We jump into the story really quickly, but almost too quickly because we are missing a lot of backstory. While we get some in flashbacks, I would have preferred having more information to begin with: who the people going on vacation are, why they are going, things like that. I loved the double murder front loaded, that kept tension and upped the stakes which was awesome. The gap of 7 years really slowed down the story and we lost the driving tension. I did love the backstory and Eliza, and her final action really brought back the action. Not really in love with the final action, even to protect the daughter- the actions of the father feel incredibly out of character there as well. This is a 2.5⭐ for me, rounding up. The author has great bones to the story but I do expect more from an experienced author.

Really struggled with this one ! From the first chapter it was so unbelievable that it had me rolling my eyes several times! The story begins with two of the three sisters being confronted on the beach by the police saying their father and his girlfriend have been murdered in the building where they’ve been staying and there is video of the third sister leaving covered in blood, not only did the 2 sisters not react to their fathers death at all the local police take the two sisters to go and get some ‘items’ from the crime scene !! I just felt that the author had not carried out any research into police procedures. Very disappointing!

So this one instantly intrigued me - a double homicide and missing woman, who is the presumed killer, with a beautiful Carribean setting.
However, things quickly fell flat for me. The pacing slowed right down and the story ended up feeling like it was dragging. I struggled to stay engaged.
I worked out part of what was going on so when the reveals came it was less shock value and more vindication. The ending was satisfying in parts, but compared to the rest of the book it felt rushed.
Although this didn't work for me, it may be for you if you like a slow burn mystery with a picturesque setting and characters all hiding secrets from each other.

Engaging
This was a twisty and mysterious story. Even though there were so many signs that made Poppy look guilty, I was never sold on her being the killer. I loved how her sisters never gave up on her. I wasn’t expecting the storyline to span so many years, but that made it more enjoyable for me. I guessed what the plot twist would be from the beginning, but I still enjoyed the journey to get there. This was my first read from this author. I’ll definitely read more of her work.

This book started out so strong! I loved the setting, the mystery and the family dynamics. It was fast paced and entertaining. Unfortunately, once we skipped ahead 7 years, the story started to slow significantly. I still wanted to know what happened, so I kept going, but it was more skimming to get to the end than enjoying the ride.
I found the ending a bit predictable and not entirely satisfying. The author wrapped things up well and I appreciated that, but I found it was anticlimactic. Maybe because I felt like it was quite obvious (at least to me) what happened.

It was so good seeing each of their different emotions and feelings and provided opportunities to question if Poppy was capable of such terrible crimes? I suspected absolutely everyone as being the murderer!
Amazing character development and the description of Saint Aurelie was perfection! I genuinely had no clue who to trust up until the final few chapters which made this so enjoyable! The use of ‘hotter/colder’ (as in the game) at the beginning of each chapter was also an amazing tension building technique that was so blooming original!

She Is Lying by Caroline Corcoran was a twisty family thriller that pulled me in pretty quickly. The setup is immediately interesting: three sisters, a Caribbean vacation, two murders, and one sister who disappears the same night and becomes the main suspect. Years later, the family is still dealing with the fallout, and the mystery is suddenly dragged back into the spotlight when their story becomes a true-crime sensation.
I really liked the way the story was structured around the three sisters. Each section focuses on a different perspective, which made it easy to see how differently Junie, Ruby, and Poppy were affected by what happened. Junie is still obsessed with finding the truth, Ruby has tried to move forward while clearly carrying a lot of trauma, and Poppy’s section finally starts filling in some of the biggest blanks.
The family dynamics were probably the strongest part for me. There is so much guilt, loyalty, resentment, and protectiveness tangled up between the sisters, and I liked that the story wasn’t just about solving the murders. It was also about how one terrible night completely changed all of their lives and how hard it is to know when protecting someone crosses the line into hiding the truth.
I also enjoyed how much suspicion the book creates. There are enough secrets and questionable behaviors that I found myself changing my mind more than once about who I trusted. The true-crime and media angle added another layer of pressure, especially as the sisters’ private trauma became something the public suddenly felt entitled to dissect.
The pacing was steady, and I thought the later sections were stronger than the beginning once more of the secrets started coming out. There were definitely some twists I didn’t see coming, although not every reveal landed with quite the impact I wanted.
Overall, She Is Lying was a solid psychological thriller with a great premise, messy family relationships, and enough twists to keep me interested. I liked it, especially the sister dynamics and multiple perspectives, but it didn’t quite reach that “couldn’t put it down” level for me. Still, a very enjoyable 3.5-star read.

Ruby is haunted by what she saw.

Because apparently the family drama wasn't public enough already.
I really liked the family-secret structure here.
The story gives you multiple timelines and perspectives to work with, and the question of what actually happened becomes more complicated as the sisters' secrets start coming out.
The strongest element for me was the relationship between the sisters.
There is clearly a lot of love there.
But there is also guilt, fear, resentment, and the knowledge that one truth could destroy everything.
Tropes included: family secrets, murder mystery, missing sister, tropical setting, multiple timelines, media scrutiny, hidden identity, sibling relationships, and psychological suspense.
Did they deliver?
Yes.
The premise was compelling and the family dynamics kept me interested.
There were moments where I wanted the pacing to move faster, but overall it kept me invested.

I’m a big fan of Caroline’s writing and I’m always excited to read her latest release, a massive thank you to Caroline for sending me the audiobook of She Is Lying.
This is a captivating tale of three sisters who we first meet whilst they are holiday in the Caribbean with their father. Throwing the reader straight into the action, the mystery begins with the murder of their father and the disappearance of Poppy, one of the sisters.
The chapters are broken up into ‘Hotter’ and “Colder”, and the reasoning for this becomes clearer around halfway through the book. Told from varying character POV’s throughout the book, the first half focuses on the disappearance of Poppy and the impact this has on the two remaining sisters, whilst the second half brings a lot more information and reveals - no spoilers! - and brings a satisfying and unexpected conclusion.
This book kept me guessing, the twists well and truly coming out of the blue, and with a steady pace throughout, the tension is maintained consistently. The Scottish narration was a nice touch to further bring the characters to life, not 100% sure on the Welsh accent for Emlyn though!

I spent the first chunk of this book completely hooked by the premise, only to find myself wishing the rest of the story moved with that same initial spark.
The story centres on three sisters—Junie, Ruby, and Poppy—whose Caribbean holiday turns tragic when their father and his girlfriend are murdered. Poppy vanishes into the night as the prime suspect, leaving Junie convinced of her innocence and Ruby haunted by what happened. Seven years later, Poppy is living under an assumed identity, Junie is still searching, and the entire tragedy gets dragged back into the public eye when their story becomes a massive TV documentary.
The opening hooked me straight away. I really enjoyed the tropical setting, the tangled family dynamics, and the immediate tension surrounding the murders. The multi-perspective structure brought genuine depth to the narrative, and Caroline Corcoran has an easy, readable writing style. I particularly liked the modern media angle with the TV sensation; it felt grounded and true to how true-crime cases explode in real life.
However, once the narrative jumped ahead seven years, the momentum ground to a halt. The middle section dragged significantly, and I found myself waiting around for the mystery to regain its footing. A few plot turns felt a little too convenient, and because the identity of the real killer felt obvious to me quite early on, I was mostly just reading on to see how the explanation would unfold.
While the author ties up the loose threads neatly, the final reveal felt somewhat anticlimactic and underdeveloped. Some of the police decisions regarding who to charge and who to let walk felt improbable to me, especially given the lack of evidence backing Eliza’s claim. It remains a compelling idea with a great hook, even if the middle and payoff did not quite match the strength of the opening.

What should have been a happy occasion quickly takes a devastating turn when their father (and his girlfriend) end up dead. Did Poppy truly kill their father? This story follows the search for the truth, no matter how deeply it’s buried.
While I was able to predict some of the twists and turns along the way, it never once prevented me from feeling invested in the story. Watching three sisters navigate trauma in such different ways felt incredibly realistic and added even more layers I wanted to peel back. Caroline Corcoran writes believable characters whose grief lingers and colors every part of their lives in a way that felt authentic.
The different POVs each had their own distinct voice, revealing just enough information to allow the reader to piece the mystery together alongside the characters. The narrator also did a wonderful job subtly changing her voice between perspectives, making it easy to know whose head we were in at any given moment. I’m a sucker for an accent, and this one was no exception, it made for a lovely listening experience.
The pacing never lulled, layering information in a way that kept me engaged without ever feeling rushed or drawn out. The story started off feeling a bit like Death in Paradise but from the point of view of the victims’ family rather than the detectives, however it soon turned into something so much better. Which made me glad.
3 sisters from Scotland are on holiday in the Caribbean with their father and his girlfriend . The youngest sister is missing and suspected of committing a double murder in the family’s luxury holiday villa.
Where is she? Why is she running away? And how do these murders link to the disappearance and death of sisters’ mother around a decade before?
Meanwhile the murder story is trending on social media and rumours are spreading fast.
7 years on, back in the UK, and the sisters’ story is being turned into a Netflix special.
The story is well read, and the narrator does an excellent job switching between many diverse and mostly believable accents.
The story takes place in both the Scottish Highlands and a small Caribbean island and I did wonder how the sisters could afford the multiple airfares to fly back and forwards at short notice between Saint Aurelie (?), London and Edinburgh.
I felt there were a couple of storylines that were not followed through, such as the unknown person who is watching and writing about the sisters on a live news blog, as well as the police detectives in the Caribbean, however, this didn’t distract from the enjoyment of listening to the book.
She is Lying is a really good read / listen, and therefore gets a good solid 4 stars from me.

@carolinecorcoranwriter new release had me gripped. I could not put it down, I read it in 3 days, it would've been faster if I didn't have to life and parent !
Everything a great thriller should be, dark, twisty, page turning with short snappy chapters, believable characters and it kept me guessing the whole way through, the ending didn't disappoint!
The whole story was so believable I was ready to look for the Netflix series in real life, at times it was so tense it had my heart racing.
If you are going to pack one book in your case this summer it needs to be this one !!

The premise of She Is Lying immediately grabbed my attention. What starts as a family vacation in the Caribbean ends in tragedy when Junie's father and his girlfriend are found dead, her sister Poppy disappears, and all signs point to her being responsible. Seven years later, the mystery is reignited when the case becomes the focus of a television special, forcing the three sisters to confront the secrets they've been keeping.
The story is told through the alternating perspectives of all three sisters, which helped build the mystery and slowly revealed what happened that night. The short chapters also kept the pages turning, even though the overall pacing was slower than I would have liked.
For me, this ended up being an okay read. I stayed invested enough to keep reading because I genuinely wanted to know what happened, but the story never fully pulled me in. I found this book to have me on the edge of my seat so many times. The disappearance of the youngest sister had me questioning the whole time did she really do this? Was she actually capable of doing this? Which then made me overanalyze the other characters that the oldest sister, Junie, had in the back of her mind that could be possible suspects.
After their story becomes a TV show, Junie and Ruby are brought back together in the search for their sister, 7 years later. I also enjoyed seeing how both sisters have changed over the years, for worse and for the better, and how grief can take over your life.
I never expected any twists that the author threw at us in this book. One minute I was suspecting one character did it, then the next minute I was reevaluating everything all over again. I will definitely be reading more of this authors books in the future!

Junie and her other sister Ruby know Poppy is innocent and are determined to find out the truth about that night. They set out to find Poppy before the rest of the world, including the police, does.
💭: This started off really good. Had all the hooks to make a great mystery and made you want to continue listening to find out the truth. This is when I have mixed feelings about this because I did love the strong start but felt the middle dragged a bit and became repetitive. There was really nothing exciting that happened while the search for Poppy was on and this is where I felt it dragged the story. It did pick up again towards the last quarter and I did appreciate how it wrapped up nicely in the end. Overall, this was just okay for me.
I will say I did enjoy the narrator and loved how they made the story come alive.

I especially enjoyed the relationship between the three sisters and slowly uncovering what really happened that night. There are so many layers of secrets, lies, loyalty, and sacrifice within this family, and I liked watching those pieces come together as the story moved between the sisters and their different experiences.
The audiobook narration worked really well for the story and helped distinguish the characters and their perspectives without ever becoming distracting.

I was hooked right away with a “dream vacation gone terribly wrong” setup. Three sisters go to the Caribbean, and within days their father and his girlfriend are murdered. One sister disappears, and everything points to her, but nothing is that simple.
I enjoyed reading the views from each sister. Junie refuses to give up searching for the truth even years later; Ruby is trying to build a normal life but is clearly still damaged by what happened; and Poppy is living under a new identity with secrets she’s desperate to keep buried. Seeing the same situation from all three sides kept me constantly second-guessing everything and everyone.
I genuinely didn’t know who to trust for most of the book, which made it really fun to read.
Overall, this is a twisty, addictive thriller with strong emotional layers. It kept me guessing almost until the end and made me question every character along the way.

Three sisters are on a Caribbean holiday with their dad and his girlfriend of whom they were unaware until they arrived at their destination. Two of the three are sunbathing when the police approach to inform them that their father, along with his girlfriend, are the victims of murder. The third sister has disappeared and it seems that she is the prime suspect in the crime.
I'm a huge fan of thrillers and this was a good one. It's set against the backdrop of a documentary about the crimes and the tension is strung tight as we are given each sister's point of view in sections of the story. The twists were unpredictable and gripping. I especially enjoyed the immersion in both the landscape of Scotland, where the sisters live, as well as the heat of the tropics as the sisters go back and forth between locations.
I liked the suspense, the red herrings, the settings, and the characters. I rated this a 4.5 star read and highly recommend it. I consumed this on audio book and recommend the narration in this production.

Set on a French Caribbean island, this story follows three sisters caught up in a devastating double murder that shatters their family, and it immediately pulled me in
I hadn’t read Caroline Corcoran’s work before this, and I can safely say that as someone who enjoys psychological murder mysteries with a destination thriller angle, the premise and prologue had me hooked. With its fast pace and short, punchy chapters, I flew through it in just a couple of sittings. I enjoyed the structure of the story, told from multiple viewpoints, and especially found the creative chapter titles effective in subtly mirroring the increasing tension in the story.
The main characters are well-rounded and add depth to the story, and even as someone who tends to go straight into detective mode, I found myself going along for the ride as the story delivered well-timed reveals and a few surprises I didn’t see coming.
While this didn't quite land as an all-time favourite for me, I’ll definitely be picking up more of Caroline Corcoran’s backlist after this, and I’m looking forward to whatever she releases next. This would be a great pick for fans of twisty murder mysteries with strong psychological and family drama elements.

She Is Lying was a twisty family thriller that kept me guessing! Three sisters are connected by a devastating vacation tragedy involving two murders, a missing sister, and secrets that have been buried for seven years. I really enjoyed the way the story moved between the sisters and gradually revealed what happened that night, with the added complication of their story becoming a television sensation. There were plenty of secrets and twists along the way, and I was definitely curious to see how everything would come together. Katherine Littrell did a great job narrating and gave the story the right amount of tension while keeping the different characters easy to follow. Overall, this was an entertaining and suspenseful listen that I would recommend to fans of family mysteries. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
