I must say that I was disappointed in this book. I had trouble getting interested in the author's account of his time in Lunigiana. I think photos of where he lived and his travels would have improved it. The more interesting parts of his book were his thoughts about his father, grandmother, and his first and second wives. He related that he knew very little about his father several times and after a while, I just wished that he had asked his father about his childhood.
The author talked about being isolated during the Pandemic. Those feelings are valid but I wanted him to explore his feelings in more depth. He said his parents never expressed their feelings. So he is like them. It takes practice to recognize and define feelings. I think he wanted express then bur kept giving up. There are parts of this book that are interesting. But a lot of times, it is tedious, and redundant.
