Riveting Drama! An Excellent Read!
I love all of the mystery books written by this amazing author. Riveting, taunt drama, realistic finely drawn characters who have complex personalities and sometimes hidden agendas and secrets. This first book in what I hope will be a very long series was intriguing and interesting. Cara has taken up residence in a small coastal town, operating a bakery, but she has hidden skills that don't match her cover story. An FBI agent is searching for his journalist brother who has disappeared after investing something that someone is willing to kill for to keep hidden.
As Cara and Gabe work together, at first very reluctantly to piece together the mystery and find his brother hopefully alive, their growing attraction is hampered by the fact that Gabe knows she isn't who and what she professes to be. Others in the town who come together to help all seem to also have past lives and skill sets that don't match their current jobs. As they learn to trust and rely on each other they are willing to accept the fact that maybe its okay not to probe to deeply into past lives. I can't wait for the next book in the series! Kudos! 🎉🎉👋👋🌟🌟🌟💞

Characters, Cara Sweet and Gabe Sawyer, are an interesting leading pair. I enjoyed beginning to get to know them; though I sometimes questioned the believability of the story development.
However, the character I was most fascinated and intrigued by was Cara’s neighbour, Wade. He is totally believable as snippets of his character is revealed. I actually what to discover his story more than Cara’s and Gabe’s.

This book has wonderful, varied, unique characters. The story is full of lots of mystery and suspense, action, caring characters in a small close knit community. A missing brother, a murdered P.I., and corrupt officials make for an intense story. I really love this book look forward to the next book in this series.

WOW!
So many things I liked about this book. The story line is fast paced. Full of intreque, characters that are strong, persistent and easy to like.
Along with no bad language and a well developed story with twists and turns.
I can’t wait for the next book!

Another excellent suspense story from Edie James. Fascinating characters and an intriguing mystery with twists and turns that kept me reading to the last page.
