This is not only an engaging and colorful collection of the favorite Old Testament stories it’s designed to help budding storytellers with tips for the art. The stories have been developed by Anglican priest and biblical scholar Rob James. Each story is presented in a way to bring these beloved stories to life. To make the stories even more captivating, Amanda Ruston has drawn bright and beautiful illustrations on nearly every page.
Share the saga of Joseph, Hannah’s prayer, Daniel facing the hungry lions and who are “The Two Strong Wonen”? It’s safe to say these retellings are packed with adventure, faith, and wonder.
A terrific tool to use at home, in church, or in the classroom. Such a fun and immersive way for children to experience the Old Testament.
I had higher hopes for the storytelling tips. They mostly consisted of making a puzzled or happy face, raise your hands to show joy. I feel stopping your storytelling to tell listeners to point to their head when you tell of Joseph’s dream, or chant splash splash splosh when a character is crossing the water breaks the flow of the story. Just a personal opinion from a retired elementary school teacher.
Otherwise I highly recommend this book.
