I can't wait to meet the rest of the Texas Danes and I am dying to know how they finally thwart the threats against them.

Another beautiful story I’m so involved in these. This one is Brock and Mary Catherine’s story. She runs away from her wedding and into Brock what more could you ask for 😅 spicy 🌶️ drama and a couple of tear jerking moments this is the highlight of my week three more to go !
