Gannett

I've never claimed to be a smart man. In fact, when it comes to making dumb choices, I'm your guy. The most questionable decision that takes the cake, however, would be trying to crack the town's stone wall—my brother's sworn enemy, Gordy Masterson. But after years of surface level acquaintanceship, I want to know how he manages to be so comfortable in his lonely existence. I'm desperate for insight in how to manage my own.

I may raise his every hackle, grind his every gear, but I am nothing if not persistent. I will wear him down until he has no choice but to become my actual friend.

Gordy

You know what's irksome? Feelings. Finding out that I possess some really strong ones for the younger, more obnoxious, golden retriever coded Waters brother? Abhorrent.

Gannett Waters is the last person I'd ever expect to trust with my darkest secrets, because I can't ever recall a time when he's taken anything seriously. But here I am, setting a course for troubled waters, nonetheless. With the storms that constantly loom on my horizon, will I ever find safe harbor?

So this was just beautiful.

This book feels like a hug. Like family. Like I'm part of their big family. It's written so … real if that makes sense. SO natural, the way real people talk and act and communicate.

I relate to the language and way this is written. I really just loved it.

I said it in Healing Waters, but it needs to be said again, I think this is some of the best Found Family I have ever read. I just love them all so much.

There are so many little things in here that I love, so many small moments that are so sweet and endearing.

The seagull, the snack cakes, the twins, the bar, the friend group, the gym, pride cakes, supportive family and friends, tattoos… such a good well written wholesome book.

Sweet sweet Gordy, oh how I love him and Gannett so much. They were so perfect for each other. Gannett is just so good, so strong and patient and how he stood by Gordy's side. The acceptance. Beautiful.

I laughed out loud in this, I cried in this, I smiled for them too. The journey these guys go on, is not an easy one, but so worth it.

They are so perfect for each other. How Gannett just soothed Gordy’s soul … eeek, I’m not crying, you are !

Just Perfection
SO Beautiful
I loved it
I love them all
So well done

So thankful for this arc

On an enjoyment level, this would rate higher for me, but there are a few things I think could be improved, which is what had me landing at four stars. I was thoroughly entertained, though. I don’t think I’ll read the previously released books, but I’m curious to read future stories by this author.

I liked the realistic portrayal of Sarah. She kind of pissed me off at points, but I appreciated that the author didn’t make her out to be awful. She had every right to feel the way she did. I don’t mind when female side characters are made out to be terrible, but I generally prefer it to be a catalyst in the story. Trista Lynn being terrible didn’t really add anything to the story, in my opinion, other than random lines that came across as slut shaming her. Like… did I really need to hear Gordy internally call her a bitch?

The dialogue for the daughters made it sound like they were three or four years old and not six. Maybe I’m just not familiar with how young children speak, but that did not feel accurate to how they were described.

The characters were wonderful. I really thought their development was well done and felt natural, as well as the progression of their relationship. There was a great balance of humor with the hurt.

It was a wonderful story and I really enjoyed it. I really only had two issues that stood out to me. There was a lot of exposition for some moments and it felt like there was page time given to less significant moments in favor of describing important conversations, but not seeing the characters have them. For example, I wish we got to actually hear the conversation between Gordy and Morgan about her mother instead of just a couple sentences telling the reader it was discussed. I also wished we got to see Gordy meeting the girls for the first time at Gannet‘s house. We just heard about him waking up there and are left to assume he met them prior.

My other issue is too much time spent trying to include characters from the author’s other series. I understand the overlap from book one of this series and I enjoyed reading about Evan and the relevant shared storylines between these two books, but the characters from the other series felt unnecessary. It comes across very gimmicky and like a cash grab/trying to convince us to read all of the author’s other books. If I enjoy their book and am interested, I’ll check out their catalog. I don’t need to be hit over the head with it (I also personally don’t love overlap between worlds in completely different series as a general rule). It probably felt necessary to include them for the author, but as a reader, I could have done without the twins and those storyline pieces.

Lastly, there was some weird grammar/words that stuck out to me. Enough to be noticeable, but not enough to ruin my enjoyment of the story.

I’d love to read about Colton if he has a book and think it would be nice to see them try to start a family on page. P.S. I saw the author comment on some of her reviews. I don’t like author’s commenting in the reader space. Even though they’re only in response to positive reviews, and I can appreciate seeing thanks, I feel more comfortable when authors don’t interact on Goodreads. 😬

I just love Mandella’s writing!

Where Healing Waters was heavy with grief and healing, Troubled Waters carries that same depth but brings so much more laughter and light. She always finds that perfect balance between angst and warmth. And the animal companions? Every single time, they just add that extra layer of heart.

I was already attached to Gannett from book one, so getting his story made me ridiculously happy. And Gordy… he had my heart even before we knew the full extent of what he’d been through. Watching these two single dads come together was everything.

Their dynamic felt so natural — the banter, the tension, the fighting-as-foreplay energy — but underneath it all was something so tender. Gannett realising some of his routines weren’t the healthiest and actively working to change? Loved that. Seeing him falter but not give up, gaining confidence along the way, was so satisfying. And Gordy… sweet, resilient Gordy. The way he chose to be better than the example he was given, the way he made sure his son felt deeply loved — that got me.

Together, they didn’t just fall in love. They helped each other heal. Gannett’s steadiness and patience soothed Gordy in ways that honestly made me emotional.

And the found family? Some of the best I’ve ever read. This book feels like a hug. The friend group, the kids, the bar, the gym, the small little moments — it all feels real and lived-in.

I laughed, I teared up, I smiled so much.

Gordy and Gannett were exactly what each other needed.

This was beautiful.

*content warnings below*
This book..... well. Two such different men, and yet are so perfect for each other, at least once Gannett has an awakening about his own sexuality. It takes a while, and a little help from his co-workers but he gets there, and it makes the biggest difference to his 'friendship' with Gordy.
The surly bar owner who has been propping Gannett up for years at his bar, through his separation from his wife and even in the aftermath of certain revelations from the end of book one. Gordy is happy being grumpy and knows what people think of him but there is just something about Gannett that he can't stop coming back to.
Please be aware of the content warnings below when it comes to Gordy's story. It's so impactful and, in a weird way, considering how Gannett comes across as a silly guy who doesn't really care that much about others, except his twin daughters, there is no doubting just how much Gordy means to him and how important it is to him that Gordy feels safe and cared for.
Gannett's character is just so opposite to Gordy, lighter and says The most random things. I laughed out loud several times. I mean, the man even makes friends with a seagull! He is wonderful in just how open he is about what he is thinking, happy to tell Gordy pretty much anything, which either makes him laugh, confused or angry but it means he is present and with Gannett in the conversation.
Gannett's family also have quite a big part to play with this story, given Gordy's history, along with Gordy's son and Gannett's niece being together. Things get quite tense a couple of times but there are also some fun moments, with the re-emergence of the pride cake!
Another absolute must read from this author and a fantastic second book of the series.

**Content warnings- throughout this story, there are panic attacks, night terrors, bursts of anger, a passing thought of suicide, memories of physical abuse as a child and mention of sexual abuse by a parent**

This is my first book by this author and I am so in love with it!!

There was just so much feeling wrapped up into this book but also so much light and fun such a great combination of it all, and really made such a beautiful story.

Gannett is divorced and drinking himself into becoming a real problem. Gordy is the bartender that Gannett goes to get his fix they both have some serious issues but they find peace within each other and help them get through trauma especially Gordy. I don’t want to say too much because I really don’t want to give much away! But my heart broke for these two and I was rotting them on with every argument, every shouting match and every intimate interaction. The chemistry between them was so good.

This book really had it all drama, humor, SPICE and such an amazing plot as well. The possessiveness gets me every freaking time and I squealed and kicked my feet when it was shown !

These two have to be one of my favorite couples of the year so far, such sweet broken souls that were truly meant for each other. Gannett is such a freaking character and had me cracking up while Gordy had be teary up a match made just for me!

Beautiful Story
There was angst, healing, love, laughter and so much goodness! Gannett is such a goofy lovable person. He had me laughing throughout the entire book. I loved him and his snacks and his love for his girls and seagull. Gordy, however, broke my heart. His story is so raw and deep. They found each other at the worst time in both their lives. The found family trope in this book is perfection. Gordy and his son become part of this big family of relatives and friends who are the biggest support system for both Gordy and Gannett.

I was a lucky recipient of an ARC and this was another great book by Mandella. The spice in the book was great and I was surprised by how much of it there was.

I really liked Gordy. Give me a tragic man any day of the week. Unfortunately, I did not care for Gannett. I thought he was super annoying for the majority of the book. 😭 He had some redeeming moments, but as a whole, he was far too goofy and made me cringe most of the time.

But even with that, I still enjoyed the book and the story that was told between the two MMCs.

MY THOUGHTS
OK, so reading book #1 was like learning to ride a bike: things were a little nerve-racking but comfy, I felt eased into the Waters brothers' lives, and I be-bopped my way through the story. This one, book #2... the training wheels came off, and I felt submerged, kind of like getting knocked over when the tide's coming in and you can't quite get your feet underneath you.

I found Gannett and Gordy SO emotional and romantic, real and not idealized, as they learned to love each other and themselves as well. They both were hurt in their own ways, equally frustrating and devastating. I love that building their relationship forced them to work on that pain as well, leaning on one another and being pushed to see their strengths instead of only their weaknesses.

Gannett... ah, such a clueless-but-sweet man. He reminds me of Brad (iykyk), where the himbo-ness of it all hides an intuitive emotional intelligence that takes other people by surprise. He's funny and stubborn and a fantastic dad (no matter what he thinks). Gannett's lack of anxiety over finally realizing he's been flirt-fighting (fight-flirting?) with Gordy for years is charming, and once things start to heat up between them, this man is ALL IN.

And Gordy... lordt, the mouth on that man! It's tantalizing. Gordy's as complex as Gannett is easy-going, and his backstory makes my heart hurt. Could he communicate a little better? Yeah, but I know he's only had himself to answer to and for, for years, and he gets better at it pretty quickly. So, no miscommunication trope here (yay!). Gordy's redemption arc is just fantastic.

BOTTOM LINE
Yes, definitely. I am loving this world that Mandy has created. I can't even think of who might be next, but I'll be here for it!

CONTENT WARNINGS

ARC Review
*mild spoilers ahead*

So, I picked up this ARC without knowing anything about the author's work, I applied on a whim and, really, didn’t expect it to blow my mind or anything. I read the first book just so I wouldn’t go in blind, and while it was good (not spectacular), my only goal was to broaden my horizons and enjoy the experience.

Best decision ever.

Let me tell you how I completely fell in love with these two whackos and their rocky, hard-fought love story.

I love it when writers give us flawed, realistic characters, guys who struggle, make bad decisions, lose everything, but somehow find the strength to start over.

Gordy and Gannett find each other when they’re both at really low points in their lives.

Gannett is coming off a divorce that totally blindsided him, he was so checked out, just coasting through his mediocre life, working, barhopping, and barely present at home, that he never imagined his wife would want something more for herself and their twin girls.

Gordy owns the pub where Gannett spends most of his free time post-divorce. He’s also the guy who used to relentlessly bully and threaten Gannett’s brother back in high school. What nobody knows is that Gordy’s past is so full of trauma and abuse, hurting Evan was, in his mind, the only way out he could see at the time.

So, what starts as nights full of banter and playful jabs slowly turns into a reluctant friendship, and then something way more. And it’s perfect.

Gordy carries so much trauma, and is so weighed down by guilt and pain, you can’t help but feel for him. But Gannett, fun, lively, vibrant Gannett, becomes his lighthouse, the only person who can actually pull him back from the edge.

I totally fell in love with both characters: with Gordy’s resilience, and especially with Gannett’s determination to be a better dad to his daughters and a supportive partner to Gordy. The courage he shows during his sexual awakening, how he accepts that he’s probably always felt this way and is willing to experiment and learn, is just lovely.

The writing is good, a real improvement from book one, which I thought struggled at times with pacing.

This one feels just right. Both characters’ voices are distinct and make you really connect with their inner thoughts. The dialogue and banter are super entertaining.

The spice is on point, these guys are both pretty inexperienced, and the way they navigate roles and discover new kinks is not just hot and fun, but also really sweet.

Most of the characters from book one make appearances here, creating a cozy, supportive found-family vibe. We also meet Terra and Tati, Gannett’s precious twins, plus Guligan and Twinkie, the pets who actually help drive the plot along.

I have to say, this is my favorite book of the year so far. I could read about these guys forever. I can’t wait to keep exploring Mandella’s work and see what she dreams up next for this universe.

Meanwhile, Gannett and Gordy have earned a spot on my Mount Olympus of all-time comfort reads.

MM Romance | Divorced dads x2 | Hurt/comfort | Fighting as foreplay | Golden retriever x Rottweiler | Brother's Sworn Enemy | Mild degradation | Cum play | Collaring | Marking

〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️

This story has been an absolute emotional rollercoaster. I have to admit there were moments when I was cracking up at Gannett’s antics, and others where I was just sobbing along with both characters.

I loved Gannett and Gordy equally. Gannett is the life of the book; his jokes and double entendres made me completely forget about the heavy and raw nature of the plot, providing a much-needed breath of fresh air.

Gordy, however, broke my heart. His story is so raw and deep; I absolutely loved the author’s prose and how beautifully she handled such sensitive topics.

Even though I got a bit lost with the large cast of characters at times (mostly because I haven't read the first book yet lol), I managed to catch on to who was who after a few dialogues. Also, the Found Family trope in this book is perfection. Seeing how Gordy and his son become part of this family (a mix of relatives and friends who support each other's every move) was truly beautiful.

This is a lovely yet heartbreaking story. Gannett and Gordy will definitely stay with me for a long time😭💖.

Troubled Waters - Mandela Carona
4.5/5✨🌟

* SPOILERS *

I have not read any of Mandella’s books and I was so excited to have received this book from her. Gosh, this book completely surprised me, especially with Gannett with the words that tumbled out of his mouth or even went on in his head.

I loved how the emotions in this book totally sucked me in just from the first chapter. I just knew I was going to love this book from the prologue where we meet Gannett. I also really loved how the mental health was written into this story because it made it so real.

The found family in this story was so good and I am about a man that loves his family so much and th people around everyone. And the animals in this book was super cute and funny. The fact that the seagull was like an adopted pet made me laugh so much.

I wanted to hug Gordy so much when we actually find out why he’s so angry and broody all the time. When we get a glimpse to his life, ugh, he’s been through the wringer for sure. And Gannett… even with his lovely words, he was just trying to be the best father he could be. I’m here for that.

What I loved the most was how Gannett was able to help him so much. When these two just got together was everything I wanted and needed.

Also, the love these girls had for their father’s boyfriend was so cute. Just swooning over here.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

After reading Healing Waters, I was so curious about Gordy’s story and really hoped he’d get his own book. Fortunately, that’s exactly what happened.
And he was paired with Gannett—literally the most "goofy golden retriever" energy I’ve ever encountered on a page. At first glance, it might seem like they don’t fit together at all. But from the very beginning, when sweet Gannett is unconsciously flirting with Gordy, we know these two will be a perfect match.
The author does an incredible job balancing the laughs with some heavy, moving themes.
Gordy has been through so much, he’s living with cPTSD and has spent years in survival mode, hiding behind high walls. But Gannett starts chipping away at that armor with his terrible jokes, kitchen disasters, and his wild plan to adopt a seagull.
Additionally, we get sweet troublemakers in the form of Gannett’s twin daughters, Gordy’s son who wants to run his own business, and the rest of the Waters family members we met in the previous part. Our heroes' road to a happy ending isn't a bed of roses—each of them has something to work through—but once we reach the end, it’s impossible not to be happy for Gordy and Gannett. They truly deserved the happiness they found in each other.

This book is a delightful continuation of the Tides of Change series! When reading Healing Waters, I fell in love with Gannett, the chaotic younger Waters brother. So when I saw that he was getting his own HEA with Gordy, the grumpy pub owner and arch enemy of Gannett’s brother, I was over the moon.

Once again, Mandella’s writing balances poetic metaphors with unhinged hilarity. Look, any story that centers Gannett was going to be brimming with dirty jokes and unfiltered thoughts. And Gordy’s quiet brooding just brings out more and more of Gannett’s charm. Gordy is such a treat in this book. After Healing Waters, we knew there was more happening behind the scenes for this guarded grump, and it was beautiful to watch him start to peel back all his layers.

Troubled Waters is a story about moving forward: forgiving yourself and making the effort to improve little by little. Gannett and Gordy are there for each other to lean on. Love doesn’t heal them; they have to do that themselves. But it certainly makes it a bit easier along the way. If you like your romances packed full of sarcastic humor, dirty jokes, emotional healing, and a absolutely filthy spice, grab your copy of Troubled Waters right now!

I loved this book! It was exactly what I needed. There is always the perfect balance of heavy and light in Mandella’s books! There was angst, healing, love, laughter and so much goodness! Gannon was a lovable goof who needed to make some adjustments in life. He was pretty settled in his ways and routines and once he realized some of these may not be the healthiest he decided to make changes. Seeing him falter but not give up was great. I liked him gaining more confidence along the way and noticing where he has improved and made accomplishments. Gordy, oh Gordy. He had my heart from book 1 BEFORE we learned what he had been through. His story is heartbreaking but knowing he did everything he could to be a better man than the one who raised him and he made sure his son was loved more than he ever was, that amazing! He dealt with so much and when he saw he needed help he reached for it. I loved seeing these two come together. They both worked on themselves but played a huge role in helping the other heal. The found family was great! I wouldn’t mind a short novella featuring Lauren and her boys!! I’m excited for what’s next!

I cannot put into words how much I love Mandella’s writing. Having been blessed with the chance to beta read both Healing Waters and Troubled Waters has been such a phenomenal experience. To witness how the Tides of Change series has grown—to see the characters come to life and their stories develop—has been incredible.

Where Healing Waters carried so much grief and healing, Troubled Waters continues that theme but brings so much laughter and light. Where Healing Waters gave us trash gremlins, Troubled Waters brings us garbage goose. The way mandy has the ability to bring a animal companion (or two) to every story is just the cherry on top of such an excellent experience.

Diving into Troubled Waters I found myself so attached to Gannett. I fell for him in book one when we first met him, and when I found out we’d be getting his story? I was over the moon. His and Gordy’s dynamic had me kicking my feet and giggling. These single dads coming together in such a heartwarming story—Gannett and Gordy healing each other in ways they never expected. I love them, and even black beard by association I guess 🤣

I could gush forever about Mandella’s writing and how she deserves so much more attention for her books. So instead, I’m here to shout loudly: GO READ MANDELLA’S BOOKS! And I may be a little biased, but Tides of Change is a great place to start! You will not regret it!

I could quite happily read books like this one for the rest of my life. Troubled Waters was one of those books with a healthy amount of humour, angst & self reflection. Gordy, I mean, what a complex, beautiful character. Grumpy, loyal to the core, secret softie with concrete wall around his heart. I loved him so much! Then, Gannett. Jeezus Harold-Joseph Christ, he is my new favourite mc. He is an innuendo king, giant golden retriever puppy, who adopts a seagull and is the cutest girl dad everrrrr! So. I have to rate this book at 5 stars just because I could not think of anything I can quietly complain about. It has everything I ask for in a romance. It's slow burn (and it's slowwww but totally worth the wait!), angsty, a delinquent seagull called Gulligan, 2 very sweet 6 year old twin girls, and mutual healing of 2 guys who want to be a little less lonely. There was sooo much more I could add but honestly, I don't want to spoil it!

Troubled Waters is a beautifully written romance, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read it before release!

This book was sooo good!

I loved Healing Waters, so I was extremely excited to get an ARC of book two in the series.

Troubled Waters follows Gannett (Evan’s brother from book 1), as he recovers from his failed marriage and experiences his bi-awakening, and Gordy, as he starts to come to terms with his abusive childhood and deep seated trauma.

These two were just perfect for each other! I have to admit, when I read the trigger warnings, I wasn’t sure if this was a book I’d enjoy, as I expected it to be very dark and angsty. I was pleasantly surprised however that, while serious topics are certainly on page, the overall tone of the story is still quite light. Gannett is hilarious, and the perfect light (or lighthouse ;) to help bring Gordy out of his darkness. Also loved the realistic portrayals of dealing with cPTSD and how trauma recovery really is about progress, not perfection. And Gannett’s girls were adorable!

Overall a wonderful romance! Can’t wait for book 3!

What a rollercoaster!🤗

A bi-awakening, grumpy/sunshine vibes, seagulls, a wiener (dog), trauma, healing, and found family…
all wrapped up in a huge dose of humor.

I genuinely laughed out loud at the completely unhinged stuff Gannet says. This man… 😂
adopts a seagull. And a Wiener dog. Yes, there are many wiener jokes.

And then there’s Gordy ,the ultimate grump.
Closed off, guarded, the classic “don’t talk to me” type… and somehow these two are the perfect match.

Gannet is the one person who can break through Gordy’s walls and really see why he keeps the world at a distance. That hidden trauma, the pain underneath it all…
💔

Watching the way they slowly learn to trust each other is honestly so beautiful. The first times, the vulnerability, letting emotions in… all balanced with so much humor.

heartwarming, hilarious, and so, so good. 🤍

This book was beautiful. If you read healing waters you know Gannett & Gordy. Trouble waters is their story.
Gannett is a brat, I truly loved him. He’s loyal to the Tee. His love for his family and friends is amazing.
Gordy is Broody. Yes at first you’re like what’s his issue. But once you get to know him you’ll understand everything.
Gannett & Gordy are truly adorable together. It wasn’t easy in the beginning but worth every thing in the end. A beautiful HEA. Let’s not forget get about Gulligan and Twinkie. Our loving seagull and dog!!
If you like a hurt/comfort former best friend brother to lovers , found family, slow burn low angst I highly recommend this book.
Mandy truly wrote this book with love and care. I can’t wait to see what the third book is all about!!

Second book in the Tides of Change series and it didn’t let me down at all!!

Mandela’s focus on the growth of her characters is just delicious. She has thought of every little nuance that would be applied to every word, body movement and reaction. It’s a beautiful thing to read.

As part of the series there are lots of appearances from the characters met briefly in book 1. Everything is melded together with no gaps in the continuity of the story!

The fact that we got Gordy as the second MC makes my heart happy - I don’t think I could have waited to see what happened to this gentle giant. And yes there are loads of feels, emotions and rage!! Lots of rage!! But totally worth it in the end!

Plus there’s a Gulliver and a Weiner!! Read it and you’ll see!!!

I was the lucky recipient of an ARC of this book! ♡ As with the other books by Mandella (I’ve read them all 😍) this earned a 5 star! Gordy and Gannett aren’t perfect, but they were perfect for each other! I loved how strong their emotional connection was! Mandella, you write the best characters! And I was SO GIDDY that you brought in some of the Ridge Falls characters! This book has lots of spice, hits you in the feels, hilarious banter, and a HEA! Highly recommend! Can’t wait for more!

The little hints we had of Gordy and Gannett in Healing Waters weren’t nearly enough. This pair were a s*xual time bomb waiting to explode and I was sat front row with my popcorn watching the fallout.

Gannett is a freshly divorced, assumed-he-was-straight, single dad when he realises his attraction to Gordy. Gordy is man with a boat load of devastating trauma, of which it appears only Gannett can stop him drowning under the weight of it.

They might have orbited each other for years, but these two men NEED each other. Their lives are so intricately interwoven, yet there is something beautiful in the fact they had no idea.

I generously received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Tides of change

This was such a beautifully written story it’ll have you laughing and crying and feeling all the emotions!

Gordie and Gannet are so well matched together!
Gannet is hilarious and such an amazing person.
I’m so so glad they got their happy ever, but Gordie deserved his happiness so much he really did after all he went through, that man is something special.
These two will always hold a special place in my heart!

I teared up so much when Gordie told Evan and brooks what had happen to him and when Ryann came to Gordie I felt that to my bones

Terra and Tati are so cute and funny they were great, how much they loved Mr Gordie and their daddy together was the sweetest thing ever! Baby Gulligan 😍

ARC Review
Troubled Waters
By Mandella Carona
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments, and I absolutely love Gannett for inserting himself into Gordys life and never giving up
The banter between these two who clearly don't like each other is hilarious 🤣 definitely has some laugh out loud moments

All the emotional healing in this book was absolutely wonderful. I love the entire family, especially when they stick up for each other

All of the kids are so damn cute! The adult ones and the baby ones. Gannetts girls had some of the best lines

Gordy and Gannett will take you on a ride you won’t forget. I love them so much!!

They both have their battles to fight, they have flaws, they make bad decisions but they are still so amazing. I love their banter, it is so much fun! Gannett’s internal monologue is hilarious!

Gordy needs Gannett’s light to fight his own guilt and trauma. The growth they both do in this story is so well done.

I love the found family we find in this series. The warmth and all those little moments that makes them all so connected.

Highly recommend!!

Thank you for the arc! My review is honest and voluntary.

If you haven't already read any of Mandella Carona's other books I'd recommend reading them from the very beginning with It Is What It Is. She has built an entire world (set in Maine) and altho they could all probably be read as interconnected standalones, the connections and cameos in all of the books makes them even more special. Gannett and Gordy's story is full of heartbreak, humor, family, interesting pets, healing, personal growth and exploration of sexuality & kink.

I truly don’t know how Mandella does it, but once again I have fallen in love with two men I can never have. Gannet and Gordy had me giggling, crying, and longing for someone to love me so deeply through my flaws and scars as they do. There isn’t a single part of this story that doesn’t make you feel for these characters. If I could give it more than five stars, I would!

OH SWEET HEAVENS!!!

I absolutely love this book. Mandella did not disappoint me. I absolutely just love her writing.

Gannett and Gordy are everything. Gannett is the funny one that loves to have a good time and then we have Gordy who is Mr. Grumpy.... They both are going through drama/trauma. They grow close and help each other heal. I had many emotions in this book, I also had many laughs.

This is just a perfect all around book.
