As a long-time reader of Hailey’s work, I’ve come to expect a specific, delightful blend of cozy vibes, magical beings, and a love story that is impossible not to get lost in—all with that perfect hint of spice. When I heard about this human/gargoyle forbidden romance, I was instantly hooked. I had the pleasure of reading this before its release, and it was the perfect addition to my "Summerween" era.

The story follows Lark, a woman who has taken refuge in an enchanted manor alongside other wayward women who have nowhere else to go. The manor is a sanctuary, but it comes with a terrifying rule: once the third bell chimes at night, the doors lock to keep out the bloodthirsty beasts roaming the grounds. If you’re caught outside after the bells, you’re on your own until dawn.

Lark’s life changes when she is rescued by Gideon, a stone gargoyle she has been sitting with daily in the manor’s cemetery while she reads from the archives. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and who isn’t ready for a devoted gargoyle who comes to life at night to sweep you off your feet?

The book is a quick-paced read, though it leans into a very slow-burn romance. The spice is saved for the final chapter, with just a few teasing hints leading up to it. The writing is beautiful and truly immersive, making it easy to root for Lark and Gideon’s hard-won happy ever after.

If I had one wish, it would be for a bit more backstory on the other women living in the manor. I found myself so invested in their plight—being married off for coin to beings of the night—that I would have loved even more depth regarding their individual journeys. Hopefully, this is something we’ll see explored in future books!

Overall, Under the Stone Moon is a fantastic, atmospheric read. I am officially crossing my fingers for more in this series—keep the creature/magical being "daddies" coming!

Okay, I really loved this book. It hooked me immediately and kept me fully entertained. Meadowlark is a wonderful FMC. She is strong, smart, and she doesn’t have a single ounce of quit in her. She loves fiercely and she isn’t afraid to fight for what is right. Now Gideon, our MMC is a total dream. He is a Gargoyle who is trapped into an oath that he was made to take. He watches our Meadowlark for a very long time and becomes enraptured by her. Of course she doesn’t realize the Gargoyle statue that she leans on to read is in fact a very real Gargoyle, but she definitely figures it out due to so unfortunate circumstances. This is a cozy and sweet PNR. I give it a 4✨ and a 1🌶️.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much Hailey!

My first gargoyle romance, and definitely not my last. This was also my first book by Hailey Blackwood and it did not disappoint- her storytelling is amazing. Gideon was written *perfectly* and I loved Meadowlark too. I dooooo wish there was a little more spice, but that’s just a personal preference hehe… Crossing my fingers we get books for Raphael and the sisters of the manor.🤞🏼

Thank you for the advanced copy!

The book was such a cozy romantasy with low stakes which sometimes for me felt borderline boring but nevertheless I enjoyed it. The FMC was fierce on her own way and MMC was soo wholesome was so protective yet so gentle was her. The female friendship was also a good add I found myself wanting more of their interactions. It was sweet seeing all them with their different personalities and interests all interacting together. I guess the following books of the series will continue with each of her friends storylines and NGL I’m intrigued

All in all this was a good cozy romantasy read and will recommend if any of the tropes are in your alley

I absolutely loved this story! Following Lark, a woman that's housed in the Maybury Manor, a sanctuary for lost ladies. Here she lives and cares for the garden with her found sisters and the women of the house. Shortly after the story begins we learn that the old master of the house passed away and the new young Lord Maybury has come and informed them that the manor is in financial ruins. Now these women can't just leave as it is one of the only safe places from the beasts that lurk at night. Also unmarried women aren't safe in the male dominated realm. To help save the manor young Lord Maybury decides to sell the women off to creatures of the night. Lark doesn't want this and she ends up on the wrong side of the gate at night, where danger lurks. However an unlikely person, being, comes to her rescue. The gargoyle that sits in the garden that she spends many days under reading, singing, and finding peace. This gargoyle, named Gideon, wants to protect her, so when Lark finds out she's set to be married to the shadowkind prince for her womb, she begs Gideon to help.
A monsteresk romance that has light spice, no closed door romance here. With light problems and a cozy gothic romance vibe I absolutely loved this story as a pallet cleanser for in-depth fantasy books. I absolutely loved the story and hope the series continues on with the other sisters of Maybury Manor. So many unanswered questions regarding them that I must know if everyone else gets their hea.

🌑 “I did not wish to be a monster. I would be monstrous, for her, if I must. But only if I must.”

Meadowlark, Lark for short, is one of ten women who live in an abandoned castle. At night the outside is crawling with things that will ensure their death. Now the property is being sold and then women are forced to marry complete strangers. Lark doesn’t know that a certain gargoyle has been watching and protecting her. What she also doesn’t know is, he has already claimed her.

Rating: 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Under the Stone Moon is a cozy, gothic romantasy that is filled with humor, sweet but spicy romance, and high stakes.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and setting. The castle did give the story that gothic touch and I really loved that. The atmosphere was still cozy.

This is my first time reading a monster romance with a gargoyle and I found it super interesting. I want to know more about their laws and the covienent mentioned! I thought Gideon was a great character. He has that drive to protect, which really fit the gargoyle type.

The romance between Gideon and Lark was so sweet. There were so many tender moments that made it easy to feel the chemistry between them.

I reccomedn this book if you like Monster romance, and mix of cozy and gothic, and books that have fall vibes.

Thank you so much to Hailey Blackwood for the copy of Under the Stone Moon. All opinions are my own.

In a hidden world where magic and mythical creatures intertwine, a castle brims with laughter, love, and the bonds of sisterhood among the women who reside there, all under the guidance of their enigmatic mistress. These women, sold as brides, are destined to marry men who cannot find wives on their own. Among them is Lark, a spirited rebel who scorns the idea of being wed to a cruel man.

However, everything changes when a fateful night disrupts their lives. Against the castle’s strict rules, Lark ventures out after dark, only to be pursued by sinister creatures. In her frantic attempt to flee, she injures her ankle but refuses to succumb to the pain. Seeking refuge, she stumbles into a crypt near the castle grounds.

Inside, she is engulfed by unsettling sounds and, amidst the chaos, suffers a head injury. As she regains her senses, she hears a voice and feels as if she’s losing her grip on reality. Suddenly, a massive shadow looms before her, revealing Gideon, a majestic gargoyle. In that moment, Lark pleads for his help to escape her impending, loveless marriage. To her surprise, Gideon agrees, igniting a powerful connection between them, fueled by protection and undeniable chemistry.

This thrilling journey of courage and unexpected love unfolds against a backdrop of magic and adventure, challenging the boundaries of fate and choice.

Give me a cozy fantasy, a little magic, and a swoony gargoyle romance, and I am absolutely sold. 🥹🖤✨

Under the Stone Moon was such a sweet and comforting read! There was something so lovely about the way this story blended cozy fantasy vibes with romance, giving me a magical little escape that I was more than happy to get lost in.

I adored the gargoyle element—it was such a fun and unique addition, and watching the romance develop had me smiling like a complete fool. 🥰 There’s something incredibly charming about a story that can feel magical and romantic while still having that warm, cozy atmosphere that makes you want to curl up with a blanket and a cup of tea.

The characters were easy to root for, and I really enjoyed watching their connection grow throughout the story. There were plenty of cute, heartwarming moments that made this feel like such an enjoyable comfort read.

While I would have loved a little more depth in a few areas, I still had such a wonderful time reading this one. If you're looking for something magical, cozy, romantic, and just a little bit different, definitely add this to your TBR! 💕📖

🌶️: 2/5

Lark’s fire, her bravery I admire. But Gideon? 🥺

The way Gideon cares for Lark genuinely made me tear up more than once. There’s something so innocent and sweet about the way he just wants to care for her and protect her, and he’s completely content with that. He doesn’t need anything in return; he just wants her safe and happy. It was ADORABLE.

Now, are there plot holes? Yes. Is it a little hard to follow at times? Also yes. Does it take a bit to really get going? Absolutely. There were definitely moments where I was sitting there like, Wait… what is happening? 😂

But honestly? Gideon was worth the wait. Once we started getting more of his POV, I was sold. I could’ve read an entire book from inside that man’s head. His tenderness toward Lark was easily my favorite part of the story and probably the biggest reason this rating ended up at a 3.5 instead of a straight 3.

The plot may have lost me a few times, but Gideon never did. 🥺

This book was a bit different than the other books this author has written but still quite cozy at parts. The story had layers within each character that was presented which I love. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were going to be books about the other characters and I would be ecstatic about it. Every character had their own personality and a description that left you wanting to know more about their past and especially their future as the story progresses. The main character, Lark, had the best sense of humor and I absolutely loved how much she stood up for herself but all her sisters as well. Oh, the gargoyle captured my heart with his innocence and devotion. I will say there were parts that felt a bit underwhelming as well as the ending but the love story still swept me away with a smile

I give it 3.5 ⭐️

Under the Stone Moon was such a sweet and cozy fantasy romance. I really liked Lark and her determination to stand up not only for herself, but for the other women at the manor too. But Gideon was definitely my favorite. There was something so sweet about his devotion to Lark and how protective he was of her.
I also really enjoyed the whole idea of the manor, the creatures that come out at night and, of course, the gargoyle romance. It gave the story that little bit of darkness and magic that I love while still keeping the cozy feeling.
A cute, magical and easy read with romance, friendship and a very lovable gargoyle. I would definitely read more from this world, especially if the other women at the manor get their own stories.

Thank you so much Hailey for letting me be a part of your team.❤️🌺

Under the Stone Moon had a really interesting concept, and that’s what kept me turning the pages. The world and overall premise are unique and have so much potential, which made me curious to see where the story was headed.

For me, though, the pacing was a bit slow in places, and the story dragged enough that I found it difficult to stay fully immersed. I caught myself getting distracted at times instead of being completely pulled into the world.

That said, I still enjoyed the story overall, and I’m hopeful this is one of those series that continues to build with each book. I have a feeling there’s a lot more at play in this world than we’ve seen so far, and I’m looking forward to learning more as the series develops.

Under the Stone Moon is such a sweet, heartfelt read! Lark’s hilariously snarky inner monologue had me laughing out loud, while Gideon’s innocence and fierce, unwavering devotion to her stole my heart completely. If only every person on this planet could find a partner that devoted!

The story is a wonderful mix of cozy vibes, action, humor, and just the right amount of spice. I did notice one minor continuity hiccup (a demon character swapped from female to male and back to female), but it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the book.

I really hope this is the start of a series! There are still a few loose ends and things left unsaid that I’m dying to know more about. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a charming, romantic cozy fantasy!

As a long time fan of Hailey’s it’s safe to say I ate this up. Her Moonvale series introduced me to cozy monster romances so of course I had to read her next start to a series!

Some things I loved to see:
-the bond between the women in the castle, it’s nice to see sisterhood and that family bond when it’s chosen and not born into it
-the gargoyle, I loved his chapters the most! It was super intriguing to see how he lived? Was alive? Whatever it is a gargoyle is
-the strength the FMC found throughout the book

I only wish it didn’t end so abruptly, it felt unfinished and I just kept clicking my kindle wondering wtf was going on, but it’s meant to be like that, so here’s to impatiently waiting for the next book!

A cozy romance that is the perfect bite size story!

Meadowlark is fiercely independent, living with other women in an abandoned castle they call home. The only rule they must follow is do not stay out after dark, but when the castle is sold she is forced to be marry. Lark finds solace with a guard made out of stone whom she confesses her heartbreak and shares her secrets with. Unbeknownst that her gargoyle is made out magic and can hear her despair.

Gideon is smitten with the beauty Lark, who talks to him when made of stone. When he comes alive at night, he is determined to keep her safe. When he finds that she is to marry, he will do everything he can to keep her. Hoping that his love will be enough to keep his stone heart beating.

Hailey does an amazing job pulling you into her worlds and falling in love with her characters. Giving you all of the cozy feels with her charming stories.

Thank you so much for the gifted copy @authorhaileyblackwood!!

Hailey brings another cozy fantasy but this time it’s a gargoyle MMC and human FMC. Lark is snarky and strong willed and wanting to not be forced into a marriage she doesn’t want. She also wants to protect the other ladies. I absolutely loved Gideon and his quiet devotion. But don’t be fooled. That quiet part is a bit forced. Under the Stone Moon has a great balance of romance, action, cozy, and damsel in distress. Lark is also grows to be very capable. So don’t let the damsel in distress deter you. Hailey always give the MMC’s there moments to be the knight in shining armor while still giving you a good strong FMC.

Under the Stone Moon, by Hailey Blackwood, is a fun, cozy romantasy.
I have never had much interest in monster romance, but this book was really good.
I loved Gideon’s naïveté; it made him that much sweeter.
One thing I would have liked is more of a storyline between Roan and Lark. He was just king of there, and we didn’t get to know him at all. Lark mentions knowing what he is like, but we don’t know.
Otherwise, it was a really good book. If you are in the mood for a cozy romantasy with a devoted MMC, I highly recommend Under the Stone Moon.

This book was my first Gargoyle monster romance and I loved the found family the FMC Lark has with the other women at the manor they share. There is a scene in the dining room with their potential husbands that cracked me up! Gideon, the MMC is such a green flag, he is a sweetheart wanting to protect Lark. While I enjoyed the women's friendship and the yearning between Lark and Gideon, the pacing was a bit slow for me at times and the inner thoughts were a bit repetitive. However, I still recommend for anyone who loves a slow build or loves a monster romance.

This was a really fast read, it’s a PNR with a feisty fmc and a protective mmc. It hooks you in and makes you laugh. I love Hailey’s books and can recommend them all 🥰 Some questions arose at the beginning, and if you’re patient they will be answered throughout from the middle towards the end. Definitely a cozy fantasy romance.
I received this book as an arc, thank you for the opportunity to read this book, I truly enjoyed it 🥰

I love Hailey's writing and storytelling, and this book did not disappoint.

This is the perfect cozy fantasy and a wonderful feel-good palate cleanser. Lark is feisty, Gideon is fiercely protective, and their relationship develops naturally throughout an adventure filled with magic, mystery, and heart.

The world-building is charming and easy to become immersed in, and the cast of supporting characters adds warmth, humour, and personality to every chapter. The balance between the romance, adventure, and magic makes this a comforting and thoroughly enjoyable read.

I genuinely hope this series continues with the other ladies of Maybury Manor. I'd love the chance to explore their stories and spend more time in this world.

When I started reading this I was a little unsure what to think but the author managed to explain the emotions of the characters in such a way you really do get sucked right into the book with them. Sometimes in these sort of books you can see everything coming before it happens and this definitely caught me by surprise a little bit. An absolutely lovely read

Reading Under the Stone Moon felt like drinking hot chocolate while wearing a blanket on a chilly morning. I loved the friendship between Lark and all the ladies. I would love to get a book for each lady to be honest! Every time they were on page, I kept wanting more.
I loved Gideon so much. He was so respectful and put Lark above everything no matter what. I loved how thoughtful and sweet he was from start to finish. I loved how all he ever wanted was her freedom and happiness.

Now, if you've read any of Hailey's other books, this story is a bit different than her other work but I really loved it and hope we get more books of the other ladies!!
