You may have heard talk about Vigo Johannsen and his family?

Well you can now experience their depravity and vileness in one volume. Alternate between swallowing that little bit of sick in your mouth and rolling with laughter at the darkest comedy moments

First up is the short and tasty teaser, A Very Vigo Christmas.

Who comes to visit the houses of children on Christmas Eve? Thanks right, it’s Stinky Jack. The intruder unmasked, Mr ‘Sausage’ might come to hope he never entered the Johannsen mansion.

Then meet Prickles.

The prequel to the depravity that is Vigo introduces us to (Prickles) and his friends. Down and out and down on luck, a game or two with weirdos even weirder than you, with a cash prize that you can only dream of comes your way. What could possibly go wrong?!?

Then comes Vigo.

If you like extreme with an extra layer of gross, you’ve found it here! I had to pause at page 5 as I was physically retching and having to breathe through my nose.

If you don’t have triggers, you will still find them in here.

And once your triggers have all been triggered, dive into Vigo 2.

When Uncle Hans and his side of the family come swarming to claim their inheritance, you better believe that Vigo, Sweetheart and Piggy have got a fight on their hands.

I loved the crossover with Prickles and the host of new and ever more disgusting characters.

And if you are still reading and are brave enough, grab your peanut butter, settle down on the sofa and hold your stomach.

I’ve already read these individually, but to read them again all together was even better.

If you’re looking for something depraved, stomach churning and maybe wanna question your sanity then look no further, this is totally for you.

I’m not one to re-read many books, but these was fucking brilliant.

Wow, what a wild, vile ride. Loved it. This is the collected Vigo works so far. Here we follow Vigo and his deranged family from a violence-fueled childhood to full-scale madness as adults. Not only is the story suitably gross and depraved, but the characters are some of the most unique, well fleshed-out of any I've read in splatter/extreme. An instant fave and an easy 5 stars.

Reading these depraved works together brings out their coherence and absolute vileness in ways not easily experienced when read separately: I can attest that each one of the Vigo series of stories doesn't just take extreme horror comedy to new heights, it also opens up new territories in relation to moral corruption, baseness and loathsome acts - but experiencing all of them in a single volume will test the boundaries even of splatterporn and extreme horror veterans! At some point, you feel that Allison has reached the limits of extreme horror resources (can a family go any lower?!), and then, with a well-placed comical scene, he exceeds what's gone before, and adds a nasty bit of some sick and revolting novelty I for one hadn't seen coming! The only thing keeping the reader from constantly gagging is the dark, very dark humor, and the bleak, very bleak honesty.

Vigo's family is a mess (to put it midly). He's been abused by everyone, he's been taken for granted by his siblings, and has never had the slightest chance to grow up into a healthy, "normal" human being; and he fully knows it. The book begins with the very short "A Very Vigo Christmas," where Vigo and his siblings as children are shown to handle a home invader in the only way they know: they welcome him to the family by extending a helping hand (or two, or three) when he finds himself lost in the family mansion - this is a Christmas tale, after all, and as such it's meant to ease the reader in before the inevitable. "Prickles" is next, and once you discover the meaning of the title, the games have begun: who knew that Vigo's family has its own perverted version of the Squid Game? Well, if you stay after this story, you have no excuse - you brought this on yourself! Coz "Vigo" awaits right after, a masterclass in how to vividly describe scenes of domestic abuse and detailed images of perverted interfamily relationships led by a repulsive patriarch. The twists are so dark you'll need to put the book down begging for some breathing space, the humor so dry your skin will grow itchy! And then, there's "Vigo 2": a gross and vile account of a family reunion noone asked for: neither Vigo and his sister-cousin Sweetheart nor their brother-cousin Piggy saw any of this coming - time to rearrange the furniture (yes, that's a filthy pun, don't ask, just read the book).

If you think you've seen it all in extreme horror, Allison will open your eyes to some new wild possibilities. If you enjoy dark comedy, this also fits the bill! In all honesty, this is one of the wildest and vilest things I've ever read!

Okay, I don't know where I was when 'Prickles' came out (probably tit deep in a TBR rivaling the 7 wonders), but I missed the memo. This collection was the perfect excuse to see what all the fuss was about, and DAMN. I get it now.

I thought I had read pretty much every variation/manner of depravity thats in the splatterpunk/extreme horror world. Let's be real, there are some incredibly creative people (past and present) dropping nukes of taboo and carnage! Kelvin V.A Allison violently tore that idea away from me with this demented family, and their descendants bred from the pits of hillbilly hell.

'Flesh and Family' is 3 novels and a bonus, bloody holiday tale following the Johannsen clan. You have violence, family love that knows no bounds, and revulsion on every page! What's not to love?

The Christmas novella was the perfect bite-sized into to the Johannsen's and set the mood for the progression of the collection. Once I got in to 'Prickles', I had to stop and think "Did he really just write that??"

I was afraid for probably the first time that someone could read the filth from over my shoulder. Even just looking at the content made me feel like I was committing a crime. I even tried to stop, and it called to me. In the end, it got what it wanted and I don't know if I'll ever be able to get that part of myself back.
Just when you think it can't get any worse, it somehow does. Allison's work on the 'Gomorrah' series put him on the radar for me, and this solidified how consistent he is in his story building and character development. This is a collection that makes you question if you're smelling something through the pages, leaves your stomach feeling sick, and a splash of guilt on your conscience.

This was a solid 4.5 ⭐️ for me and I can't wait to see what else he is able to top this with next.

I think if I read Vigo 1 and 2 before prickles and the Christmas one I would of known what was going on more! I don’t know if it’s my little autistic ass but I struggled to picture what the characters looked like and what the whole dynamic was! But then reading Vigo really helped and got that sorted!
Loved the plot of Prickles and the Christmas one and did enjoy!
Loved Vigo 1 and 2

This was my first book by this author and wasn't it a great read. Parts made my stomach churn - but in a good way just the way I like it. I loved each character and loved the story line. I did not want it to end. Kelvin V.A. Allison certainly has a new fan here - looking forward to reading more.
