Investigating the Hottie #3

Down Under with the Hottie

Rate this book
Ten days in Sydney, Australia with my first boyfriend! My Spring Break couldn’t be better. Sure, it’s a mission for GASI, but we lucked out with our cover story. We are boyfriend and girlfriend traveling with a group of American high school students.

I mean, sure, we have some terrorists to stop. And some of the teens on the trip aren’t the nicest. Then there’s this guy, Aaron, who seems to be watching us. With Grandma, Nic, Christie, and some help from the Australians, how can we lose? Except some of our help is actually a hindrance and we’re down to the wire on stopping the terrorists from blowing up the Sydney Tower. The brutal truth is that missions fail, but can we live with ourselves if we don’t succeed?

This time, Amanda and Will are sent with a high school tour group on a trip to Australia, where there is a terrorist threat. This time, it's Grandma's turn to get kidnapped, and everyone is not who they seem.

Down Under with the Hottie by Juli Alexander is the third book in the Investigating the Hottie series. It is spring break and Amanda has a new assignment. She is going to Australia. Her long-distance boyfriend, is also going as well as her Aunt Christie and her partner, Nic. Amanda and Will Middleton will be joining a tour group called Go Big Tours that is going to Sydney (and see the sights). Their mission is to stop a terrorist plot to take down Sydney's economy. GASI's believes that Avaritia Militia (from the last book) is behind the plot. Will and Amanda are teen spies Global Agency for Shared Intelligence (GASI). So far Amanda's parents do not know that she is a spy and Aunt Christie has avoided telling them. Will's parents do know and his grandmother, Brenda is also a spy.

The Go Big group all meets up in LA for the long flight to Sydney. The group consists of a four mean girls, three jocks, Aaron (who is sticking to Amanda and Will like glue), and the chaperones. One of the chaperones happens to be Will's grandmother, Brenda. The tour is not quite what Will and Amanda are expecting. They get to stay in a cheap hotel, eat lousy food, and have to carry hideous backpacks (who wants mustard yellow on a backpack).

In between seeing the sights, they are trying to get information on the attack. Will and Amanda are looking forward to using their spy skills as well as some of the wonderful GASI technology. Down Under with the Hottie gets 3.75 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed the book, but I did not find it as good as the first two books in the series. Down Under with the Hottie is available on Kindle Unlimited.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Will and Amanda's next mission is in Australia where they're trying to stop some explosions from taking place. Luckily for them, this time around they're going undercover as boyfriend and girlfriend! Oh yeah! ;)

I loved it so, so much! It was very exciting and adventurous and just so sweet and romantic! I did feel like we didn't get enough of Christie and Nic though. There's just something up with them, and I don't know what... Hmmm...

I really liked the new characters we met, especially the new Aussie spies! They were just so cool!

There were actually a couple of twists I did not see coming... Like, whoa! What?! There was one particular... person that just shocked me. The jerk-face -_- I was actually warming up to the traitor when bam! We find out that, well, he's a traitor! Ugh! The story was also very suspenseful towards the end, which I loved! However, as was the case in the last book, the fight scene was sort of anticlimactic since we don't really get to see it =/ Then we were told how things end (not shown) But I kind of forgave them since it was extremely hilarious! You go birds, you go! ;D

But I really love this series, nonetheless. It's just so much fun and I always have a blast reading any of Juli's books! I cannot wait for her to publish her next novel!

I like this series, and this book does not disappoint.

I foudn the main character, Amanda, to be smart and sassy. She's still a teen, and she deals with typical teen drama (friends and boufriend), in addition to being a spy.

I love the premise, and really enjoyed reading this book. Enough laughs, drama and action to captivate to the last page.

3.5 STARS!

Slightly disappointing in comparison to the second novel! I am not a fan of the covers, they are rather cheesy, but you definitely need to look past them as the content is certainly brilliant.

When Amanda and Will are sent on their third mission to Australia, they finally get to be themselves… sort of. On a mission to stop a group of terrorists, they need to help figure out when and where they are going to strike. Alongside this, they need to keep an eye on their fellow high school students, especially the ever-present Aaron.

Amanda and Will, like in the previous novel, are absolutely adorable. They have such a loving and fun relationship, certain to bring a smile to your face. The only problem I sadly had with them, was their witty and humorous comments. What our protagonists were saying, though was funny, felt forced and false; their witty banter just did not flow like it did in the previous novel. But I felt our secondary characters really supported the novel, and it was enjoyable to see them again from the previous novel.

The plot of this novel was addictive and interesting. I was certainly hooked, especially in the last third of the novel for Alexander provided detailed and informative descriptions of events that occurred, but also decisions that were made. The main problem I found with the plot was pacing, for I found it to be really slow. Towards the end it did speed up, but for the build up I felt it dragged. Though I can certainly say it is addictive and the espionage theme was brilliant!

Fun and interesting, Down with the Hottie was an addictive sequel, yet I just did not feel it was as good as the second novel Undercover with the Hottie.

Book Review- Down Under with the Hottie by Juli Alexander

Amanda and Will are back and on a mission to help the Australian government stop an attack on the country. They are posing as student travelers on a tour of the country. They are hoping to stop an attack that could affect the economic system of the country.
The tour is proving to be a challenge for their undercover work. One student constantly seeks them out and the chaperone known as Coach won’t let them do anything together alone. Their hands seem to be tied as they try to complete the mission.
They are able to go in undercover with Nic and Christie as they try to find information to stop the possible terrorist attack. It is slow going and frustrating until they get a break. When they find out who is behind the threats everyone is shocked. Will and Amanda are placed in more danger than they realize.
This is another installment to the teenage spy series. It is a fun series and this book is a great addition. Will and Amanda are great characters that YA readers can relate to. They are cute together. Nic and Christie are also fun to watch. Their relationship is more of a question. The reader is kept guessing just like Amanda.
I also liked the theme of friendship and helping others. US agents step in to help the Australian agents and work together to bring down a terrorist plot. It’s full of spy activities and planning of moves. The reader feels as they are part of the planning process, like they are agents themselves. Definite a good read for YA readers who like spy stories. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Note: I received an eARC copy of this title in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not paid to write this. This is also book 3 in a series.

Down Under with the Hottie by Juli Alexander was another fun, short read in the Investigating the Hottie series. In this installment Amanda and Will along with Christie, Nic, and Will’s Grandma head to Australia to try and stop a terrorist attack.

There were a few minor aspects to the plot that had me a bit confused as to their importance, such as coach, one of the chaperones. I’m not completely sure what his deal was. He seemed to have a larger role in the story, which I don’t think was exactly necessary. It made it feel like a school trip to Australia, which it wasn’t. Or at least I don’t think it was…

The main plot itself, however, was fun and definitely kept me on my toes. I liked the subtle tie in of the mystery to the mystery in Undercover with the Hottie. It makes me wonder what’s to come in the next book. I also wasn’t expecting some of the twists that occurred, especially towards the end.

Overall, Down Under with the Hottie was a quick, fun read. Great for those that just want a shorter read and like books about teenaged spies.

Spring Break Terror Plot

This series must be read in order. The first book is Investigating The Hottie. The second book is Undercover With The Hottie. This is the third book. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Amanda and Will are on their way to Sydney,Australia to thwart a terrorist attack for GASI. Their supervising agents are Amanda's Aunt Christine and her partner Nic. Weirdly enough Christine and Nic are playing a married couple AGAIN... What's up with that?! Does GASI know something they don't? At least Amanda & Will don't have to pretend to be related again! Going as a real couple relieves A LOT of pressure on their cover story and will help them blend in to the Go Big Tour Group and excuse any suspicion about why they keep disappearing. Will they be able to find the terroists' targets in time? Will the attack be prevented? Or will they fail and have to deal with the aftermath? Will they be able to have any fun?

***This series is suitable for young adult through adult readers who enjoy a little romance in their scifi action adventure spy thrillers with plenty of humor and loads of intrigue :)

Life is much better on this assignment during Spring Break for Amanda and Will. This book in the series has them actually playing in love, a huge improvement from the last time they were forced to play siblings.

What's not so cool is the fact that there are terrorists out there targeting a number of Australian landmarks. Now they need to figure out who the bad guys are, and what the plan is before the strike.

Nic and Christie are still denying their relationship, but the affection is peeking through at the oddest of times. Now Amanda needs to figure out just why Aaron seems to be on their case, coz she is definitely not comfortable with him around.

Can the spy kids do the impossible and catch the terrorist? Of course they can, it's an action packed thriller.

Wrapped up fast

I enjoyed it but the ending was very disjointed. I had to go back and make sure I wasn't missing pages. I am still not sure if missed something. Excellent YA. Over empowering for young girls. I would recommend, especially for teens. Gbash

This was good but very confusing and anticlimatic at the very end. I liked how it moved into Australia though because I'm an Aussie and not many books are set in Australia.
