Kathryn Ann Clarke is an American writer living in Ireland, known for her young adult fiction and her work in domestic violence prevention, and also for her Catholic mystical writings published under the pseudonym "Anne, a lay apostle".
In September 2001, Clarke visited the town of Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina, a site of alleged apparitions of the Virgin Mary, and soon thereafter began to write messages which she has claimed are from Jesus, from the Virgin Mary, and from many other Catholic saints. Clarke stated she received these messages in prayer (as interior locutions).
In 2003 she began to publish them in ten books under the general title "Direction for Our Times as Given to 'Anne', a lay apostle", saying she was adopting a pseudonym to protect her family. The first four volumes were issued by CMJ Marian Publishers based in Chicago by May 2004. On October 15, 2004, "Anne" recorded the last message of the ten volumes, and several more volumes of the set were issued in December 2004. Volumes 5 and 8 were published in 2013.
Clarke also reported a new message for the world each month from December 2004 to August 2012.
Anne is a wife, mother of six, and a Secular Franciscan.
I am usually skeptical about people who claim they have clear conversations with Jesus and Mary the Mother of God. It might come from my envy or lack of trust in the ability of an all-powerful, all-knowing God. I guess it is a miracle in this day and age where you can fully trust without hesitation the motives of someone who has the chance to earn an easy buck.
That being crudely said, I did pick up what I believe to be fruits of the Holy Spirit. If you believe some of these things listed below would be something you would like to read about, then I suggest this book to you. - "Lord, fill my heart with love for you" - Turn for all worldly things and focus your time and energy on prayer and spiritual direction - The truth is found in the Bible - Give yourself completely to your wife and children without need to compensation - Imitate the Holy Family by spending your time helping those in your family draw closer to God in each of their own ways.
From Kathryn Anne Clarke's heretical book Directions for Our Times: Concerning lost souls: "Remember that with many souls, your good wishes and prayers are enough to save their souls from perdition." (Supposedly a quote from Mary). "Mary" continues her message: "There is only one way now, and it is OUR way." (Emphasis from me). No mention of the Biblical Gospel, the need for repentance, trusting Christ alone for salvation. Just a false assurance that "good wishes" can save and that Mary plays a role in salvation. How many people has this author sent to Hell with a false assurance that all is well?
Kathryn Anne Clarke's few final "revelations" in her heretical book Direction for Our Times makes the claim that Mary declared herself to be the Woman Clothed with the Sun from Revelation 12. While the male Child born to this woman is irrefutably Jesus Christ, the woman is identified as Israel by most Godly commentators. The woman COULD be Mary but most likely represents the nation of Israel perhaps with Mary being a Godly representative. Let's look at Revelation 12:1-2, 5-6 for a fuller explanation: "And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth. . . . She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne, and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days." This woman clearly is present and on earth during the Tribulation. The Mary of Catholicism is in Heaven and apparently glorified to the same level as Christ. This woman of Revelation 12 is on the run and requires protection and shielding by God. Surely this woman is the nation of Israel and NOT Mary! One other thought: if this is Mary, why would a sinkess woman suffer birth pains? Either it is not Mary or Mary was not immaculately conceived - in either case, the Catholic Church is teaching falsely. But if the "woman" claiming to be Mary to Kathryn Anne Clarke misidentified herself to her, can she be Mary? Or was Kathryn Anne Clarke deceived or is she deceiving us? Avoid this "lay apostle"!
Me sentí muy muy identificada con ella, con sus peleas internas y como Jesús la habla y la guia hacia la santidad. ES REALMENTE ESPECTACULAR. De mis libros favoritos
Love, love, love Anne's ministry and the word of our Lord, Jesus Christ, his Mother Mary, and the saints who share their thoughts and blessings through her. Can hardly wait to read her other books!!!
