Powell surveys the wonders and teachings associated with this treasure from Christianity's mystical past, spanning the Greek philosophers, King Solomon, Hildegard von Bingen, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the Virgin Mary.
It was great to learn more about ancient feminine aspects of world religion, many of which have been obscured since the turn of the twentieth century. Truthfully, I kept seeing mentions of Sophia on Tik Tok and wanted to explore more. But even more so, I’ve been wanting to do a deep dive on my spiritual beliefs. The whole concept of thinking of God as some man in the sky feels… icky. I have free flowing concepts of spirituality but wanted to dig deeper into diverse belief systems and mythology. This was a great opportunity to hear stories about Demeter and Persephone, Isis and Osiris, the different astrological ages, the creation of Earth, our Lady Guadalupe, etc. as I ponder these energies. The spiritual side of humanity and history is so alive and interesting.
I learned great takeaways and could see how many epochs in the Earth’s history connect together and continue to unfold. Do I agree with everything? No, but I loved the history, mysticism, and diverse philosophical/spiritual facets this book proposed.
This book was a wonderful look at one of the most mysterious theological figures; the Christian divine feminine. While it didn't answer all of my questions, it was a relatively simple but thorough read and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about Sophia or opening their mind to the feminine aspect of the Godhead. It contains prayers and meditations on the divine feminine which I was especially grateful for.
I listened to these tapes-yes tapes, some time ago. I still have the set and just recently started to listen to them again. In Sophia he speaks eloquently about the Blessed Mother and the emergence of the Divine feminine.
