When historian Dr. Elara Vance steals a forbidden 16th-century map from a Lisbon black-market auction, she thinks she’s uncovered a scholarly anomaly. Instead, she becomes the anomaly.
The coordinates on the map don’t exist. And someone is willing to kill to keep it that way.
Haunted by her father’s decades-old disappearance and shaken when her mentor vanishes after warning her to destroy the map, Elara begins to question everything she trusts. Her research attracts a shadow organization that watches her movements, burns evidence, and quietly rewrites history. Each revelation leaves her more isolated, more hunted, and less certain of her own sanity.
The only person who might help is Jonas Reed, a former Navy diver with secrets of his own—and a connection to the same coordinates that shattered Elara’s family.
As clues surface and loyalties fracture, Elara faces a terrifying the map isn’t leading her to a discovery.
It’s leading her to a lie buried beneath the ocean.
And once the truth surfaces, history itself may not survive it.

This story begins with Elara at an auction where her bid wins an old map. She is not the only one that wants it, someone wanted it so much that they attacked and killed the auctioneer while Elara escaped. She was chased by an individual who was also interested in the map. Elara examined the map and found many strange sections which caused her to make arrangements to get to a specific location. As she started to go to the ship she was booked on she was attacked and she was helped by Jonas who helped her to get on his ship and travel to the location she identified on the map. As it turns out, the coordinates that Elara discovered correlated to the location where Jonas's father was lost.
Follow Elara and Jonas as they travel to discover what was so special about those coordinates and why someone was trying to prevent their discovery.
The ending is well worth the read and will explain why that spot on the map was so valuable. This is definitely worth reading, don't miss out!
First ARC book review I've done. Different from what I usually read but I figured I'd give it a chance. When I started reading at first it kind of gave an Indiana Jones vibe. So I wanted to read more to see what would happen. It got a little confusing because the main character's name changed from chapter 1 to the next (Dr. Isla Ward to Dr. Elara Vance) I hadn't read any books by this author so not sure if this was a typo or intentional. Also chapter 6 was just a title page not sure what was supposed to happen if anything. As I tried to continue reading it felt like I missed something. Maybe it was supposed to be in chapter 6. Like I said this was an ARC early version so I figured there may have been some mistakes to expect that would be corrected before the finished project came out.
A wonderful fast paced sci fi thriller. It was a little confusing because the MC’s name changed from Chapter 1 to the next. It took a long time to find out why the character had different names. It was an interesting story overall. The ending helps tie up most of the loose ends. It’s not my favorite genre, but it was entertaining even with the confusion.

How many historic events have been buried by those who wish for people to either forget or never know of their existence?
This is sort of the background principle to this book, and while it focuses on one item, the premise could apply to many historical events that many people are completely unaware about their existence.
The book follows a Professor who is trained not only in map reading, but mathematics and languages, allowing her to analyze ancient maps and their notations. One cartographer in particular captures her attention, as his notes and symbols point to much more than a basic rendition of geography. Her father also was interested in this map, and its anomalies.
Organizations work diligently to hide the information and prevent her further research.
She interacts with an ex-military man whose father also has experiences surrounding the primary noted location on the same map, leading to him even having the coordinates tattooed on his arm.
Through dangerous events, they work together to visit the location, nearly losing their lives in the process.
You really need to read this to work out all the nuances of the story.
What a thrill!! My kind of book. Kept me on my toes and guess what came next.
Is there something below the ocean?? Conspiracies say there is something on the bottom of the ocean that could bring the world we know to an end. Is it real or is it false.
I would give it a 4.5. I really enjoyed the sci fi aspect of it. It kept me interested and I really didn't want to stop reading it. The one thing I didn't like was that it took too long to find out why the main character had different names.
Loved this book. In this book human history might not be what we think. It is a well written book about a different point of origin than we believe with some trying to expose the truth while still others want to hide it
