I love a strong heroine, especially when she is out for revenge. This book was short, but action packed. There was never a dull moment. I really liked the writing style too. Another plus is that it was available as a kindleunlimited. I will definitely be checking out more of this writers work in the future.

Didn't care to finish it

Spoilers: I hoped this story would contain a smart, well executed revenge plot. From the beginning the girl looses control of the situation and the bad guy continues to rack up kills while perfectly capable sit by and watch. I cringed at the use of LOL and ROTFL by a character who is supposed to be a well practiced serial killer. The idea has great potential, but the story and execution were terrible.

Great action thriller

This is a great action thriller. The action starts immediately, and does not let up until the end! Did I mention the absolute badass female lead character?
I look forward to the next book: Saint/Sinner

"Ten years of research, six years of training, and three years of getting ready for this moment."

What an intense and engaging thrill-ride. I absolutely loved "Hunter/Prey." I was hooked from the very first page. So much so, I ended up reading it in one sitting. So intriguing, it's full of action and suspense with a few twists and turns thrown in. It's hard to believe that everything takes place within twelve hours.

Reading the synopsis, I thought the story was going to be written the way so many other novels are, going back and forth between the past and present. Nope, I was wrong, and I'm so glad I was. Kudos to the author for deviating from this style of story-telling. Instead, it's told from two points of view: Allie, the Hunter, and Beckard, the Prey, with the story moving forward, full speed ahead. I loved Allie, a strong and brave heroine that never gave up no matter how bad things got. I found myself cheering for her throughout. And Beckard, such a vile and heinous serial killer, I was completely engrossed reading everything from his perspective. I have to say I enjoyed reading his off-the-cuff witty remarks. In my book, this made the story even more enticing.

"Hunter/"Prey," is a well-written novel I highly recommend. Definitely worth the five-star rating I gave as it surpassed my expectations. Next up, "Saint/Sinner," the second novel in the "Allie Krycek" series, which I've already purchased. Here's hoping it's just as good as the first.

I don't guess I've ever read something that was so intimately inside the mind of a serial killer. Intriguing and chilling, and done with a masterful hand that made you really believe him.

The pacing was a little scattered, and the plot had a few small holes, but the characters more than made up for it. The writing style was usually fair, but there were one or two sentences that jump off the page. I'm a bit of a snob about writing style, and I was impressed. This author is worth watching out for.

Very Exciting!

Loved how this book started! Ok, at first I thought it would go a predictable way, but it didn't and I'm glad. I don't do spoilers and I don't recap. Let's just say it is 12:40am and I started the book earlier today. It wasn't long, it's just that I do have SOME commitments in my life that seem to drag me away from my books. Anyhoo, it kept me on the edge the entire time. If you like suspense/thriller, this is for you. No romance, tho. Maybe in the next book? I'll let you know.

Having read Sisavath's Purge of Babylon series, I was expecting a lot more from this series. Riveting scenes and complex characters, at very the least. While this is a decent series, it didn't come close to meeting expectations. I didn't fall in love with the characters (as I did with Purge), and something just didn't click about the story. Also I wasn't too impressed with the premise of the story - it just didn't ring true.

Sam is such a master of suspense. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Not a book to read if you're trying to fall asleep. Can't wait for this one to be the first of a SERIES!

A cruel and cunning psychopathic rapist-killer, almost as evil as Hannibal Lecter, on the loose for 10 years, vs. a whip-smart, tough, and resolute vigilante who has planned and trained for that same 10 years with the sole goal of exacting revenge. They are equally matched. The first paragraph includes, “He was going to kill her, there was no doubt about that. The question was: Who wanted to kill the other more.” is a grabber of an opening. What follows is a bullet train of a plot, with more zigs and zags than the Tatsu roller coaster. The two gripping characters propel the story with focused inner thoughts and daring actions. More violence, mayhem, blood, gore, cruelty, and sadism than you may be able to handle. But then, you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t already love gory murderous thrillers.

Fasten your seat belts, and make sure you haven’t eaten in awhile. This one will keep you up until it’s over, and then won’t let you get to sleep. A humdinger of a chilling thriller. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Hunter/Prey was a serviceable way to pass the time, but ultimately, it left me underwhelmed. While the premise had promise, the execution fell flat in several areas. Some of the tropes felt dated and cringe-worthy, making it hard to take certain moments seriously. Additionally, the repetitive use of certain phrases became distracting and took me out of the story.

The ending was especially disappointing, wrapping up so neatly it felt almost contrived—everything tied with a bow, leaving little room for surprise or nuance. It’s not without its moments of entertainment, but overall, it’s a story that didn’t quite rise to its potential. If you’re looking for something light and easy to get through, it might work, but don’t expect it to break new ground.

I held back on a star because the initial action at about the first quarter of the story was monotonus (i.e.: he did this, then she did that, then he did this, then she did that). Nonstop action to that extensive of a length is a "no-no."

When you read this book skim through until the killer gets to the RV camp, then read a little slower. Then read at a normal pace when Ally gets to the police station. I figured out this method to enjoy the book.

I really like this book, actually. Believable characters. Simple motives. Great themes. Clear writing. That first leg nearly drove me away though. Happy reading.

I gave this book a five star. I loved this book from the get-go. It was a great book and well written.
Beckard was a serial killer and Allie was out for revenge. He had killed her sister, and she planned to kill him.
I read this book in a day, in between my work. Just didn't want to put it down.
I hope you like blood and gore, because there is a lot of it in this book. I could see these things happening in my mind as I read this story.
Great writing and a super good book.
Not going to say anything about the ending, because it was such a great one. I wouldn't ruin this book for any one, It was just that GOOD.

a story with a different perspective

I waffled between three and four stars, then opted for three as the cliches pushed through. Just when some situation seemed dire…a new development occurred. Fortuitously for the heroine. Now that didn’t ruin the story but happened often enough to taint it. Hence, three stars. Debating whether to move on to the sequel.

⭐️ - awful, probably DNF

⭐️⭐️- didn’t like but not terrible, actually finished it

⭐️⭐️⭐️ - it was ok, passed the time

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - good story, good writing, entertaining, just not great

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - great, could not put it down, excellent writing and story

Another strong finisher for Sisavath. Lots of action, but not concentrating on the gore, though there was lots. If there's anything seriously wrong with this story, it's only that it's too short. I enjoyed the strong heroine and how the author moved from one character's mind into the other so we always knew what each was thinking. This tactic doesn't always work, because there is a risk of disconnecting the reader. But Sisavath pulled it off with finesse. Clean editing, well plotted, lots of action, and enough twists to keep you wanting to reach the end, which like I said, comes too quickly.

this story was a super good read. jusst as you think it is over, bingo it takes off again in the direction you subconsciously want it to go. the arthur has very nicely left the door open for a sequel. I hope book two is as good. I really enjoyed this book. carmen can rest in peace. I felt sorry for apollo, but maybe book two will remedy that fact. wade followed his promise. and every thing worked out for the best. READ THIS ONE. mp

This book was recommended to me on Amazon based on other books that I had read. This was a great quick read that was fast paced and kept you on a roller coaster ride. Just as you thought you knew which direction the book was going to do, there was a twist and the action took a different direction. I was pleased that I took a chance to read a new author and will read more from Sam Sisavath in the future.

Wow. The premise of this book caught my attention and I was hooked from the first page. The main characters engage in an epic cat & mouse in the course on one night. Who has the upper hand changes at any given moment and I loved it. It kept me on the edge the whole time wondering what was going to happen next. It does have some fairly graphic violence but it didn't bother me. If you like a good cat & mouse story definitely read this one.

At first, I wasn't sure about this book. I have read ALL of Sam Sisavath's Road to Babylon series and loved them. And, now, I love this series!! This was an action-packed, sitting on the edge of my seat adventure. Allie Krycek is a strong, determined heroine. Sisavath does an incredible job of weaving this story and writing from the perspective of both the "hunter" and the "prey." Great read, and I cannot wait to read the next in the series.

I have never read anything by this author, but I loved his style. This fast paced, short action packed thriller, with a very strong heroine out for revenge...who could ask for more! It was predictable, then bam...it twisted in ways you never saw coming....a great read! I'm looking forward to the next two in the series!

This book was an action-packed quick read. Love the female heroine and the fact that the author made her a believable character (aka not bulletproof). I found the story interesting and enjoyed the style of writing. I'm not sold that this character can carry another book, but will probably still check out the next book in the series anyway.

A great concept, brilliantly executed. With limited backstory and non-stop action, Sisavath tells the story of Allie Krycek, who for the last 10 years has been planning her revenge on the killer who murdered her sister. But who is the hunter and who is the prey? The twists and turns keep the story moving in an exciting, over-the-top cat and mouse chase that just never lets up.

Damn fun I can’t get enough of Allie Krycek!
This is what I want .... revenge .... a smart one, though. Allie held grudge against her sister’s killer and she came with a plan; a smart and well prepared plan. Things didn’t go as smooth as she planned but she was determine and I swear only idiot won’t cheering for her to win.

Got the SOB

This book was written in such a way that you could feel the frustrating helplessness that seem to be in each chapter.Good for Allie her bold and tenacious character who would not stop.Although you could feel the gore and blood you just couldn't stop reading.Enjoyed reading this book.

Wow! This was a page turner, read right through the night, I was hoping there would be a good ending to this, and I wasn't disappointed.

I marked it down slightly as there was a tremendous amount of violence in this book and I confess to skim reading some of those parts, am not a great fan of extreme violence.

I hope the dog has a nice life.

This book started off really well and I really liked the humour all the way through from the killer. It just seemed to almost be too short. The book finished in no time at all. This book does what it says on the tin.

Interesting

This is not my regular read. I found it a little bit more violent than I like. However, I kept reading because it held my interest in how it would end. I knew Allie would be victorious but again it had some twist and turns I never expected.

Good fast paced read

The story is well told and intriguing. Parts are a bit far fetched regarding the escapes made and the circumstances involved, however it is still a good read and I enjoyed it.
