A sexy masked stalker, but make it sweet and cozy?

I love how A. Knightley can take darker topics (like I am still legitimately spooked by the idea of being a fire watch tower), tell an incredible story, and still make me feel as though I am wrapped in a fuzzy blanket the whole time. It’s the perfect combination of scary, sexy, and safe.

Atlas (aka the Masked Man) is my favorite type of morally grey, dark romance hero. He does bad things, but will do anything to avoid inconveniencing his love interest, Max. Sometimes I wanted to poke him just a little and be like, dude, it’s okay that you like him! But his hesitation and concerns about bringing Max into his world are understandable.

The chemistry between Max and Atlas is off the charts from their first (almost) encounter. The minute their Alpha and Omega pheromones connect, their bodies know they are absolutely compatible. While a rather dark incident keeps them apart, when they do reconnect, the struggle to build trust and ultimately decide what they each want (A/O instincts be damned!) is really well written. While there is some misinterpretation on Max’s part, it is incredibly understandable why he reads the situation this way and also why he doesn’t fully trust a masked man who keeps breaking into his space.

As I mentioned, the book also keeps a nice, cozy vibe. Moments of humor help keep the mood light, and while Atlas’s world is dark, it is clear he will do anything to keep Max safe, even if it means sacrificing his own happiness.

Heat Lightning was absolutely amazing, and you need to read it now!

Okay, I absolutely adored this! This was my very first book by this author, and I am officially hooked! 😭💖💖

I have to say, Max completely stole the show for me. I honestly thought Atlas was going to be my favorite, but Max just completely melted my soft heart 🥹.

I thought it would take me way longer to finish this book, but it's such a fast-paced and entertaining read that you don't even realize how quickly you're flying through the pages until you're suddenly near the end! 🤭✨

This book was a whirlwind of emotions. Max and his masked man did not meet on normal terms and it did not get easier from there. Poor Max is too naïve to see the danger he’s in, but our masked vigilante keeps a close eye on him, for safety obviously and no other reason… Despite the fear, Max can’t help but feel drawn to his alpha stalker. I love that they were drawn to each other by sent, but it wasn’t explicitly stated that they were fated mates. The fact that they chose each other ultimately despite everything was to me more meaningful. Despite our masked man’s plans, things did not go how he wanted them to. Poor Max ended up in a very dire situation in which is masked man came to his rescue, however, both of their lives changed that night and not for the better. Watching these two suffer so much for something that someone else caused was pretty heartbreaking and even knowing that things would eventually work out, it was pretty hard to see them struggle. You could really feel how much they cared about each other and loved each other, but sometimes we are our own worst enemies when it comes to things we want. But good news, justice did finally get served in the end, and our duo gets their hard earned happy ending at last. I felt it was quite satisfying and during the end we get a little glimpse into an important side character’s life, which I hope we get a book about because I know it would definitely be juicy. Once again A. Knightley comes through with another incredible book and I look forward to more.

OK, I love love loved this! This was a great mix of dark romance with omegaverse - I could NOT stop reading and basically read it in 2 sittings haha.

I love A Knightley's omegaverse and you will get allllll the great tropes and elements that you'd come to expect with the genre - scent marking, nests, heats, ruts, and Max and Atlas just have crazy good chemistry together! This one is steamy, spicy, and delicious!

I also love the backstory for Max's Masked Man - Atlas and his childhood with break your heart. I love his relationship with his brother (and OMG HELLO next story?! I need it immediately LOL). The dark romance elements totally work for me in this story. Like yes, Atlas might have many red flags but he's totally perfect for Max lol.

I don't want to go too deeper into things b/c spoilers - but I love how everything was revealed. There is some danger, some angst, just a bit of poor communication to add to the conflict - and it all just really, really worked for me.

Another winner from this author, and I cannot wait for the next book!

Couple: Max and Masked Guy (Atlas).

Structure: First person person, past tense, dual POV. First book in a series.

This was one of my most ancitipated reads of the year. And it did not dissappoint AT ALL! On the contrary, it was even more than I expected!

Both characters are so loveable, even if I did want to slap Max a few times there when he lashed out without letting Mask Guy (keeping his name a secret, since it's part of the mystery of the story) explaing himself and misinterpreting things. But he does learn in the end, and his tricky situation is also understandable.

The mystery in general wasn't one that left me anxious, but it did catch my curiosity a lot and kept me thinking about what it could be. And when we find out, it's kind of adorable, actually hahaha

The MCs' chemistry is WILD! All the moments of sexual tension, the way their fated bond is depicted... I genuinely blushed and my heart sped up reading those scenes LOL And the dirty talk? Pure FIRE 🔥🔥🔥

And in the middle of all the darkness, the mystery and the smut, there's a level of sweetness that just made me melt. The way they want each other and develop feelings, especcially from the Masked Man's perspective, is so beautiful! And all the jealousy and possessiveness is the cherry on top!

Every decision for the plot was amazing for me. The only thing I would add if I could was a bit more about them after they actually mate and get together. To see them building their lives together and all that. There is a bonus scene in the author's Newsletter though, which I'm getting right now to read hahaha

If you like omegaverse with the best breeding kink, fated-mates, rut and heat, mystery, pinches of darkness and a lot of sweet emotions as well, then definitely give this one a try!

Heart Lightning is a dark omegaverse romance, and I truly hope it's the first book in a series because I really liked the combination of these two genres.

I'm a huge fan of the Omegaverse, and I'm starting to get into dark romance, so it's a win-win.

Max is an omega aspiring to be a chef who is trying to make his way in life; however, lately he can't shake the feeling that someone is watching his every move from afar. It's a situation he both likes and doesn't like at the same time.

The Masked Man,I’ll stick with that name for now, is a killer who takes care of society’s worst elements, and one of his targets happens to be Max’s coworker.

I loved The Masked Man, although he’s a little too stubborn for my taste, since he always insists on finding a solution on his own. I won’t say any more.

Hopefully we’ll get a second book, especially since the couple is there, waiting for their turn.

This was a deliciously hot, spicy stalker romance, that was also absolutely adorable. The plot is definitely darker and covers some sensitive topics. But it's done very well. I loved the romance. That it teetered on the edge of being cutesy cute, but also, it's 100% a stalker romance and I loved the darker bits too.

The characters are well written and I loved them both. Their chemistry was HOT, and I was rooting for them the entire book.

For me, the only reason this wasn't a five star read was, this book is heavy on the miscommunication trope, and the lack of having open communication or an actual conversation. It's not my favorite trope, and I can understand an initial miscommunication, but the majority of the problems in this book is the characters not communicating and making a million wrong assumptions. And for me, it just dragged on too long.

But, I did still 100% enjoy and devour this story! And if there is more in the series, I will so be reading.

I’m a mega fan of A. Knightley and a huge lover of omegaverse, so I already knew this book was basically written exclusively for me (yes I reside in the land of Delulu, don’t judge). This book features all the yummy dark alpha vibes. A stalker vigilante, violence (not between MCs), obsessive/possessive touch him and ☠️ energy, and knotting.

Max and the Masked Man’s (we’ll call him MM for now) chemistry is impeccable. There’s instant attraction on both ends even though one fights it and the other is confused by it, leading to mutual resistance. Which is FINE, we’ll get there.

“Anybody could just waltz right in. There were so many weirdos out there. I could be a psycho, or a murderer. Well, I was, but I wasn’t there to murder him.“

Max was such an oblivious soft boy, just out there looking for love with blinders on. Thank goodness MM spotted him while casing his mark! Like the boy truly had zero sense of self preservation, but that’s ok because we love him lol. MM may be a vigilante unaliving stalker, but the man still has spectacular morals!! Not only does he believe in justice, but he’s very clearly a fan of consent 🙌🏼. Factoring in the circumstances that he saves Max under, thank goodness for his strong sense of morality.

“But the night was looking up, because he’d been put on trash duty, which gave me the perfect opportunity to scare the shit out of him. It was one of my favorite hobbies that didn’t involve sniffing Max’s underwear.”

There was a part in the book that made me tip my hat off to Knightley because it felt like the most blatant, yet discreet, nod to our current justice system. The way things get hidden and covered up to protect the big dogs. I SEE YOU A. KNIGHTLEY 🫡.

I don’t know if this will become a full on series, but I do know that I can’t wait for book 2 (especially if it’s about who I’m thinking).

Just wow!! I absolutely loved this, right from page one! I was fully invested in both characters, the development of their 'relationship' and especially just who The Masked Man is.
It's intense, dark in places, and freaking hot to read! When it comes to the climax of the story (pun totally intended!) my heart went out to both men. It's heartbreaking in places, for both MC's and what they have experienced (some on page, some off) but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the story. A. Knightley has, once again, written a fantastic book that readers will not be able to put down. That, along with the incredible artwork that has me needing to buy a physical copy immediately, means that I cannot recommend this book enough.

Delayed…..again… when is it now…

First off, I’m gonna say this book affected me. It’s in my tops reads of the year now. And I will be thinking about it for a good while. This was so well rounded, so endearing, so sweet and played out so well for the depth. Omg I enjoyed it! More than that! The journey we went through. I don’t cry a lot of happy tears, but dammit…had it here.

The scene when they were finally intimate was off the charts! The build up had us all on this platform already, built the stage, and the pay off was SO great! The descriptions, the feelings, the want, need, all that you could ever want was there. You’re fully engrossed in that moment and I thought it was so beautiful. We went through the meanings, the misunderstandings, the hesitations, and we got to be there for this momentous moment when they both gave in. It truly felt like “mates”, the full meaning of it, the raw truth. Yes it was intense and gritty, but it was also sweet and truthful and sincere. I think that’s my favorite part of the book. No more lies or compromises. Just giving in and enjoying the ride. “A raging gale and the calmest aftermath” Home… “rather than learning it for the first time, it felt like I’d always known and simply needed reminding” hello Atlas…. I think I had tears in my eyes by then. When a book can ALLOW you to get into this depressive state that the characters are in, it’s a sign of great writing. You don’t get pissed of because ur depressed. When you can feel what Max is feeling, and emphasize with his betrayal and feel a kindredship with him, the book is good. I’m not going to get upset at the author for making me feel things. I read becuz I want to feel things dammit.

I was resentful that Masked Man still felt that all he needed was to purge his system of Max. That HE was resentful of the bond. You kind of want to bang their heads together to realize the obvious. I said “you’re both so stupid” multiple times! lol definitely added to the angst. Wants to find his freedom, THAT TWINK IS YOUR FREEDOM! I liked that Atlas had his faults, his own trauma, his own outbursts and petty responses just like Max had. Max is kind, caring, vulnerable, but will slice you with his tongue if he feels the need to. And instead of bowing to it, Atlas would spear back. Not harshly, but in his own way.

This story felt organic. It didn’t feel rushed or pushed in any way. There was a timeline and everything in between felt right. Things formed how you thought a regular person would, their reactions and doings were on par and could see your self doing once you understood the context. I love that! It’s dark, yes, but based on what you would do if this was your reality. Max is witty, hilarious, and adorable. Atlas is the strength we all need in our lives. “I’ve got you, even if you don’t see me” “even if you don’t mean it”. after that it was full on crying. And just saying “please don’t break my cook’s heart” OH MY GOD!!!!!!! Waterworks came again, just read the book. Read the goddamn book. You’ll love it. I don’t know what else to say. 6 stars if I could. 6+ fireflies!!! I need more of this couple.

Girl, you had me at killing pedophiles and rapists. Also, it's very funny to me that this whole thing happened in Michigan, and that Max is from the UP (as someone with family there). I love it when places I know are referenced in books.

I'm not really a dark romance sort of person, but I knew A. Knightley would deliver something unexpected and outside the mold. The Masked Man (shh, no spoilers) is SUCH a loser, I love it. I appreciate when alphas aren't the stereotypical smooth, suave dark romance leading men that they tend to be grouped into. He felt very human in that sense, where he's outwardly pretty cool and scary and stuff, but then you get to his POV and he's just an absolute loser (affectionately). Yes, I'm talking about when he falls off the trellis and has to YouTube how to patch drywall.

I also really like how Max isn't just a helpless victim. The rep in this book was very very well done, from the guilt to the lingering nausea of what could have happened. Just make sure you read the TWs beforehand.

This book was probably the funniest MM omegaverse I've ever read (not that I've read too many outside fanfic, cough cough). The MaskTok reference, Masked Man's orca shirt, Jeffrey the cat...if you like a good amount of humor in your dark romance, this is definitely for you. It was very well timed between the darker stuff, too, which is bonus points.

Also, the plot twist. Ohhhhhhh, the plot twist. I well and truly fell off the couch when it clicked. This is WILD and AMAZING and just WOW. The setup was fantastic and the execution was even better.

I think I might actually love omegaverse. I am genuinely obsessed with this book. While I haven't read many omegaverse novels and don't have much to compare it to, I still thought this was really good. I found myself giggling and kicking my feet the whole time I was reading, and I did, in fact, devour this book in one sitting.

This story was unhinged, hot, spicy, and at times, I couldn't stop laughing. I was hooked from the first all the way to the last page. I thought the characters were very interesting, and I'm curious to see who else will be getting a book in this series.

While I love Atlas, that man was as stubborn as an ox. Although I can understand why he was hesitant. Even though I knew he was trying to protect Max in the only way he thought he could, my heart broke every time for them both when things got rocky. Despite the bumpy journey they faced, they did find their HEA.

Overall, if you enjoy masked men, omegaverse, or if you're just looking for something to spice things up in preparation for spooky season, then this is definitely the book for you. I can't wait for book two because the little breadcrumb we got at the end left me very, very curious. After reading this book, I for sure will have to look into some other books by A. Knightley.

Atlas is the best. There, I said it. 😂 I absolutely loved his character and the way A. Knightley portrays him as an Alpha. I love Omegaverse, and this one was done so well!

Max is just enough of a “typical” Omega with his neediness and vulnerability, but he also has this strength and independence that I really loved. He was perfectly capable without an Alpha, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t deserve to find his Alpha and be happy too.

The plot wasn’t quite what I was expecting. There were definitely stalker vibes, but they felt different from the usual, and Atlas being a bit of a bumbling stalker was honestly so much fun to read. 😂

One of my favourite things about Atlas was the way he advocated for consent and made sure Max had a choice, even when giving him that choice could work against Atlas himself. I really appreciated that aspect of his character.

Overall, I really loved this book and especially enjoyed the way A. Knightley explored the Omegaverse. If you’re a fan of Omegaverse romances with a little something different, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a read!

This was my first Knightley book and it won't be my last.

The description drew me in early as I love the idea of a masked man... throw in omegaverse and I'm sold. I liked the beginning and the tension it built then enjoyed the slow down and angst building that occurred next.

I really loved that I was a little frustrated while Max worked through his feelings - nothing makes me happier as a reader when an author makes me feel real emotions while reading! The masked man was great - a engaging level of domiance and vulnerability that made his character enjoyable to devour.

the twists and reveals within in the story were wonderfully delivered and the path to future books well established. I thought the side characters as well as the main characters we well developed.

The ending to what became the 'background' plot was quite fast... but by that stage it was nicely done because it was no longer really on my radar in terms of what I was hoping (wanting) the outcome to be.

I'm intrigued to see where the next book will go... thank you for the ARC I had a great time :D

Max, an Omega, wishes to become a chef one day and open his own restaurant. The only problem: he has a stalker. And not only does he have a stalker, but one who makes his inner omega yearn. The masked man is a k*ller, a vigilante who hunts, and when he meets Max, he’s not prepared for his alpha to want to claim him, bite him, and mate him. But he knows he must stay away, because Max is good and deserves better. Right?

This was such a fun story! I wasn’t expecting the humour but I was pleasantly surprised. I laughed out loud quite a bit lol. I really liked the Masked Man! Despite what he’d say about himself, he was actually kind, sweet, and compassionate. Of course he had some flaws, BUT WHO DOESN’T??? (lol). I also loved Mr. Marino and Enzo, as well as Gwen. However, I didn’t like Max as a character and that took me out of the story a bit. I found him to be very annoying and he always jumped to the wrong conclusions and then wouldn’t let the Masked Man explain. Like, let him talk!!! The lack of communication was too much for me.

Overall, a fun story and a lovely romance, but I wish Max’s character had been different. Thank you to the author for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review 🩷

I’m going to be honest… I absolutely fell for The Masked Man. Even with his questionable relationship with Ziploc bags. 😂

There is something so fascinating about the way he watches Max from the shadows. He’s powerful, dangerous, possessive, and very much an apex predator, but what surprised me most was the restraint. For all the stalking and masked madness, he never took away Max’s ability to choose. That made their relationship so much more intense because the danger was always there, but so was the longing. 🖤

And then we have Max, who was such a delight! His inner dialogue had me laughing constantly. He’s sweet, snarky, chaotic, lonely, and stronger than he realizes. He wants someone to belong with, yet when things become too overwhelming, running feels like the safest option. Did I yell at both of them for being idiots? Absolutely. 😂 But watching them find their way back to each other made every frustrating moment worth it.

The trust between these two was one of my favorite parts. It wasn’t magically fixed overnight. It had to be earned, tested, broken, and rebuilt. Their connection felt messy and genuine, and underneath all the darkness was something surprisingly tender. ❤️

The heat lightning metaphor was brilliant. Something happening far away can seem harmless because you don't hear the thunder, but it can still warn you that a storm is coming. That is exactly how The Masked Man felt to me—always somewhere in the distance, always watching, with Max never knowing when that next strike might come. ⚡️

And when these two finally collide? Whew. 🔥

This book had SO much packed into it—mystery, suspense, found family, heartbreak, humor, banter, danger, and some incredibly sweet moments. I even cried a little, which I was not prepared for. 😭

The side characters were fantastic too, especially Jeffrey. That little menace added so much personality to the story. And the image of a massive, furious Jeffrey sending someone fleeing through a window? I’m still laughing. 😂

I also adored Max being a chef. It was such a fun detail and gave his character something that felt fresh and different from what I usually come across in omegaverse romances. The nesting was ridiculously adorable too. 🥹❤️

The romance and intimate moments weren’t just there for heat. There was emotion, vulnerability, affection, and meaning behind them, which made those scenes hit differently. The omegaverse elements were also woven into the story without overwhelming everything else.

And The Masked Man himself? Definitely not what I expected. Behind the mask and all that frightening behavior was someone carrying an incredible amount of loneliness, pain, and yearning. His feelings for Max were intense, and watching that unfold was honestly one of my favorite parts.

The villain storyline had me emotionally wrecked. I was angry, stressed, and completely invested in what was happening. 😩 The twists kept me guessing, and there were moments where I genuinely had no idea where the story was headed.

A. Knightley has such a way of making a book easy to devour while still giving you so many little details that make you want to slow down and take everything in. I could have flown through this book, but I kept stopping because I wanted to savor Max, The Masked Man, Jeffrey, and this entire strange little world.

Also, the dedication? I knew immediately I was going to love this book. 😂

Dark, unsettling, funny, unexpectedly wholesome, and incredibly romantic in its own strange way—Heat Lightning gave me exactly the kind of reading experience I didn’t know I needed. ⚡️🖤

I think Knighltey has come up with a new trope, instead of one bed I give you One Pantry. I mean, really food is kept there, hygiene! 🤣

I love dark romances and omegaverse, combine them, sign me up and a bunch of my book friends. We have been chatting about this for a bit and Heat Lightning did  not disappoint. It had all the elements, morally grey mmc, obsessed with his target, steamy 🥵 heat scenes and so much more.

You can't help but love The Masked Man. Despite his questionable use of Ziploc bags 🩳, breaking and entering, he never uses his power to capture Max. The Masked Man is an alpha, apex predator, stalking his adorable, sweet, black and white omega, but never coerced or dominated Max, almost to his own detriment.

Max alone in the world, wanting to find that special someone to share his life with. Life doesn't always go as planned, but a whimsical pair of pajamas can really help you through those rough days, you know when you are constantly feeling watched. I love how Max fought for what he wanted and I understood why he also ran. I still may have yelled at my book, calling them both idiots, but they healed together and got there in the end. 🥰

Trust can be hard to earn and so easily lost.
This story had a lot layered in, a little mystery, tension, found family, amazing side characters, banter, heartbreak (yes I cried a little), so many laughs. I mean picturing a massive pissed off Jeffrey, I would flee out a window too.

Then the use of heat lightning⚡️, lightning that happens so far away you can't hear the thunder. It feels safe, but it signals a massive storm is coming. The Masked Man felt like heat lightning, distant threat that Max never knew when or where would strike next. Their bond, like lightning, born from intense heat and you're just waiting for them to collide. It was perfect.

Feeling pretty lucky I got to read another banger of A. Knightley and was sad when it ended, but thankfully the end hints at another's story. So looking forward to that.

At this point, I’ve read everything in A. Knightley’s catalog, so was anybody shocked when I requested the ARC for Heat Lightning..I was not my friends I was not.

I was not prepared for how much I was going to like this book.

Heat Lightning was full of twists and turns, funny moments, moments that had me upset, and plenty of “what in the world is happening?!” It still has those elements I love about AJ’s writing, but this one definitely felt a little darker than what I’m used to from her, and I really enjoyed that change. I previously read her wolf shifter series and another series I LOVED.

We follow Max and the Masked Man and I’m not telling you who the Masked Man is because you need to read the book. That would legit spoil the whole thing!

Max has had such a difficult life, and it was incredibly easy to become invested in him from the beginning. You learn about his lack of everything and what he’s gone through to get where he is, and his love of cooking, and I just wanted my boy to be happy. Let Max cook and live the life he was supposed to live.

Then we have his very unconventional relationship with a mysterious man who enjoys stalking him and hiding in the darkness. Doing typical romancing which includes a little breaking and entering.

What really got me was how different this story felt. It’s omegaverse, but this took it in a direction I wasn’t expecting at all. The mystery surrounding the Masked Man lasts for a good portion of the story(not in a bad way), and while I definitely started having suspicions, getting the actual reveal was still SO satisfying. It wasn’t necessarily, I wasn't COMPLETELY expecting it but more, like an ahhh! That's what this was.

And THE CHEMISTRY?! Max doesn’t even know what this man looks like, and somehow their chemistry was still a 5 out of 5. The spice was really good when we got there!! So much sexual tension. There’s a lot of buildup, but it actually serves the story, so I never felt like the slow burn was dragging.

And then we get to the plot twist (dun dun dunnn) lol.

I was not expecting the entirety of that situation only a little bit. There were honestly moments where it felt like this book had multiple climaxes because every time I thought we had reached the big moment, poor Max had something else going on. But it worked and it kept me engaged because I genuinely wanted to know what was happening each time, I turned the page. Like I started this book and didn't stop until I finished it.

Even outside of the romance, I loved Max’s found family with his best friend and the connections he builds throughout the story. I was invested in him from the moment we met him working in that restaurant, and honestly it never really stopped. While reading you continually want good things for him. Especially as years pass in the story.

If you like omegaverse, slow burns that actually have a little razzle dazzle once they get there, mystery, stalking, twists and turns, and characters who occasionally make you want to grab them by the shoulders and ask if they are okay, this is the one to read.

Max is a serious cutie pie but if I could reach ind and strangle him I would
Don’t get me wrong realistically he’s the most sane person ever, but both him and the masked man had a serious problem with miscommunication and I fucking hate that trope but I will say they kept me on my tiptoes the whole time and I don’t know if I really hate the trope. I just know it keeps me in suspense and I don’t like that but I do love this book so two heck with it.

This book has some seriously amazing spice you will definitely enjoy it if you are a omega verse fan trust my bitches trust

I rated this book a 4 out of 5 and I would love to recommend this to the fans of masked men stalkers a twist of omega verse and the whole lot of miscommunication, jealousy, and possessiveness. Enjoy!

Going into the book I didn't expect it to be this funny, but I have so many lines highlighted that made me laugh out loud. And I think the humour was my favourite thing, although there are other things as well.

The characters were so well crafted with many facets to them. I liked Max's humour and how protective the Masked Man was of his loved ones (not going to reveal his name so it's a surprise for everyone as it was for me). I also liked how patient he was with Max and kept his calm around him to make him feel safe. Sometimes I was annoyed at how Max kept jumping to conclusions and assumed a lot rather than communicating properly with our other MC. He could also be vicious with his words and he said this one thing that was kind of f*cked up. He did apologize later though and took responsibility for what he said. The Masked Man also did some questionable stuff, but I think that it made the characters seem more real and complex and not one-dimensional.

Their chemistry was really sweet and hot. "Sweetheart" as an endearment is my new favourite thing. Loved the banter. Dirty talk was also on point. Also get yourself a man who gets your favourite flavour of gatorade and blankets in your favourite colors 🤭.

I started to suspect one of the plot twists and it was exciting to see that I was right. The reveals were done well and I was loving the drama. Would definitely recommend to check some of the TWs, especially in the beginning of the book.

Really liked all the side characters as well and I'm really intrigued about the potential couple we might be getting next 👀.

Overall the writing flowed very nicely and the plot sucks you in from page one.

OH, ATLAS AND MAX! These two completely pulled me into their story, and I honestly couldn't get enough of them. 🖤

Atlas is the kind of alpha who demands attention the moment he appears. He's dangerous, intense, and shrouded in mystery, but what really made him stand out was the way his feelings for Max began to show through. Beneath that intimidating exterior is a man whose protectiveness and possessiveness make their relationship so addictive. I loved watching Atlas's connection with Max develop and seeing how much more there is to him than the man behind the mask.

And Max! ❤️ I loved getting to know him and seeing how he navigates everything Atlas brings into his life. His vulnerability, emotions, and growing connection with Atlas made him such an important part of the story. He's not simply there to be protected; his relationship with Atlas has its own tension, complexity, and emotional weight.

The chemistry between these two is EVERYTHING. The contrast between Atlas's dangerous alpha energy and Max's place in his life creates such an irresistible dynamic. I loved the push and pull, the tension, and those moments when their feelings become impossible to ignore.

Atlas and Max are what made this book so enjoyable for me. One dangerous, obsessive alpha and the man who manages to get under his skin? YES, PLEASE! Give me all the possessiveness, emotional tension, and romance. 🔥🖤

I might have a new A. Knightley favorite. I a huge fan of omegaverse and was so excited when I saw A. Knightley was writing one. Heat Lightning did not disappoint! I was hooked immediately and couldn’t put it down until I finished then had a book hangover.

The world building was something I loved as it did a good job explaining the alpha/omega dynamics, heats and ruts, bonding, and how it can be deadly and also affected by trauma.

The stalking vigilante aspect was also well done in my opinion. I loved that our Masked Man had a moral compass and felt conflicted when crossing boundaries. I also appreciated there was a strong emphasis on consent between Max and the Masked Man.

Their romance was sweet and spicy. I felt like they complimented each other well and helped the other’s growth and healing. I loved the obsession and desperation that they had for each other.

I loved both Max and the Masked Man as they had their own personalities, flaws, and mental health struggles. I also am really interested in the side characters and excited for the next book.

The book does have an attempt at sexual assault via drugging not between the main characters (it’s in the trigger warnings) and i felt like it was well handled. It’s not romantized or dismissed, but also doesn’t feel too heavy tonally. A. Knightley seems to do this so well in every book they write, there are always more serious themes that are present and handled respectfully without it feeling dragged down.

I definitely would recommend anyone who likes omegaverse and/or dark romance without the toxicity.

This read was dark, but somehow sweet and wholesome at the same time.

The writing is exceptional, and the banter was so much fun. I loved Max’s inner world and snark. He was such a fun and chaotic character.

The masked man wasn’t at all what I expected. He had his reasons, his pain, and his burdens. Heavy and lonely.

I loved all of the side characters too. The descriptions were so immersive, and I felt completely sucked into Max and the masked man’s world. I was actually sad when it ended.

Also, the nesting always takes me out. It’s the sweetest thing on earth. 🥹 And obviously, the stalking and masked madness was unmatched. I loved “my jealous little omega.” And “sweet boy” made me swoon like a Victorian summer child. 😂

There was so much more woven into this story. Heartbreak, because yes, it made me cry, but also banter and joy. I felt good reading it. I giggled some, and my favorite part was the dedication. I knew from the first moment I was going to love this damn book.

I loved Max’s little sidekick, Jeffrey, and the moment the masked man fell out of the window. 😂

And the intimate scenes weren’t only hot, but layered with meaning and care.

I can’t wait to read more from this author. I can see that a lot of hard work went into this book.

This book was so fucking delicious!

The masked man, whose name you only discover much later in the story, is a masked vigilante Alpha who hunts down really bad people. One night, while watching a target, he meets Max, a sweet omega who immediately catches his attention and becomes his obsession.

The masked man then starts stalking him. Hello, apparently that’s his love language. He keeps telling himself he’s only protecting Max from his target, who could hurt him at any moment, but the truth is that he is completely and utterly obsessed.

I actually don’t want to get into too much detail about the book because it’s so much more fun to read it without knowing what to expect.

So I’m just going to say this: I fucking loved the masked man and Max so much. The masked man is my baby and I will stand by his side no matter what, and Max is so sweet and fierce. I love him too.

The story moves at such a delicious pace that I never felt bored. The chemistry between them is insane, the romance is intense, the spice is delicious and the writing is so dynamic that it constantly kept me excited to see what would happen next.

They are so cute and hot together, and I am so happy I got to ARC read this one. I enjoyed every minute of it. A 5 star read for sure.
