For Emmy, it’s New York or nowhere. Ring, Ring! Nowhere is calling. And her high-school sweetheart is on the other end of the line.
New York actor Emmy Austen always believed a starring role on Broadway was the secret to love and happiness. Sure, she missed a few things back home for work (like her brother’s wedding–ouch), but the sacrifice was worth it.
Everything was going to plan…until the musical she spent a decade creating transferred to Broadway without her.
Still reeling, she's asked to direct a children’s production of Peter Pan in her hometown, Valentine Falls. To save the local theater, she says yes.
Nothing could be worse than getting fired from her own show…except having to collaborate with her first love, Boone Price, the guy who shattered her heart in high school.
He’s back in town, working at his family’s hardware store and building stunning sets for the play. Fantastic.
One stupid remark in a high school hallway has haunted Boone for years. He'll never forget that moment or the girl he lost because of it. Now a single dad, Boone’s top priority is protecting his daughter Maisy. He can’t let her grow too close to Emmy, whose time in Valentine Falls has a hard expiration date.
If he’s smart, he’ll keep his distance, too.
But when a mysterious vandal threatens the show, Emmy is forced to team up with Boone. She might be an actor, but her feelings for him are very real.
The healing waters of Valentine Falls bubble over with second chances. But is her Broadway dream too big to surrender?
Falling for My Showmance is a swoon-worthy, second chance romance connected to the Valentine Falls series. Come for the protective single-dad, “It’s always been you,” musical theater vibes and stay for sizzling chemistry and witty rom-com banter with only kisses on the page.

What a wonderful romance! I absolutely loved that it centered around theater. My oldest is all about theater and talks about it nonstop, so hearing all the familiar lingo and following characters who love theater and Broadway just as much was such a joy.
In this story, we meet Emmy, who believes she’s moments away from her big Broadway break, until the show she created casts someone else. Disappointed, she heads back home and is asked to help direct a hometown production. It’s not at all what she had planned, but it will have to do. What she didn’t expect? Boone...her past love who broke her heart, along with vandalism and some creepy happenings at the theater that make things very interesting.
Emmy needs to pull off this performance, try not to fall in love with Boone all over again, and unravel who (or what) is plaguing the theater. She only plans to be in town temporarily…but can the town change her plans?
The chemistry between Boone and Emmy was wonderful. I loved all the theater details, and while I didn’t expect the mystery elements at the theater, they were fun to try to figure out. And the kisses…um, Wendy can REALLY write swoony moments! This was such a sweet, wonderful read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, and this review reflects my honest opinion.

And also there is a ghost lurking around the theatre that is sabotaging the props and outfits? Will they able to work together to save the theatre and the Peter Pan musical?
Review: Love the theatre vibes and also love the feeling of being on the theatre. Ever since young I wanted to be in a musical but always felt like I’m not good enough. But it didn’t stop Emmy from pursuing her dream however because of betrayal she went back to hometown and landed a job as a director of a children’s musical Peter Pan.
Though she doesn’t really know how to be a director, she tried her best to find out everything about directing and also with the help of her theatre teacher who is always there with advice and also with the help of her high school crush with the props and music. They worked together and help save the theatre.
He is a single dad and they have a history of doing theatre together and because of something happened she was hurt by him. They didn’t get along at first but as they get to know each other, they opened up to each other and also showed their vulnerable self to each other. Love the moments with his daughter, Maisy and also him being overprotective of her. And Emmy adored Maisy so much and Maisy like her too.
There are twist and turns that wanted to sabotage the musical of the props and also outfits for the play and also a ghost in the theatre? Can’t spoil too much of the story. You will have to read to find out.
P.S Wish I could be in the musical too. Hehe…
QOTD: If you want to act in a musical which musical would you want to be in?
For me? My dream role was Annie but I’m too old for it already so I guess Galinda from Wicked or Les Miserables as Eponine. Haha… and any Disney Princess role hahaha…
This the 2nd book of Valentine Falls Series. It is a multi-author series written by 3 amazing authors.
I was gifted complimentary ARC. All opinions are my own. Thank you, @wendyrichstetson_author for the ARC!
You can purchase this book on Amazon and it’s available on KU.
Emmy Austen—stage name Parker Austen—is back in her hometown of Valentine Falls, Oregon. She should have been rehearsing for the Broadway show that she and her best friend, J.P., had spent eight years writing and working on. But playing the lead was ripped away from her, and that damage was done by the same best friend she used to trust.
That’s kind of a theme for Emmy—she thinks she can trust a guy, then is devastated by him, usually in a public way. I know a little of how that feels; I was once in a community theater version of The Secret Garden, playing the dead wife and mother, Lily. And I got that pulled out from under me after only three shows. My parents never got to see me finally play a lead.
The experience did teach me something, and that something is that an empathic introvert may be a great actor, but it comes at a great cost of energy. It took me years to figure that out, though.
Emmy is also not happy that her nemesis, Boone, is going to be very much a part of this show, having done the renovations on this old theater, bringing it back to its glory. If you’ve read the previous book, Dangerously Falling, you’ll recognize the place.
Emmy erroneously thought she would be acting, only to find out from her brother Toby (who is also the mayor and the elementary school principal) that she’s the director. Another role ripped from her. And Boone is the technical director for the show, so she won’t be able to avoid him.
This may seem like an enemies to lovers story, but it’s really more lovers to lovers; Boone never hated Emmy. He’d been in love with her for years, but some dumb choices he made broke them apart. Now he has a ten-year-old daughter, Maisy, and he’s working himself to exhaustion to not only work at his hardware store, but also doing tech for the play, and helping with everything else.
These two will get their HEA, but it’s a rocky road strewn with mysterious sabotage that keeps happening to props, set pieces, and the movie screen that really needs replacing anyway. I truly loved this story, even though it brought up some hard memories for me, because that is absolutely my stuff and this author has crafted a sweet and great romance with two people who were destined to be together. If you enjoy stories that have a little bit of everything, you’ll love this book.
Falling for my Showmance is the second of three books in the multiauthor series Valentine Falls.
This is a sweet and clean second chance romance between Boone, a single dad, and Emmy, a theatre actress who is back in her small home town to help her brother put a children’s theater play together.
My favorite character was probably Maisy, Boone’s adorable daughter and I loved how protective Boone was of her. He is a wonderful dad and a great character. Emmy was a bit less relatable to me, but I liked her the more we got to know her throughout the book.
While I thought the romance to be really cute and they definitely had chemistry, there was something strange about the backstory of their romance. Like I went back several times to check if I missed something, I just wasn’t convinced they were this deeply in love. But I enjoyed what was going on behind the scenes of the theater play. There’s a mystery subplot to the story with some sort of ghost element. It was fun, but I wasn’t as invested as I could have been. I honestly have already forgotten what the solution to the mystery turned out to be…
What is missing a bit for me in this series as a whole is the connection between the books. It’s the Valentine Falls of course, but there are no character crossovers (if I haven’t missed them), the stories are quite different and even the Falls themselves seem to be different or play a different role (it’s only really part of the story in book 3 I would say). So I don’t really know what connects these books other than the wonderful covers (I love the blue - turquoise color scheme) and the odd mention of the Falls and their magic. This might be a petty complaint and I didn’t let it influence my ratings, but I personally do prefer if multiauthor series are connected through something - a common theme, recurring characters or in this case if the Valentine Falls would have been of equal importance in all three books.
* Thank you to the author for letting me read an advanced copy of this book. I leave this review voluntarily and the expressed opinions are my own.
May contain possible spoilers though I tried to stay as spoiler free as possible‼️

A must read if you like: 💞Dual POV 🎸Single Dad 🎭Theatre Actress 💞Second Chance love 🎶Musical romance 👻theatre ghost 🏘️Small town romance 🔥Slow Burn 🤝🏻Forgiveness
Falling For My Showmance is the second book in the Valentine Falls multi-author series! It is a heartwarming love story that captures the essence of small-town charm. It features a slow burn, redemption, forgiveness, and the possibility of a family. The story also offers a fresh start and the chance to find happiness with the one who got away!
It is an immersive read that delves into the world of theater and incorporating theatrical language. Wendy R. Stetson does a wonderful job making the reader feel like an integral part of the story and gaining a deeper understanding of the characters.
When NYC Broadway actress, Emmy Austen, returns to her hometown she is surprised to find it isn’t for her to act but to direct the small-town play. She is hesitant but says yes in order to try to save the theater. 🎭 When she returns she wants to avoid her high school crush but little did she know that fate had other plans for her or that it would be her second chance with Boone Price, her high school crush. It is only a matter of time that their love would begin to blossom.
Boone Price is a single dad whose top priority is protecting his daughter. He swore of music and theater. When his daughter, Maisy wants to audition for the play he is hesitant. He doesn’t want Maisy or himself getting too close to Emmy. But Boone and Emmy must team together to find out who is the mystery vandal that is sabotaging the theater’s chance that being funded and to save the show.
Thank you so much Wendy R. Stetson for the opportunity to read this early. I loved this and I cannot wait to read more of your books.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I was not expecting, from the title, that the book would be a mystery with ghostly elements. These are just subplots; the main plot is the romance between Emmy Austen and Boone Price.
Emmy finds herself back home in Valentine Falls, Oregon, after being cast aside from a Broadway show she helped create. Expecting to be cast in the play, Peter Pan, she is shocked to be told by the mayor of the town, who also happens to be her brother, Toby, that she will be the director of a cast of children.
Emmy is not happy. She has not worked with children since her college days, and worse, she doesn’t know if she likes children. Emmy is completely bewildered on her first day as director, especially when Boone, her brother’s friend and a guy she had feelings for back in high school, appears with his shy ten-year-old daughter, Maisy, in tow.
Not having seen one another in ten years, it is an awkward reunion. I feel sorry for Emmy as the universe seems to dislike her when she learns that Boone is also the contractor working on the renovations of the Opera house, where the play will be performed. I was so giddy that they would be working in proximity.
The story intensifies when props from the show start disappearing or become horribly mutilated. With speculation that a group of teenagers or a ghostly figure of a woman is responsible, Emmy and Boone spend the night staking out the building. They talk and become close once again before they succumb to sleep. Upon waking, they find the baby monitor on the wall is now pointed at them, and a threatening message is displayed across the screen.
I love the spooky undertone of this story. It captivates and keeps you attentive. The cast of characters also keeps you transfixed, and you become invested in them. I was certainly absorbed with the outcome of Emmy and Boone. Can their showmance survive?
Falling for My Showmance is the second book in the Valentine Falls series, and I couldn’t put it down.
This book can be read as a standalone, but is part of the Valentine Falls series and I would recommend reading the full series!
This second chance, slow burn romcom will have you feeling all the feels until the last page. I loved the chemistry between Emmy and Boone and enjoyed their journey of learning how to overcome past hurts, forgive, and trust not only themselves but each other. Their journey also allowed to them to find what they wanted most and adjust their dreams. This story also includes a touch of a mystery that finds Emmy and Boone spending a night in the Theater - snacks included - trying to solve the mystery but of course ends with heightened feelings.
This is my first read by Wendy Rich Stetson and I am looking forward to reading more of her work. She does an amazing job of building her story which has you quickly endeared to the characters and struggling to put the story down.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Quotes: "Don't worry. I got you."
"I guess success takes more than faith, trust, and pixie dust, huh? ... Maybe we don't get to pick our story, maybe the story picks us."
"We don't all get to chase our dreams."
"Showmances are easy. Loving someone for real is a whole lot harder. Turns out love is a lot like the theater. It's terrifying and wonderful at the same time."
"Dreams Change."
"I actually don't think I want it all. I want parts. I want to do the thing I love some of the time and have a soft place to land when the curtain falls. I don't want to be love by the world. Just by one very special man."
When I was offered an early copy of Falling for my Showmance by Wendy Rich Stetson, I didn’t hesitate. I’d previously enjoyed her Amish romance trilogy, so this sweet small-town rom-com, complete with a single dad, a theater ghost, and mystery vibes, was impossible to resist.
Emmy Austen is a rising Broadway actress whose New York dreams unravel when her best friend and creative partner stages their co-written play without her. Feeling betrayed and lost, she accepts her brother’s invitation to their small hometown to help save the struggling local theater with a children’s production of Peter Pan. What she doesn’t realize, at least at first, is that he expects her to direct it.
What begins as a reluctant homecoming reconnects her with Boone, her high school crush who once broke her heart, reviving old feelings and unanswered questions. Boone, a devoted single dad and all-around sweetheart, comes with a smart and sassy daughter, Maisy, whom Emmy instantly loves. From the start, the chemistry between Emmy and Boone is undeniable, and as the relationship unfolds and Emmy finally gets her shot at playing her beloved Emily Dickinson, she realizes that "dreams can change".
At the heart of the story's strength is the theater setting. From auditions to rehearsals, the scenes feel vivid and authentic, capturing both the chaos and the magic of live performance. The enduring influence of Emmy’s beloved high school teacher Flory adds emotional depth, tying past and present together perfectly.
This charming romance novel is part of a multi-authored series, and I look forward to reading more about Valentine Falls!
I absolutely loved Falling for My Showmance by Wendy Rich Stetson. This book has all the small-town, theatre-kid, single-dad magic you could want—and somehow still manages to feel fresh and heartfelt.
Emmy returning to her hometown to help put together a production with a group of kids is such a delightful premise. There’s something so special about watching her step back into a place filled with history, emotion, and unfinished threads. The theatre setting adds such a vibrant, creative energy to the story—and I adored the behind-the-scenes chaos and charm of putting on a show.
And Boone? Swoon. A single dad hero with a tender heart will get me every time, and he absolutely delivers. He’s steady, caring, and completely adorable—especially in the way he shows up for both his child and Emmy. The chemistry between them feels natural and layered, full of sweet tension and heartfelt moments.
I also loved the subtle thread of mystery surrounding the theatre. It adds just enough intrigue to keep the pages turning without overshadowing the romance. Speaking of page-turning—this one truly is a real page-turner. I flew through it because I didn’t want to leave these characters or this town.
If you love small-town romance, theatre vibes, single dads, and swoony moments with real emotional depth, this one needs to be on your list.
I had the absolute privilege of reading this as an ARC, and I feel so lucky because this book was such a fun read. If you’re looking for a swoony, closed-door mystery with a second-chance small-town romance, this one is for you.
I loved the mystery element woven throughout the story. I was constantly trying to figure out who the culprit was, what all the strange things happening at the theater meant, and how it would all come together. It was so engaging to unravel the mystery while also watching the FMC and MMC slowly repair their relationship.
The MMC was incredibly swoony — just a steady, positive, genuinely good guy. His relationship with his daughter was the sweetest thing, and seeing how fiercely he loves and protects her (and gradually the FMC too) made me melt. He’s the kind of hero who shows up consistently, and that quiet devotion was everything.
I also really appreciated the FMC’s journey. Watching her wrestle with her failures, her successes, and what she truly wanted for her future made her feel so real. Her growth throughout the story was thoughtful and relatable.
The ending felt believable and satisfying, and I loved the way the author wrapped everything up. Overall, this was such a cute, heartfelt read with just enough mystery to keep you guessing. I’d highly recommend it!
There’s a special kind of magic when you open a book by an author you’ve never read before and suddenly realize—you’re already in the story. No warm-up pages. No slow easing in. Just immersion from the very first paragraph.
That was my experience with Falling for My Showmance.
Emmy Austen returns to Valentine Falls carrying the sting of a Broadway dream that slipped through her fingers, only to find herself working alongside the one person she never quite got over—her high school sweetheart, Boone Price. From the moment these two share the page, the chemistry is undeniable, layered with history, regret, and the unmistakable feeling that some loves never really fade.
Boone absolutely stole my heart. His quiet devotion, the way he protects and adores his daughter Maisy, and that unmistakable “it’s always been you” energy? Swoon-worthy in the very best way.
Set against the charming backdrop of community theater, small-town history, and the gentle promise of second chances, this story delivers exactly what a great romance should: heart, humor, and the kind of emotional pull that keeps you turning pages long after you meant to stop.
This was my first book by this author, but it definitely won’t be my last. I’m already looking forward to going back and reading more of her stories.
This is book 2 in the Valentine Falls series, for which I am on the ARC team. We meet Emmy, she has been working hard in various shows for the last decade, maybe to the detriment of her family and friends. The show she helped write is about to hit Broadway, unfortunately she will not be in it. With no other place to go, she answers her brothers call to come home and help save the local theatre. What she didn’t realise is that she will be directing the show, which is a children’s production of Peter Pan. As she gets to grips with the production, rehearsals and working with children she learns much about herself and what she wants in life. Boon Price will so anything to protect his daughter Maisie but when she wants to be in the Peter Pan production he reluctantly agrees. As he is also the technical man he can keep an eye on Maisie and the rehearsals. But can he and Emmy keep their hearts? A wonderful story full of joy, growth and some mystery. I loved the characters, Emmy really blossomed in her new role. Maisie stole the show with her quiet ways but deep personality. I enjoyed the romance between Emmy and Boon, also their caring for Flory (their former High School teacher). A great 2nd book in the series.
Wendy Rich Stetson has been a favorite author of mine for Amish romance but now that she has written a contemporary story I have to say she is just a favorite author overall. Her writing is intelligent and incorporates so many wonderful details about place and activity that are completely authentic. Falling For My Showmance is full of theater language and practice as well as history. It makes a reader feel truly part of the experience and like they understand the character.
There was so much charm to this story. Big city girl goes home to direct small town play. Second chance romance with a high school crush. The magical Valentine's Falls, and a haunted opera house. All set against the backdrop of a children's theater production and a simple, sweet romance.
Things I found particularly endearing... "This is a stakeout, not a date" lol The high school drama teacher - who didn't love their high school drama teacher! References to "Friends" What if Broadway isn't the only place theater matters? Theater makers are ruthless A traditional pre-show meal and a lucky pendant
Like I said - FULL of wonderful details and small town charm. Great job to the author on a contemporary release. Loved it and looking forward to whatever you do next!
Emmy was a star theater buff in high school in Valentine Falls. Even her teacher knew she was going straight to the top.
Boone never expected to see her again after what she heard him say about her to his buddies. Her regretted it as soon as he said it, because the truth was, he loved Emmy.
When Emmy unexpectedly makes a fall from the grace of Broadway, she returns home to Valentine Falls to help her brother, who also happens to be the mayor, save the town's historical opera house. Boone, who never thought he would see her again, must now work more closely than he anticipated as the Technical Director of a kids' theater production that Emmy has been tapped to direct, armed with her credits as a New York star and a solid amount of sass.
In order to protect his heart, and that of his daughter, Boone just has to get through the month. But working on a show in a haunted opera house brings about new challenges and memories of what his life is missing.
This was such a good read, being the 2nd installment of the Valentine Falls Trilogy. Slow-burn, ghosts and Emily Dickinson. What's not to love?
Do you enjoy second-chance romance with humor, heart, and a touch of suspense? Falling for My Showmance delivers all of that and more. Emmy Austen left Valentine Falls for Broadway and finds herself back in town directing a children’s theater production of Peter Pan. Emmy is reunited with Boone Price who broke her heart in high school. Fast forward to the present, Boone is positively swoon-worthy and is an amazing girl dad. The story takes an intriguing turn when the newly renovated theater—restored thanks to an anonymous benefactor—is vandalized. Saving the theater and the necessity of protecting Emmy creates forced proximity between Emmy and Boone. The blend of romance, mystery, and small-town charm kept me fully engaged. The characters were well-developed and easy to connect with due to the dual point of view, and the storyline flowed effortlessly. Falling for My Showmance is a heartfelt, witty second-chance romcom that I highly recommend.
I received an ARC copy for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
This is a super cute, easy read with a guaranteed HEA – a theme my 2026 reading track record continues to celebrate. Emmy is delightful: painfully aware of her own weaknesses yet fiercely determined to help the children put on the best performance possible. Boone’s lingering high school goofiness now wrapped in single-dad charm makes for some adorable forced-proximity sparks… yes, there are almost piano kisses and genuinely swoon-worthy moments.
The mystery thread added a lovely extra layer, and the resolution left me feeling all warm inside. The book nails that feeling of changing dreams but still embracing life to the fullest. Maisy and the other children are fantastic, the theatre vibes are perfectly immersive, and the chemistry between Emmy and Boone keeps the pages turning.
Overall, a charming, heartwarming romp through theatre, second chances, and cute, chaotic family life.
Thank you Wendy Rich Stetson for providing this ARC of Falling for my Showmance in exchange for my review.
The theater, the magical falls, the second chance romance, the little actors, the ghost, every single thing about this novel was perfect!
Let's start with Boone and Emmy. I absolutely loved their history. The jock and the theater geek falling in love during high school can never not be a great story. And then to say that that same jock is still in love with her 15 years later?! Sign. Me. Up!
Watching their relationship grow as adults though was so sweet! I loved watching them reconnect, find forgiveness and fall in love for real this time. Throw in Maisy, the kids at the theater, and finding their dreams together?! Cue the chef's kiss and my happy sighs!
I also loved getting to read another theater romance. There is just something magical about theater that sucks you in! Adding that to a romance and the magic just happens! All of the theater rehearsals, the ghosts and legends, and the mysterious benefactor were wonderful additions to a charming story!
Emmy and Boone’s story was interesting, and I struggled to review, because while I enjoyed it, I didn’t really connect with the characters…
Emmy, reeling from her best friend’s betrayal (he removed her from her key role in the broadway show she helped write!), returned to town, licking her wounds… She’s tricked into directing a children’s play inorder to save the theatre, and she’s thrown into the path of her brother’s friend, and her would-be crush from high school. He’s a single dad, kind of regrets how he acted, but has a major issue with people in show business…. go figure…
Now, I got through it, and while I did enjoy it, the story struggled to fully capture my attention, or hold my interest completely. The start felt like I was missing information, or walked in mid-scene. Perhaps it’s that the drip feed of their history took a little too long to be revealed. On a final note, the friend should have had some comeuppance (or at least a confrontation).
This book was so refreshing, entertaining, and heartwhelming. The story of Boone & Emmy started back when they wer barely teenagers. He is the jock secretly in love with the theather geek girl, until immaturity causes him to humiliate her and his chance at having her. Well, fast forward years and you find Emmy chasing her theater dream only to lose it and having to return to Valentine Falls to start over (in a way), and Boone now a single father trying to keep his job, his sanity, and his daughter. She is entrusted with a child theatre production in her home town where Boone is the stage help, and his daughter is part of the play. What started years ago is once again blooming amidst intrigue, a theater production, and a sweet little girl who sees a star in Emmy.
A great love story filled with small town charm, a delicious slow burn, redemption, forgiveness, a chance of a family, a fresh start, and the chance to find happiness with the love of your life, the one who got away!
I really enjoyed this book. A no spice, slow burn romance with a touch of mystery. Our MMC, Boone, had fallen years ago but had let her go. Our FMC, Emmy, had been deeply in love with Boone but left town broken hearted.
Wendy has given us two fully rounded characters who have lived their lives apart for years but as soon as they are back in each others orbits, they realise that old emotions don't just dissappear.
The writing flows wonderfully and you are fully immersed in their world. Getting to watch as they find their way to each other is amazing. All of the side characters come to life as well and the description of the opera house makes you feel like you are truly there.
Although this, for me, is a short read, it doesn't feel rushed as we get the back story of these two early on and it gives a realistic pace to the story and their romance. A solid 4 stars from me.
Falling for My Showmace boasts a cast of characters which will steal your heart. Emmy, with her rich backstory and fearless gumption, is a heroine you can’t help but root for. And Boone, a sexy single dad with a tender heart, is as swoony as they come. Add in Flores, the delightfully eccentric high school drama teacher, and Maisy, a shy child bravely stepping into her own, and you’ve got a lineup that truly shines.
Set against the backdrop of a small-town opera house in need of saving—complete with a resident ghost—the story weaves together a children’s play, theatrical hijinks, and just enough chaos to threaten opening night. The result is a heartfelt, romantic tale brimming with humor, warmth, and community spirit. If you’re in the mood for a swoony, feel-good romance that leaves you believing that things are just a little more right in the world, then raise the curtain on Falling for my Showmace. You won’t be disappointed.
I adore coming home love stories and when you add a feisty actress, protective single dad, second chances, sweet small towns, and a touch of mystery (maybe even a haunted theater) with swoon-worthy moments and yearning—count me in.
When Emmy Austen returns home after losing the play she helped co-create to help her town’s floundering theater, she has to face her past, including the boy who shattered her heart in high school. But finding out she’ll have to collaborate with Boone Price, is something she didn’t agree to. Still, teaching his sweet daughter and the cute kiddos, Peter Pan, is a big yes!
I loved the sweet moments with Boone and his daughter as well as the slow burn between Emmy and Boone paired with forgiveness and healing. If you love sweet, second chance romances with cozy vibes and theater fun thrown in, too, grab your copy today!
“It’s you for me, Emmy. It’s always, always been you.” ❣️
ARC Review: Emmy and Boone. Slow burn. Friends to enemies to lovers. Single dad. Small town. Need I say more?! It’s every perfect trope in one. Emmy, New York stage actress, is back in her hometown of Valentine Falls after her dreams have seemed to crumble around her. When she’s asked by the mayor to help get the funding needed for the town theater she agrees but it’s not what she’s expecting. Boone, the small town handyman and single dad, who’s been repairing the theater is a blast from her past. When his daughter is a part of the plan for theater funding, it brings them back together. Can they survive production, ghosts, mysterious theater sabotage, and each other? Can the magic of the Falls heal their past, insecurities, and align their futures? Book 2 in the multi-author series will steal your heart ♥️
A talented off-Broadway actress, Emmy, challenged to take on a role she has no experience of, is surrounded by a group of diverse and rambunctious children in an allegedly haunted theatre, and must now also face her high-school nemesis, Boone, ‘helicopter’ parent of Maisy, a shy fae-like child. The author weaves a story blending reality with fantasy, using the magical properties of the Valentine Falls water, retired high school teacher, Miss Flory, the mysterious appearance of a seemingly homeless man, and strange occurrences in the theatre, all to keep the reader wondering whether Emmy will successfully meet the Art Council’s standards. But Emmy’s story does not end on Opening Night… This enchanting and entertaining book will appeal to readers who enjoy the unique personalities and shenanigans of children. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Emmie Austin—better known to her fans as Parker Austin—finds herself ousted from the very play she helped write. Seeking refuge from the wreckage of her Broadway dreams, she retreats to her hometown, taking on a children’s community theater production as a favor to her brother, the mayor. Between a series of unexplained mishaps that have everyone whispering about ghosts and sabotage, Emmie is fighting to keep the play on track. To make matters more complicated, she’s reunited with Boone Price, her high school "showmance" heartthrob and the father of one of her cast members. As the chemistry between them reignites and her affection for the children grows, Emmie must decide if wants to return to New York or stay home with the man she loves. I loved the characters, the hometown, the romance…a totally enjoyable read!
An enjoyable story about an actress who returns home, thinking she is starring in an adaptation of Peter Pan when she is actually directing a children's version in order to save the Opera House. Emmy was recently replaced by her best friend in a Broadway production that she cowrote with him, leaving her devastated and vulnerable.
This book is about her struggles to learn who she is, her value, and working with the boy who broke her heart in high school.
Because this book is about a theater production, the story is heavily dosed in theatrical themes and Emmy's view of the world is shaped by this (a bit dramatic at times).
Maisey steals her scenes, and Boone knows the mistakes he made and has regrets. The flashbacks explain a lot, and add color to the story.
I finished this book with a huge smile on my face. It was more moving than I expected, and I loved it. Falling for my Showmance is part of the Valentine Falls series and was my introduction to Wendy Rich Stetson. I'm so glad that I had the privilege of being on the ARC team.
On the surface, this is a second chance romance with forced proximity, yearning, emotional connection between hurting hearts, and a therapeutic waterfall. On a deeper level, this book deals with moving past disappointment, heartbreak, and fear while learning to pivot with optimism. Emmy, Boone, and Maisy were lovable. The kids in the production were fun, and I enjoyed all the theatre vibes. It was perfect.
There's something truly special about the Valentine Falls series by Wendy Rich Stetson, Sophie Toovey, and Melinda R. Morgan. Each story touched a part of me that has been healing from longstanding grief. I appreciated the vulnerability of the characters and felt comforted and uplifted in various ways. I wish I could go to Valentine Falls in real life.
Thanks to Wendy for writing this wonderful story and sharing the ARC with me.
A feel good novella that I read in less than 10 hours! It’s the sweetest friends to lovers, 2nd chance romance I’ve read in a while. Emmy and Boone’s relationship is so much fun to witness and Boone’s daughter, Maisy, makes you love Boone even more than you already do. He’s the best single Dad MMC! This is the best book for Hallmark fans!

I received an ARC of this book. The review and opinions are my own.
I feel like the curtain was pulled back and I got a glimpse of the inner workings of theater in so many aspects! Emmy’s sudden shift in work and where she lives is a reminder there are always sudden jerks in a life journey. The additional shifts compliments of her brother is a big bonus. A rewrite of the play, “Peter Pan” by the children who will be acting was a delight and testament to one willing to see the world through their eyes. And so many twists and turns and mysterious happenings, oh my. Is it New York or nowhere or New York or now here?
This book is part of the Heartlight Falls series, book number 2. They are each stand alone stories but I highly recommend all 3 of them.
Theatre is the center of this second chance romance. Emmy and Boone are just the best. I love their banter. Boone is a major swoon, protective single dad and still wants Emmy after all this time. They both try to avoid their feelings but the theatre intervenes them to work together and it is great. Boone’s daughter Maisy is a delight!! There is mystery, romance, and lots of feelings and emotions. It was a great read!
