Roman was intentional from the beginning and he didn’t play about Solè. He was protective of the everyone in his life, and that included Solè from the moment he met her. This author has a way with words that make you feel the emotions of the characters. I loved every single thing of this book.
I loved this book! I really enjoyed how intentional Roman was from the jump and love that they were both able to find that love they have been waiting for ! Roman with the scavenger hunts 🥰🥰🥰! I also enjoyed how their story and conversations laid the foundation for what they both would and wouldn’t allow in their relationship!
So, I would say this book started off great. Roman living with intention and taking care of his sisters was inspiring. Solé, living with fear of loss was touching. There chance meeting was cute because he claimed her verbally after internally claiming her when he first saw her. We all enjoy a man that speaks life into women and that was what Roman was all about. He was a protector for sure. A dog so to speak....
However, it seems the story stayed there. It was more affirmations and feelings than storyline. That is where I disengaged for a few. The desire for more became too heavy. The book did deliver on what the author explained in the foreword for sure but it was a little overkill for me.
Roman met the love of his life at the basketball game. He became a dad before it was time. Raising his twin sister was his to do after his parents got killed. Sole was so heartbroken . Roman was determined to get her. This was such a feel good story. Well written.
This was my first read by this author and I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. The love shared between Roman and Solè could be felt off the page. I loved how he loved on her and allowed her to continue being soft and nurtured that part of her. Roman showed that protection doesn’t have to equal control and the way he protected those he loved was beautiful to see. I appreciated Solè’s softness and her pure heart and spirit. Even with all she had been through and lost, she was still soft and caring, loving hard and didn’t run from the love Roman was showing her. The ending of the book might have been my favorite scene overall.
This story was well written and the cast of characters seemed to feed off each other and were well connected and I enjoyed that. There were some issues with consistency in character descriptions and timelines that didn’t add up, but none of that took away from my enjoyment of the story and the way I swooned with the soft love that screamed from the pages.
Have you ever read a book that just took your breath away? One where the more you read, the more you fell in love with the main characters, their extended family, and their friends? Because, whew, Chile, this book had me in my feelings! Roman and Solé had chemistry that was so blinding and steamy there were moments throughout the book that I, as a reader, felt like that nosy neighbor minding everybody else's business but my own. Roman and Solé's story is one that will have you smiling, laughing (especially with twin sisters Reagan and Reece), shaking your head with anger because people can't read the room, to clapping in excitement for this couple finally getting their much-deserved HEA.
This is the first book that I've read by this author, but it is by no means the last. I'm looking forward to checking out her catalog. This book was fire! 🔥🔥🔥 I highly recommend it.
Loved the story! It was poetry, full of metaphors and smilies. It started out being Sole' and her grandma, Nanna Nan. In Roman's life, it was him and his twin sisters that he was raising. Then those two stepped into each other's life.
Sole' lucked upon Roman at a basketball game and the rest is history. She was chosen by Roman to be his queen. Roman was absolutely intentional from the first time he laid eyes on Sole'. From him, she received and felt love, peace, safe, and protected. After always giving and pouring into others, it was her turn to feel special, breath, and allow him to care for her.
Roman was locked in and didn't play about his his girl. Yes, they had some hiccups along the way but they were absolutely locked in & tuned in to each other and perfect for each other.
I recognized some characters from two previous books. I loved their little community that they built around themselves.
What can I say about book 13 of BLP Breeds Series? I absolutely loved this book and now I need to go read the rest of Meka’s catalog and start praying she writes Bryce and Mel’s story, cause I need it!!
Solè and Roman’s love story was just what I needed to believe in intentional love again. When Roman first saw Solè, he knew she was his one but he had a lot of responsibility and needed to make sure he had everything he needed for those responsibilities plus his one. So he went about his day and said what meant for him will reappear and baby she did and when she did it was all gas and no brakes!!
If you love an intentional love with no strings attached, that accepting you as you are kind of love, then you must read this book. Add it along with the rest of the series to your TBR, you will not be disappointed!
Meka Evette the pure joy I feel after reading this book is almost indescribable. The way you tell Roman and Solè’s story should be taught. Their personalities, highs, lows, fears, and devotion made me fall in love with each and every character. The storyline is perfection. It makes you think about what you get or settle for vs. what you deserve. I was in awe the entire book behind the MMC and the true big dog he was. Roman is smooth, like a breath of fresh air, he’s calculated, intense, patient, and a true protector for all he cares about and loves. The tears I cried came from happiness and joy for the love found and shared in this book. I truly loved it.A real 10/10.
"Protect your peace like it’s your passport; lose it, and you gon’ be fighting customs to get it back."
I love everything and I do mean everything about this. The rhythm and flow of the words was absolutely beautiful. It was like reading a sonnet or a prose.
Peace is precious, and when you can find someone that don't play about your peace, you need to be all gas and no breaks. Roman was definitely a big dog. He was super protective and his love was endless for his sisters, Sole`, and his friends. Roman was unhinged but cool with it or as he liked to say "hood intelligent".
This is by far my favorite book in the series. Great job Meka Evette!!!
You’re going to feel the need to light an incense and play some smooth R&B while reading this. Her word choice and the flow of it is top tier. I can honestly say I have never highlighted so many passages in a book! Sole’ and Roman are sext wrapped in intentionality. She is quiet but not timid and takes care of everyone but herself. She has a side that doesn’t come out too often but it’s there! Roman is a protected. While he seems to,have it all under control there is also an uncertain part to him. Both characters are well written with depth. The treat is reading how this story unfolds when they both react to the calmness being disrupted.
Okay so, i loved them down but bruhhh, we get it, Solé is soft but not weak and Roman is protective but not controlling! Structure isn’t for control, it’s for safety!! Her freckles turn red with every emotion. Omggg!😩😩🤣 other than the repetitiveness of those few things and everything they experienced being a metaphor, they were amazing together. Perfect match. So glad her clumsy self went to that game! 🤣😍 I love how never wanted Solé to call him by his government name! Lmao like ever! It was cute!
The way he handled Henderson…although he almost fucked everything up with his pretty Little Dipper, he worked it out. Baby, the way he planned his forever with her was calculated, intentional and unmatched!! Like, i cried real tears! Everyone was included! Her whole new tribe!! Reece and NanNan’s toast 😭😭😭🫶🏾 Oh and I need more on Mell and Bryce because those two just seem wild af together!
The loss of your parents is hard in itself, but imagine being that teenager trying to find balance while mourning the loss, but left 2 raise two toddlers too!!!… My heart broke for Roman, because he took on a role that many would dread or run from, but he stood on business about his sisters and their bond was a beautiful one!!!… He explained he was not trying to be controlling, but loss taught him to be attentive and protective!!!… Sole had such a big, caring heart and I love that she spoke her truth and didn’t shy away from being open to love!!!… I loved me some Nan and her support of Sole was so heartwarming!!!…
This book was like poetry. Carrying groceries with no bags”
“Love that stayed sturdy”
I created the author background based on her writing skills, lol. She’s a dope African Lit professor and students try their hardest to get in her class. She holds space for them to be creative with their writing and give them a chance to express themselves at her er lounge where she hosts poetry slams and open mic night. I could be completely wrong, but this is what I feel when reading this book 😂
Roman had thee perfect name. Strong, covering of his loved one, steady, rock that knows how to move and stay strong.
A heartfelt, slow burn romance centered on grief, growth, and intentional love. Sole and Roman are both selfless, career and family focused, and overdue for someone to pour into them. Their connection feels natural, mature, and emotionally grounded.
I loved the meaningful conversations, the humor from the side characters, and the way love was shown through consistency and care. This story highlights healing, vulnerability, and choosing love without rushing it.
This is my first time reading a book by Meka Evette and I will read another book written by her! The storyline wax well thought out! This writer play on words were so well placed and were thought provoking! Sole and Roman were perfectly matched, both having strong family commitments due to the hands they were dealt at such an early age! Family, friendship, love, respect and trust is what you will get this reading this book! I hope to see more of Roman & Sole!
These two definitely had intentional words. You really had to slow down and understand the depth of them. I really like the way the author wrote their feelings in way that sounded like mini poems. This was a good read overall. It still had the unhinged vive from the men but also how loving someone changes you in the best way possible. Definitely gotta read about the other characters
This was a nice sweet & soft romance. I liked how intentional & protective Roman was towards Solé. He made it clear from day 1 that she was going to be his wife. He aimed to take care of her and pour into her because she gave so much of herself to others. It did take me a while to get through because the author’s writing style (to me) was a bit challenging to get through. She used lots of figurative language and sometimes it just felt verbose. But overall I did enjoy the story.
Oh my goodness! My heart is SO full! While reading this one, I slowed my reading down with intent to be still and rest in the gems offered throughout this book. Roman & Solés story is one of those we can refer to when we need a reminder of how a "forever kinda love" should feel. Beautifully written Author Meka Evette! Thank you! 💖
Mekaaaaa!! I swear every book she gets better and better! This story was very refreshing and exactly what I needed to get me out of my reading slump. Easy 5 stars and an amazing installment for the BLP Breeds project.
Absolutely loved this man and his ability to communicate and most of all listen to understand. He left no stone unturned when it came to Sole’, NanNan, or his sisters.
Whew, new author… This was beautifully written and just down right awesome. The love and protectiveness was spot on. Oh yo be loved out loud quietly. Yes this was everything. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Roman was definitely the big dawg! I also loved the shout out to all the male authors! They are definitely the underdogs and very underrated in the urban world. Look forward to checking this author out again!
Roman loved hard and he protects even harder. Sole was being to nice to Henderson by letting him down easily. She should of told him harsher then maybe he finally would of gotten the hint? Hopefully Bryce and Mel book will be soon?
That man, that MAN! He came in all gas and no breaks bout his aaaaaaand I loved it for them. There was boy meets girl, sparks, slight drama and who don't love a hood 🥷🏿 that love out loud?
If you are looking for a good Love Story, this is it! I am a diehard romantic and this story hit home with me. I just love the main characters in the story and fact that Roman wasn’t afraid to show his love.
