He’s been waiting centuries for her . . . to kill her. Too bad he’s her best option for refuge.
Victoria and her brother have spent their lives as sorcerer outcasts, thanks to their half human heritage. Except, it turns out they aren’t half human after all—they’re half vampire, a secret they’re more than willing to keep with all the drama surrounding some prophecy about a sorcerer vampire mixed blood leader who will supposedly unite the four vampire covens.
Which works well right up until a vampire realizes the truth about their heritage. Suddenly, Victoria and her brother are getting very personal attention from the leader of the Spellcaster Coven, a fanatical believer in the prophesied leader who would gladly turn Victoria and her brother into vampires against their will to verify whether they’re the one he’s been searching for.
Unwilling to turn to the sorcerers who’ve always scorned them for help, their best chance of escaping the Spellcaster Coven is also their Benjamin, leader of the Bruiser Coven, who wants this prophesied leader dead. But hopefully he’ll settle for keeping a mere potential candidate out of the hands of his enemies.
Dive into this urban fantasy trilogy featuring enemies to lovers, a sweet, slow burn romance, and a prophesied ruler who just wants to live in peace.
Not as clean as the other series which I didn’t like. But I did like the twins and the other characters. So good and I would read the rest in the series, but not as good as the other books.
This is my favorite Marie Bellmere book to date! I love the story premise, and the characters are fantastic. I can’t wait for book two. If you like the Magiford series by K.M. Shea, you will enjoy this series!
She did it again! Such a great start to another series in the enchanted races world! Heavy KM Shea vibes here and I LOVED it. Can’t wait for the next one! Hoping the next trilogy is rapid release. 😅 so so good!
*Series or Connected Books?* 1st in a trilogy & must be read in order

*Point Of View:* Victoria & Benjamin
*Any Cursing Or Possibly Offensive Language?* there are about 7 mentions of characters cursing/swearing without using words on page

Review:
This is so much fun already! I don’t think we’ve really learned too much about the Bruiser vampires in previous trilogies beyond Benjamin’s war against Elias so I loved every second of finding out more about them! I loved getting to know Victoria & Victor (her twin brother) as well! It was interesting to see how/what they were doing on the outskirts of sorcerer society and what managed to get them on the vampires’ radar. I loved their sibling relationship and the support they provided each other. And Benjamin’s friendship with his first blade was fun too! I loved that Jett was willing to call Benjamin out on things, even when Benjamin wasn’t wanting to hear what Jett was saying. 😂
I can’t wait to get to book 2 and book 3 in October!
Summary:
(I won’t include a summary piece from Benjamin’s point of view as I believe I’d spoil some aspects of the story if I tried)
Victoria has tried to live a decent life as a human alongside her brother ever since their parents left them behind. As half-sorcerers and what they thought was half-human heritage in their blood, it only made sense to ‘be’ human with the stigmatism any enchanted race had toward half-bloods. It was their only chance at a normal life. That is, until their half-human heritage turned out to actually be half-vampire.
With a vampire coven leader on the hunt for the prophesied vampire leader to unite all vampire covens, they unfortunately could be considered candidates for the position. But with one coven leader trying to force their way to finding the new leader and another killing any potential ones, Victoria and her brother want absolutely nothing to do with it. But when the fanatical one who’d likely force them to turn into vampires to test their candidacy finds them, their only chance at survival is going for help from the one vampire who would kill them…
Outcast by Marie Bellmere had a compelling premise, and I found myself invested in the characters and eager to see how everything would unfold. The emotional moments and relationship dynamics were engaging, and there were several scenes that kept me turning the pages.
That said, there were moments where the pacing dragged a bit, and I wished certain plot points had been explored more deeply. I wish that Benjamin and Victoria had more time to get to know each other. Even so, the overall story was enjoyable, and the world Bellmere created kept me interested and ended in a clifhanger. I will be picking up book 2 soon, when it is released in July!
Outcast was a fantastic book! I couldn't stop reading! Victoria is so easy to like and root for. She's lost so much over the years, but she doesn't just sit there and take it; she's determined to do whatever she can so that she and Victor can survive. Benjamin is so complicated, putting his vampire clan above everything. All the Bruiser vampires were an absolute riot! Dance fighting for the win! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!!
