Micah Stone sees Solitaire as a fresh start. With twenty years’ experience in the agriculture industry, he hopes the colony won’t make the same mistakes that were made on Earth.

To most people, Micah looks like a member of the well educated elite, but he’s really a Gaia activist. Not only did he lie about his daughter’s age to get her on board, but his partner is one of the most dangerous women on Siren.

Felicity Valez was once an Army explosives expert, and she was also a member of the radical Gaia Movement. After being sentenced to life for sedition, she wound up on Siren. To protect her partner and daughter while they’re on board, she needs to make sure that no one links the family together.

But her liaisons with Micah have been noted. And when her daughter’s life is threatened Felicity will do the one thing she promised Micah she’d never do again: rig an explosive that will kill.

No one on Siren is safe.

I've been looking forward to Felicity's story and this wasn't bad, plus they finally made it to the planet.

Shona Husk really brings it home in book 9 of this series. Ours to Save was a touching and poignant story about two people who have spent a lifetime committed to each other. No matter the obstacles. The only thing more important to the other is their child.

Felicity Valez was once a respected member of the military but she was frustrated in the way the Elite were running the world. Their greed and corruption had all but ruined Earth. Joining Gaia seemed like the best choice at the time but even they seemed to be working to slowly. So she followed the more militant aspect of Gaia. Blew up a couple of bridges a damn or two. No one was hurt and the people that needed it actually got the water. Only that's not how the Elite saw it. Convicted to 10 years she had to leave behind her lover and child. But Micah was Elite and he knew how to pull strings. So now she finds herself on the Siren a dreaded white but she does get to spend 30 minutes every month or so with the man of her dreams. Too bad her past just won't leave her alone.

Micah Stone believes in Solitaire. He truly thinks if it is formed correctly it could be Earth's salvation. A new chance. And since he's an Elite he has the power and the money to bribe those he needs to. Changing his daughter's age to 16 so she can travel with him, he also manages to get Felicity aboard. All for a chance at a new life, as a family.

Of course the past is never completely gone and when they are blackmailed into helping the whack job who wants her own country.. well what can they do, their daughter's very life is on the line.

This was tense at times but Shona is a gifted author and tells a truly beautiful story. What wouldn't you do for your child? Would you die for her? More importantly, would you live for her? Felicity and Micah are put to the test and discover that sometimes, love really is enough.

Ours to Save brings the ES Siren to Solitaire but I am really hoping for more stories about the men and women who are going to build this new world.

Ours to Save is the seriously explosive finish to the ES Siren series by Shona Husk, Denise Rossetti and Mel Teshco. Yep, used an adverb. THE adverb. Couldn't help it. With Unity so very, very close, the passengers on ES Siren have a lot more to think about than landing and hard work. A prisoner faction has infiltrated all corners of the ship and refuses remain under the jailors' control.

This ninth and final episode of the series adds an element we haven't seen before.

A family.

I really felt for Micah and Felicity. I loved how they were presented and wanted them to succeed and have the happy ending they never got on Earth. Both are brave and willing to give it all up for each other and their daughter.

I liked how Husk combined the action from book seven, Ours to Embrace, and my feelings for the rebels I got to know in book eight , Ours to Share, and put me in the unenviable position of needing both sides to succeed. Not only do we see the tension through to the end but we also feel the isolation of those for whom the stakes are highest while they are so very helpless to take action.

Again, I appreciated how very well Husk, Rossetti and Tescho built nine stories together, each contributing three and nailed their consistency of plot, voice and world building.

Ours to Save: ES Siren 9 by Shona Husk is the best book of the entire series. The emotional upheaval, the suspense and the danger makes this story an imaginative incredible novella. Denise Rossetti did a wonderful job in setting the stage with the inside view of the uprising in Ours to Embrace - ES Siren 07, but Shona Hush took it to an even higher level with a tightly plotted novella rounding out this trio set.

I had never thought of a couple being torn apart but ending up on The Siren. If this was real, most likely that very thing would happen. Micah Stone’s sting pulling to get his only love and his daughter on board the Siren puts him in a true hero’s category in my book. Even the walking on eggshells to try and see Felicity is commendable. I had mixed feelings about Felicity in the beginning, but as she saw the differences between Nadia and herself I grew to admire her too. Then the tense mother/daughter reunion was heart wrenching to say the least. Overall these characters were well thought out within a compelling story.

From the earlier books descriptions I saw earth similar to how it was portrayed in the movie Blade Runner. This story gives the most information on what went wrong and how those in power where doing nothing to change the sad shape earth’s environment had become. I think I would have taken my changes on going to Solitaire, too.

While I can’t really say that this is a stand-alone book, I don’t think it was ever meant to be. However, it really adds to the overall series.

Great Novella!
This is a great novella; this is the ninth book in the ES Series by Shona Husk. Felicity Valez was an Army explosives expert and was also a member of the radical Gaia Movement. After she was sentenced to life for sedition, she wound up on Siren. Felicity’s partner is Micah Stone and is also a Gaia activist. They had to lie about their daughter’s age to get her on board. When their daughters life is threatened they must work together to save her. If you are looking for a great Science Fiction/romance then you need to read this book. It has a great story and characters. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Felicity has been sentenced to Siren for using her abilities as an explosive expert to destroy some bridges and damns, where no one was injured. Micah is an elite and knows how to pull strings to get on board Siren with his underage daughter, so they can all be together. But someone knows there secret and is blackmailing them, what are they willing to do to keep their secret and their daughter safe. This story is edge of your seat, action packed, plenty of emotion and suspense.
