Hit & Run: A Dark Enemies to Lovers Rom-Com

I fight crime by night and watch cute animal videos by day. Just call me your modern day superhero. Kidding, but how fun would that be?

My name is Parker Presley, and I am a professional Bounty Hunter for a supersecret government organization called, The Blood Sport Agency, in New York City. It’s not as scary as it sounds, as long as your name doesn’t appear on my radar. Because as much as I joke, I can say with absolute confidence, I am very good at what I do.

Only the elite and wealthy of Manhattan have our number. The agency scrutinizes every request. Many get rejected. The process is painstakingly boring until the accepted bounties hit my inbox. That’s when it’s my time to play!

With the help from my team, Tac, Connor, Ophelia, and the Sparrows, we chase and find the bad guys for, at minimum, six-figure rewards. Which I had collected only days before everything flips upside down, figuratively and literally speaking. You’ll see what I mean.

The deliciousness that is my new neighbor reveals himself in the rudest way. He’s horribly infuriating and delightfully distracting, which changes nothing and everything at the same time. l quickly come to learn that the more I can make him tick, the happier I get. Which is fine until his name is the next one in my inbox.

The price is unresistable and Mr. Holden Hammer, it seems like you killed the wrong person from the wrong family, because your serial killer sins are so worthy of my attention. You better watch out, because now I’m coming for you. And once I get you, that’s when the real fun begins.

Don’t worry my new friends, don’t feel left out, for the right price I’d chase you too!

*This is a Dark, Enemies to Lovers, Opposites Attract, Found Family RomCom Duet with Lots of Banter.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC Review – Hit & Run by Kinsley Kincaid

I went into Hit & Run expecting a dark enemies-to-lovers romance, but what I got was an absolutely chaotic, laugh-out-loud, unhinged ride that I couldn’t put down.

Parker is hands down one of the most entertaining FMCs I’ve read in a long time. Her inner monologue had me cracking up, and her constant ability to get under Holden’s skin made every interaction between them pure gold. Their banter is sharp, hilarious, and packed with chemistry from the very beginning.

Holden is the perfect grumpy, morally questionable hero. He’s intense, completely unhinged in the best way, and somehow still impossible not to love. The dynamic between him and Parker kept me hooked from start to finish.

Beyond the romance, the side characters, found family vibes, and unique cast brought so much life to the story. Every character felt distinct and added something memorable to the plot.

The pacing was fantastic, balancing humor, darkness, tension, and romance without ever dragging. Just when I thought I knew where things were heading, the story threw surprises my way that kept me turning pages.

If you love dark rom-coms, enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine, found family, chaotic heroines, and morally gray characters, this book needs to be on your TBR.

And that ending? Let’s just say I’ll be impatiently waiting for the next book.

Tropes:
🖤 Enemies to Lovers
🖤 Grumpy x Sunshine
🖤 Found Family
🖤 Dark Rom-Com
🖤 Bounty Hunter FMC
🖤 Morally Gray MMC
🖤 Banter for Days

Thank you to Kinsley Kincaid for the ARC. All opinions are my own. 💚📚

This is one of the funniest books I’ve read in a while and even though I’ve read it a few times already, it still makes me laugh out loud every time and keeps just getting better and better.

I love Parker as a character, she’s relatable (who doesn’t love a good raccoon video) and chaotic in the funniest way, and I love her inner thoughts she might or might not speak out loud lol. She keeps purposefully pushing Holden’s buttons and I’m here for it.

I love how Parker keeps breaking the fourth wall and speaking straight to the reader. I think it fits both the character and story perfectly.

Holden, the pompous grumpy asshole, is growing on me and I love how disturbed he is by Parker and basically everything Parker does. Mr. Carlisle is the best comedic relief you could hope for and I live for his commentary. Him and Holden started their friendship (if you can call it that) with interesting circumstances and they’re an unlikely duo, but they work well together.

The found family aspect was great and the side characters were great addition to the storyline. I love the friendly banter between the team and Parker and how well they work together.

The pacing was fast without being rushed and the storyline kept me hooked. And that ending! I’m so ready for the next book!

Thank you Kinsley for letting me both ARC & beta read this book! 🫶🏼

This book had me laughing from beginning to end and quickly became one of my favorite reads of the year. The humor is perfectly balanced with heart, creating a story that is both wildly entertaining and surprisingly emotional.
Parker is an absolute standout protagonist—chaotic, hilarious, and incredibly relatable. Her inner monologue had me constantly smiling, and her habit of pushing Holden’s buttons never got old. The fourth-wall breaks added so much personality and made me feel even more connected to the story.
Holden is the perfect grumpy counterpart to Parker’s energy. Watching their dynamic unfold was one of the highlights of the book. Their banter is sharp, funny, and filled with chemistry. Mr. Carlisle also deserves a special mention because every scene he appeared in was pure comedic gold.
Beyond the humor, I loved the found-family element and the strong supporting cast. The relationships between the characters felt genuine, and the team dynamic added warmth and depth to the story. The pacing was excellent—fast enough to keep me hooked but never rushed—and every chapter left me wanting more.
The ending was fantastic and left me eagerly waiting for the next installment. If you enjoy laugh-out-loud humor, unforgettable characters, witty banter, and found-family vibes, this book is a must-read. Highly recommend!

Thank you to Kinsley Kincaid and Greys Promotions for the ARC in exchange for my 2 cents. 🫶🏻

This book was an absolute blast from start to finish. I laughed out loud more times than I can count, and once I started reading, I couldn't put it down.

Parker is chaotic, completely unhinged, and ridiculously entertaining. Her inner monologue had me literally laughing out loud, and her commitment to winding people up deserves an award.

Then there's Holden. A completely immoral psychopath who seems to hate every person he encounters. He's the grumpiest grump to ever grump, yet somehow his insults and constant battles with Parker had me laughing just as much as she did.

The chemistry between them is pure chaos. They hate each other, love provoking each other, and their constant back-and-forth made this one of the most enjoyable reads I've had since Kinsley's last book.

The writing is so addictive that I'm convinced Kinsley slipped something into the pages. Every chapter had me needing just one more.

Add in a cast of genuinely lovable side characters and an ending plot twist that left me desperate for answers, and now I'm counting down the days until Book 2. Kinsley, please hurry.🙌🏻🖤

ARC Review

Kinsley has remained my favorite author for the longest. There isn’t a Kinsley book I’ve read and I haven’t loved.

That being said…

Dare I say, favorite meet cute in a book?😂

Parker Redacted Presley is a bada** bounty hunter who is freaking hilarious. Her meet cute with Holden was priceless.
Being his neighbor and being able to pester him every chance she gets making his life hell made their meeting that much more hilarious. Her inner monologues and quick wit had me cracking up.

Holden Hammer is a psychopathic serial k*ller with OCD and HATES everyone..except his best friend Mr.Carlisle.
They bring out the best in each other. One is the voice of reason and the other..
..is a bit temperamental. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
And unfortunately..
his name has ended up on Parker’s list.

This book was fast paced, full of wit and sass. NOT TO MENTION…that cliff hanger Kinsley??? DIABOLICAL.

This book does have dark humor and dark moments so please check triggers. 🫶🏼

Thank you for letting me have this arc. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of the year. 🖤

The concept of a forbidden romance between a bounty hunter and a serial killer instantly piqued my interest, leaving me eager to see how such a chaotic dynamic would play out and who would fall first. From the opening pages, Parker stole the show, injecting a perfect dose of warmth and laughter into this intensely dark romcom. On the other hand, Holden is a slower burn who takes some getting used to. I’m incredibly curious about what makes him tick, and I truly hope the next installment dives deeper into his psyche to reveal what lies beneath his rough exterior.
This fast-paced, addictive read completely pulls you in, keeping you guessing with every single turn of the page. The unpredictable plot builds up to a jaw-dropping cliffhanger that left me quite literally gasping for breath. I didn't see that ending coming from a mile away, and frankly, what the fuck? I need the next book in my hands right now.

You know when you’re in a reading slump after that really intense dark read? This book just might get you out of it 🫣

I tittered and I scoffed quite a few times, our FMC is a bounty hunter, her banter and banal comments just made this book a joy to read. Our MMC, a s3rial k!ller (because he can) is just a total 🤔 I want to say a lot of things about him and his attitude but it’s best if you read that yourself, though he does have conversations with ‘his friend’. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all fun and frivolity, nope, they are both m^*ders in their own unique way…

Seriously, I so enjoyed this one it flows through seamlessly, all the characters have their own personalities which totally works. The storyline gives us insights into a back plot that works alongside the fore interconnecting the two MCs, it’s like a simmering pot waiting to boil over and that ending, what a twist 👀 I simply can’t wait for the next one.

🔥

So I really struggled with the first half of this book, and the way that the FMC kept talking to us as a reader and then going back. I feel this is definitely a me issue and not the books.
But because of this I really struggled to keep with the story and interact with the characters.

With saying this, the second half of the book 60% on I would say, I started to enjoy the story more and the way the characters were. And definitely want to read book two to see how it all ends!

The Story line was good and it definitely worked. The Rom-Com was brilliant. And the liked the FMC as her, she was feisty and had brilliant banter & the MMC, OCD king but loves to kill, what a miss match but it worked so well for him.
I really wish I was able to get over the 4th wall parts so I could have enjoyed it more.

This was such a funny and fast paced read. I loved Parker as a character, she’s hilarious and super chaotic in the most funniest way!!
She purposefully kept pushing Holden’s buttons. I actually enjoyed them breaking the fourth wall and talking directly to the readers.

Holden was just a pompous grumpy asshole who wanted to be left to serial 🔪 in peace in the company of his bestie Mr. Carlisle. Which in turn became my new bestie because his commentary won me over.

I absolutely loved how much Holden was disturbed by Parker 🤣 and how much Parker wanted to disturb his peace. Parker’s team and the found family aspect was so great. Their funny banter was everything while working together. And that ending!!! I couldn’t believe it was over and now i’m itching for the next book so I really hope it’s soon 😩

Thank you Kinsley and team for allowing me the honor to enjoy this book 🫶🏼

Yall !! Blood Sport Agency Duet is an experience of its own. I promise, you have NEVER met characters such as the CHARACTERS in this adventure.

Holden “The Hammer” is a different breed. No one else’s brain functions like this man. He is eerily entertaining and my favorite kinda strange

Mr. Carlisle is the voice of reason. Why shouldn’t you hang out with a dead man in a bucket hat who post up like a true OG with a gansta lean.

Parker REDACTED Presley , LISTEN her whole sense of purpose is just one big turn on for me. She is unapologetically funny and fierce. Despite our differences with the woodlands .. Parker and I were meant to be
🦝
And guys the good time you’re guaranteed to have doesn’t just stop with these 3 … the Blood Sport team is a found family of fools and thats just keeping it 💯.

Guys... genuinely dont know what i just read 😂🙈
A dark (ish imo) rom com x unhinged mentally ill MMC with some racoon chat along the way 😂
I struggled to rate this one, i think the bones are there for a really great plot but I have come away from reading this one feeling so confused and conflicted that I just dont know what to do with myself!
Cliffhanger ending with a surprising twist at the end... would I read on? Yes, I would 👌
Bounty hunter x serial killer, low spice (again imo, maybe I was expecting more heat?), enemies to lovers with a fabulous lift dry humping scene even if we had to wait until nearly 80% for it!
Clearly an unhinged and unwell MMC, took me a while to get my head around who he spent most of the book talking to...
Equally wild FMC who is hired to capture said madman! What could go wrong?

Thank you Kinsley Kincaid and Grey's Promo for the ARC

Hit & Run is one of the most unhinged, wth is going on, stories I've read and I enjoyed every second of it. Kinsley Kincaid really immerses you with such descriptive and chaotic thoughts the MCs have. Parker is a bounty hunter going after Holden, a serial killer. This dude is a PSYCHOPATH, forget morally grey, Holden is one big WTF is wrong with you?! 😂 Parker is one hot mess, her inner thoughts, sometimes not so inner thoughts, are hilarious and hella chaotic. Throughout most of the book I was wondering how there could possibly be romance between these two.. trust the process. It is first of a duology and ends in a cliffhanger, I need book two now!

Think dark, twisted humour with a mix of fourth wall breaks and a lot of sexual tension. That is Parker and Holden.

This book perfectly sums up the “dark rom-com” genre. I was absolutely laughing at some of the scenes in this book, but equally as grossed/creeped out in others. (I read the needle scene with one eye open because I was getting full body shivers.) I loved how effortlessly kinsley made the dark aspects balance with the humour. 100% my type of book. Be prepared for a cliffhanger!

A massive MASSIVE thank you to Kinsley for the ARC as an early birthday present. I am INSANELY grateful for this copy to cherish 🩷🩷🩷

Parker is amazing, i absolutely love her,her inner monologue and generally everything about her-she is a bounty hunter with adhd and a love of possum’s jumping on trampolines (girl after my own heart)
She has a similar feral inner dialogue to myself-i also find myself hilarious 🤣

Holden is an actual psychopath with ocd, hes murderous and completely mental but i kind of love him.

This story had me kicking my feet with tears rolling down my cheeks laughing-it is dark don’t get me wrong but it’s also fantastic. The twist? I hope you are ready!

If i had to describe this book i would say unhinged and hilarious and i could not put it down. Easiest 5 star rating ever.

Oh my where do I even start with how this book made me feel? It made me laugh my ass off. It brought me a bestie Mr Carlisle. It added Holden to my roster of men I collect of Kinsley’s. He can get it. This book truly is such a fun time and will have you laughing so hard. Kinsley has a way at writing characters that stick with you for life and these def will! It’s not even just the main ones either. It’s the side characters also who stick with you. I had the best time reading it multiple times 🤭 love you queen!

This book definitely is exactly what you think of when you hear "Dark rom com." Parker enjoys annoying Holden and I couldn't stop laughing at it. Parker is so relatable and funny with her cute animal videos. I love that fourth wall break from Parker speaking directly to the reader. I feel like it fits her character perfectly. The both of them are definitely unhinged, but in the best way! The plot twist... definitely did not see that coming! It does end on a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read the second book and find out what happens. Thank you for the chance to arc read it!

Thank you to Kins for allowing me to read this early.
I honestly loved the humour in this book, the FMC is so chaotic it’s great - her spirit animal would defo be a raccoon!
The amount of emotion on this book took me out like the spider monkey move. But honestly yes.

The Mental Health/ OCD rep in this book is *chefs kiss* I love books that can share light!

I love the way the FMC and MMC are talking to the reader (I know not everyone likes this but I love it!)

I need book 2 in my hands now because… what the fuck I did NOT see that twist coming

Well, definitely was not expecting that twist at the end! Parker is a delightful little psycho and had me cackling. Uptight Holden just doesn’t know how to handle her and it’s making him loose his self contained little life. I am totally here for the chaos gremlin that is Parker Presley.
