Spanish Nights #2

Drunken Nights Of Betrayal

Rate this book
They say forget-me-nots grew from the tears of a knight who drowned beneath the weight of his own love, whispering his last plea to the woman who would never see him again. Remember me. That legend clings to me now, curling like vines around a memory I cannot touch.

When Dante looks at me, there is madness in his eyes. He sees a woman who once belonged to him, a lover who carved herself into his bones. But I don’t remember the man who claims my heart was his. I only see the king of shadows, a rival who built his empire on ruin and lies. His obsession feels less like love and more like possession, and it makes my blood burn with the need to destroy him.

But hatred comes easily. He is my family’s rival, the man who should have never touched me, the man whose wife’s blood is already on my hands. If I cannot give him the memory he craves, then I’ll give him the war he deserves.

Forget-me-nots are meant to be eternal. Yet with Dante, eternity feels less like love and more like damnation. He may hate me, but every time he comes, he leaves a bouquet of those cursed flowers at my door, as if they could force memory back into my veins.

Perhaps I was never meant to remember him. Perhaps I was only meant to finish what fate began.

(Arc reader)

I’d give this one 3.5 stars. It took me a while to really get into the story, but once I did I ended up enjoying it overall. The pacing felt a bit slow at the beginning (for me personally!), yet the characters and plot gradually pulled me in and made the experience worthwhile.
That said, I’d definitely recommend checking the trigger warnings before picking it up, as some themes may be difficult for certain readers. Overall, not a perfect read for me, but still one I’m glad I finished.

Two people forbidden by fate to ever belong to each other.

This book is easily one of the most unhinged mafia romances I’ve read in a long time.

At its core, this isn’t just a love story. It’s about two people who carry the same kind of power, money, responsibility and damage — and whose first meeting feels almost… orchestrated. Fated. But also completely forbidden.

Lia is a Spanish mafia princess from a bloodline where the women actually run everything from the shadows. She’s been trained to control her entire life. When she’s suddenly pushed into a political marriage she never wanted, that’s what finally sparks her rebellion.

Enter Dante. A rival. A dangerous choice. An impossible choice.

And, obviously, the only choice. He’s bound in a marriage rooted in old, brutal revenge — something tied deep into his family’s past and blood history. So whatever starts between them is doomed from the beginning.

What begins as a reckless connection turns into something much deeper… and much messier. Their emotional fallout spirals into separation, betrayal and the kind of consequences that completely rewrite both their lives — especially after a brutal turning point and a time jump that throws us into an entirely new reality.

What really hit for me was watching who Lia becomes after that shift in time. She’s colder. Sharper. Far more dangerous — but the softness she holds in private, especially in her role as a mother, completely changes how you see her. The mother–son relationship was honestly one of my favorite parts of the book. He’s written as emotionally mature in a way that actually made sense, and their bond grounded all the chaos around them.

I also really liked how the author handled Lia and Flora’s relationship. It wasn’t instant acceptance or fake motherhood. It’s very clearly a hesitant, complicated, slowly-forming motherhood dynamic — and I really appreciated that it isn’t instantly warm or easy. There’s emotional distance, careful steps, and a lot of unspoken guilt and restraint. It felt thoughtful and painfully real.

Plot-wise, this book is stacked.

There are constant reveals, shifting loyalties and layered betrayals — the kind that keep you saying “wait—WHAT?” every few chapters. I was genuinely hooked, just trying to keep up with what was about to go wrong next.

And yes… the characters are completely feral.

There is literally a point where she chains him up and tortures him — for weeks — and he still refuses to stop loving her. Not soft, aesthetic dark romance. Actual brutal, emotionally warped devotion.

That said, there is one scene in chapter 44 that did make me uncomfortable. I didn’t enjoy it. But I can admit it added a very important layer to their dynamic. It didn’t feel like shock value for its own sake. It reinforced how warped, loyal and emotionally broken their bond truly is.

It screamed, “Whatever she did to him… however low she stooped with her torture — he would stay. He wouldn’t abandon her. He wouldn’t let her go again.”

Also, while reading the book, there were definitely moments and situations that would be very questionable in real life. But within the context of this story and this genre, those same messy, morally grey choices actually made the reading experience more intense, more addictive, and far more emotionally loaded for me.

This is messy. Violent. Emotional. Twisted. Addictive. Not a comfort read — but an unhinged, high-stakes, emotionally loaded mafia ride that absolutely kept me glued.

⚠️ Trigger warning: this book deals with dark and potentially distressing themes that may not work for everyone — please check the trigger warnings before picking it up.

So this was an ARC read for me, and I truly appreciate the author sending me a copy for an honest review

So this book was good, its split into 2 parts, the first part starts off in the past, introducing the characters in a hot and heavy scene, which we love.. but we have a complicated situation (which reveals itself and you get the full explanation throughout the book) - I will admit it was a little rough to read, I dont have any triggers, but this one hit a little close to home, but I persevered and enjoyed it. The second part dives 6 years into the future and this is where it really kicks off.

I will say this, im really not a fan of the amnesia trope. This one just didnt really pull me in straight away. I kind of got really pulled in after the halfway mark. I just had to keep reading to know what was happening.

You really need to focus while reading this one, especially in the second part as there is a lot going on. For me personally there was a bit too much going on, and in some parts I just felt like some parts probably weren't necessary and some things just didn't make sense, but I did find while reading that certain sentences weren't worded correctly which could explain why things didnt make sense to me (or maybe I am just daft and didnt pay attention properly!) but I will say that I definitely got into it more once I passed that half way mark.

I really could see the potential in this book, with the storyline and the characters (the FMC pissed me off a lot, and the MMC was just pathetic in some parts - completely my opinion)

Not my usual style of read but im glad I read it!

PLEASE CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING BECAUSE THIS IS A DARK ROMANCE AND WILL NOT BE FOR EVERYONE... SO KNOW YOUR LIMITS AND HAPPY READING!!

Mafia princess chaos

I enjoyed the story of this book Lea is a mafia princess who is planned to marry someone for status and power. So she plans to ruin peoples plans and goes to a rival, Dante is much older and should be off limits but she's desperate.
Dante really is unhinged and Lea was just as unhinged too they matched each other's crazy.
So much happened and I was sad at parts and hoped things would work out. I couldn't stop reading though I needed to know if the baddies got what was coming to them.
The characters were nicely done and I like the mafia dynamic.
My favourite has to be Luca her brother is just funny and willing to back her up, Dante was second as he was just hopelessly in love from the start. Then Russo, is a loyal bodyguard who was so adorable with kids.
I hope there's a book about Luca or Russo these two were awesome Luca calm in the face of danger seemed like such a flirt too.

it was ok

I give this a 3.5/4 just because I wasn’t fully invested in the story. Everytime I started to get invested something happened to push me back
