3.5 stars.

I really enjoyed most of The Dead Girls Book Club. The mystery was engaging, the atmosphere kept me hooked, and I flew through the pages. Unfortunately, the final twist revealing the murderer didn’t quite work for me. It felt rushed and less developed than the rest of the story, which took away from an otherwise compelling read. I’m still glad I picked it up, but I was left wishing for a more satisfying ending.

Honestly, I guessed the ending… then I changed my mind, and I was so sure I had it right… when I was right to begin with. A good twist!

For as many psychological thrillers as I read I have no idea how I am still shocked at the ending of each 😂 Like Detective Ken Sanders I am not a good detective. Will definitely be awaiting the second installment of this series!

I felt the book could have developed the surprise more. The twist just was too thin on evidence to buy it.

I devoured The Dead Girls Book Club by Zia Rayyan in a single day, and I honestly haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

This book was unsettling, sharp, and deeply validating in a way I didn’t know I needed. As a domestic violence survivor, it scratched an itch that so few thrillers ever do: it understands power, control, silence, and the slow burn of fear beneath polished lives. Nothing felt gratuitous. Everything felt intentional.

Dark, intelligent, and emotionally precise; this is the best book I’ve read in quite some time. If you love psychological thrillers that linger and see you, put this at the top of your list.

I’m not sure if it’s because I read this book after two absolute BANGERS (in my humble opinion, of course!), but I just…I just didn’t love it. I liked it, but didn’t love it. I didn’t feel the characters were fleshed out enough to really be immersed in their stories, and although it felt like quite a zippy read, I just didn’t have the sense of palpable thrill in the storyline I was hoping for.

3.5 ⭐️!
Flew through this one in a few hours! Fast paced, easy read thriller with an interesting ending!

I can’t say I loved it but I also can’t say it wasn’t my favourite. Nice intro to a new author!

There is something so satisfying about reading the first page of a book, and immediately something in your brain goes 'Yes, I’m really going to like this' and then every subsequent page proves you right. However, it didn’t even take a whole page for me with this one, it had me at sentence number 4!

This is a whodunnit that will have you wondering whodunnit right up to the very end.
A story that made me question myself because I was rooting for the baddie the whole way through 😬.

I haven’t met a Zia Rayyan book I didn’t like yet but this has just become my favourite.

The protagonist was instantly relatable, to I imagine, many women; a lonely grown up female, longing for friendship & in a stale relationship, realising she had lost herself. I felt for her, I wanted her to get what she craved. A sisterhood, a tribe, unconditional love. It’s not a soppy tale though, there is murder, violence, lying, cheating….all the necessities of a fantastic thriller & a twist you won’t see coming.

Zia writes from a female point of view perfectly, you won’t find any infuriating women making the kind of decisions that have you rolling your eyes at them. They are fierce but likeable, fallible, insecure but strong & real.

If you want a book you will struggle to put down, this won’t disappoint at all. It’s perfectly paced so ‘just one more chapter’ never works out that way. I blazed through this, being very fortunate to be a beta reader for Zia, I highly recommend for you to read this as soon as it’s released.

Absolutely loved it.

This was my first Zia Rayyan book—and it will absolutely not be my last.

Dead Girls Book Club is a dark, eerie psychological thriller that sits perfectly at the intersection of Lucinda Berry’s emotional depth, Freida McFadden’s page-turning tension, and Alice Feeney’s unsettling twists. From the start, there’s a quiet unease that seeps in slowly… and then refuses to let go.

The pacing was a little slower than I initially expected, but instead of pulling me out of the story, it did the opposite. I found myself needing to understand why this was a psychological thriller, constantly questioning what I was reading, rereading chapters, and muttering “what the hell is happening?” more than once. And I’m so glad I trusted the process—because the payoff is worth it.

This book delivers sisterhood, obsession, manipulation, and that creeping sense that something is deeply wrong beneath the surface. It’s eerie, uncomfortable in the best way, and full of moments that make you stop and reassess everything you thought you knew.

By the end, one quote kept echoing in my head:
“It doesn’t matter who has known you the longest, it matters who stayed.”
That sentiment hits hard and perfectly captures the emotional core beneath the thriller elements.

If you enjoy twisty, domestic psychological thrillers that make you question everyone—and yourself—Dead Girls Book Club is one you won’t forget.

I have lots of thoughts on this and unfortunately most of them aren’t great. Starting with a huge pet peeve of mine a when the story contradicts itself. Saying “she finds herself squished in the car between two people” and the following sentence saying “she leaned her head on the cool window”…. When have you ever sat in a middle seat with a window?? I want that on my next plane ride. And the first book club meeting where she gets so drunk she leaves her car….. then never goes back for it. But don’t worry! it’s in the driveway later in the story? Little things like this throughout the book truly ruined the flow.
The twist was just… not good. It felt like each character served a clear purpose - Sam and Casey were completely useless characters but without them, there would be no one else to suspect. Either build them into believable warranted characters, or leave them out. And lastly, I’m not sure if we’re supposed to know from the first chapter who the “other woman” is, but I pegged it from the very first interaction.
It wasn’t awful or the worst thing I’ve ever read, but would love to see a more developed version of the story.

Worth all the hype! Loved the characters specifically Jessica ! And they reminded me of the 3 Musketeers where all for one and one for all. And the plot twist at the end was mind blowing. Can’t wait for the second book in December

The Dead Girl’s Book Club hooked me almost immediately and held my attention all the way through the final page. From the very beginning, the author creates an atmosphere that feels tense, intriguing, and emotionally layered, making it incredibly easy to become invested in both the story and the characters. The pacing is especially well done — each chapter reveals just enough to keep you curious while smoothly pulling you deeper into the mystery. It has that addictive “just one more chapter” quality that makes it very hard to step away.

What really stood out to me was how the book balances suspense with emotional depth. The story feels intense and high-stakes, but it never feels rushed or chaotic. Instead, the tension builds naturally, allowing moments to really land and giving the twists more impact. There’s a strong emotional core running through the story that makes the characters feel real and the stakes feel meaningful, which only adds to how gripping the overall experience is.

I ended up finishing this book much faster than I planned because I genuinely could not put it down. It’s the kind of thriller that keeps your mind racing even when you’re not reading, constantly making you think about what might happen next. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves a smart, fast-paced thriller with strong storytelling, great pacing, and plenty of tension to keep you turning pages late into the night.

I'm beyond excited to see there will be a second book, "Dead Girls First" due out in December!!

Wow! Zia has easily become another of my favorite authors! Dead Girls Book Club had me guessing until the very end.

Poor Amelia has no clue what she has gotten herself into when she agrees to join a book club that’s not her typical genre. She is desperate for friends to break up the monotony of her day to day life with her absent husband. Who just happens to be a cop chasing a local serial killer.

Starting with the first meeting of the book club, Amelia knows that something is going on with one of these girls but she can’t put her finger on it.

This fast paced book was quite the page turner. Full of thrills & breath holding. I can’t wait for the second one!

First of all!
Hands down the best story I’ve ever read. And there’s a SERIES?!

Not only is this book based off of my actual real-life book club(not the actual story but the characters lol), but it keeps you super captivated! I mean, who doesn’t want to read about women coming together to join a book club and the secrets hiding within?! Each character is so developed and unique. I just wanted to keep turning pages. The book was a two day read for me which is the quickest I’ve ever read a book before. And the end game? Unbelievable.
Can’t wait to read about the development of all the other women, in adjacency to Amelia! 100⭐️

Forgive me for a second…I’m still picking my jaw up off the ground! I loved this book from start to finish, and I’m not just saying that as a super Zia fan! Everything that makes Zia a great author shows up in this book…great character development in a short amount of time, unreliable characters and narrator that you can’t decide whether to
love or hate, thrills and chills, excellent pacing, short, quick chapters…it’s all there. Now I am always honest in my reviews…I figured out the twists relatively quickly, but that doesn’t mean Zia didn’t leave me questioning my own conjectures throughout “The Dead Girls Book Club!” I loved every minute of this read…unable to put it down from the moment it hit my Kindle screen! If you haven’t read a Zia book yet, you’re truly missing out. They’re all good, but Zia keeps proving with each release while he will soon be one of the next names on the lips of thriller lovers everywhere. I have no idea how he expects us to wait until December 2026 for “Dead Girls First.”

I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller novel. Its concise length and engaging plot kept me captivated throughout. The unexpected plot twist was particularly impressive, as I had anticipated several potential outcomes. The conclusion was brilliantly executed, leaving a lasting impression. I highly recommend this book, which I would rate between 4 and 5 stars. Its accessible writing style and thrilling narrative make it an enjoyable read that I intend to purchase in physical form and add to my library. Bravo!

This book did not disappoint one bit. This book was everything we were waiting for and more. The plot twist at the end had me gasping!! To read this book and know exactly who the characters were was such a new experience for me but I love it. Zia’s writing will take you through everything that happens and make you feel all of it. Those of us who are dead inside but can still have each other!

I need everyone to add this to their TBR for 2026!!

I saw this posted in a FB group by the author and I’m so glad I grabbed it. I’ve really been loving indie authors lately, and this one did not disappoint.

I went in completely blind — had no idea what it was about — and WOW. It hooked me from the very first page. Such a quick, addictive read. I was constantly guessing who the killer was… and just when I thought I had it figured out — BOOM. That twist near the end had me in a chokehold.

And then another BOOM moment where everything suddenly makes sense.

I seriously hope this turns into a series because I am ALL IN. Loved it. 👏📚

This book should be a movie!!!! I feel like this book had a different vibe than his other books, but it did NOT disappoint. It was literally a 10/10🔥. I also loved how the book kept referencing Miss Murder. That was *chef’s kiss*. I genuinely did not see any of the twists coming. Once I thought I knew what was going on, I was still absolutely wrong. Now I can’t wait for the next book!

I LOVED this book. It's a genuine page turner, and action packed from the start. My one gripe is the ending. I hated the ending (the last 20 pages or so) and how Amelia ended up being the killer. It could have gone so many different ways in my opinion, and in turn ended up being quite disappointing and anticlimactic after an amazing build up.

This was the first Zia Rayyan book I've read. I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller. Kept me engaged all the way through. I had some suspicions about some of the key plot points before the big reveals, but loved that I guessed correctly. Even though I had it figured out, I still enjoyed the reveals and was satisfied with the ending.

Dead girls book club— it’s true, find your tribe. Never knew I needed a group of friends to read books with and get together and just bond and talk books and life with. I’m gonna recommend for my friends in the book club to read. It was a quick read with humor, friendship and a FMC that you just loved.

I loved the premise: a Book Club group that is actually more than a book club, its members all ladies that are unhinged and intense in the best way. While I did not love the ending and reveal of who the killer was, I can’t think of another scenario that would have been better given the other options. Overall a solid easy read and I enjoyed it. I will look for others by this author.

Great book and premise! Can't beat the promo either. A book club, acceptance, revenge, affairs, murder, more books and friends.
Well worth the read and I look forward to the next in the sequel this December.
