Well worth the price of the audiobook
Sithe, Book 1
This ended up being a surprisingly memorable start to the Blades of Arris series. I expected another possessive alien warrior romance, but instead I found a story that focused just as much on duty, control, and freedom as it did on the romance itself. Sithe’s struggle against the machine-like structure of his own civilization was every bit as compelling as his relationship with Caterine.
Even with one scene that I genuinely did not enjoy, I finished the audiobook wanting to learn more about the Arrisan Empire and where these characters were headed next. If you enjoy alien romance but want something that breaks away from the usual formula of instant mates and predictable world building, Sithe is definitely worth checking out. The combination of an unusual setting, emotionally damaged but likable leads, and excellent narration made this a series opener that left me eager for the next installment.
Zai, Book 2
I ended up enjoying Zai even more than I expected because it balanced romance with genuine mystery and political intrigue. The relationship works because both characters actively make each other stronger. Esme helps uncover a conspiracy that threatens the empire while giving Zai someone he can finally trust, and Zai gives Esme a sense of purpose after she spent so long believing she had lost everything. The world building and character development is great, and I love that this series is more story than smut, though there are still some great spicy scenes. I am a big fan of the Arrisan words they use for things, especially the way they say jack and socket for some intimate body parts. While many alien romance books use similar words for things like a version of our curse word that also mean getting busy, but these are original to this series, and it made me laugh. The final stretch delivers several revelations in rapid succession, from the discovery of the poisoning to the escalating threat of weaponized lusteal, and it left me excited to continue the series. If you enjoy science fiction romance with layered world building, capable heroines, and emotionally reserved heroes who slowly learn how to love, this audiobook is absolutely worth picking up.
Ranse, Book 3
Overall, I enjoyed this audiobook. The combination of political tension, character growth, and a heroine who refuses to be underestimated made it easy to stay invested. Allie and Ranse have a dynamic that feels both volatile and deeply satisfying, especially as they push each other toward becoming something greater. I do wish the political arc had been given a little more space, but the character work and narration carried the story beautifully. If you like alien romance with sharp dialogue, high stakes, and a heroine who can outmaneuver an entire alien war council, this installment in the Blades of Arris series is absolutely worth the listen. I love that all the books in this series have very detailed plots, terrific world building and fantastic main characters.
Atana, Book 4
This ended up being one of my favorite books in the Blades of Arris series because neither Atana nor Lia felt like perfect heroes. They are both carrying emotional scars and watching them slowly find confidence in themselves made the romance much more rewarding. I especially appreciated that Lia’s healing was never portrayed as quick or easy. Every small victory felt meaningful because of everything she had survived. If you enjoy science fiction romance with layered world building, political intrigue, wounded characters, and a relationship built on mutual healing instead of instant perfection, I think this audiobook is well worth picking up. By the end, I found myself caring just as much about the larger Arrisan conflict as I did about Atana and Lia’s happily ever after, which is exactly what I want from a series like this.
Ukuri, Book 5
I’d call this a solid but imperfect entry in a series I still enjoy. If you’ve loved the earlier Blades of Arris books, the tonal whiplash with Ukuri’s character might bother you the way it bothered me, I kept waiting for an explanation that never fully landed. But if you’re coming to this one mostly for Noemi’s journey and for a slow burn built around trust rather than instant heat, there’s a lot to like. I teared up a little during one of her more vulnerable scenes in the lab, which surprised me, I didn’t expect this book to hit an emotional note that hard. The narration carries a lot of the weight when the writing gets shaky, and I’d still recommend it to anyone invested in the series, just don’t go in expecting the same Ukuri from the earlier books.
Falkion, Book 6
Overall, this audiobook felt like a satisfying blend of danger, intimacy, and character-driven tension. Falkion and Zeerah’s connection builds through specific choices and moments, not shortcuts, and that made me care about them more than I expected. The narration enhances the emotional beats, and while I wished for a bit more depth in Falkion’s internal struggle, the story still delivered a compelling arc that kept me listening straight through.
Erion book 7
I came away from Erion feeling like it was a fitting capstone to the Blades of Arris series. Instead of trying to outdo the larger books with nonstop action, it focuses on healing, second chances, and finding connection after unimaginable loss. The combination of Erion’s failed mission, Estelle’s decades of isolation, and the unexpected way a set of private annotations changes everything made this story memorable for me. I would have loved a slightly longer ending, but I finished the audiobook feeling satisfied and genuinely happy for these two characters. If you’ve enjoyed the world of Arris, this novella is a rewarding and emotional sendoff.

The entire series has the right amount of everything, well rounded characters, a fully fleshed out and well paced storyline, with a touch of spice that just sets it on fire ... but not too much spice you begin to wonder "where's the story?" I've already read every book in this series several times since I purchased it, each book flows into the next with a chapters worth of the next story as the ending of the one before, this is perfect if you buy the collection that includes every book in the series [instead of purchasing each book individually], the collection turns the entire series into an epic read. While it’s hard to choose a favorite book, because the entire series is really good, I have read each book in this series more than once. Highly Recommended 😉
On a Personal Note: I dislike the old Harlequin Romance stories of my youth, the ones with cookie-cutter plots, couples, and storylines that only swap the covers, character names, and general location, but everything else is basically the same thing from book to book, so finding Starla Night's The Lords of Atlantis Series, which led me to my new favorite the Blades of Arris Series was a welcome change. That's probably why I purchased the ebook & audible versions from Amazon and the Signed Hard Cover Collector's Edition from Starla's webstore.

I highly recommend this series and in fact I do so with my whole heart. I love this author's writing and the worlds and characters she crafts so skillfully. As a general rule you can trust that each new series she creates will be captivating, fresh, engaging and exciting. Every single series does not disappoint, so check them out because you are absolutely missing out if you have not yet. Now, as for The Blades of Arris series in particular, this collection gets you all 7 of the original books, the new novella, and two short stories, one of which is again brand new and it is an incredible treat and not to be missed out on by fans because it serves as a series epilogue. So, you get to check back in with all the main couples along with the many side characters that helped make these books so memorable. These gripping and very often gritty tales are lush with combinations of drama, action, romance, adventure, danger, twists, suspense, steam, emotion, humor, poignancy, emotions and feels. This complete collection is going to have you feeling all the emotions and once you start, I'd bet your going be inhaling this just as quick as you can.

This is a phenomenal series and some intense reading that really had me glued to my reader. Expect drama, emotions, danger, action, twists and steam to fully grab you and not let go until you hit the end. The characters were intriguing and I loved seeing how, together, they became so much more than they were initially. Well paced, these stories really had everything to keep me madly flipping pages and staying up waaay past my bedtime to get in 'just one more chapter'. Lol! Highly recommend this epic reading ride.

Magnificent
A completely engulfing and marvelously original world. I devoured the entire series in four days. All the characters are vivid and unique. The spice is diverse and character-based. The writing is elegant and endlessly surprising.
