ARC Review of Naughty Book

I give it 4/5⭐️ and 3/5🌶️.
I went through so many emotions while reading this book. From happy to sad to angry to relieved to satisfied….
The first half of this book was AMAZING, and then came the shock. The second half broke me😭. In the end, the epilogue saved it, because it was so sweet.
There was one thing I did not like : the “I love you” from both of them came way too soon for me.
Overall I loved this story and the characters development was really well done.

Universal

Saylor's honeymoon was of the non-refundable kind, so she had to go on it - alone. Alone because her sleazy ex's gambling had a Bratva thug come after her to pay her ex's debts. She's supposed to be getting away to an island paradise, but on the plane meets an older hot guy who's going to upend her life, in ways she's not sure she can handle. Mal gives serious daddy vibes, and she's so here for it!

Mal promised Saylor a life back when they quickly got married, but it's a life now he's not sure he can give her. He's going through the worst experience one could think of, and he's quite unused to being able to lean on someone other than his mom for support. But if he wants to keep Saylor, he'll need to figure out how to open himself up to her, to love.

Saylor and Mal had a lot of issues to work through on their journey. A lot of pain, and a lot of healing. Their chemistry is super spicy, and though their kink isn't my jam, their vibe is delicious. Mal's bandmates are a lot, especially Leif, and I can't wait for their stories to come.

Quick Summary: A lick & stick, age gap, rocker romance

My Review: Lick It Up by Gillian Archer is book #1 in A Long Licks Rock Stars Romance series. It is scheduled for release on 4/16/26.

About the Book: “Lick It Up kicks off the Long Licks series. Grab this angsty, elopement with a rock star, age gap, spicy romance about two people finding themselves and love despite tragedy coming at them from every direction.”

In My Own Words: An OG rocker on a journey of sobriety meets the love of his life while vacationing away from the concert crowds and the never ending spotlight. She just so happens to be on a journey of her own, seeking respite and refuge after surviving a horrific encounter concerning her ex.

About the Characters: The Long Licks are definitely a band that I really want to know. They seem to be a colorful group, and I am totally here for it. Who they are before the tragedy that rocks them and who they are after says so much. I am glad there is a mothering presence available for them. (I’ll stop there)

About the Couple: Mal and Saylor were quite the matchup. They fell fast and hard. The daddy-baby girl vibes were certainly vibing…until they weren’t. It all made for good reading. What I will say is that they both found something special together, even as they were healing in their own ways.

About the Conflicts/Toxicity/Dysfunctional Relationships: This book had a crazy conflict arc. Ghosts of the past and present were aimed right at Mal and Saylor. I loved that they each had their own challenges, while at the same time, they had messy drama that they had to deal with together. Together is the operative word.

Conflict related to mental anguish, substance issues, parental control issues and pressure, violence, and more.

The dark twist was on point. I did not see that coming. (I cannot say anything else about it, lest I spoil it.)

My Final Say: I adore rocker romances. This one was a pretty good start to a new and coming series. It was tension-filled and challenging on many fronts. The leads were unexpected yet likable, in their own ways. As they grew to know each other, all while navigating their circumstances, it was easy to see things working out for them.

That epilogue was something else. Okay!

Also, umm… Paige and Leif. Yes. Please. Thank you very much. Let’s go!!!

Other: Readers who enjoy rocker romances, insta love stories, age gap scenarios, and found family relationships will like this book.

Lick it up

Age and youth…together?

💕📚⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📚💕

Saylor and Malcolm and definitely right up my alley. Rock star, hurt comfort and an age gap. Perfect for this fan of Gillian Archer. Being the most unlikely pair but somehow it works. The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some have quick witted story lines that are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors blurb: I left for my “honeymoon” solo but came home married to a rock star. Oh boy.

My entire world collapses a week before my wedding.
My ex is not the man I thought he was, and I have the shiner to prove it.
Heartbroken, I board my honeymoon flight alone and spend my days sitting on the beach, wondering how I never saw it coming.
Enter Mal.

I’m not sure how I didn’t recognize the biggest guitar player in the world.

I just know I feel safe in his arms, and he’s as different from my ex as can be gentle, giving, spontaneous.

Planning to marry someone I thought I knew didn’t work, so why not marry a stranger?

But when his world gets rocked in the worst possible way, and he goes back on the promises he made to me on that beach, I have to choose between stability and the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me…for all the right reasons.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know you’re 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

When she is blindsided, literally, with some harsh truths about her fiance, Saylor cancels the wedding she has been planning for years. Unable to get a refund on their honeymoon to Fiji, she decides to go anyways, but when she realizes that she’s essentially on her own at a couples resort, things get awkward. Until the older surfer looking dude comes to her rescue, sitting with her in the dining room and distracting her from the mess that is her life. As they spend more time together, she finds out that he’s a famous rockstar, but shows her how gentle and caring he is, opening her up to a world of new experiences, and when he gets down on one knee to declare his love, she can’t help but agree to marry him. But when life crashes down around them, will the promises he made become a thing of dreams?

Mal didn’t come to Fiji looking for love, instead he came for some peace and quiet after finishing his band’s latest tour. Feeling the exhaustion of maintaining his sobriety when surrounded by temptation in greenrooms and afterparties, a couple weeks in paradise are exactly what he needed. Until he met Saylor, and everything changed. After an awkward flight where he failed to hide his attraction, he felt protective of her from the minute they landed, and when he saw her sitting alone, he had to join her. But that protectiveness quickly turned into a need for more, and he found himself falling faster than either could have predicted. When he promised her forever, he meant it, but when his life falls apart those promises become harder to keep.

I received an early copy of this book from Naughty Nook and really enjoyed it. While the first half was definitely over the top instalove, watching them fall authentically was so refreshing. The second half, when everything changed, was heartbreaking to read. Having Mal fall apart while Saylor tried to keep him together, only to be pushed away made her rightfully question everything, and he definitely needed a few wake up calls to see what he was doing to them. I wish some parts had been covered more in depth, like the drama with Naomi, but overall the story was a great one.

Lick It Up
by Gillian Archer

This first book of the series introduces readers to Saylor Tate and Malcolm (Mal) Holt, two compelling characters whose lives intertwine in unexpected ways. This age-gap rockstar romance dives deep into the intricacies of love, self-discovery, and the transformative power of second chances.

Saylor has always envisioned a fairytale life with her fiancé, believing him to be her ideal partner. However, just days before their wedding, she uncovers his true nature, a revelation that shatters her illusions and forces her to rethink everything she thought she knew about love and commitment. In a bold move, she cancels the wedding and decides to embrace her planned honeymoon in on a tropicl island alone, seeking solace and adventure away from the heartache of her recent past.

On the other hand, Malcolm Holt, a talented guitarist known for his rockstar lifestyle, is struggling to navigate the chaos of his career and personal life. With a history of indulgence that threatens his health and future, he is determined to stay on the straight and narrow. At the same time, he is grappling with the temptation of old habits and the pressure of living up to his musical ambitions.

As their paths cross on the sun-soaked beaches Saylor and Malcolm are drawn to each other in a whirlwind of passion and connection. Their relationship blossoms against the backdrop of stunning landscapes and vibrant nightlife, with the age-gap adding a layer of complexity to their growing bond. Amidst the thrill of insta-love, both characters must confront their fears, insecurities, and the ghosts of their pasts.

The Story weaves together themes of romance, personal growth, and the challenges of trusting again. Gillian Archer creates a rich tapestry of emotions, keeping readers on the edge of their seats and yearning for more. I am excited to see what unfolds in the rest of this series!

Review: DNF @ 20% — Wasted Potential and Cringe-Inducing Tropes

I was really looking forward to a story about a woman reclaiming her independence by going on her honeymoon alone, but that empowerment was immediately undercut. Instead of a strong lead, she is framed as a victim who needs "rescuing" just for eating dinner by herself.

The writing and character dynamics were a massive hurdle for me. By page 40, the "Daddy kink" was already dialed to an uncomfortable level, especially when paired with the hero calling her eyes "innocent." It felt unsettling and "PDF adjacent" rather than romantic.

Specific issues that led to my DNF:
The Dialogue: The "ick" factor was high with lines like, "Thank you for the nutrition lecture, Daddy," and the MMC calling her "baby girl"while clutching his chest.

Lack of Logic: When the hero explicitly tells her why he has to stop kissing her, she is "momentarily confused" as to why he stopped. It’s as if she doesn't comprehend speaking; it felt like a forced way to get her to notice his "bulge" rather than having a natural conversation.

The Writing Style:Lines like, "His luscious lips parted and he made a growling humming sound that had me clenching my thighs together," felt like a reach for "spice" that wasn't earned or realistic.

Patronizing Tropes: I hated the hero’s overgeneralization that most "girls" are just after "sex, clout, or money." It’s a tired, "grown-ass man" perspective that is the opposite of romantic. It's clearly leading to the 'not like other girls' trope that is not something I want to hear.

Ultimately, there is no plot movement here. At nearly 20% in, it’s clear the story is just a vehicle for tropes that I find gross. If you value character depth and a solid storyline over instant, unearned "spice," I’d skip this one.

Saylor’s life should be at a high as she’s going to get ready to marry her fiancée until she bumps into the Russian mob. Soon she realizes that trying to always do the right thing and please everyone else is getting her no where. Mal is used to women throwing themselves at him. As part of one of the biggest rock bands of the time he’s lived the epitome of the “sex, drugs and rock and roll” moniker but lately it seems like it’s all too much and everything is spiraling. These two meet up in a most unusual way, but their chemistry sparks red hot right from the start (4/5 heat) and is intensified by the fantasy of being on an island. Soon real life rears its ugly head and things become intense in a big way.
This is book one in the Long Licks Rock Stars series by this author, and definitely more spicy (4/5) than the other celebrity/ “average joe¨ (or Jill on this case) books by this author. There is a baby girl/daddy situation going on between Mal and Saylor, that may not be to everyone’s taste, but I felt it was tastefully done and a nice way to emphasize the heat between them. I also like the fact that even though there is a bit of an instalove situation that is occurring between Mal and Taylor, which is especially evident in the first part (the fantasy of celebrity if you will) the author also shows the realities of living in the spotlight and the difficulties that arrive because of it. There’s also realistic scenarios involving someone who’s struggling with sobriety, especially after a death, which makes this couple even more relatable. My only complaint is the second half of the book seemed more rushed, but still a nice, quick, age gap , celebrity romance. I received an advance review of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

4.25/5...This one is messy, emotional, impulsive—and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it so addictive. The premise alone pulls you in fast: a broken engagement, a solo honeymoon, and somehow…coming home married to a rock star. It sounds chaotic (because it is), but the story leans into that chaos in the best way. The emotional fallout from the heroine’s past relationship is handled with surprising depth, especially in those early chapters where you really feel her heartbreak and disorientation. Mal is exactly the kind of love interest this story needs—larger than life on the surface, but grounded in a quiet, steady way when it matters. The contrast between him and her ex isn’t just obvious, it’s meaningful. He represents safety, spontaneity, and a chance to rewrite what love looks like, and their chemistry? Immediate, intense, and believable despite the whirlwind setup. The “marry a stranger” trope could have felt far-fetched, but it works here because of the emotional context. It’s not just reckless—it’s healing, desperate, and a little hopeful. Their beach connection is one of the strongest parts of the book, giving their relationship a foundation that carries through even when things start to unravel. The spice is solid, the age gap dynamic adds another layer of tension, and the overall vibe balances escapism with emotional weight. If there’s anything holding it back from a higher rating, it’s that some of the conflict leans a bit heavy on miscommunication tropes, and a few moments could have used more nuance. Still, it’s a gripping, angsty romance that’s easy to binge. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

5 ⭐ Review of Lick It Up by Gillian Archer

This book completely pulled me in from the very first page and did not let go.
What starts as heartbreak and betrayal turns into something so unexpected and honestly kind of magical. Watching the main character go from shattered and questioning everything to slowly finding herself again felt so real and raw. I loved that she didn’t just fall into love, she rebuilt herself along the way.

And Mal… wow. He is everything you want in a book boyfriend but with depth. He is not just the rock star fantasy. He is gentle, protective, a little broken, and so genuine in the way he shows up for her. Their connection felt instant but also layered, like two people who met exactly when they needed each other most.

The beach scenes had this dreamy, almost healing energy, and then the story hits you with emotional twists that really make you feel the weight of their choices. The angst was perfect. It hurt just enough to make the love story feel earned.

The chemistry between them is intense and definitely spicy, but it never overshadows the emotional core of the story. It actually adds to it. You can feel the vulnerability in every moment they share.
What I loved most is the message underneath it all. Sometimes the life you planned falls apart so something better can find you. It is messy, scary, and unpredictable, but also worth it.

If you love rock star romance, emotional healing journeys, a little age gap tension, and a story that balances spice with heart, this one is absolutely worth it.

I am already obsessed with this series and need more immediately.

Lick It Up is an age‑gap, rockstar romance with insta‑lust, insta‑love vibes—and it completely worked for me. It’s a fast read, but fair warning: it does touch on potentially triggering topics including domestic violence and substance abuse.
Mal is a 40‑something guitarist questioning his friendships and career while on a hard‑won journey of sobriety. On the way to Fiji, he meets Saylor, a much younger woman fleeing the fallout of her broken engagement after discovering her ex’s gambling addiction and mob‑level debt. What was meant to be her honeymoon turns into an unexpected escape—and an intense connection.
They fall for each other hard and fast (very “baby‑girl” vibes, but in a sweet, consensual way), and just when island life feels perfect, tragedy strikes. Reality hits immediately once they leave paradise, and I loved watching them navigate it together. Both Mal and Saylor are insecure and questioning, but they actually communicate—and that’s what allows them to face the dysfunction and toxicity surrounding his celebrity and her unhinged ex.
The banter was fantastic: between Mal and Saylor, among the bandmates, and especially whenever Saylor was involved with the group. And Mal’s mom? Absolute MVP—she had me laughing out loud.
This was a great start to a new series. The realism of the struggles, the sobriety and grief arcs, and an MMC who isn’t afraid to feel deeply or show emotion made this so refreshing. Watching their growth—both as a couple and individually—was incredibly satisfying.
And seriously… can Paige and Leif please get their own book?

Lick It Up is the first book in the Long Licks Rock Stars series and follows Saylor and Mal in an event filled elopement with a rockstar, age gap romance.

Saylor is on a solo honeymoon after breaking off her wedding with a true skidmark to society. Wanting to take a minute to breathe and reset, she hops on the plane and pretty quickly meets our MMC, Mal. After a few awkward exchanges, they wind up at the same resort as the only single guests.

Mal is a rockstar who has recently finished a tour with his band and decides to take a retreat type vacation to combat the stress of not knowing what is next for his band, not realizing that this resort caters almost exclusively to couples.

One glance leads to another and it isn’t long before Saylor and Mal decide that getting married to their vacation hookup is the answer to all of their problems.

This story was a quick read that kept me flipping the pages. I genuinely found myself rooting for both characters as they underwent their own struggles. Some of the things that they are forced to endure, Mal specifically, were truly heartbreaking. However, I didn’t find their relationship to be longlasting. I craved that HEA but, in that aspect, their relationship fell flat.

The series is set up to follow Mal’s other bandmates, and I am hoping that I will see flashes of Saylor and Mal in the future books that might change my mind about the longevity of their relationship.

Lick It Up by Gillian Archer is a wild, emotional rockstar romance that pulled me in from the very first page and didn’t let go.

Saylor’s life completely falls apart right before her wedding, leaving her heartbroken and escaping alone on what was supposed to be her honeymoon in Fiji. Enter Malcolm—Mal—the tattooed, man-bun-wearing guitarist of Long Licks, who quite literally crashes into her life in the most chaotic and hilarious way (their first meeting on the plane? ICONIC). His excuse—“I was horny and you’re hot”—set the tone perfectly.

What starts as an impulsive connection quickly turns into something intense and all-consuming. This is definitely an insta-love story, but it works because of how safe Mal makes Saylor feel after everything she’s been through with her awful ex. He’s not just a rockstar—he’s sober for eight years, and his struggle to maintain that is written so raw and realistically.

Yes, the spice is spicy—from the plane tension to the unforgettable shower scene and beyond—but what really got me was the emotional depth. Mal wanting to be her everything after such a short time could’ve felt rushed, but instead it felt desperate, real, and full of heart.

Between building sandcastles, navigating trauma, and dealing with the chaos of his world, this book is a full emotional rollercoaster.

“No, I'm in a relationship. With myself. It’s going really great.”

I almost DNF’d this one - So glad I didn’t give up.
This is one of those cases where I loved the characters; however, the storyline was at times lacking for me.

Okay, Mal did irk me a bit, but he was on a pretty sharp learning curve with Saylor.
And with a daddy kink - who knew?

This was an instant attraction/love romance, and at times, I was concerned that their relationship might be more of a band-aid for their traumas than actual love. Mal and Saylor were both facing turning points in their lives, and it felt like they were avoiding their problems with sex. (yes I get attached to my characters.)

Despite feeling like something was missing from the storyline, there was just something that compelled me to push on.
Glad I did
When they leave the island, things get real.

I got angry
A little scared
I even dripped a few of those watery things from my eyes.

This had a little bit of everything:
A lot of character growth - just took them a little while
Loss - this hit home with me
The battle one faces with addiction
A mom who needed to be fish food - you go, Saylor!
Some “Oh Hades NO you didn’t” moments
Humour
Friendship
And a cast that will steal your heart

I truly am looking forward to the next in the series
Leif's story, maybe?

**★★★★☆ | Playful, Steamy, and Packed with Personality**

*Lick It Up* by Gillian Archer is a bold, fun read that leans into its flirty energy and delivers a story full of charm, chemistry, and just the right amount of heat. From the start, there’s a lively, upbeat tone that makes it easy to sink into and enjoy.

The characters are vibrant and full of personality, with a dynamic that sparks through witty banter and playful tension. Their chemistry is undeniable, building in a way that feels both natural and exciting. It’s the kind of connection that keeps the pages turning, eager to see how everything unfolds.

The story balances its lighter, more humorous moments with emotional beats that add depth without weighing it down. While there are a few areas where the emotional side could have been explored a bit more, the overall tone stays engaging and entertaining.

The pacing is quick and smooth, making this an easy binge-worthy read. It keeps things moving without feeling rushed, maintaining a steady flow of tension, humor, and romance.

Overall, *Lick It Up* is a fun, flirty, and engaging read that delivers on both charm and chemistry. It’s perfect for readers looking for something light, steamy, and full of personality.

3 Stars - Sometimes you just need a quick, easy, fun read, and Lick It Up fit the bill perfectly. It was a good time.

I love a good slow-burn, but I also hate how insta-lust gets a bad rap. Why can't two people know they want one another with just one look? That hot flash of desire and knowing they're someone special? It's good stuff! Plus, I love a good rockstar romance! Even if we didn't get to see much rockstar action in this book, I have a feeling there will be more of that as the series continues.

There were no slow-moving parts between these pages. It's short and has a punch. The story moved quickly, with the beginning focusing on their attraction and coming together; the second half of the book introduced the two of them in real life together. The twists and turns as life hits them while still in Fiji and forces them home, then handling some heavy crazy stuff from both sides is something you will not expect. I worried that they wouldn't get it together at first, but why read romance if you can't get a happily ever after? I look forward to seeing their relationship develop into something deeper as the series continues.

Fast read with all of the feelings. You really run the gambit of the emotions you go through. There are some possible triggering topics such as violence, substance issues; mentally taxing moments for the characters; awful controlling parents, to name a few.

Saylor thought her fiancé and soon to be husband was her perfect match, until he showed his true colors. So she cancels her wedding and set off on her planned honeymoon trip alone in Fiji. When she gets there she has to face the reality that she is a single person at a couples resort.

Enter Mal, who is there escaping is own issues and looking like just a regular old surfer instead of the famous rockstar he is. Mal sees that Saylor is struggling and steps in to be her plus one, have dinner with her, sitting by the pool and so much more.

I really enjoyed the build-up of this relationship, but then both of their past come crashing in and making it seem like they may not get that HEA that they both want and deserve. There is just so much struggle and emotions that both of these characters face about their own past and as a couple. There is so much growth though and I was sat for it.

Thank you NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for sharing an early copy of this book with me. All of my opinions are my own.

I absolutely freaking LOVED this book!! While yes this is a rockstar romance, it was so much more!
The fast paced crazy love between Mal and Saylor had me grinning and kicking my legs! They are so cute and steamy together!
He brings her out of her shell in so many ways and the confidence it gives her heals my heart.
This book also has some heavy themes such as substance/alcohol abuse and death and I think Gillian portrayed this is a heart wrenching but tasteful way. Their love story isn't all rainbows and fairytales, it was the harsh realities that many musicians find themselves in and how it affected eachother as a couple and individually.
The way that Saylor was victim shamed repeatedly after what she went through was so sad but with Mal's help she finally has enough and this is just one way their love shines through.
What loved most about this is book is the raw and emotional feelings of these characters. For me, while again, this is a romance book, it was so different from other's that I've read.
I've loved every minute of this arc and I can't wait to see where the next book takes us!
I have actually edited this review because this book has stuck with me and I didn't think my review has done this book justice!

I received this book as an ARC read from NetGalley. This book just went in on the spice from the characters first meeting. The lead guitarist of the band MMC found the FMC cute on the flight and decided to make a pass for her. Loved how the FMC stood her ground and was like nope not interested. They end up in the same Fiji resort and are the only single people on this resort. They end up having meals together one thing leads to another and they end up sleeping together. The MMC talks about the age difference but from reading he is just a horny man lol. He proposes marriage after a week on the resort and she said yes. They marry and that same day the drummer of the band overdoses. That makes the MMC spiral and he start pulling away from the FMC. They travel back to LA together but he is no longer in his love phase but more of the I'll sleep with you and that's it. The FMC hits it off with his mom and I loved how his mom was the meddling kind. The MMC goes to NA meetings because I doesn't want to fall back into drugs and drinking. The FMC gets kidnapped by her ex finance and that's when something clicks on the MMC that he could loose her. Over all the book was ok.

There is something a little disorienting about reading Look It Up while leaving one island and stepping into another. The Fiji setting felt familiar in that quiet, sun-soaked way, which made it easy to slip into the story. At its core, this is a short, slightly chaotic mix of a middle-aged boy band, a heartbroken woman, and a romance that moves quickly from attraction to something more physical. The connection builds fast, almost too fast at times, and takes up much of the first half of the book.

Then the story shifts. What begins as a light, escapist romance turns into something darker, pulling in unexpected elements of danger and crime that change the tone and the relationship itself. I appreciated the heavier topics the book attempts to explore, though they move so quickly that they do not fully settle. The twist is dramatic, but the resolution comes just as fast. It is an entertaining read, though like many shorter works, it feels constrained by its length and would likely have benefited from more space to fully develop.

Thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for the ARC.

4 Stars for this rockstar romance!

Rockstars are my favorite and I’m gonna enjoy reading all the Long Licks bandmates stories. I found the banter between the bandmates to be very realistic along with how their rockstar lifestyle was portrayed. I found the first part of this book dragged on, and I was skimming the pages. But then there is a turn in the storyline and I was captivated. I didn’t mind that Mal was quite a bit older than Saylor, but I’m really not fond of the “Daddy” thing. A great start a new series.

Saylor’s fiance is a gambler and when some goons beat her up to warn him to pay up … he becomes her ex-fiance! The honeymoon to Fiji was already booked and paid for, so Saylor went by herself. Mal is a rockstar and just got off a two year tour. He decides to go to Fiji for some much-needed R&R. Saylor and Mal meet on the plane and are shocked when they are staying at the same resort. Even though Mal is 20 years older than Saylor, there is a strong attraction. They take a big leap and get married on the island, but when they get home … the honeymoon is over!

In this book a lot happens in a short period of time.

Our heroine Saylor is alone on her 'honeymoon' after calling off her wedding.
Our hero Mal is taking some much needed R&R after a long tour with his band.

The meet-cute had me chuckling, but there was a lot of character growth on both sides.

"I blinked and looked up at the older, surfer- looking attractive man standing next to my first- class pod. His long, dirty blond hair was pulled up in a man- bun, and his dark blue eyes twinkled down at me. Faint lines fanned out around the outside of his gorgeous eyes. At my hesitation, he grinned, and a dimple appeared in his scruff covered right cheek."

Our main characters had some serious issues to contend with and they handled them in such different ways. In this age-gap relationship they were emotionally very close in age.

There's plenty of action courtesy of some nefarious characters and lots of steamy moments. I highly recommend this book as a rockstar romance with a difference.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and am leaving a completely honest review.

I was locked in reading this one. I did not see where this book would go and I absolutely loved it so much more for it! I am already excited and waiting for the next one in the series.

Saylor and Mal's entire story, from their meet-cute, to forced proximity, to all the other little bits I'm not going to put in a review cause - spoilers (that I loved getting surprised by), was just so fun and enjoyable to read. The story took turns that I never saw coming, it was so well done that I couldn't slow down. The characters were developed properly, had some heavy subjects that were executed right, the timeline was fast but it never felt rushed or exaggerated, it's just an all round winner.

I am truly surprised by how much this book has kept me on my toes. It really is a fantastic and fun read.

After reading a thousand or so romance stories, some turn very generic. This one really caught me by surprise with the twists and turns only Saylor and Mal's relationship. All the heavy topics were done so well not to mention the story timeline not feeling exaggerated. Please keep me in mind for the next one!!

This book was brilliant. And the flrst book I read after being sick for 2 weeks. And what a book to get me back to reading again. I was a little angry at the story. It was very wham bam we're together, and married and then it just fell off a little in the middle.

In saying that Mal and Saylor were brilliant characters. She was just ballsy enough to keep Mal the rockstar in check as his fame and money ment nothing to her. She dealt with the noise around her, and became better for it. I wanted to punch Mal in certain parts but it was a little understandable.

This book was a great read and I look forward to the next.

Two strangers needing to get away from it all from find themselves the only singles at a couples’ resort. Mal is a rockstar. Saylor is on what was supposed to be her honeymoon. The sparks fly and they impulsively get married only to have the real world come barging back in. Suddenly they need to face it all outside of their island bubble and learn whether their marriage is strong enough to endure.

If you want your mmc perfect, this isn’t the book for you. Mal is flawed, but man did he have a lot coming at him quickly. Saylor was a little too bland for me. It didn’t stop me from caring about her or her story. It just felt like every other female character was more interesting. I am excited about seeing what is in store for band, although I admit to hating their band name. There is already so much drama in their relationships. Overall this was spicy, drama filled read that made me wish book two was already available.

What a way to start a series off that has you captivated and entranced by the characters and the storyline. Saylor is taking a honeymoon by herself and Mal is recuperating after his band has finished their tour when their paths cross. Two single people drawn to each other with an electric chemistry. The connection between them is hot, steamy and at times will take your breath away. A spontaneous decision is made which changes both of their lives, promises are made and hearts are intertwined. At the same time a tragedy strikes, breaking promises and having doubts creep in. Not only is this age gap romance flaming hot but it takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Your heart will break, anger will surface and frustration will take over. However, when you think all is about to be lost, life will take another turn and reality will knock them to their knees ensuring that they finally face what is important and that is the love that they found with each other. Lick It Up has me spellbound and ready for more of these rock stars.

Mal is arrogant and Saylor is sunshine. These 2 have the most sweet romantic time together in Figi. A whirlwind romance! When the most heartbreaking news happens and their story takes a hard steep turn. So much uncertainty and brokenness that neither of them knows where to turn. But they stick it out and over come the hurdles🖤
this book depicts the selfishness and heartbreak of a recovering addict, while it was very heartbreaking was also very well done 👏

Lick It Up is the first story in the Long Licks Rock Stars series. It is my first from this author and was well-written and enjoyable.

Saylor has been destroyed by her fiance' and she cancels their wedding. She has been planning the wedding for a while and is unable to get a refund for the honeymoon trip. She decides to go alone. When she gets to the destination, she realizes this is more of a couples atmosphere and feels uncomfortable. Mal, a famous rockstar, comes to help her out. He likes the fact that she didn't recognize him as being famous. As they get to know each other they realize they have a connection. They have to decide whether their connection can last after the trip.

I loved the connection between Saylor and Mal. They had an instant draw to each other. I enjoyed the rockstar aspect of the story. If you are wanting an original rockstar romance with emotions this one is for you. I look forward to more from this talented author.

Thank you for the advanced copy.

I was so happy to see a new series from Gillian Archer! I missed the Tin Gods, and the band Long Licks does not disappoint! The series opener has Malcolm Holt, lead guitarist for the band on his way to a tropical vacation for some R&R time after the band's international tour ends and Saylor is travelling on the same plane to the same destination after breaking off her engagement. After a disastrous not so meet cute on the plane, they discover that they are the only two singles at the resort. They get to know each other and sparks fly - despite a 20 year age difference. The two decide to marry but the rest of their holiday is cut short due to a band emergency. Real life hits hard and fast for Malcolm and Saylor. Can the new love they have survive?

I loved this opener for the series, and it sets up the next book beautifully!

First I would like to thank Gillian for the opportunity of reading this book earlier than others.

That being said, I feel that with this books there was a “me” issue, as I felt that it was moving too fast and too slow at the same time, I was in the middle of it thinking: daamn is there actually that much left? Hasn’t everything already happened?

Then there was a plot twist that made sense but at the same time it didn’t, I don’t know, I feel like it started amazing and then it downgraded pretty fast and then small things made it good again, such as the importance of support while being sober, or puting up limits to some people…
I think I will read it again when I’m in a different state of mind.

Then I have to highlight how happy I am with how Gillian treats the addiction issue and the way Mal deals with it and how is battle you have to choose to win everyday and how some may be harder than others.
