Burn Protocol
For women who walk through fire

Lieutenant Elena Gonzales has spent her life running away from her past and into the flames. Decorated, respected, and untouchable, she’s Barcelona’s most composed firefighter. Until journalist Maya Carter walks into her station with a recorder, a sharp tongue, and a story that’s supposed to be about bravery.

What starts as a forced assignment becomes something neither of them expects — a connection forged through smoke, loss, and banter over coffee. But when tragedy strikes, Elena’s walls shatter, and Maya finds herself holding more than just a story.

Now their love faces the same question as every call Elena
when the world around you burns, what do you choose to save — your duty, your truth, or each other?

BURN PROTOCOL is a slow-burn sapphic romance about courage, vulnerability, and the women who walk through fire to help rise each other from the ashes.

A beautifully balanced slow burn full of heart and heat

What a story. This book delivers the perfect mix of sweetness and excitement, keeping you wanting more from beginning to end. It’s a wonderfully crafted slow burn with just the right amount of build-up leading to the inevitable relationship between Elena and Maya. Every moment feels intentional, and the pacing allows their connection to unfold naturally and beautifully.

The tension between Elena and Maya is utterly captivating, and their chemistry is completely off the charts. There’s a seamless blend of tender, heartfelt moments and well-placed spice throughout the book that makes their journey even more satisfying. I was thoroughly invested in their story and genuinely couldn’t put this book down.

The side characters each made their own mark on the story and had a meaningful impact on both Elena and Maya, individually and together. I really enjoyed getting to know everyone and watching the relationships develop across the board—it added depth and richness to an already engaging narrative.

Thank you, Mira, for the opportunity to read your fantastic book. I’m so excited to see what you have in store next—if this story is anything to go by, sign me up for whatever you have coming down the pipeline.

I want to thank Mira that I had the honor to get an ARC of Burn Protocol and could read it before the publication. I chose to preorder it myself too because I want to support her as a small indie author.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Maya and Elena that is there right from the start, even if both try to deny and repress it. The slow burn and building up of the relationship is done in an easy way that it felt very natural to me. The witty banter between Maya and Elena is so enjoyable to me and makes the book the great read it is. Mira writes their emotions in a way that I could relate to the protagonists and could really feel their emotions in my heart, which made me cry, laugh, and have a lot of fun reading Burn Protocol.
The book contains spicy parts. I do not always enjoy spice in books, but here it felt right and very well written. I could feel their need and pleasure, and it is filled with the same wit and banter as the rest of the book.
There are some heavy topics in the book and as someone that has experienced trauma, it can be heavy to read parts of the book. The description of trauma and anxiety does match how I feel with them which made the book even more relatable to me. It shows that people with trauma can love and be loved and are not “broken”.
It shows how private relationships get complicated when they interfere with work and when ethics come into play. The book shows that authors can write characters that are working for a better world without being on the nose with the messaging.

I recommend the book to readers that like sapphic books with some spice, that show a healthy relationship with the problems that can come with it. The book will burn you but when you finish it you will crave for Moore.

Deutsch:

ARC Review

I came for the firefighter, I stayed for the fire… the other kind. 🔥

This book is a slow burn masterpiece—starting with careful observation, flirty banter, and protocols in place, only to watch sparks ignite into a full-blown, heart-thumping flame. The characters feel so alive: you see them navigating danger, both in the field and in their hearts, and you feel every hesitation, every stolen glance, every moment where desire threatens to break the rules.

But this isn’t just a romance—it’s about finding your place, learning to live instead of survive, and realizing the light you thought was enough was just shadows compared to what life could really be. The tension is delicious, the chemistry is combustible, and the emotional depth will leave you reflecting long after the last page.

If you love stories that are messy, passionate, and unapologetically human, this is one to devour. 🔥📖💋

I loved the characters, the settings (think I should def go to Barcelona now), and the spice is very nice. I loved how the author tackled issues of women in predominantly male jobs (and how they kick ass!), the complexity of finding love and having a career, and how a sapphic romance fits snuggly into the mix.

It's well researched, well written, and shows all the promises of a future series (here's hoping! 🤞 ). Highly recommended!

I’m so thankful to have received an ARC of Burn Protocol by Mira Moore, because I just found a new author to add to my shelves!

The story follows Elena, a decorated firefighter who keeps everyone at arm’s length, and Maya, a journalist assigned to profile her on her next big assignment. These two are complete opposites in a lot of ways. Elena is the classic ice queen — controlled, guarded, and used to handling everything on her own. Maya on the other hand is warm, bubbly, and basically impossible not to like. I loved watching Elena’s walls slowly start to melt as her feelings for Maya grew. And seeing them both grapple with the forbidden nature of their relationship added great tension to the story. As much as I loved them together, I also really appreciated that both women were strong, successful, and driven in their own right!

Emotionally, this book took me on quite the ride. I felt their happiness, the tension, the suspense, and even the heartbreak — and it all came together to create a really compelling story. Overall, I had such a great time with this one and will absolutely be reading more from Mira Moore!

This was an anticipated read, and it did not disappoint! Right from the beginning I could feel the connection between them, even behind the icy walls of Elena and the bubbly denial of Maya. The way the connection was nurtured through sweet bantering and watching each other through the tough times until they couldn’t deny what they were feeling...YES ma’am! This was a master class in slow burn writing.

To top this off with the electric scenes of Elena putting herself on the line repeatedly and selflessly. And Maya supporting in her own gentle strength taking her own risks while capturing what it takes to be a first responder...YES!! The love these two walked out of the fire with was palpable!! Honestly favorite couple of the year so far!

Hey Reader!

Did this get your attention? It sure got mine, and let me tell you...If you're a fan of the above...well...you may just fall in love with Elena, Maya & all of Burn Protocol. The writing captured me immediately, and I was hooked Fam! It's not often that I'll finish a book then want to dive right back into it, but Mira Moore's Debut delivered!

So why do I love it so much?

In short: it made me feel. So. Damn. Much. All the things! The Banter is bantering, the spice is Spicing, and it is all perfectly paced with a hella heart! My journey with Maya & Elena had me grinning ear to ear, giggling, laughing out loud at times, pining, swooning, biting my lip, my thumb, my fist...and other moments had me on edge, trying to catch my breath, and fighting back tears!

I fell hard for Maya & Elena. I mean, how could I not? Their chemistry is magnetic, and the banter es perfecto! So many lines and moments hit just right, & live rent free in my head... on repeat...

What I wasn't expecting, though, was how much I adore the support characters - the family. They add another layer to the emotional depth that just took things to the next level for me. Another unexpected, yet very pleasent surprise for me, was the amount of knowledge on the first responder scenes. It's obvious the author is passionate about the content of her work, and it made all the difference between it being good, and phenomenal. I'm going to show my nerd here, but I feel like I also learned a few things....Hey, Safety is Sexy, right?😉

I genuinely could sing endless praises to Mira Moore and her Debut, Burn Protocol, but I'll leave it at this:

I'm honored that I was given the opportunity to ARC Burn Protocol. I went in expecting to enjoy another slow burn Sapphic Romance with some spice. What I discovered were characters I both cheered and cried for, characters that feel real, that feel like family. I found intimacey that is intense in the best way: tender, playful, rough, and all consuming at exactly the right moments.

I came out of Burn Protocol extremely satisfied, but not wanting it to end. I also came out clearing a special space on my top shelf for the physical copy when it comes out on March 31st!

❤️‍🔥Pre-order Available Now❤️‍🔥

5 ⭐'s all around & absolutely Vennie APPROVED!

I'm thrilled to see what else Mira Moore has in store for us, and I desperately hope to see more of these characters in the future.🤞If her debut is any indicator, Fam, we won't want to miss any possible future releases!

Fam,I encourage you to always take a chance on an Indie Author. You never know, they might just become your next favorite!😉

Okay, so... I had the honour of reading an ARC of Burn Protocol, finished it in little more than a day (yep, it was that good), and immediately had that, “Well… now what am I supposed to read next?” moment I only get after reading truly captivating stories.

This story follows Maya, a journalist writing a feature on female first responders, and Elena Gonzales, a decorated firefighter who very clearly did not sign up to be anyone’s human interest story. What starts as a (reluctant) professional arrangement quickly turns into something much more complicated and compelling.

The dynamic between these two fantastic, layered, captivating women is a huge part of what makes this book great. They push each other, challenge each other, and slowly begin to see the person underneath the armour - and we get to follow along for the ride right alongside them.

BUT! What REALLY stood out to me and made this story absolutely shine is the way Mira has written the firefighting scenes in this novel. I mean... wow! This is one of those clear examples where the setting is so much more than just a backdrop to the story. The scenes feel researched, grounded and genuinely high-stakes, and you can tell there’s a real knowledge and respect for the profession behind the way they’re written. These moments show exactly what Elena carries with her every day and add true depth to Elena’s character and to the ever-evolving dynamic between her and Maya.

When the romance finally shifts from simmering tension into something more, it feels earned. Nothing about their relationship feels rushed or bland. It unfolds gradually through trust, frustration, attraction, and a growing respect between two women who are both incredibly good at what they do.

Also definitely worth mentioning: the banter in this book is freaking great, the side characters genuinely feel like people you enjoy getting to know rather than simple placeholders, and the pacing kept me flying through this book until I'd suddenly finished the whole thing in a day.

If you like sapphic romance that mixes high-stakes careers with a genuine emotional slow burn and two strong personalities who challenge each other in all the right ways, Burn Protocol is absolutely the book for you! It's so worth the read and I can't recommend it enough.

I ARC read this for Mira Moore and LISTEN.

Decorated Firefighter x Journalist. Ride-alongs. Reluctant lieutenant. Tension so thick you could cut it with a damn axe.

Maya Crater is this headstrong, insanely talented journalist doing a feature series on female first responders, and her final subject is Elena Gonzales—decorated firefighter, resident badass lieutenant, and a woman who absolutely does not want to be shadowed, spoken to, or looked at. Elena isn’t just good at her job—she carries it. The characters have this dry, wry humour that slips out at the best moments. The banter between them is sharp and clever and low-key adorable. Even when the tension is high, there’s this undercurrent of wit that makes their dynamic feel natural and lived-in. And from the moment they’re forced into close proximity? Oh the sparks are SPARKING.

First of all—the firefighting scenes??? Immaculate. Elite and stunning. The author's research JUMPED off the page. The accuracy, calls, the coordination, the chaos, the danger and tension all felt real. Not “romance novel fire scene,” but actual, grounded, high-stakes firefighting. I was stressed in the best way because it's not just about the action but the toll it takes.

And then the romance.

Slow burn tension. Lingering looks. Emotional walls. Mutual respect. Two extremely competent, intelligent women clocking each other in real time. They’re both smart, emotionally aware, and intuitive as hell. The way they see each other??? I was unwell.

Also can we talk about how they’re flawed but not frustrating? They feel human. Their hesitations make sense. Their growth feels earned. When the spice hits, it HITS—but it never sacrifices the emotional depth. It’s hot and meaningful. The best combo.

The side characters were interesting, fully formed and not cardboard cutouts for world building. The team, the Chief, the Editor, even the receptionist.

The pacing was tight and effortlessly engaging.

This was such an easy five-star romance read for me. Smart women. Fire. Tension. Emotional intelligence. And chemistry that could probably start its own five-alarm blaze.

Highly recommend. I will be thinking about these two for a while.

This an ARC Review for the fabulous Mira Moore and her amazing book Burn Protocol.
Mira is about to rock your entire book world and I'm here for it.
This book isn’t just a romance; it celebrates women and empowers them. It showcases their capabilities and potential. It’s a powerful story about two strong, beautiful, and wonderful women at the forefront. I adore everything about both of them.
Mira’s writing shines from the very first page. She has a genuine dedication to capturing the subtle intricacies of human nature—the small details we might overlook but Mira doesn’t. She crafts these characters so vividly that they become real people we know, care for, and love. Characters that we can fully visualize because she writes them so clearly. It’s an ode to real people and the transformative power of love.
This story revolves around firefighters, and it had a profound emotional impact on me. I shed tears multiple times while reading it. I’m still crying as I type this because these strong, beautiful, and resilient women punched me in the heart with their vulnerability.
I’ve fallen head over heels for the character Elena Gonzales. From the way she holds her body in front of her coworkers to the tension coiled within her to save others, I’m crushing hard on this woman. Her smirk at Maya is like Cupid’s arrow hitting me in the v*gina. That early, subtle dirty talk—I was completely lost. She stole my heart, and I even remember how she takes her coffee. I’m a good girl Elena!
I could go on and on about Burn Protocol, but this is something you need to experience for yourself. I don’t write reviews from a literary perspective; I write them from an emotional standpoint, and this book gave me everything. I felt a slow-burn frustration, love, strength, fear, and arousal. It’s simply beautiful. And it’s lady puddles hot, by the way. It really is.

300 pages in and I am absolutely- wrecked- in the best way! Burn Protocol doesn’t just tell a love story it ignites one! The romance is a slow burn, but tastefully paced, and in parts feels like you are holding your breath under water knowing on the next page air will come. But when that heat finally comes it’s not just steamy, it’s intimate, and makes it hit every inch inside of you. You truly feel the heart under the heat. It shows vulnerability and is truly intoxicating. The writer knows how to word things to get under your skin, pulling you in, the fears- the longing- the desperation… Fire… Desire… I keep telling myself one more chapter, and then it’s 3am, hours slipped away. This story makes my chest ache, palms sweaty, & places tingle that I will keep to myself, but with all this it is in the best way that only exquisite romance stories can achieve. If the first 300 pages are any indication how my experience is, this isn’t just a simple love story. It is an emotional journey within a wildfire fully consuming me. I literally am already grieving the moment that I will turn my last page of this book because I don’t want it to end. I love it, clearly Author Mira Moore you know what you are doing. Exceptionally talented, and you should be extremely proud of yourself. Congratulations you have an epic wonder on your hands that I can’t get enough of. UPDATE- Hours later I have since finished this masterpiece! I am now going into a state of depression because it is over. Author- please continue this story I need book 2!!! && fast!! Readers- Trust me you will not be disappointed. This is a story you won’t want to put down. 🔥🔥🔥

I was so incredibly lucky to get an ARC copy and I'm so glad I did. Omg it's addictive. You want to know what happens but it's also like holy hell. You don't want this to finish. But it's one of those books you want to keep reading every minute you have spare. 😆 It has the exact right flow and pace. it's an easy read, that you want to keep picking up to read with characters that are so well rounded. Highly recommend for a great, spicy romance with characters you are so rooting for. Cannot wait to read more from this author.

WHAT I LIKED:
I loved the ice queen x sunshine elements in the story. The banter between the two heroines and their opposing personalities were delightful.

I loved that there wasn’t a third act breakup caused by some misunderstanding.

I really like how Elena would be cold towards Maya, realize she had no reason to be so rude, and apologize afterwards.

I love the chemistry between the two leads.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
There wasn’t anything I disliked about this story.

SPICE:

“It feels as if my heart is bleeding.”
This book is not what you think it is. Don’t be fooled by the cover. This isn’t a fluffy rom-com. This is fast paced and action-packed with dramatic rescue scenes and more than a few heartbreaking moments. It’s also yearning, so much yearning, and two FMCs fighting their feelings in the name of professionalism. It’s for the readers who love internal dialogue and the ones that like to shout at their book, “now kiss already!” And it will make you seriously respect firefighters.

Something that'll leave you wanting Moore

Like black coffee and a caramel latte, these two women bring two wildly different pasts, personalities and dynamics.
Their story weaves drama, fear, intrugue and heat throughout the pages of this book, and it leaves you rooting for them, feeling frustrated for them, and then swooning for them.
The atmosphere worked so well with this couple, and the subtle reminder of stigma being attached to women in the workplace was brilliantly placed.
An impressive debut romance novel!

It was okay. The characters were likeable and they had a lot of chemistry. The 3ABU Maya did exactly what Elena did, and admitted it to herself, but still told her to leave. It felt like Maya was holding Elena to a higher standard than she held herself and that really didn't sit right. They spent so much time communicating internally rather than with each other, and there were times it felt would be a good time for them to talk about their feelings and worries, but they hooked up instead.

The pining in this was so good! Delicious as I ate it up.

The tension in this had me completely invested.

Waiting, then watching, and enjoying this relationship slowly unfold made the emotional payoff really satisfying.

If you enjoy a sapphic romance with lots of longing, this one is definitely worth checking out.

Two fists in the air, with a cheer!!

Few books cause me to raise my hands in the air as if my team scored a game winning goal, but this book did that and more. Sensitive and gentle at times, fiery and flinty at others, Mira Moore makes you feel every emotion from her characters, even the ones we aren't supposed to like or identify with. This book is a triumph!
