In the aftermath of the Crowning Ceremony, the Achilles Heel and the Crown are no longer clashing in shadows or pulling strings behind Trials. The war for the fate of the magical world is finally out in the open.
Charlie didn’t know what she was getting into when she was forced to fight for the Heel. Nor did she want to fight anyone. But she’s not the same person she was when she first stepped into The Magisterium of Magic. Not after everything that’s happened, after everything she’s done. Trapped between two kings, nothing is simple; nothing is black and white.
Lawrence Hart has been preparing for this war for decades. And now everything is playing out just how he wants. Eden is manifesting before him. If only he could crush the Heel, and then his plans would be realized. Always two moves ahead, he might be able to do just that.
Michael Kale, now the king he never wanted to be, shoulders the responsibility of all the Regulars and low status Users he’s protecting. Long has he wanted revenge against the man who shattered his family, but now he’s fighting for more. Backed by the power of other Masters and Royals, the Heel has never been stronger.
But there is a traitor in their midst, with enough power to bring either side to its knees.
Two Harts. Two Kings. One Crown. In the final installment of The Royal Trilogy, love and loyalties will collide. Only one will rule.
My breath catches every single time my thumbs hover over the keys on my phone to write this review. How do you review pure emotion? How do you put into words what you feel when all you know is the story reached deep enough to pull tears from your eyes, the words enough to make you feel this unrelenting, never ending ache in your chest. Nothing I could possibly ever type or put into words here can even come close to wrapping up how deeply in love I am with this series.
These characters have definitely been through it. The character arcs alone from the first book until now are a night and day difference. Going through devastation, let alone war really changes you. Hardens you. And it definitely hardened these characters. It makes it that much more painful to know where they began, what they’ve gone through, and where they are now. They’ve really had to fight for basically anything and everything. For love, for justice, for each other, for trust, and for forgiveness. The plot twists kept a knot in my stomach and my jaw on the floor. Ugh. the tension and slow burn is on a different plane 😫
Literally the plot to this story couldn’t possibly be more perfect. I love these characters so much and i’m so happy to have been introduced to this series! One of my favorite reads this year for sure. Actually heartbroken to leave this world behind, but best believe i’ll be first in line to see what’s next!
I need you to understand something— the levels of emotion this series put me through?
Unacceptable. Incredible. Life-altering.
I was in a BAD MOOD at my JOB because of the pain, the sorrow, the twists, the longing, the confusion—the feelings. I have sobbed. I have cursed. I have stared at walls thinking about these characters. Charlie. Atlas. Lawrence. Clearence. Mrs. Kale. MICHAEL.
And what’s wild is—I read hundreds of books a year. I don’t get like this anymore. And yet somehow, Michelle Hagood made me feel like that little girl who couldn’t put her favorite book down. I gave this story everything—my time, my sleep, my entire emotional stability—and I would do it again.
Yes, the world is intense. Yes, it asks a lot from you. Yes, it’s ambitious.
And I wanted to give it everything in return.
Because this author doesn’t just tell a story—she makes you feel. Deeply. Primal, consuming emotions that don’t let go. I was waking up at 4am to read, sneaking chapters during bathroom breaks—completely hooked.
The world is enthralling. The characters feel real. The journey is relentless.
Michelle Hagood is officially an auto-buy author for me. She destroyed me emotionally, took me on an unforgettable ride, and reminded me what it feels like to truly be obsessed with a book.
I will be thinking about this for a long, long time. And probably will re-read it.
What a conclusion! The final installment of The Royal Trilogy was everything I wanted from a finale, and the plot twist left me both shocked and in awe. I can't wait for everyone to get their hands on this book this summer.
Charlie's journey was incredible. She is such an amazing character so full of heart, spite, and fight. She soars to the top of the list of my favorite characters. But she isn't the only one who shines. Michael's arc throughout the series was perfect. From book one to book three, Michael grows so much and he has found a special place in my heart. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Hagood creates so many complex, nuanced, lovable characters that stick with you long after you finish reading.
And that's not all. The plot was incredible, the pacing was amazing. This book kept me turning the page, wanting to know what was going to happen next.
I'm devastated that this trilogy has come to an end, but what an end it was. I'm going to miss this world, these characters, and the magic Hagood has created with this series.
I highly recommend this book and this series. Hagood created something so special, and I can't wait to see where she goes next.
This is everything a third and final book of a trilogy should be. There’s a plot twist that literally left me breathless—and yet, Hagood did such an incredible job of sprinkling clues throughout the whole trilogy that I wanted to smack myself for not seeing it sooner.
Charlie really shines in this one, and in a way that sticks with you well after you’ve finished the last page.
I have to say—my favorite character arc was Michael’s. To see him come to far, to grow so much, you can’t help but mourn that you won’t get to see him after this.
The action!!! Gahhh. I was white-knuckling it through, and when I reached the finale, I fist pumped as if it was a personal victory. Gonna miss this world, and these characters, so much.
This book, and this trilogy, stick with you long after you’ve read the last page.
This book cemented Hagood as one of my top auto-buy authors, and I can’t wait to see what she does next.
This final book in the Royal Trilogy is everything we needed it to be, and more. While I intended to savor it, I instead tore through it and finished at 1am.
I laughed, I cried, and had heart palpitations for more than one scene. Michelle does a masterful job weaving beautiful descriptions, clever world-building, and realistic character arcs into this book as she holds your fragile heart in her hands. Then, she smashes it into tiny pieces with plot twists that’ll leave you gasping.
But don’t worry, as an artist who is clearly in control of her craft, she won’t just leave you there. Trust her with the culmination of years of planning, writing, and now finally, darlings, releasing this masterpiece into the world.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough—which means if you haven’t read the first two, you need to. Immediately. Then preorder this one so you’re ready for the chaos when it comes out this summer!
What a great followup to The Masters Trial! Just when you think you have an idea of what's going on or what's coming next, the storyline takes a hard turn and puts you on your b**t or you find your cheeks covered in tears. The imagery is on point with the previous books along with the the highs and lows that play with your heart. It's definitely something I'll keep - not just because the covers make it a beautiful set - but because I love the story. Charlie and Michael and Atlas and Blake.... they've become friends.
My jaw hurts from how many times it hit the floor reading this book. The Royal Trilogy isn't just one genre, because each book brings us something new. TROF brought more than I was expecting, more than I was hoping, and an amount of craziness that simply could not have been predicted after reading the first two books.
I adore this series. The trilogy is fabulous, and this final book is everything you'll want and need after reading the first two.
Insane! It’s perfect. I felt all the emotions! Hagoods ability to make you fall in love with seemingly unlovable characters is incredible. It truly is everything you want in a series - love, hate, rage, magic, life, death, laughter, tears - she really takes you on a journey and I HIGHLY recommend you strap in!
