SOMETIMES ALL WE CAN DO IS HOPE FOR THE BEST
IT'S A RETURN TO the Garden Belles Mail-Order Bride agency, which was located in St. Louis, Missouri, and began in 1850 during the height of the westward wagon train exodus. They helped match men desperate for a wife and sought the help of sisters, Dahlia and Zinnia Williams. The sisters, both spinsters, are especially proud of three things in their lives: their garden, filled with every kind imaginable flower; their penchant for finding perfect wives for most suitable husbands; and, more importantly, the orphaned niece they raised from a baby.”
The matchmakers, Zinnia and Dahlia, receive letters, one from a potential bride, Sage Robinson, needing a quick arrangement due to dire circumstances, which led her and her lifelong caretaker, Mrs. Erics, to be without a home or employment. The second letter is from a mother, Mrs. Walker, seeking to help her son find a bride to help fulfill a legal matter. While Mr. Walker is shocked that his mother resorted to finding him a mail-order bride, he must admit that he has been remiss in planning for his future, knowing the terms of his late father’s Will.
The majority of the story is on the train to Sage and Mrs. Eric's new home, and it is their first time riding a train. The journey is approximately two days, according to the kind gentleman, Micah, who has offered to assist them, answering questions, since he is a frequent rider.
The story has secrets, a touch of chemistry, a bit of mystery, danger, and surprises. The train must stop for days in a town while repairs are made to the tracks. The railroad lodges and feeds all the passengers for the inconvenience. During the layover, Micah, Sage, and Mrs. Erics become better acquainted, sharing meals and even evening strolls in town. When the train resumes its journey to the planned destination, Sage and Mrs. Erics are apprehensive about the mysterious Mr. Walker, who is to be Sage’s groom. Will he allow Mrs. Erics to stay with Sage at her new home? What about the intended bride that Mrs. Walker has planned for her son? The fact that Sage and Micah have slowly developed feelings for one another leads to complications. Could they abandon prearranged plans? Or will they need to honor them?

Love Written by Faith and Destiny
This story is such a beautiful blend of romance, faith, and a little adventure tells the heartfelt story of Sage Robinson and Micah Walker that keeps you hooked from start to finish. Sage Robinson is in desparate straight as she faces a difficult situation that leads her to become a mail-order bride, traveling with her loyal caregiver, Mrs. Erics. Micah Walker is dealing with his own pressure to marry quickly, and when their paths cross on a train, there’s an instant sense of comfort and connection between them. I really loved how naturally their relationship grows, especially as they face an unexpected moment of danger that brings them closer together. Even though they both believe they’re meant to marry someone else, their feelings are hard to ignore, which adds just the right amount of tension to the story. The faith element is woven in so smoothly and serves as a reminder that God’s timing is always at work, even when things feel uncertain. Sage’s situation is heartbreaking from the start—left with nothing after her brother abandons her and her governess, she makes the difficult decision to become a mail-order bride simply to survive. I really appreciated her determination, especially her desire to care for the governess who had always been there for her.
Mitch’s storyline adds another layer, as he’s pushed into marriage by circumstances of his own. I enjoyed the way he travels incognito on his railroad, quietly observing and interacting with others without revealing who he is.

Sage didn’t want to be a mail order bride. She had no choice, though, as she was down to her last dollar. All she had was her lady’s maid and she wrote that she must be included in the deal.
Micah Walker had to find a wife, immediately, to receive his father’s railroad inheritance, and so his mother writes a letter to get a bride without her son’s consent. Sage and her maid (2nd mom, best friend), had never ridden a train before and were a little nervous. A nice young man is already seated and when he sees their nervousness, he invites them to sit opposite of him. He calms their nerves and answers all of their questions. Sage and Micah felt very drawn to each other immediately! Both wish they were not tied down to another due to the mail order bride letters. Could they figure out a way to explain how they feel to each other and to their betrothed? Oh, you’re going to leave this book! I sure did! I was on the arc team and this is my own, honest opinion. 📕♥️

Sage, the ninth book in the endearing, multi-author Garden Belles Mail-Order Brides series, is a sweet western mail-order bride novella that had me turning pages quickly and anxiously, waiting for the truth to be revealed. A well-structured plot and wonderful characters combine to make this a heartfelt, engaging story that can easily be read in one sitting. I thoroughly enjoyed Sage and Micah's story and highly recommend it. Note: Each book in the series is a standalone read.

Sage, part of the Garden Belles series, is such a delightful story. A breathe of fresh air. Sage is living through the worst time of her life. There is nothing left for her, only her companion, Mrs Erics. She is traveling by train, to meet her intended, as a mail order bride. She is assisted by Micah on the train and her life is changing again.

With barely enough food for Sage and her friend/caretaker/Mother like companion to eat, no money & their home being sold out underneath them, Sage had to make the decision to become a mail order bride. This is her story. Will she find love with her mail order groom?
This book had all the feels and was written well and even though you could guess the ending, I found it difficult to put this book down. Highly recommend!

Sage and Micah, what a treat your story was. Being back with the Garden Belles was a treat also. Love this series and Sage's story stole my heart. Being put into a situation that you did not sign up for can be very difficult. Sage and Micah took it with faith and courage and through lessons learned and hard moments, they became better people for it. I loved how the author intertwined plot twists in to make a very enjoyable story.

I love this book! Great characters that immediately grabbed my heart. The plot was so fun and did a great job of pulling me in from the start. I couldn't wait to see how the story tied up at the end. The romance is so swoony. Excellent ending, it did not disappoint!

Sage is in a desperate situation. Her parents are deceased, her brother (who inherited everything) just sold her home. In desperation she send off to become a mail-order bride. On the way to fulfill her contract she falls in love. There are such heart felt moments I never wanted the story to end.

April 20, 2026I received an ARC, and all opinions are mine, another good book from Sarah Lamb, this is a clean, sweet, faith based historical romance book, this is a pretty quick read,very good, if you enjoy that type of story I would definitely recommend this book!

Action! Adventure! Affection!
Mail-order bride? Check. Action, adventure, affection? Check. Wonderfully fun story, well told? Check! No spoilers but there's a great "meet cute" on a train in the wild west, with a guaranteed HEA. Loved it!

A delightful story of a mail order bride. I love that Sage and Micah meet on a train. Not a Christian type story but one that speaks of faith. I received a copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
