Second chance romance

This is a story about 2 people fighting their way back to each other. The Mafia king's wife left him after 35 years of marriage.
One of his rivals tried to get back at him by trying to steal his wife.
I would have liked the book to be a little longer the book was rushed a bit but I still enjoyed the story.

Robert “Bobby” Kingston doesn’t know where he went wrong. After thirty-five years of marriage, he believed his wife was happy, until the day she packed her bags and moved out. Lost without her, Bobby is desperate to win Ellie back, but first he has to understand why she left in the first place. Ellie never stopped loving Bobby. What she stopped feeling was seen. Over the years, she had gone from being his partner to feeling like part of the furniture—always there, always dependable, but increasingly taken for granted. Living on her own brings a newfound sense of freedom and independence, yet the distance also makes her realize just how much she misses Bobby and the family they built together. When Bobby pleads with her to come home, Ellie is honest: things have to change if they’re going to have a future. Unfortunately, Bobby’s position as a powerful mafia boss means family troubles rarely stay private. As tensions rise, a dangerous rival begins to take an unsettling interest in Ellie, threatening not only their reconciliation but also her safety. What I loved most about this book was the mature and heartfelt portrayal of a marriage in crisis. Despite the obstacles between them, there is never any doubt that Ellie and Bobby deeply love one another. Their affection shines through every interaction, making it impossible not to root for them. There’s no bitterness or unnecessary drama, just two people trying to find their way back to each other after drifting apart. I especially appreciated how seriously Bobby took Ellie’s concerns. Rather than making empty promises, he immediately began taking steps to change. In fact, he had already started passing responsibility to his son, Bennett, something Ellie had long hoped for so they could spend more time together. Watching Bobby acknowledge his mistakes and actively work to become a better husband was both satisfying and refreshing. The strong sense of family woven throughout the story adds another layer of warmth. Even while living apart, Ellie remains closely connected to her sons and their partners, reinforcing the idea that family stands together through every challenge. When a frightening incident ultimately brings Ellie home, it’s clear that real progress has already been made. Bobby understands now that shutting Ellie out was one of his greatest mistakes, and he’s determined never to repeat it. From this point forward, she is his partner in every sense of the word. I have to admit, this book surprised me. I never expected Hope to tackle a marriage-in-crisis romance, but she handled it beautifully. Ellie is strong, self-aware, and unafraid to ask for what she needs, while Bobby is mature enough to accept responsibility for his shortcomings and committed enough to make meaningful changes. Their relationship balances vulnerability, passion, and years of shared history, offering a refreshing reminder that love isn’t just about falling for someone—it’s about choosing them again and again. A heartfelt, emotionally satisfying romance and a wonderful story about second chances within a lasting marriage.

She left the king, but she never stopped loving the man.

After thirty-five years of marriage, Ellie walks away from Bobby Kingston, not because the love is gone, but because she can’t keep disappearing inside his world. He’s the feared mafia king to everyone else, but to her, he’s the husband who stopped listening and made her feel more like a symbol than a partner.

Bobby doesn’t know how to lose her. He’s ruthless with enemies and used to getting his way, but Ellie’s absence breaks something in him that power can’t fix. When she asks for change instead of promises, he has to decide whether he wants a wife beside him or a woman made quiet by his protection.

Then the danger outside their marriage starts closing in. A rival family presses closer, threats land too near Ellie, and Bobby’s first instinct is to lock down and destroy anything that gets near her. But this time, protecting her means letting her stand with him, hear the truth, and become the partner he should’ve never shut out.

As Ellie returns to the life she thought she needed to escape, she starts to understand that the empire wasn’t the thing that broke her. Being alone inside it did. And Bobby, possessive and remorseful, starts proving that devotion can be fierce without making her smaller.

Ellie learns to name what she needs and return to love without surrendering herself. Bobby shifts from control and silence into vulnerability, honesty, and partnership. Their relationship rebuilds through desire, protection, trust, and the hard choice to stand side by side.

A dark, high heat, second chance, married mafia romance filled with possessive devotion, emotional repair, danger, and the ache of a love that almost lost itself. It’s about a woman who walks away to remember who she is, a ruthless husband who has to learn how to love without silencing her, and a marriage that comes back stronger when both choose each other again.

The Elevator Pitch: After decades of marriage, a woman walks away from the mafia king who still owns her heart, forcing them both to confront the silence that grew between love and loyalty. As enemies circle and old power starts to crack, he has to prove that protection means standing with her, not over her. Their bond becomes a battle for trust, desire, and the kind of second chance that can only survive if both of them choose it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars! 👑🔥❤️ Crowned by the Broken Mafia King completely surprised me in the best way.

This story isn’t just about mafia power or danger—it’s about a long marriage that’s been tested by time, silence, and emotional distance. Ellie walking away after 35 years felt heartbreaking 💔, not because love was gone, but because she stopped feeling seen. That added a really powerful emotional layer you don’t always get in mafia romance.

And Bobby? 👑💀 A ruthless mafia king on the outside, but underneath all that power and fear he inspires, he’s still just her husband. The contrast between the violent “king” and the man who still deeply loves his wife made his character really compelling.

I loved the tension between them after the separation—no instant fixes, just raw emotion, regret, longing, and the messy reality of trying to rebuild something that has decades of history behind it. ❤️‍🩹

The mafia danger element also raises the stakes without taking away from the emotional core. It actually reinforces why they still belong together—they’re stronger as a unit, even after everything fractured.

What stood out most:
👑 Second chance marriage romance
💔 Emotional separation after decades together
🔥 Mafia king hero with a soft center for his wife
🖤 Protective, possessive love (earned over time)
❤️ Rebuilding trust instead of instant forgiveness

This felt mature, emotional, and intense in a really satisfying way. A powerful reminder that sometimes love doesn’t disappear—it just needs to be found again.

**Finding Time for Each Other!**

The fourth book in the Ravenous Royals series is titled “Crowned by the Broken Mafia King” by Hope Ford, part of a multi-author series. I absolutely loved Eleanor’s character and her bravery, especially after 35 years of marriage. She is still very much in love with her husband, Robert, whom she affectionately calls "Bobby." However, feeling unappreciated and no longer seen in their marriage, she decides to move out. This leaves Bobby feeling lost and completely broken, wondering what he did wrong.

As Ellie explores the newfound freedom she has been missing over the years, Bobby comes to bring her home. However, she sets boundaries, insisting that things must change before she can return. This moment makes Bobby realize he will do whatever it takes to bring Ellie back home, where she belongs, right by his side.

When a rival mafia boss makes a move on Ellie in public and then sends her flowers privately, it reinforces her fear that no matter what she does, someone is always watching. She begins to understand just how unsafe she truly is on her own and realizes how much Bobby loves her. He is determined to keep her safe, no matter where she lives, which makes her want to come home.

The story of Robert and Eleanor’s troubled marriage is a distinct type of love story that isn’t often told. It is refreshing and sweet to see them rekindle their love, which they never truly lost—they just needed to remind themselves to find time for each other. I can’t wait to see more from the Kingston family and their mafia adventures in the future!

Not your typical Hope Ford romance, which I am so here for. Crowned by the Broken Mafia King by Hope Ford is not the love at first sight romance book we usually get, because this romance couple has been married for 35 years already. Eleanor and Robert, whom we met in Crowned by the Ruthless Billionaire, Cole and Luna’s story, were the perfect mafia royalty couple, they had everything, a beautiful home, the perfect sons, but Eleanor was not happy. Eleanor knew what she was getting into when she married into the Kingston family, and she adored her family, and she loved her husband, and she still does, but she was tired of being put second. She needed more, she needed her husband. But she couldn’t stand being not being part of any decisions, everything was always decided for her, she was just there. That was until threats started, and a rival family started moving into their area, and the head of that family started to make unwanted advances toward Eleanor. Robert needed his wife, his life is nothing without his wife. He knew he had to fix whatever was hurting his wife, and his typical demands would never work. He knew he had to try to be the man that his Ellie needed. But of course just when he said he would try, he stands her up, and another man is there to swoop in. Do not worry, there is no cheating, and this other man, most definitely not wanted. Spectacular!!!

True Love Never Fades Away -
Even though Eleanor she still loved Robert, she felt like the distance between had grown so much it affected their marriage, so she moved out of her marital home to regroup. Robert had been trying to coax Eleanor to return home for months, but she still didn’t agree, so he changed tactics to try and convince her to return. However, Robert’s actions didn’t match his promise, which led to Eleanor doing something that put her in danger.

Fortunately, Robert managed to not only get Eleanor’s forgiveness, but also get her to open up about her feelings and reasons for leaving. Robert and Eleanor came to an agreement that allowed a compromise, but an incident occurred that forced her to return home immediately. Nevertheless, Robert and Eleanor’s blissful reunion was short lived, as his rival’s attempts at disrupting their happiness only reinforced their love for each other and their family.

OMG! I can say without a shadow of doubt, that Hope Ford definitely hit a home run with this gripping romance story, that not a run of the mafia romance, but has a depth of feelings to the story, that will keep you eagerly turning the pages. I highly recommend this book.

Ughhh y’all I got into it around 30% and a part of me was okay yk what this writing style is reminding me of my wattpad days but than I realised that this is not it. Way to many time skips not proper plotting reminds of stories that are on those sketchy website tbh I really wanted to like this I did trust me but I fear the last book and this have had something against me fake romance? Mafia romance? Second chance? Angst? Sign me up! I was so excited for this the second I received the arc I thought I was gonna gobble it up the enthusiasm and everything it was there till the first chapter it reminded me the made series before you come for me it’s not on that level it simply reminded of that because of the vibe the author was doing for I fear this is a dnf too such a shame too I’ve finally gotten free from all the obligations and the first 2 books I sit to read aren’t that good no hate to the author I enjoy background and depth to the characters not surface level dialogue and a few sentences explaining the situation yes the writing style is easy but that’s because there’s not much to it, sorry it had to be said. Now this is my first book by this author but her way of writing is not for me which is regretful y’all I had high expectations for this really high. It didn’t reach them 😭😭 I’m sorry man it’s not for me

This is book four in the multi author Ravenous Royals series and features Robert (the head of the Kingston Mafia) and Eleanor Kingston, Cole’s parents (from Crowned By The Ruthless Billionaire).

Just as with most all of this author’s books, this was a super steamy and heart meltingly sweet read. Not that their love had ALWAYS been like that... Due to Robert’s (only Ellie was allowed to call him Bobby) over protectiveness, Eleanor had moved out of their family home searching for space but, in true romance novel fashion, head of the mafia or not, Robert didn’t allow his powerful position to keep him from demonstrating how obsessed and in love he still was with his wife of thirty five years❤️. I’ll tell you right now, if I was the swooning type, that would’ve done it for me right there! Why can’t real men be like that?!

This is not a book you want to miss! Normally I’m not a fan of later in life romances but I honestly think I could read this book over and over and over and never get tired of it. I happen to love a good romance, you know, the kind I’m talking about? Where a couple falls in love to stay… if that makes this more like a fairytale, I’m ok with that, I like those too. Check it out for yourself, it’s an amazing read. 5 stars

The couple: Robert and Eleanor

Romance trope: marriage in trouble
Series: Ravenous Royals
Length: 105 pages

Plot: The story opens with Eleanor in her apartment, her new home now that she's left her husband of 35 years. She loves Robert but she's done being ignored and pushed aside. She can't seem to make Bobby understand how she feels. But when Ellie is threatened, Bobby intends to make sure she is safe, no matter what.

Commentary: I don't feel like there was enough resolution. I really don't think Bobby ever actually understood what he was doing to Ellie. But it was nice to see an older couple (although we only knew they were older because the story told us they had been married for 35 years, rather than through descriptions) who was still married and were working through their troubles.

Previous book in the series: Crowned by the Ruthless Billionaire

This was a short and steamy second chance romance between an older Mafia don and his wife of 35 years. I really liked how “Ellie” stood her ground and fought to be seen and heard by “Bobby”, in an unconventional for their positions, way. It took him a few months and a lot of hurt to really see and hear her, but he never stopped loving or being obsessed with her. How he came around too to really understanding her and loving her how she deserved to be loved was really sweet. I think the publisher description was changed at some point though because it made him seem cold and ruthless, but he was the total opposite when it came to his queen. So because I read that first I really wasn’t expecting how the story went, but in a better way I think. No cheating or OM/OW drama, separated for a few months but no one else for either of them, dual POV, HEA and a really sweet epilogue. I cannot wait for Knox, Bennet and Audrey’s book and to find out how they deal with her father!

Crowned by the Broken Mafia King is such a fun read. This mafia extra-lite novella focuses on the relationship between boss Robert and his estranged wife Eleanor, who loves him but needed to prove a point to him. They have beautiful chemistry, but she is clearly neglected and left out. I loved the moments where they reconnected, while she also held her ground about needing him to see her for who she truly is. The danger and drama is low-key but still engaging. The hints being dropped about their son and his bestie and their mutual attraction to the enemy’s daughter provides endless entertainment. For being tactically brilliant, Robert’s heart and soul are clearly incomplete without Eleanor by his side. Loved this over the top sizzle and spark.

Ellie walks away from her beloved mafia boss Robert, for her Bobby Kingston, not because the love is gone, because she does feel, like they are not a team anymore, that she is not really seen or valued, ahrd to find the words. She needs a break. Robert does not take it well and wants his wife back, but also he is usied to get whatever he demands, he understands, that she wants to be his partner and pressure would not help. Then their closest enemy makes a move and closes in on them and there are working together as a unit, but the threats keep coming.
Like always with Hope Ford, also it is not the typical story and the end is not known, love the characters and special magic. We met the separated couple before in this series, reading about their sons.

This was such a refreshing change from the usual mafia romance because it focuses on a couple who have already spent a lifetime together. The second-chance marriage storyline felt emotional and surprisingly relatable, with both characters trying to find their way back to each other after years of love, mistakes, and feeling disconnected. I really liked seeing a powerful mafia king brought to his knees by the possibility of losing his wife. Beneath all the power and reputation, Bobby's devotion to her never wavered, and that gave the story a lot of heart. It's sweet, emotional, and full of the reminder that love sometimes deserves a second chance. If you enjoy mature characters, marriage-in-trouble romances, and heroes who never stop loving their woman, this is a lovely read ❤️.

Crowned by the Broken Mafia King is a refreshing take on a mafia romance, focusing on a couple who have been married for 35 years. Eleanor is a standout heroine—brave, strong, and still deeply in love with Bobby, despite feeling unseen and unappreciated in their marriage.

When Ellie moves out to reclaim her independence, Bobby is devastated and determined to win her back. As she discovers life on her own and sets firm boundaries, he realizes that saving their marriage means making real changes.

A rival mafia boss's interest in Ellie highlights the dangers surrounding her, reminding both of them how much they mean to each other. Their journey is less about finding love and more about rebuilding a relationship that never truly lost it. Sweet, emotional, and heartfelt, this second-chance mafia romance offers a unique look at love, marriage, and growing together after decades.

Robert and Ellie have been married for over thirty five years. Robert is the head of the mafia and him and his wife have been very successful. But lately z Ellie feels that Robert is excluding her and not talking to her about what’s going on in the family. She was tired of being an afterthought so she left. She moved into an insecure building trying to get some space from Robert. He missed his wife and he wanted his wife back home. They agree to meet to discuss their problems but Robert hasn’t to cancel and Ellie becomes reckless and almost put herself in serious danger. I get so annoyed when I read books about the mafia and the woman behaves so rash as to cause harm to herself or others. It’s a major pet peeve of mine. Ellie believes that Robert is cheating on her although he wholeheartedly denies it. This is a sweet, short, kinda steamy mafia novella.

When Ellie made the painful decision to separate from her husband she believed it was the only choice she had. She loves Bobby and the life they made with their children, but she is tired of feeling like an outsider when it came to their mafia family.

Bobby can’t imagine a future without Ellie in it but he doesn’t know how he can convince her to return. When her realizes that his enemy plans to use his wife in their war there he is nothing he won’t do to keep her safe and she shows him that she is his equal and doesn’t need to be protected from the family business.

The love between the was never in doubt. Ellie is strong, independent and unwilling to accept less than what she deserves and once Bobby realizes that he might lose the only woman he has ever loved he will do whatever is necessary to give Ellie what she needs.

This book is part of a series called Ravenous Royals with authors Michele Mills and Olivia T Turner. Tropes: marriage in turmoil, older main characters, 35 years married, mafia family, and only you vibes. I absolutely loved Eleanor "Ellie" and understood why she left her marriage. Eleanor felt like she lost herself and Robert "Bobby" lost sight of them being a unit instead of taking care of things himself. I was rooting for Robert to just listen to Eleanor because you could feel their love through the pages. Love was never their problem and I respected Eleanor for standing up for herself. Read in one setting. Can't wait for the next book. 5 stars!.

This was a sweet second chance read. I love how much love and loyalty these two have for each other. Robert just wants to protect Eleanor and she just wants to be seen and considered again.
Robert is the Mafia King and his wife recently left him.
Eleanor and Robert have been married for thirty five years. Somewhere along the way she feels like she became invisible. What he thinks is protecting her she sees as being not involved or considered.
When his enemy finds out he tries to use it to his advantage. What he sees as a weakness only makes their bond stronger. And Robert will burn down the world to keep her and to keep her safe.

Crowned By The Broken Mafia King is a marriage in "trouble", second chance, mafia light, interconnected standalone with a little drama and steamy scenes to keep you hooked.

Ellie and Bobby have been married 35 years, but now things are different. A multitude of little things have taken their marriage from a partnership to one where Ellie feels displaced. So to find herself again she takes a step away from the family home, the family and her husband.

However she's not allowed to make this decision lightly as Bobby is keen to get his wife back, and when he realises it's not as simple as asking he starts to show up with actions rather than false promises.

Good read, different from Hope's other books which is always welcome and I'm excited to see how the next book unfolds.

This book is a part of the Ravenous Royals series and focuses on Robert (Bobby) and Eleanor (Ellie). Ellie and Bobby have been married for 35 years when Ellie decides that the life they two have built together is not at all what she wants. She loves her husband and her sons with everything in her but she's tired of the way they live their lives. Due to this, she walks away to try and lead a normal life. Ellie and Bobby are still deeply in love but Ellie refuses to come back until she knows that things will change. Bobby is determined to win his wife back and is willing to do what he needs to do to get Ellie back where she belongs. This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

Oh my was this book great. Robert and Eleanor have been married for 35 years and have full grown boys. And like any marriage there are some rough and rocky times, but in this marriage it is more so when you are a mafia king. All Eleanor wants is to be included and informed, not always left in the dark. But she can only take so much until she needs space and a break away from Robert. Don't get me wrong she still loves him hard, but he needs to realize they are a team and 2 months operated will do that.
This was a great book. Both Robert and Eleanor are still passionate for the other and completely in love with the other.

This mature second-chance romance stands out by exploring love, identity, and rediscovery within a long-established marriage rather than a new relationship. The emotional conflict - feeling unseen despite enduring love -adds a poignant layer, while the backdrop of danger and power injects tension into an otherwise intimate story. The dynamic between the Ellie and Bobby balances vulnerability with intensity and offers a fresh perspective on what it means to choose love again after years of shared history.

Crowned by the Broken Mafia King is the story of a thirty-five year marriage between MMC Robert Kingston and his wife FMC Eleanor who has left him temporarily.
A Mafia king who has lost sight of what is really important, his Queen who just wants to be SEEN by him.
I enjoyed their short story with its little drama, Mafia dynamics, intrigue, and passion as they work together to resolve their issues because love really does conquer all.
Good writing, and well crafted characters made this an entertaining second chance, sweet romantic read. HEA.

3.75 - 4 stars.

This one was a little sad in that 35 years of marriage had ended up with them separated, the love was still there but the marriage needed work for it survive and thrive. There were moments of humour, danger, anger, secrets, family interactions and being honest. I liked that they were finally able to be open and honest with each other, to listen, to learn and make changes where needed. I liked the love and support they had for each other and that she could see what was on the cards for Bennett and Knox but he couldn't just yet.

This is a stand alone read in the multi-author "Ravenous Royals" series. "These possessive princes and kings won't settle for just any woman. They want their queen. The one true love who can bring these powerful royals to their knees." It is a fairly short and quick read about Eleanor and Robert Kingston. Robert is the Mafia King of the south and she has walked away from her husband, the Kingston home and her security. She is tired of feeling alone and not part of her husbands life, she is now staying in an apartment on her own. Robert is determined to bring her home. This is a cute story with some danger, suspense, passion, one determined man and a bit more.

Eleanor/Ellie and Robert/Bobby have been married for thirty-five years and have two grown children. They have grown apart but still love each other. She decides to leave, but when danger finds her, he goes into protective mode and wants her home so he can protect her. This is a Mafia romance between an older couple who realize they still love each other. The writing is well done, the characters are believable, and the epilogue was the cherry on top for their happily ever after. Crowned by the Broken Mafia King is a great addition to the multi-author Ravenous Royals series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Ellie and Robert have been married for thirty five years and he is the head of the mafia and makes decisions for the family which caused Ellie to feel like she no longer had a say in the family business and that is how Ellie ended up in her apartment for months until Victor tries to move into their territory to sell drugs and Ellie and Robert will not allow that. That is what caused Ellie to move back home.

This Ravenous Royals series continues with book two and delves into Robert and Eleanor’s relationship. They are the parents we meet in book one “Crowned by the Ruthless Billionaire” who were separated. We learn more about the strong bond, the ruthlessness of the mafia leader, the marriage bond that is unbreakable, and the villain that wants to destroy everything. A quick story that is action-packed with unwavering love, powerful men, and scorching chemistry. "This is my honest review of an advanced reader copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily."

This is a wonderful story with two likeable characters Robert and Eleanor. She is dealing with the ups and downs of being a mafia wife and feels that Robert is not doing his due diligence as a husband, so she decides to go. The drama begins and Robert and Eleanor finally see themselves and the faults that caused the problems. I loved this story it may not have a lot of action-packed drama, but it does have a romantic side with a lot of side bars that made this an interesting read.
