My enjoyment of this volume was lower than the first volume mostly because it focused a lot on the growing connection between Chloe and Alessandro and I still don’t like him. Once again there were scenes of him with women that rubbed me the wrong way. Why is he screaming and putting hands on women for doing what they are told? He doesn’t want his father to set him up, that’s valid, be an asshole to him not these women.
The art here is stunning and I will be looking into other projects by Cierra.
I still find Chloe to be a likable and root worthy heroine for our story. She is what makes this series stand out for me.

I do like this, but when the MC h looks so much like a young boy and leans into it, it makes me question the love story and the MC H.
Also, the emotionally constipated and unable to express his love to his son father is really frustrating.
3, will read the next volume but I have reservations, stars.

Review to be adjusted once series is complete
I was definitely intrigued by the pretty cover but went into this with mid expectations. So far I really like it; it's darker than I had anticipated, often times these pseudo European-esque medieval settings feel a bit too fluffy. Beatrice, also known as Chloe, is a fun character - her being originally from our world is rarely referred to but she's already had her (second) life flipped over multiple times. She's appropriately frightened when faced with threatening circumstances but shows her strength and resilience in other areas. It's fun to see her with her apothecary knowledge and her enthusiasm for it and learning in general. I enjoyed the art and there are several fun side characters.
This is shaping up to be a slow burn - there's virtually no romance in the first volume. Duke Alessandro is as cold and calculating as they come and while we don't know his full backstory yet, there's enough shown to see why he largely holds women or the idea of love and marriage in contempt. He is ruthless and cruel in a way that can be off putting but I expect to see some character development from him. While he has no care for Beatrice and doesn't recognise her as Chloe, she is completely terrified of him so there will definitely need to be some work to get any romance going.

I liked this more than the first volume. I do think some of the characters look alike though which can make it hard to tell them apart. I don't get the love story though... the man tried to kill her cause politic stuff and she is all like he is so nice??? She seems a bit like a wet rag. The thinking the duke is in to men is fine but it is treated oddly. And the little boys thing is a bit.... icky.
Next volume seems like the big things will be discovered and now the manhwa is finished so hopefully the printing picks up in pace.
4/6 stars
