Three sisters. Two murders. One terrifying secret …

It’s 2018 and Junie Winter and her family arrive on Saint Aurelie in the Caribbean for what should be a week in paradise. Within days, their father and his girlfriend are dead. Sister Poppy vanishes into the thin air and is soon the lead suspect of the crimes, shattering their once close family dynamic. All the evidence points to her, but Junie refuses to believe it.

As Junie enters 2025, she is still searching for Poppy. Failed sightings have taken her all over the UK and Europe to no avail. Their other sister Ruby has attempted to move on by getting married and having a child, but she remains haunted by what she witnessed. Her husband is suspiciously angry at the mention of her sisters and life before the Caribbean trip. And Poppy? She has unknowingly been living under a new identity, carrying a secret that could destroy them all …

When their story reaches podcasters and then Netflix, it becomes a TV sensation and the world wants answers. They face an impossible task in trying to protect each other, try to find Poppy and finally learn the truth. But in a family which we discover is built on lies and sacrifice, the truth of the past and present might be the most dangerous thing of all …

Told across three acts, each sister is the focus of a single act. First is Junie and is mainly situated on the holiday, pre and post murders and the subsequent investigation by the police, as well as the amateur one lead by herself. Act two is lead by Ruby and follows how the crimes and Poppy’s disappearance has affected the relationship between her and Junie, her mental health as well her relationship with her fiance at the time, now husband Em, as well as the influence this all has on her daughter. The third and final act is from the POV of Poppy and her life living under the radar. It was extremely powerful and such an excellent writing technique by CC! It was so good seeing each of their different emotions and feelings and provided opportunities to question if Poppy was capable of such terrible crimes? I suspected absolutely everyone as being the murderer!

Amazing character development and the description of Saint Aurelie was perfection! I genuinely had no clue who to trust up until the final few chapters which made this so enjoyable! The use of ‘hotter/colder’ (as in the game) at the beginning of each chapter was also an amazing tension building technique that was so blooming original!

A very twisty, fast-paced psychological thriller with tension, red herrings and suspense galore! I was immediately drawn to the story from the blurb and the prologue did not let this down! A perfect, highly recommended summer read! ☀️

She Is Lying is a gripping, sun‑drenched thriller that begins in paradise and quickly curdles into something far darker. What should have been a carefree Caribbean holiday becomes the defining fracture in the Whitmore sisters’ lives — two murders, one disappearance, and a secret that refuses to loosen its grip even seven years later.

Junie is the emotional centre of the novel, still searching for answers long after everyone else has tried to move on. Her refusal to accept the official story — that her sister Poppy vanished into the night after killing their father and his girlfriend — gives the book its heartbeat. There’s a quiet desperation to her persistence, a sense that she’s chasing not just the truth but the version of her family that might have existed if that night had ended differently.

Ruby, the sister who stayed, carries her own ghosts. Her attempts to build a life around what she witnessed feel fragile, like something that could shatter with a single wrong memory. And then there’s Poppy — living under a new name, carrying a secret heavy enough to warp every choice she’s made since. Her chapters are some of the most compelling, filled with the tension of someone who knows the past is coming for her, no matter how far she runs.

When their story becomes a TV sensation, the novel shifts into a sharper, more claustrophobic gear. The world wants answers. The sisters want survival. And the truth — the real truth — threatens to destroy them all. The author handles this collision beautifully, exploring the way trauma twists through a family, how loyalty can become its own kind of prison, and how dangerous honesty can be when everyone has something to lose.

Atmospheric, emotionally charged, and layered with suspicion, She Is Lying is a story about sisters bound by love, guilt, and the lies they’ve told to protect one another. A compulsive read that keeps its secrets close until the very last moment.

This story which is set on a French Island in the Caribbean called Saint Aurélie, follows three sisters who end up involved in a double murder investigation which shatters their family dynamic.

I found this book to have me on the edge of my seat so many times. The disappearance of the youngest sister had me questioning the whole time did she really do this? Was she actually capable of doing this? Which then made me overanalyze the other characters that the oldest sister, Junie, had in the back of her mind that could be possible suspects.

After their story becomes a TV show, Junie and Ruby are brought back together in the search for their sister, 7 years later. I also enjoyed seeing how both sisters have changed over the years, for worse and for the better, and how grief can take over your life.

I never expected any twists that the author threw at us in this book. One minute I was suspecting one character did it, then the next minute I was reevaluating everything all over again. I will definitely be reading more of this authors books in the future!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher Amazon Publishing UK for 4-star read!

I was hooked right away with a “dream vacation gone terribly wrong” setup. Three sisters go to the Caribbean, and within days their father and his girlfriend are murdered. One sister disappears, and everything points to her, but nothing is that simple.
I enjoyed reading the views from each sister. Junie refuses to give up searching for the truth even years later; Ruby is trying to build a normal life but is clearly still damaged by what happened; and Poppy is living under a new identity with secrets she’s desperate to keep buried. Seeing the same situation from all three sides kept me constantly second-guessing everything and everyone.
I genuinely didn’t know who to trust for most of the book, which made it really fun to read.
Overall, this is a twisty, addictive thriller with strong emotional layers. It kept me guessing almost until the end and made me question every character along the way.

Set on a French Caribbean island, this story follows three sisters caught up in a devastating double murder that shatters their family, and it immediately pulled me in

I hadn’t read Caroline Corcoran’s work before this, and I can safely say that as someone who enjoys psychological murder mysteries with a destination thriller angle, the premise and prologue had me hooked. With its fast pace and short, punchy chapters, I flew through it in just a couple of sittings. I enjoyed the structure of the story, told from multiple viewpoints, and especially found the creative chapter titles effective in subtly mirroring the increasing tension in the story.

The main characters are well-rounded and add depth to the story, and even as someone who tends to go straight into detective mode, I found myself going along for the ride as the story delivered well-timed reveals and a few surprises I didn’t see coming.

While this didn't quite land as an all-time favourite for me, I’ll definitely be picking up more of Caroline Corcoran’s backlist after this, and I’m looking forward to whatever she releases next. This would be a great pick for fans of twisty murder mysteries with strong psychological and family drama elements.

Thanks to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Like her previous book, I was able to sit back and fully enjoy the story as it unfolded. Engaging psychological thriller, with murder, intricately secrets, lies, and twists.

What starts as a family vacation quickly turns deadly when two people are found murdered and one sister goes missing.
Poppy’s point of view had me constantly on edge—I felt like I was right there with her, second-guessing everything and looking over my shoulder.

Nearly a decade later, the sisters are still searching for answers about what really happened, with their story now thrust into the spotlight through a televised retelling.
The question becomes: how far will they go to protect one another?

The twists caught me completely off guard, which made the ride even more enjoyable. Overall, I really liked this one.

Thank you Thomas & Mercer, and Netgalley for the ARC.

A family trip goes seriously awry when three sisters discover that their father and his girlfriend have died a few days into their holiday. To make matters worse, one of the sisters disappears in the aftermath, raising suspicions about whether she played any role in what happened.

Of the remaining duo, one manages to eventually move on to a semblance of normal life but the other, Junie, remains stuck in those past events. While Ruby now wants to put everything behind her, Junie is determined to find their sister Poppy.

But Poppy doesn't want to be found. Not that any of them are likely to have many choices regarding privacy when their story becomes part of a TV program that attracts considerable attention...

This is an engaging story that offers many twists and turns. It easily earns 3.5 stars.

Caroline Corcoran's latest novel was intense!

Junie, Poppy, and Ruby are sisters who have the closest of relationships. On a vacation in the Caribbean, their father and his new girlfriend are murdered and the only suspect is Poppy. Before she can be arrest, she disappears without a trace. For Ruby, life goes on - she marries and has a daughter. But Junie is unable to believe that Poppy would commit the murders and spends years looking for her lost sister; the search consumes her. When a true crime television show revives the story, and the sisters get ever closer to finding Poppy, the question of who committed the murders has to be answered.

This book was fast-paced and kept my interest throughout. I loved the sisters' relationship - it reminded me of my love of my sister and the lengths we would go to protect each other. I really liked how the author kept me guessing. Just when I thought I had it figured out, there was a new clue that changed everything. It definitely kept me guessing. And I did not guess the ending... wow! There were a few places that dragged a bit for me, but overall, it moved along nicely. I would definitely read more by this author.

Overall, 4 ⭐s!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing / Thomas & Mercer for an advanced copy of this novel. It's scheduled to be published on August 14, 2026.

She is lying by Caroline Corcoran is about 3 sisters and the murder of their father & his girlfriend whilst on holiday in the Caribbean. The youngest sister is the main suspect as she flees back to the UK and disappears. Seven years later she is still missing and their story has been turned into a tv series. I liked the relationship of the sisters and that the story is told from each sisters POV.
