Awesome For Learning How To Use AI For Programming

In the 8Os and 90s I wrote a lot of computers programs especially for databases and business applications. In the early 2000s 1 used HTML and JAVA to create several websites. Today I use Al as an assistant in my business. A lot has changed over the past 40 years in computer coding. I am not afraid of Al as many doomsday people talk about on social media and videos. I am far more more optimistic. That is why I picked up this book to see what is new with Al in programing. I have to say that the book is highly useful if you are at all involved with programing. If you expect to stay in software programing, then you will have to learn how to work with Al right now. Like all of the software languages I have used in the past, Al is simply a lot that you have to master how to prompt it to get the results you want. I recommend this book for any software programmer.

A Practical Guide That Cuts Through the AI Hype

There are plenty of books talking about AI, but this one actually shows you how to use it responsibly in real software development. I appreciated that it doesn’t treat AI as a replacement for developers—it teaches you how to make it a productive coding partner while still validating, testing, and reviewing everything it produces. The examples are practical, the workflow is easy to follow, and the emphasis on security, maintainability, and avoiding technical debt really sets it apart. Whether you’re just starting with AI coding tools or already experimenting with them, this book provides a solid framework that will make you a more confident and effective developer.

Great reference and knowledge base for continuing use

I found this most instructive and provides a solid reference for all things AI and implementing within an organization. Makes it easy to determine which tools to use for which projects also - quite useful for today’s climate. Recommend!

Good for getting up to speed, not so great to read.

Before I retired, I worked in industrial computing, so I grabbed this book to get up to speed on modern AI techniques in day-to-day development.
And to be fair, the core idea is solid and pretty down-to-earth.
It’s all about using AI as a coding partner while still keeping your hands on the wheel, with checklists, validation, testing, and a strong “no hype” attitude.
The whole “control the process instead of outsourcing your brain” message actually lands, and the debugging and testing section has genuinely useful, professional-minded guidance.

What tripped me up was the execution. Even though it’s marketed as a step-by-step guide, parts of it feel a bit all over the place, and the main point gets repeated enough that it starts to drag.
It’s not awful but it slows you down when you’re trying to quickly look something up. And I’ll be honest, the layout drove me nuts.
The mix of fonts and styles on the same page made it harder to stay in the groove, and my eyes got tired faster than they should.

Bottom line, the intentions are right and there’s value here, especially if you’re new to AI-assisted coding and don’t want to lose control of your code-base.
I just wish it were tighter, clearer, and easier on the eyes.
