Well, I don't believe in ghosts or an afterlife and I don't normally read horror suspense but I read this for the eye rolling entertainment. Actually, the "who done it" mystery in the story kept my interest.
Emily inherits an old Victorian mansion in the hills of Boulder, CO. Her and her husband, Jesse are broke and needed a new home so they move from Florida to CO to claim their inheritance from her dead aunt, Matilda. Once there they find out that her aunt had made the house a place for wayward children and her aunt and the children and helper disappeared 10 yrs ago and were never found. Speculations were they were murdered. Soon they realize the house is haunted by them.
Well....who murdered them and why do Emily and Jesse feel their life is in danger? What do the ghosts want?
The Haunting of Orphan Mansion was a pretty solid and enjoyable mystery with a creepy premise that kept me curious about what was really going on. It felt like the story could have wrapped up about halfway through, but it definitely redeemed itself with a strong and satisfying ending. There were a couple of small continuity moments that pulled me out of the story (like a character suddenly not having something they were just holding), but overall it was still a fun and intriguing read with plenty of suspense. A good pick if you enjoy haunted house mysteries with twists along the way - and we love those small town quirks!
Had my eye on Richard from beginning but never sure until the ending episodes. Kept me enthralled from start to finish. Loved all the descriptions that ❤️ I saw from my own eyes though the whole book. 5 star and 👏 congratulations
Ok, it's fluff: easy to read. Not confusing. But it's compelling! A story about one woman's love for homeless children. And one woman who cared only for herself. And... I liked it.
This was a book I couldn’t put down. I kept telling myself “just one more chapter” until I finished it at 3:30am! The author pulls you in and keeps pulling until you are totally invested in the story. I was scared while I read it but have to say I loved it.
