Lucifer’s Choice begins with a bang (pun intended) and never lets up. The pace is riveting, the characters are complex, intriguing, and you root for them from the first word. I couldn’t put this one down much to the annoyance of my hubby.
Lucifer, aka Sax Anders, is a brooding, Norwegian Viking throwback. Flaxen haired, of gigantic stature, and ripped to the max, he’s every woman’s alpha hero. Sax has a self-depreciating wit, he’s fiercely protective of all the females in his life, is both old-fashioned and thoroughly liberal at the same time, and has a brooding edge that’s sexy and eclectic.

Nalini’s trying to find a balance between her traditional Hindu upbringing and being an Indian woman in the twenty-first century. I rooted for Nalini from the very start. She’s smart, determined, and not afraid to abandon the safe, wealthy world she’s used to in order to become independent and make her own choices. I love the way the book plays on choices and was thoroughly amused by Nalini’s insistence she chose Lucifer and not the other way around.

The first chapter sets the tone for the book and the sexual chemistry between Lucifer and Nalini is pure dynamite. The sex is borderline BDSM and hot enough to melt glaciers. There’s one scene in the kitchen that’s going on my favorite list, it’s scorching.

The secondary characters add a wealth of richness to the plot and I can’t wait to get to know Lucifer’s friend Devil better. This is the second Hades Squad book and I wasn’t sure Ms. Carlo could top the first one, A Paratrooper in a Pear Tree. She did, but the two books are so different, that though I’ve given both five stars, they really can’t be compared. Lucifer is dark and brooding where Paratrooper was light and witty.

I can’t wait to see what Ms. Carlo has in store for us next.

What a superb read! Once I read the blurb I was hooked. And then I delved into the story and got lost in it. The detail was great, and I fell for Nalini right off the bat. I thought her plan to seduce Sax was great strategy. I did fear for her wellbeing once he found out though. Sax surprised me. I love heroes who have a great sense of responsibility and honourable intentions. I adored that he wasn’t going to just let her slip away.
Sometimes a girl just doesn’t know what’s really good for her, although she believes she knows best. Family can be very intrusive and unbending. I applauded that Nalini found her courage to voice her needs instead of running, and was appreciative to see that she did regret her solution to her problems, it showed tremendous growth.

Culture is a tricky thing, one’s laws and ways aren’t necessarily another’s. I definitely got a feel for traditional ways in this story and it helped cement it all in for me and I wanted to hug Nalini’s mother toward the end. It was great to see her communicate better with her daughter and to see how deep their relationship was.

I also found the team to be a well-oiled machine of males…that I can’t wait to visit. This is one read I’d recommend to others and I’ll be reading it again soon. I can’t wait to see the rest of this fantastic Hades Squad!

oh, so yummy! I wanted to eat Sax up. I thought that the age difference between Sax and Nalini made it difficult for me to see them truly in a relationship together, but I got more use to it by the end. She was so young, I thought that she needed a bit more life experience, but I think she saw that wasn't all that it was cracked up to be in the end.

I'm really liking the Jianne Carlo books. I know she's got a book 4 in the Hades Squad coming out, but I think she's going to need more books. I don't want this series to end!!

This is a hard book for me to review. On one hand, it was fast paced and I hated having to put the book down. Sax is AWESOME! Seriously, where can I find him?! His reaction after he realizes he has been used for sex is priceless. On the other hand, I have mixed feeling about Nalini and felt the book, at times, was over edited leaving scenes and conversations choppy and hard to follow. Nalini could have been a wonderfully strong woman and sometimes she was. Other times she acted more like a child and it was hard to believe she had spent the past two years traveling the world on her own. Both Sax and Nalini had moments where they would get mad over the dumbest things. There was no consistency with the characters. I honestly would have enjoyed the book way more if more time had been given to the characters actually getting to know each other and seeing their relationship evolve. Every time they had a problem it was resolved with sex. I have no problem with sex, don't get me wrong, it's one of the reasons I liked this book so much! However there are times when you just want to say "REALLY?!" Here's one scene spoiler:

******Scene Spoiler*******

One of the scenes that bugged me the most was the one where Sax ties Nalini up while she is sleeping so he can shave her. Seeing as how she has a terrible fear of being trapped and has panic attacks after being held hostage by pirates and Sax has made a huge deal about how he is not going to trap her and the balls in her court, why would you do this?! And for the love of pete, why does this not make Nalini freak out?!!!!! I mean, come on!! The mere mention of the plan for a fake engagement that both families will be in on to get her ex to stop trying to force their arranged marriage sends her into one of her worst panic attacks, however waking up bound and naked with a man between your legs and a razor telling you he is going to shave you whether you want it or not because he prefers it doesn't bother you?

So I read this book as a reviewer and I'm of two minds. I figured I'd do my own personally rambling first to get my thoughts in order. I can't say that this book was bad. The author did spend a good time building the story. I just felt the story wasn't completely finished, as if there were loose ends that weren't tied off.

I do like stories with spies/military men. The hero, Sax, was a handsomely described blond viking. Nalini as the petite Indian created a nice contrast. There was sex in the book, but to be honest, I skipped over most of it and it didn't really turn me on. While I could admire Sax and want him for my own. Nalini on the other hand was not as appealing. Other than her physical attributes, I found her to be a spoiled coward. Any little sign of things not going her way, she'd run. These games remind me of an immature brat raised in a privileged life. Surprise (or not) she was privileged as a diplomat's daughter.

I wish there was a way to give 1/2 stars. This really isn't just a 2 star, but it definitely isn't a 3 star. I think this is a 2.5 star.

Another one bites the dust!

I enjoyed Sax's story. I wasn't sure he was going to get what he wanted because it was quite the struggle. But then, an alpha male wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than an alpha female, even if she doesn't realize she is one.
I found myself wanting to choke Nalini and Sax who, of course, resisted the call of love. It seemed the struggle went on and on, not to mention the fear that Anand, her ex, wouldn't give up without at least attempting to kidnap her (it didn't happen but the vague threat seemed to hang out there). All in all, I really enjoyed the book and can't wait to see who's next.

Loved it.

Nalini seduces Lucifer (Sax Anders) he doesn't remember her. He was her brother's friend she needed to lose her virginity and she has chosen Lucifer. After their night together he wants to spend more time with her but she informs him that she is engaged. He notices after she turns him down that the condom broke. He decides to find out who she is. Her family from which she ran away from has hired the Hades Squad to find her. Lucifer does not realize until they come face to face that his one night stand is the same person. Loved it can't wait for the other books.

A Story About The Magic Between Lovers

Lucifer meets and succumbs to a sweetheart. She is a younger woman and a family friend that he had lost track of. The teenager has grown up, and matured beautifully. She tracked him down and the dance of seduction has begun! A delightful read, wanting more!

I truly enjoyed Lucifer and Nalini's story. I can't wait for Sinner, Satan and Demon's stories. I love the Alpha males and the multi cultural spin in Ms. Carlo's books. I like the glimpses of the life styles in other cultures.

I give Lucifer's Choice Five Divas! I don't normally enjoy contemporary books but I absolutely loved this story! Sax is the perfect dream man! Sensitive, successful, and sexy as hell! I want my own Norse Hunk! I really enjoyed learning more about the different aspects of Indian life and can't imagine being an independent women in a traditional Indian home. Nalini is the perfect example of what every mother wants for their daughters to learn to be independent, think for themselves and find the man of their dreams! I highly recommend reading this book and hope the author continues this as a series! I would be first in line to read additional books! The only thing that would have made this book even better would have been to have Sax beat the crap out of Nalini's ex! Lol

Ms. Carlo designed a worthy alpha male, Sax Anders, to be the hero in this story. What I found missing, was an equally worthy female to complement him. Nalini is not a bad female, she just came across as someone I wouldn't be able to rely upon. Her first reaction, and generally her modus operandi is to runaway and disappear. She is unable to accept the consequences of her actions. I find this unappealing in a person, not just in a female. One could argue it is because of her India heritage that prevents her from being able to communicate assertively. Her upbringing which included expensive boarding school is what allows her to become passive aggressive could be a plausible reason.

What comes across to the reader, is she a bit spoiled, impulsive and high maintenance. None of these traits are ones I want to relate to when I'm reading a story. Instead of empathizing with Nalini's plight, I'm left with a pity party for the poor little rich girl. Ms. Carlos did accurately portray a woman struggling with a life planned out due to her gender. She also did provide some redeeming qualities in Nalini. Nalini can survive on her own for almost two years, and learning a good trade while on the run. When all of Nalini's deceptions are revealed and she faces the consequences, she falls back to the men in her life to fix everything.

At one point, she even runs back to "Daddy" for help. I believe this is what bothered me most about this book. While this book ends with a happily ever after, there were still questions left unanswered. Perhaps those were hints to a follow up book. I recommend this book for those looking for a white knight, riding on a white stallion to come to save the day. Please note, Ms.Carlos writing voice is fine. Her story flowed; it's just the main character's flaws were too distracting with not enough redeeming qualities to balance.

Not realizing her actions would cause her parents a lot of heartache, Nalini Marajh, flees her home and her arranged marriage. Changing her name, Nalini boards a tanker and takes off. When pirates overtake the ship, The Hades Squad is called in to rescue the crew. They rescue everyone except a missing female engineer.

Wanting to be in charge of her own life, Nalini sees only one way out of getting married--she's got to lose her virginity, and what better way to do that than get the man she's had a crush on since she was a young girl, Sax Anders to take her to bed.

The Marajh's, who are close family friends of the Anders', have hired the Hades Squad to help find their runaway daughter. Sax Anders, known as Lucifer to his squad members, is in Santa Fe for a few day and takes a beautiful woman up to his room. After their encounter, Sax wants to see her again, but she tells him she's engaged and waltzes out of the room leaving Sax furious that he was used.

Will the Squad be able to find Nalini? Can Nalini keep her new found freedom and remain in charge of her own life?

I totally enjoyed Lucifer's Choice, which took right up where A Paratrooper In A Pear Tree ended. Jianne Carlo has created another fantastic book that has a delicious plot with unexpected twists and revelations. I know I was smiling as I read more and more of the story and how Ms. Carlo tied it all together.Sax is all hunky man, who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it. A bit of an alpha, he also has a soft spot family and friends. Sax is honest, hard working, determined, and reliable. I really liked Sax, he puts others' happiness ahead of his own. I so wanted him to find Nalini and help her with her predicament of her marriage. Nalini Marajh loves her parents but doesn't want an old fashioned life. She wants to be the one in charge and she also wants to work. I admire Nalini for wanting something better for herself and then trying to grab it. There were times though, that I wanted to shake her and try and make her see reason.

All the characters were well written and had great compatibility with each other. There was great sexual tension between Sax and Nalini and their sex scenes were extremely hot. The world building was fantastic and the story moved at a good pace. I wish there had been a little more villainy from the husband to be. I felt there wasn't enough hardship thrown in Sax and Nalini's way. Lucifer's Choice was a very enjoyable read and I can't wait to read the next book.

“Wham, bam, thank you, sir” is what Sax Anders (aka Lucifer) thinks after learning that the woman he picked up at a bar and had sex with is engaged and just needed him to take her virginity. However, the trouble doesn’t stop there. After she walks out, he learns that the condom broke. Although he has no idea who the mystery woman is, he is determined to find her again.

When Nalini, who has a stubborn streak a mule could learn from, set up Sax --a big blonde alpha male who she had a crush on when she was a teenager--by giving him her innocence she hopes to get out of her engagement to a man she does not love. However, she does not realize their paths are destine to cross again so soon after their one night together. This story will take you on a wild ride, and leave you laughing and sighing long into the night.

Ms. Carlo created a tale where different customs and beliefs come together to make a delicious love story that will rival any romance movie on the big screen. A brilliant writer, she wastes no time in pulling the reader into the story and not letting go until the end. The sizzle between Nalini and Sax comes off the pages, so grab a fan or turn up the air because you are going to need it to cool yourself.

There were a number of things that stood out within the story line such as the Shakespearean clichés, the Hindu upbringing and beliefs, and the Traditional Bharatanatyam Hindu dance, which I wanted to see a example of so spent some time looking up information on it after I finished reading the story. I found that with the “religion, culture and the vast divide in life experience” between the two main characters that the plot was new and refreshing.

You'll find yourself smiling when you see this alpha male get so hot he wants to beg. This is a scorching love story that will make you sigh and leaves you with a steaming impression of happy ever after. A must read and a great addition to your library, Lucifer's Choice is a well-written narrative full of action, laughter, and romance that will leave you smiling and dreamy eyed at the end.

In Book 2 of The Hades Squad we get to meet Lucifer, or Sax. He is a member of this elite team of former special ops military strong alpha men. The story starts off with an amazing one night stand that Sax is floored by. Up to this point, sex had just become a function that was a way to relieve stress. He wasn't into one night stands and preferred his sex buddy back home or masturbation. Until Sante Fe and this hot women who mad a bee line for him.
Its not until after their escapade that he realizes once will not be enough with this women. But she rebuffs him, and informs him she's engaged! Sax is furious, as this amazing women walks out. It's such an amazing role reversal right at the beginning of a story that sucks you right in.
We soon find our that the one night stand is Nalini, she actually knows Lucifer and sought him out. She is Indian and in an arranged marriage that she ran away from two years ago. She thinks having sex, losing her virginity will make the marriage contract null and void. Plus she has always had a thing for Sax since they knew each other back in Norway. When Lucifer realizes who she really is, he is pissed to say the least.
The emotions are real and very interesting. You have a women who doesn't want to be tied down to anyone, and the though of not being free, being her own person terrifies her. She ran away from everything and made it on her own so doesn't want to give u her freedom. However the man she was contracted to marry is not going to give her up without a fight.
This is another great story, with amazing character development that sucks you in, with interesting emotions as well as the dilemma of the marriage she is attempting to break off. This story gives us great emotions, with such hot sex scenes. I also enjoyed seeing some of the characters from the first book, as well as other members of Hades Squad.

The intrigue and suspense mixed with an erotic love story provides a thoroughly entertaining experience. I highly recommend Jianne Carlo and Lucifer’s Choice.

Fantastic!

A unique hot as Hades Alpha Male to the max, over the top lust filled second chance at romance. As fantastic as this book is, it would to best to read in order. As a stand-alone, it’s great, but some things just don’t make sense. The previous books fills in the slight gap and completes this story, not that anything is lacking. I love this series, and truly enjoy this authors writing style. Loved it!!
