Clarksville remembers the monster...but most of the city doesn’t remember the truth.
Decades ago, a winged guardian watched over the city from the skies…until fear turned him into a statue and stone became his prison. For the past twenty years, the city slept beneath calm skies, believing the threat was gone.
Until a storm brought a destructive tornado that undid everything.
Now bodies are appearing, with ancient symbols carved in them that have the city on edge. Rumors are spreading about a monster moving through the night, and Lieutenant Detective Shy Brooks is bracing for the possibility of the rumors to be true.
But what if the monster’s return isn’t the only reckoning?
Others are waking, old rivalries are resurfacing, and a powerful necklace becomes the key to control over more than just the skies.
It doesn’t take long for a wealthy heir, Reign, sparks fear, resurrects an old war, turning Clarksville into a battleground for forces older than the city itself.
But this time, the monster isn’t alone. And neither is the city.
My Kold is a Great writer and this is just another one to add to the List…. If His not your favorite he will be.. The Main reason is he’s a great Author.. This book is the start of a great Series I already Know it.. it’s a story about gargoyles and when I tell you that the beginning is just the start of a great story. If you like gargoyles, you must check this book out.
I read across all kinds of genres, and I’ve been rocking with Kold since he first started dropping these heat-filled stories but this one? Yeah… it hit different.
The way this story was told pulled me in immediately while still leaving me wanting more, which isn’t easy to do. It’s a shorter read, but it never felt lacking. Instead, it felt intentional like Kold was carefully laying the groundwork and setting the tone for everything that’s about to unfold.
Knowing this is the first book in a five-book series, it’s clear this one is about building the foundation and giving us just enough to get invested. And baby… I am INVESTED.
I’m excited to see where he takes this world next because if this is just the beginning, I already know he’s got more up his sleeve. Another strong start from an author who continues to prove his range. 🔥📚
This is my first gargoyle read and so I really wasn't sure how I would feel about it. I thoroughly enjoyed this quick urban paranormal. I am a fan of KOLD's previous works and he definitely did his thing with this story. The way this story starts with action and keeps up that same adrenaline rush through the whole story while still having plot twists that get you hyped for what is coming next is signature KOLD. The fight scenes are epic, I could see it all unfolding like a movie in my mind. Highly anticipating the next book in this series.
First let me say this isn't your typical paranormal book. It reads like a murder mystery movie and shocks you every page. I have never seen anything like this. I enjoyed this book so much because its like you're watching a movie, but reading it. This was so dope and it's definitely paying homage to Goliath from the 80's cartoons Gargoyles, but with up to date flair. They have swag, grills, and 13 inches I'm going to leave that right there lol. All in all a fantastic book.
Oh man this was good! I hope the next show drops soon! Yes show! I felt like I was watching a modern version of gargoyle and that was one of my favorite shows growing up! Talk about Nostalgia... Cypher I can't wait to see how his story plays out. Grim I think you wrote a check your ahh cant cash. I dont think that prophecy was for you. Drezzzz you a real one still fighting for a city and people who betrayed you. I definitely recommend!
Can't wait for the rest of the rest if the series!
It was the plot twist for me. Just when you think its going on way, KOLD takes you the other way. Can't wait for book 2. See how Drz and Grim finally meet for the epic vattle.
This was good, the concept was really interesting! I loved Gargoyles growing up so I definitely had to tune in. I liked Shy as a detective! This was good for real. I’m excited for part two! I lowkey understand Grim lol but Drez is right, just leave the humans alone lol.
This first book or as the author says, episode, was really good. Especially for the author's first foray into fantasy. I cannot wait until the next episode & yes I need it now.
In my opinion, it’s a dope spin on the Gargoyles show, allowing fans of the show from the past to re-appreciate it in today’s times, while allowing those not familiar with the show to go back and see why it was such a big piece of many people’s childhoods. Great job
I loved the gargoyles as a kid and to read about them with an urban twist, KOLD understood the assignment!! I can’t wait for part 2. Drez & Cypher about to be a dynamic duo lol
