They were once children stitched together like a promise. She was his safety, his tether, his everything. Until she chose someone else and left him to rot in the aftermath. She thought she could replace him. She was wrong. Now nothing holds him back. Not blood. Not even her screams. He doesn't chase her, he claims her. He twists obsession into ritual, love into ruin, and forces her to remember who she truly belongs to. Everyone thought he was safe... But he was hiding his fangs...
This was such a dark, suspenseful, and emotionally heavy read, and out of the series so far I think this was the one that affected me the most emotionally. There were multiple moments throughout the story that genuinely had me tearing up, which surprised me because I did not react that strongly to the previous books. The atmosphere throughout felt darker, more obsessive, and far more emotionally charged, which really worked for me.
Dimitri was such an interesting character to dive into. I will admit that his selective mutism initially grated on me a little, mostly because similar themes had already been explored earlier in the series, so at first it felt repetitive. While I could absolutely understand the reasoning and trauma behind it, the selective sign language at times really frustrated me because it sometimes felt like unnecessary avoidance rather than communication. Despite that though, Dimitri completely fascinated me. The way he loved, protected, and obsessed over the people he considered his was intoxicating to read. There is something about a possessive, emotionally damaged man in dark romance that just works, and Dimitri embodied that perfectly.
The connection between Dimitri and Aya felt inevitable from the very beginning. Their attachment to each other from such a young age made everything feel so much more intense emotionally because you could feel how deeply rooted their bond was long before either of them fully understood it themselves. My heart genuinely hurt for Dimitri when Aya revealed she was dating someone else because you could practically feel the betrayal, heartbreak, and desperation radiating from him without him even needing to verbalize it. Considering how close and attached they were, I was honestly shocked it even got to that point before he found out.
One thing I both loved and struggled with was how overwhelmingly powerful Dimitri was compared to the other men in the series. On one hand, I absolutely loved how dangerous, possessive, and dominant he felt because it made every scene involving him so addictive to read. On the other hand, it almost made some of the previous male characters who had been built up as these terrifyingly powerful men feel diminished in comparison, which was a little disappointing because I had grown attached to them too. Dimitri’s presence was just so intense that he naturally overshadowed almost everyone around him.
I also think this book had one of the strongest balances between tension, plot, spice, and emotional damage. The suspense kept me constantly wanting to continue reading, while the chemistry and darker obsessive elements kept the emotional intensity high throughout. Nothing ever felt too overwhelming in one direction because there was always enough plot and emotional development mixed in with the darker romance elements to keep the story engaging.
Overall, I thought this was a really addictive dark romance that balanced heartbreak, obsession, suspense, and emotional vulnerability incredibly well, and I would absolutely continue this series if the author decides to expand on this world further.
This book is dark, suspenseful, and absolutely amazing. The way Dimitri is mute but still so loud with his actions alone is incredible. He doesn’t feel washed out, or bland, or even quiet. His actions, expressions, and presence speaks louder than any voice could. Aya is a powerful FMC, which is rare in itself in dark romance. She doesn’t let Dimitri push her around, even though she’s in his mercy, her control is still there. This book made me laugh, cry (and cry some more), gasp, clutch my pearls and giggle. It’s dark, so check your trigger warnings. But this book is absolutely worth the read.
Sinful rivalry is a dark and deadly romance that drags you into a violent and obsessive world where the love is anything but soft. Roles reverse when the kidnapper becomes the kidnapped and the captured becomes the savior, the suspense had he shackled from start to finish and I loved every tortured moment Easy 5 star read for me !
Sinful Rivalry completely wrecked me in the best way. This book is dark, obsessive, emotional, and honestly a little unhinged, but it somehow still manages to feel deeply romantic underneath all the chaos. Aya and Dimitri’s relationship is intense from the very beginning, especially knowing their history. That childhood bond turned into something possessive and all-consuming made every interaction feel loaded with tension and meaning.
Dimitri as a main character was everything I wanted and more. The fact that he’s mute adds such a unique layer to his character, and yet you never feel like he’s lacking a voice. His actions, his presence, and the way he expresses himself made him feel louder than most MMCs. He’s brutal, obsessive, and morally grey in the darkest sense, but there’s also something deeply vulnerable about him that just hits. Learning more about his past and what shaped him made everything hurt that much more.
Aya was a strong counterpart to him. I really liked that she didn’t just immediately fold, there’s resistance, fear, confusion, and emotion that makes her feel real in such an extreme situation. Their dynamic is messy and toxic in a way that somehow still pulls you in instead of pushing you away.
The story itself balances brutality with emotion so well. There are moments that are genuinely shocking, moments that are heartbreaking, and then random scenes that had me giggling despite everything. It’s a wild emotional ride. The darker elements are not watered down at all, so definitely check trigger warnings, but if you love heavy, obsessive dark romance, this delivers.
The spice builds and then really hits in the second half, and when it does, it’s intense, fitting the characters perfectly without feeling thrown in just for the sake of it.
Having read this in its beta stage, I didn’t think I could love it more, but somehow this version made me even more obsessed. Dimitri has easily secured a top spot in my book boyfriend ranking.
If you’re going into this, take the reading order warning seriously. This is not a standalone you can casually jump into without missing a lot.
Once again Ashleigh wrote another banger of a dark romance. This is how dark romance should be written. It was dark, unhinged, spicy, emotional and I loved every second of it. I was feeling all the emotions while reading this, I even cried and ofc Ashleigh heard about it haha. It wrecked me and put me back together all at the same time.
The character development of Dimitri in this book has easily put him as my number 1 book boyfriend. Hearing more about his trauma from book 2, how it affected him really put it into perspective of how far he’s come and how much he fights for the people he loves. Even tho he is mute, his actions truly speak louder than words. I love him so much, he’s also a hot asf morally black MMC so like what more could you want hehe
Aya the FMC is such a bad fkn bitch. I love her and her ability to make the big “scary” men in her life obey every order. But she also has the biggest soft spot for Dimitri and folds instantly with just the way he looks at her (same girl same). Aya and Dimitri’s story started from when they were literally toddlers and in a way this bond between them helped Aya be able to save him from himself because she is the only person able to ground him. I’m so glad we got to see their relationship blossom even if it started in the most f-ed up way
I ate this book up and everyone needs to read this asap. But trust me when I say you need to read the first 2 books in this series because you might get a bit confused with who each character is and how they are all relate to each other.
Anyway if you take one thing away from this review it better be that you should read it because you need to read this and I fear I will now not shut up about this book
This is a book that you should only read after the first 2 books in the series to better understand the characters and their back stories. Also, I highly recommend you to read the trigger warnings list in case you have any. Your mental health is important, and if this book i not for you, it's okay, but there are some of us who like the darkness of this book.
Moving forward, we get to meet Dimitri in book 2, and I was so interested in where he was going to be in the future, and I am forever grateful that we got his story!
Dimitri is a man who has heavily traumatized in his childhood, and he has gone mute by trauma. Aya is a mafia princess who wanted something normal.
I don't want to rewrite the premise of the book on my review, so please read it if you are interested.
Now, the good stuff: I LOVE DIMITRI AND AYA! They are both feral for each other and possessive, protective, and obsessed. I personally disliked Aya because: why did you take so long to love my man?!!!! But also I understood that maybe he was not what he wanted at the beginning... or so, she thought.
Their possession for each other is intoxicating, and how fiercely they protect and vengeance each other is beautifully so them.
This book has to break you to put you back together. I genuinely cried, and the author will probably know in what part! 😭🩷
I loved seeing their parents and siblings! And I am hoping to get to see more of them!!
Please read it if you like really dark and toxic romance ♡ with hot people and hot parents.
Thank you for the opportunity to read their story!!!
Wow, this is what dark romance is all about 🤩 This book grabbed me in its clutches from start to finish! There was suspense, yearning, gore, hostage situations, lots of tears, and yummy hot spicy scenes 🥵🔥 The main characters were so wicked and awesome, their chemistry is off the charts ❤️🔥 Dimitri is the ultimate MMC, he's tall, dark and handsome, extra possesive, totally unhinged and unafraid to go to any lengths for his obsession 😍 I absolutely loved how this book kept surprising me in the most delicious ways, I was both extremely intrigued with the plot and riveted by the steamy scenes that packed a lot of heat, and then bawling my eyes out at one point 😭 Definite 5⭐️ read for me 😁
Wow, I LOVED this book. I could not put it down. This is book 3 in the series, book 1 & 2 were amazing to me and didn’t think it could be topped, alas here we are!
This book has a lengthy trigger page so please read those before reading & also read book 1 and 2.
The MMC development in the book had me super interested, I was curious to see where it would go and if his past would come back to haunt him. The obsession, the smut scenes, the darkness was top tier. I want to read it again already! Highly recommend if you love dark romance, as I said previously PLEASE check triggers ❤️
Clear your schedule ladies and gents, buckle in and don’t forget the tissues.
This story follows the daughter of book1 MCs and the son of book2 MCs. But don’t be fooled, book3 is darker than the other two with a multiple page TW list, so please don’t forget to check those.
Once again, I struggled to put the book down, and I wish I could delete it from my mind, just to reread it again. This is my favourite one yet. Don’t get me wrong, I love the other two and the characters Ashleigh has created, but Dimi is my favourite.
Can’t wait to see what is next, so come on Ashleigh, time to tippity tap!
I screamed, laughed, cried, threw my brand new kindle, cried some more, giggled and then cried EVEN MORE to this book. If you think that you can handle DARK romance, please spread this book wide open and get to reading like a good little Olenka. Dimitri is not just morally grey, he’s darker than black, so strap yourself in, get some tissues ready (and maybe a vibrator) and enjoy the ride.
This book is highly addictive sat down and read in 1 sitting Dimitri Voronov has me in a complete chokehold and Aya Di Salvo is the epitome of feminine rage! If you like your fmc as feisty as your mmc then this is the book for you!
Oh my god bro I read this in one night! I couldn’t look away 😭 it was such a good rollercoaster got me feeling every emotion. And the main characters were such good characters too! I loved this book.
Ashleigh has done it again; sinful rivalry is a masterpiece that will have you stuck in place until you finish. Dimitri will have you wishing you had your own pretty mute psycho to call you his. This story follows Aya (follows or drags you in to her world depending how you see it ;)) Aya a mafia princess who just wants to hang out the side of cars, go shopping with her best friend Dimi and become a criminal defence lawyer for Casa di Salvo. Which was fine until her boyfriend send a text to dimi. So whoes Dimitri (dimi) he’s the monster that keeps bad men up at night, Aya best friend and her shadow (stalker in a good way). he’s tall, scarred, tortured and a mute (with some sexy tattoos too). he will blow up the world to get to her. But what happens when he snaps…. you will have to read to find out. Oh, and the spice level off the chart
