USA Today Bestselling Author Ella Jade has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a child, she often had a notebook and pen with her, and now as an adult, the laptop is never far. The plots and dialogue have always played out in her head, but she never knew what to do with them. That all changed when she discovered the eBook industry. She started penning novels at a rapid pace and now she can’t be stopped.
Ella resides in New Jersey with her husband, two boys and two feisty Chihuahuas named Roxie and Macy. She can often be found creating sexy, domineering men and the strong women who know how to challenge them in and out of the bedroom. She hopes you’ll get lost in her words.
I liked this story, it was entertaining to see what lengths Nic was going through just to reconnect with Sage and what her sister was doing to help. But I will say that I wasn't especially keen on Sage; I understand what it's like to have your heart broken, but holding on to that anger and hurt for years doesn't do anyone good, and before you know, you'll wake up and look back at your life and wonder why you spent all that time being miserable. Did she really believe that she would be able to have just sex with Nic without catching feelings? Not sure why she thought that if she was still mad after 7 years apart. That situation could only work if she truly had no feelings for him at all.
I will say that the sexy times with Sage and Nic are pretty damn hot! And once Sage came to her senses about her feelings, that made the story even more enjoyable. What I couldn't get with though is how come her sister didn't ever tell Sage what she overheard? It didn't make sense to me; she knew how much Sage was devastated at the time, but still, her sister never said anything for 7 years? And Sage's father, don't even get me started on him! Even when the truth comes out, he still acts like a jackass. But once Sage tells him what's what, his attitude changes quicker than a teenage girl's attitude (and that my friends happens faster than you can blink).

They met in high school; she was a sophmore and he a senior when they started dating. They did the long distance thing when he went to school, and eventually once graduated, she followed him to Florida. They made plans. She was going to keep following him. Their love was what was going to get them through. Then one day, out of nowhere, he told her she needed to stay back. She gave up Princeton for him. She gave up her top 5 colleges for him. She wanted to be with him. ...and he wanted her to stay. As a reader, you can understand, then, why Sage refused to take Nic's phone calls, listen to his reasoning, seek him out when she graduated -- as he'd hoped she would do. But equally, you want to know what happened that made this gung-ho, so in love with his girlfriend, want to show her off, early twenty-year old tell her he didn't want her to come with him. Now it's seven years later, he's made it in the baseball world, and she barges in to his locker room, knocking him for a loop, to interview the World Series Champion pitcher and his friend, Pax. He sees her and wants her -- not even 'again' because he's never truly stopped wanting her. She sees him and wants to stay far, far away. She's knows what he's capable if doing with her heart. Watching Nic fight for her was enlightening and sweet. It was almost as if they hadn't missed a beat. Does Sage try to keep herself emotionally detached? Absolutely -- it's the only way she figures she can protect herself from another broken heart, but sometimes you need to see things for what they are... While this was a quick read, it was a cute read. I wouldn't be opposed to following these Crushers in future books!
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads"
This is the second in the series, and whilst it could be read as a stand alone, why would you not read Pax's story first? It gives more flesh to the team and sets the book in context.
We met Nic when Pax was first romancing Sophia, and he was clearly a smouldering Greek romeo even with her. So when he sees Sage, his first and only true love, it is inevitable that passion will lead the way. Unravelling the disasters of the past and reestablishing a relationship though may be harder than he first hoped. The journey is one which will get you hot and bothered, and make it impossible to stop turning the pages. This is definitely a sports romance that I would recommend to you - and I hope Ms Jade is busy writing the next one for us all to enjoy.
I was given a copy by author for an honest review.
Sliding Into Second is book 2 in the Kingston Heat Series.
This is the story of Sage Millan and Nicolas Cordova.
Nicky is the hot second baseman to the Kingston Crushers. They have just won the World Series.
Sage is a sports reporter which is her dream job. Her first assignment is cover the Kingston Crusher. The only down fall her ex boyfriend is on the team.
Sage and Nicky go way back, they were teenage lovers and would do anything for one another. While Nicky was getting ready to start out on the majors he made the choice to leave the love of his life, at the time it seemed like a good idea but after 7 years he still can't stop thinking about her.
The story has twist and turns that will leave you on edge! This was a beautifully written love story that I just couldn't get enough of! I have to say Ms Ella did a phenomenal job!
Sliding Into Second was a super sexy, fun, fast, read. Once I started, I couldn't put the book down.
Sage and Nic have a second chance at love. Will Sage give in to Nic's hot persuit? Can she put aside their past to live and love again? Or will the secret Nic holds come between them forever? I understand why Sage would hold back from a meaning relationship, she was burned by Nic in the past. But, Nic is just so awesomely sexy and so into her...how can she resist! I wouldn't be able to! *sigh* I absolutely adored Sage's sister, Rosalie. She was hysterically funny and I happen to know she will be getting her own book in the future...Can't wait!
What else can I say, except.....Ella Jade hit it out of the ballpark with Sliding Into Second!!!
I'm not going to lie, I'm slightly in love with Ella Jade and now even more so!!
When she said that I was writing this one, I may have been a little impatient. Okay, fine, a lot. Pax was great and all but he was missing something. So when started teasing us with Nic, I was hooked.
Finally getting my hands on this one was a dream come true. Holy smokes Batman, Nic blew me away. He's charming, loveable, sweet and persistent in the face of adversity. He's given a second chance with his one true love and he's not taking no for an answer. Frankly, I can't image saying no to him. Yes, I totally swooned over him!
I love Sage's independence and witty comebacks. She's perfectly matched for Nic, even if she tries to fight it. Ella has a way with words that suck you into the story and Sliding Into Second is no exception. This story captivates from the beginning and leaves you with a smile at the end. Defiantly one that shouldn't be missed.
Nic And Sage were high school sweethearts. When he got a chance to play baseball he ask her father for his permission to marry her. He wanted her with him, her father refused and threatened to disown Sage if he took her with him. He left without her and broke her heart. 7 years pass and Sage is a top notch sports reporter and is assigned to do a story on the Kingston Heat, which is the team Nic plays for. They decide to have dinner and talk about the past. They find that the feelings they had for each other was still as strong as it was before. After a few bumps in the road they are back together and are able to find their HEA.
Nic and Sage were once inseparable with Sage sacrificing her plans to see him become a pro ballplayer. With marriage on their horizon though Nic's doubts were brought to the forefront and had him leaving Sage behind to fulfill her dreams while he fought to reach the top of the baseball heap. She made a concerted effort to forget him, occasionally in the arms of fellow reporter Jason, while getting her dream job as a sportscaster for the Kingston Crushers. While she fought to forget him, he never forgot her and now longs to pick up where they left off. Thankfully Nic gets help from Sage's sister Rosalie to reclaim the woman of his dreams in a sweet, sexy, and heartwarming journey to HEA full of truths and a breaking down of emotional walls.
Nic is a true gentleman who hasn't allowed fame and fortune to go to his head. He knew when he was in high school how much Sage meant to him and planned to be with her forever until outside forces intervened to compel her to walk away. He's waited for her though and is thrilled to see her come back into his life and decides to unleash a sensual assault to get her back. Nic is immensely charming and I enjoyed how focused he was on Sage. Their connection was just as crackling as before which led to steamy sexual interludes nicely spaced throughout the story. Nic's a delectable hero who had me rooting for him and he completely won me over from the very first page to the last.
Sage was willing to sacrifice everything to be with Nic until he broke her heart after sending her away for what he thought was her own good. It left her heart closed of with emotional walls that Nic'll have a hard time getting through as she doesn't want to get hurt again. Sage is dedicated to her career having become totally focused on it in an attempt to forget Nic. She never truly forgot but isn't willing to give her heart away to him so easily ever again which makes for a bumpy journey to HEA. When outside forces once again intervene the journey is made even more complicated as Sage's unwillingness to accept Nic's attempts to make things right left me frustrated. Despite her hardheadedness Sage was a likable woman, easy to relate to. She's no shrinking violet and she's more than capable of standing up for herself and I enjoyed seeing her softer side return after the coldness her heart became enshrouded in.
This was a fun and flirty romance of reunited lovers. Through flashbacks the deep-seated connection between Nic and Sage was very clear and left me rooting for them to get back together and be as happy as they once were. Nic is a deliciously charming hero who's hard to resist while Sage started off hard-hearted to slowly morph into the open-hearted and trusting person she once was. There's a memorable cast of secondary characters too, some who help Nic in his quest to reclaim Sage and some seeking to keep them apart. Rosalie in particular left her mark with her smarts and outspoken nature and I hope to see more of her larger than life personality. This was an entertaining addition to the Kingston Heat series that can be read on its own, but with such delightful storyline from Ms. Jade, why wouldn't you want to read all this series has to offer!
*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Sage knew she still had feelings for her childhood sweetheart, but she somehow convinced herself that it didn't matter and that it wouldn't affect her job. Yeah right! Nic is not only crazy sexy, but also super sweet, and he wants a second chance with the only girl he's ever wanted beside him. There's only so many times a girl can say no to that perfect combo.
Since high school Nic has only wanted Sage beside him, but when he left college to go play in the minors he had a big decision to make and it was one that was pretty much forced upon him. He wanted it all, the girl and the career, but had to settle hopefully allowing the girl he loved to have it all and in turn he'd have only his career.
Nic is dominant and never relenting in his attempts to win Sage back. Sage has steel walls erected around her heart, but not even they are enough to keep Nic out, and that'll scare her and make her do crazy things. Denial! Denial! Denial!
"Jealous?"
"Possessive," he growled. "I'm not ashamed to admit it."
The things Nic says to Sage and the little nicknames he calls her by is what made me love this story so much. They were the icing on the already beautiful cake. The reasoning is, I have someone who says those same things and to see a character resemble someone so close to me made me love it all that much more.
"The way you say my name. The look in your eyes when you're about to come. I've forgotten nothing, my goddess of love."
Sliding Into Second is a beautiful story about second chances and never giving up on love. I cannot wait to see what else the Kingston Heat series has in store and I look forward to reading book 3, Rosalie's Player. I mean Nic did sort of promise her one and it should be quite interesting to see how he pays that debt.
My Favorite Moments: I really enjoyed all the little fits of jealousy Nic had when it came to Jason.
"All he could think about was Sage in her sexy purple underwear. But when he pictured her, she wasn't with him. She was in Jason's arms, smiling as he stroked her cheek and kisser her knuckles. Bastard!"
I am a huge fan of Ella Jade and I am thrilled to be reviewing Sliding into Second, well let’s be honest peeps! I have been dying for this book since Pax’s story! So we start off with Sage Millan; super-efficient sports reporter, who has ice walls protecting her heart as high as Niagara Falls! Why is she protecting herself so much, well it’s because of her college boyfriend/love of her life Nicolas Cordova. Now she has to face him, in the locker room of all places! Nic sees the one person he has longed for since college, the one person he was made to give up walk into his locker room after winning the World Series! When sage walked into the locker room, he was taken aback, but he wasn’t going to let her go easily. So Nic enlists Sage’s sister to aid him in defeating every road block she throws at him. I am going to stop there as I really don’t want to give away the story. The characters in this story are really complex. I love Nic, he has to be my favorite character. Sage is sweet and I feel sorry for her, but after a while she just got on my nerves and I just wanted to scream “will you just tell him you love him already!” Rosalie is phenomenal! She is the sister I wish I had! By the end of the book I was literally yelling “GO ROSALIE!!!!!!” There is a villain of this piece, but I am going to withhold the name, because that would really spoil the story, but UGH!! I wanted to smack him SO hard. The writing was smooth, the story was complete and you defiantly can read it as a standalone. I also didn’t find any plot holes either. But this book did have the dreaded flashbacks (my own personal peeve). This story was truly delicious and I really did enjoy the story. So I have decided to give Sliding Into Second 9 out of 10.
Sliding Into Second is about second chances. This is book 2 of the series but can be read as a stand alone. We only had a few minor scenes where Pax shows up. :( I hope in book 3 we have a bit more of Pax showing up along with Sage and Nic. I want to see how all of these characters are doing.
Like book 1, this book was well written. Book 1 is still my favorite, but book 2 was a really close second. I think because I wanted Sage to be a little more forgiving and not so stubborn. But then, it did make for interesting reading. Loved Nic's determination to win Sage back. He was so well written and easy to fall in love with.
Loved the characters, they were so well written. The dialogue flowed nicely and was easy to become engrossed in and the descriptions to detail were written so it was easy to visualize what was going on.
With this book, we have heart ache and heart break, deception and redemption ,forgiveness and love. Best of all we have a sorta HEA. I don't call it a full on HEA unless he puts a ring on it LOL. I assume we we see that though in book 3 since it will focus on Sage's sister Rosalie so I'm hoping we will see more of her and Nic. Oh, there were some sexy bits as well.....were they panty melting? No, but they were nicely done.. No heart twinge moments, no tears but that's okay. I still loved this book.
An easy read to pass away a cold, wintry afternoon. A second chance love story with high sweetness and hotness factor.
Sage and Nic were together as Nic set out on his baseball career. Sage was his biggest supporter and promised to follow him everywhere. Their relationship was perfect until he told her that he didn't want her to follow him any more.
Fast forward and Nic is now a World Series winner and Sage a successful sports reporter send to cover his team. The pull between them is still there but Sage is scared to take a chance, even though deep down he is all she wants. Nic sets out to do everything he can to win her back. Can they both overlook the past and start looking to a future together?
Sage, at times, frustrated me with her constant change of attitudes and moods. I got that she was scared after what happened in the past but grrr!!. Nic is a good guy who always has and always will want what is in Sage's best interests. He has great perseverance and patience which will need in bucket loads to win Sage back.
A great read that was light and easy to read. I enjoyed this second chance romance book.
Sliding into Second is the continuation of the Kingston Heat Series by Ella Jade. Lost Love is it ever lost or can it be found again? In this book, we meet Nic (baseball player for the Kingston Crushers) and Sage (sports reporter) who had a serious relationship back in college 7 yrs earlier until Nic broke it off suddenly without warning. Sage is still hurting and hasn't let love it since that fated day. Nic wants to rekindle the relationship as he been always in love with Sage.
The sparks fly when they are near each other and a sexually relationship begins as Sage can't let her guard down to let love back in. Sage's sister (Rosalie) meddles in to help save the relationship that is going sour as a secret from the past is revealed. Can Sage face her commitment fears and let Nic love her or does she strike out?
Ella Jade writes a wonderful sexy romance and I highly would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18 yrs.
I received this book from the author for an honest review 5 koala paws
I was given a copy of this book to write an honest review for Cocktails and Books.
SLIDING INTO HOME is a delightful, sexy novella about a second chance at love. The Kingston Crushers have just won the World Series and Sage Millan, a sports reporter is scheduled to interview the pitcher. The only problem is Nic Cordova, the second baseman for the team was her longtime boyfriend and she’s nervous about seeing him again.
I found it easy to like and admire Sage. She’s smart and hard working and I can understand her hurt and hesitation to trust Nic. He was once her whole world and he broke her heart. Nic is a nice guy who thought he was making the right decision at the time. When he sees Sage again, he realizes how much he misses her and he wants her back. I love how Nic never gives up trying to win Sage. Nic is a perfect combination of sexy, thoughtful and caring. This is the second book in the Kingston Heat series and is a stand-alone. I loved the story and the characters and was disappointed when the story ended.
I zoomed through this one! It was super sexy and sweet. A second chance romance that I definitely rooted for!
I really liked both Sage and Nick. They both could be completely stubborn at times and I wish they would have just communicated more then things could have been resolved a lot sooner. But then that probably wouldn't have made for much of a story.
I loved how Nick wouldn't give up on Sage. He wouldn't let her just walk away and have them be a thing of the past. I could also see why Sage didn't want to chance her heart being broken again but I think she really needed to try and let go of what happened and move on. See how they have both grown. But I understood both sides of the story and why each other them did what they did. I really felt for them both. They had amazing chemistry even after being apart for seven years. The sex was HOT!
This one stood alone fine, I definitely plan on going back and reading the first book in the series. I really enjoyed the authors writing style.
Nic is a second baseman for a fictional team that has just won the World Series when the story begins.
Sage is a sports reporter that has been granted a short interview with the pitcher of the hour, Pax (which happens to star in the first book of the series - I have not read it yet, but plan to).
There is quite a past between Nic and Sage. You can tell they belong together, but the story twists and turns and has a lot of stubbornness on Sage's part (but she has valid reasons for it).
There were so many times I wanted to shake Sage and yell 'get over it', but it made the story so much more life-like. I could definitely see meeting a person like her in real life.
I very much enjoyed this story, and I want to read the first book, and following books. I hope there is a story involving Sage's sister next!

Sliding Into Second is book two in the Kingston Heat Series and can definitely be read as a standalone. I thought I loved Pax from the first book, but Nic outshines him. Gosh Nic was just completely amazing. He's sweet, charming, and undeniably sexy. I'm still surprised Sage resisted him for so long...I would have jumped him back in the locker room (screw the interview).
Nic and Sage have major history together and this is their second chance to make it right. Old wounds are opened up, the truth comes out, but what doesn't change is how much they both love each other. The chemistry still sparks for these two and it's hotter than ever. Don't take my word for it though, grab a copy and dive straight in. The sex scenes will really steam up your e-reader.
I really enjoyed Rosalie in this story and can't wait for her book. Ella Jade is definitely an author who needs to be on auto-buy! I am never disappointed with her work and I look forward to all her future books.

I didn't read the first book in the Kingston Heat series, and it didn't have any effect on the reading of Sliding into Second. Definitely works as a stand alone story.
This was a great story of lost love popping back up in your life. Sage and Nick had an amazing high school and college romance. They were truly in love and devoted to each other. As you find out the real reasons behind why they went their separate ways and didn't fight for each other my heart really ached for them both. I don't know how you would ever find your way back after 8 years of hurt.
This story really focuses on the importance of trust in a relationship. How do you trust that someone who broke your heart once isn't going to do it again? If someone leaves you once... how do you ever live without wondering if they'll leave you again? I really loved being in Sage and Nick's heads as they worked through all of the things they were feeling as they both decided where their relationship would go.
A heart beating romance Can true love be saved? This is the question for Saga and Nicholas will have to answer. Nick is a second baseman for a team that this just won the World Series and Sage is the woman that he left high and dry so many years ago. She was now sports reporter and will be following his team throughout spring training, will all the hidden secrets be discovered in time to save this true love, or will this end in another broken heart? My heart was beating every time I read a line in this book, it will make you believe in love again. I would love to see where or how their future turn out in series to come!!! One amazing love inside of a fess pages. Pickup a copy to feel the love.... I was given this book in exchange for my honest review.
Ella Jade knocks another straight out of the ball park. This second book in the Kingston Heat Series is fabulous. Her characters drew me in from page one. I have to warn you though. Once you pick this one up, you won't be able to put it down. Nic has totally stolen my heart.
The story hits all my requirements. It was hot. Smoking Hot. The hero is truly lovable too. Swoon! He loves his heroine. You can feel it. You can feel her love for him too, but she's been hurt. Then there's that moment when you think they might not be able to make it. Page turner alert! This book kept me up with all its deliciousness. I can't wait for the third book in this series.
I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest and fair review. I honestly adore Ella Jade's writing.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a second chance at love. I thought it was well written and the storyline was solid. I received a copy for the blog tour, I haven’t read the first book, but I believe this book was a standalone. I followed it well. Sage is a sports reporter and Nic is a baseball player. They dated years ago, but he went pro and they separated. Now that Nic’s team won the championship game they are brought back together. Sage is there to interview the pitcher. Then she runs into Nic. I thought the chemistry between the two was amazing. Will they end up getting that HEA? I highly recommend this book. I think the author is very talented and I will be reading more from her. Great Job!! Overall I give this book 5 Stars!
Ms. Ella nailed it!! Sliding Into Second is an amazing read! I was hooked with the story. The characters are amazing. Nic and Sage made me fall in love all over again. Nic, a hot baseball player and Sage's ex-boyfriend. With all the things that happened to them, the chemistry of the two is still there. Sage, a sports reporter and an amazing woman. As the two met again, things get more interesting. Nic is doing all the things to have a second chance with Sage. But with the reason of why Nic left her behind to be revealed, will the things still be the same? The way the story ended is great. I love how I was easily get attached to the characters and the story.. Can't wait to read more of this series!
*I received this book free inexchange for an honest review* I love stories about reconnecting and lost loves. I'm a sucker for it. So here we find Sage and Nic who had a heart breaking ending to their relationship. 7 years later, they end up in the same place. Hot sexy baseball players, a meddling family, fun sister and reconnecting. This is a very sexy romantic story. "You don't play fair." "I play to win." Nic is a romantic athlete who would get any woman's juices flowing! This is a great read, and a wonderful continuation to the Kingston Heat series.
They thought they would be together forever until his career took him away from her and Sage wasn't willing to wait around. Hurt from what she thought was his rejection of her Sage changed schools and went away to college to make a career for herself as a sports reporter.
After several years Nic's team has won the championship, when Sage walks into the locker-room to interview one of his teammates Nic is stunned, but he is determined to win her back.
I really enjoyed this one, it isn't a long story so it was a quick read and it has a very sweet feel to it.
Will Sage get a second chance at love with the second baseman? Sage is now a sports reporter interviewing with Nic's baseball team who just won championship. They were teenage lovers but he left her in college to go for the majors in baseball. Sage never got over it but now Nic wants another chance with the woman he never forgot. Will Sage forgive him? 5 Stars for hotness, hot baseball players and hot sex!
This is a great story about love, second chances. An awesome read with a solid story line. Nic left Sage behind to become a professional baseball player. Years later Nic and Sage run into each other and the sparks fly!!!!!!! Nic wants a second chance, will Sage give him one once she finds the real reason he left her behind. I know the answer, but you are going to have to read this great book to find out. Ella has done it again and wrote another amazing book.
I was given this book for a honest review. Sage is sports reporter when she runs into nic her first love that broke her heart he wants to be with her again but she is conflicted. Will Sage and Nic be together or will a mistake from the past ruin any chances for them. I got sucked into this book. It is a great story about love and heartbreak. I would recommend this book to everyone I know. Look forward to reading more from this author.
